You're listening to the Dana N. Park's podcast on KMBZ. What's up everybody? Hope everybody's homes are okay. They're windshields. Man. They're back glass. I ran so fast last night. Where were you in it? I ran. Where were you in it? I was in my place down on the west bottoms and I got that alert. That was a different alert than I've ever gotten. What do you mean? And the noise. No. The imminent. It was a- I'm like, oh. And it said destructive hell. It's the noise that says you're about to need a bucket on your head. Which have you guys seen that video? The guy taking a comforter and covering his car, but he's got a five-gallon home depot bucket on his head. Running out to his car. I think Channel 5 at it. And he's got a fucking gallon home depot bucket. Completely covering his head. He can't see a thing. And you just- I ran down the doors, got in the car and zipped it over under a bridge and protected it.
Oh, smart play on your part. So