Richard Huckle: Britain's "Gap Year Paedophile" | #259

RedHanded

About this episode

Richard Huckle's grooming, exploitation and sexual abuse against some of the world's poorest children were posted on the dark web all to see. From Malaysia, Britain's "Gap Year Paedophile" conducted a nine-year-long, systematic campaign of abuse, authored a how-to-guide for paedophiles, and contributed to one of the largest child sexual abuse networks ever discovered.

Then, in October of 2019, prison officers at HMP Full Sutton in West Yorkshire discovered Huckle's body, after being subjected to 89 minutes of torture and strangled to death by another inmate. This is the story of the incredible officers who brought him down, how online anonymity and safeguarding failures enabled his abuse, and what this case reveals about international child exploitation.
