You're listening to the Dana and parks podcast on KMBZ. I'm just glad he didn't say hoot nanny. Yeah. We're hankering. I got hankering for some Dorito chips right now. I'm Johnson speaking of hankering and hoot nanny. We are long overdue for a buzzword with a buzzby. Ooh. Is today the day. What about hankering? You hankering for a buzzword? I don't think so. Hankering for some cooler temperatures. Well, we already got those. So you can't be hankering for them anymore because we just got them. I've never been so ready for fall in my life. I can't remember a time. I mean, it's already my favorite season, but this has been just awful. I'll tell you on was it Tuesday that was the hottest day or Monday? I think Monday was much hotter than Tuesday. Okay. Monday got to like 150 degrees outside or something. Yeah. The surface of the sun. Yeah. We we were coming home from a coyote versus acme. By the way, welcome commander Jesse Reed. How do we get in today for Dana? Howdy.
And the other voice you know, recognizes Dan Weinberg. Dan Weinberg from Florida. The smooth baritone is back. The berry wide of news. They were celebrating Labor Day. They were asking on the text line, where's Dan? We need him to read us our news. No more ABC, please. So you're back. Welcome. Welcome to ABC, dude. They just don't report the news like Dan Weinbaum reports the news. Naturally. Of course. So anyway, we come back from coyote versus acme on my early Monday afternoon, it was like 330 or something when we got home. And I mean, I was sweating in an air conditioned car. And I told Tee, I've always told Sam, I'll never complain about how hot the summer gets because he doesn't want to hear it when I complain about how cold, how much I hate the winter in Kansas City. And I said, that ends today because this is too much. It is. And now what is it? What is the current temperature outside right now? Like 78 or something nice and cool.
I don't know. It feels like winter time right now and it's just normal. I had to slap on a long sleeve to walk the dog this morning. It was confusing. Yeah. It's a muggy 73. A muggy 73. I did. I burped my house this morning. It was so cool outside. You guys burp your house. Is that where you open the windows? I open all the windows. If you have an attic fan, turn on the attic. So I sat and read the paper this morning while Tee was getting ready with the back door open. It was lovely. Could hear the football team practicing. Oh, anyway, I don't want to get jipped on fall either. Like I don't, I don't want summer to overextend into the fall months and then fall ends up lasting just one month and boom, we're right in the winter. See, is that more so us as human beings fixating on the negatives than the positives? Because I have the same thing where every year I feel like we only get two weeks of good weather in the spring and we only get two weeks of good weather in the fall. I think that's real. If you go and look at the weather archives, it's actually not real.
We get it for like six, eight weeks, but it feels so good that we're not paying attention to. So that time flies by and then all of a sudden it's cold and we're like, what the heck? We didn't even get a phone. Actually, if you look at the numbers, you did. Can I say I like that you're just natural, positive, mental attitude towards that too. To focus on the positive and not the negative. That's great. And it's still summertime. So yeah, technically, yeah, that's true until what the 21st of this month. That's right. It's still summer. All right, story here from Fox four. Kansas City Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt says the team's new stadium across the state line, read that wine. That county will likely not be called Arrowhead Stadium. Hunt spoke with Fox four this morning ahead of the chiefs home opener, discussing his family, read Thursday. Can somebody explain read Thursday to me later in the show? Okay, I didn't think so. And once ahead for the upcoming season, but the biggest news that he shared centered on the team's new domed stadium in KCK for the first time.
Hunt directly addressed what the soon to be home of the chiefs will be called. And despite its historic legacy and symbolism, he confirmed Arrowhead will likely be getting a new name, quoting here from Clark Hunt. I don't think we'll call it Arrowhead, but we wanted to make sure there were enough elements in the design that reminds every fan who is attended a game at Arrowhead about what a great stadium that is as long as it's not insert your corporation name here and then stadium at the end of it. That's all I care about here and damn teed. That's what it's going to. That's got zero personality. Do we get the pitchforks out now or do we wait until now for the Missouri side fan? Who said I will never, ever, ever attend a chiefs game in the state of Kansas. Now they're really not going to attend a chiefs game in Kansas because the stadium is not going to be called Arrowhead. And by the way, the red Thursday situation is they felt weird celebrating something on
the 25th anniversary of 9-11. Oh, so it's just this Thursday. Is that not Friday? You know, I respect that. Yeah, I respect that. So you could go around to the McDonald's, whatever the bank branches, I forgive me, I forget and get your new season flags today, but they will not be doing any celebration of course because the focus is all on September 11th tomorrow. Okay. I'm just as long as it's not like how Black Friday used to be the big shopping day after Thanksgiving and now it's turned into basically Black November. Black Friday starts on the first of November now for shopping. Well, an Amazon Prime days feels like we have one every three weeks. Yeah. By the way, it's fine that you promote McDonald's. Our partners at high V are also have will also have flags throughout the day. My sincere is to Paul. That's fine. I mean, get a flag with regards to the name. Are we surprised? Let me ask you this. All three of you all start with you. Okay. And then we'll go, we'll go around the half minute or seniority.
Yes. Even when it opens in WINDY County, are people still going to say they're going to the game at Arrowhead? Just like, I mean, sandstone has been called a mill. I don't even know what it is right now. Azura or cricket. I don't even know anymore soon to be closed soon to be closed. Soon to be closed stone. There goes that positive middle attitude. The only name change that has ever really stuck has been T-Mobile Center. Yeah. When it, you know, it used to be Sprint. Now it's T-Mobile and there's no geographical move for those places. No, but I mean, they tried to rename the grand view triangle and, oh, no, no, I take that back. Kaufman Stadium caught on because it used to be just royal stadium. Oh, okay. I didn't even know that it used to just be royal stadium. Yeah, after you and Kaufman, yeah, that's right. The Kaufman Stadium. It's been so long now. Yeah, it's been a long time. So will people still call it Arrowhead? I mean, reflexively, I think possibly.
Yeah, I mean, not if we come up with a really cool name. You have, I don't know, you see this all over. Like I found out about this, you know, fosters is the beer that they drink in Australia. It's kind of like their version of Bud Light. And it's very common in Australia. You just say, throw me a fosters and really they're just saying, give me a beer. That matter what kind it is, but that's just the slang term they use. It could be something like that. But then also, I didn't know people in Australia sounded like a tough guy. A guy to you. Yeah, throw me a fosters. Mate. Oh, yeah, I know. I need to I need to workshop that one. It's not like my Christopher Walken. Yeah, guys, guys. Guys, guys. Are you going to go to Arrowhead? Guys. Yeah, I don't know. What would I call it that? I don't think so. I mean, Arrowhead to me is kind of gritty. And I don't think this new stadium is going to be that way. I'm sure to be very nice. Sam, I think if you're a naysayer, you're going to call it Arrowhead. I think if you're welcoming the new stadium, you're going to call it whatever the new stadium name is. I just hope they do it right.
I have faith they'll do it right. What does that mean? Like don't name it huggies stadium. Yeah. Let's try to come up with it. It's going to get involved. Diverse. Chief affiliated. Like I don't want to go to depends stadium. Are they going to win today? For the Monday night matchup for Monday night football coming to you live from the whole of my stadium. Oops, I crap my pants. I got my stiff. I think it's going to be 50 50. Okay. I think I'm still going to call it Arrowhead. I am, I am so past the corporate branding. And I hate the word branding. I can't believe I just said that. But that's what it is. The corporate branding of major sporting and concert venues. I think it also depends on how many people it does. It does crap my pants. Yeah. Basically, from what I'm understanding, it's going to be hard to even as the as a normal
season ticket holder to get season tickets. There's going to be so it's going to become such a corporate event now anyway. Well, we are from what I understand of what's going to happen with the ticket situation. We are named it based off of the renderings because of the roof. The Pringle. The Pringle. Pringles. The Pringle. Do you see it? I think Morton Ampitheater really needs to get their arms around salt stone and make that their own, even though it was Sam Stevie's idea, salt stone. That's what they should call it. Morton's salt stone. Not Morton Ampitheater. Morton's salt stone. Do you think and, you know, we can't speak to the legacy of Lamar Hunt anymore than Clark can, of course, but what do you think Lamar would say about all of this? I hear both sides of the argument and we heard about it in the stadium moving conversation of, you know, Lamar wanted to bring the sport to new communities. That would be the pro stadium move side of it.
The anti was that he was dead set on Kansas City and Kansas City itself. Well, but that was that was a different time as well. I can't speak for Lamar Hunt. I only met him a handful of times. But I'm sure that Clark Hunt, you know, and I don't care where they play. I don't care if they just keep playing at Arrowhead. I'm still going to cheer for him. If I can afford it, I'm still going to go see them every once in a while. But man, my couch is a great view. What is? Somebody says on the text line, why not call it the Lamar Hunt dome? The problem with that is there's no money in it. And we live in a time now where, I mean, my God. They're naming the field. Geha, you know, Geha field at Arrowhead Stadium from the text line. Arrowhead 2.0. I don't think we're getting that one. They could star bond stadium. Star. They could lean into the whole Kansas thing.
Oh, they're not going to do that. The sunflower bowl. No, Toto field. They're going to do everything they can possibly do locally to not remind you they're in Kansas. The dog Toto, by the way, not the band. Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, just yeah, just in case. Totally on this for Scott, totally unnecessary clarification. 913 5867798 Commander Jesse Reed in for Dana, right? My name is Scott Parks here on KMBC.
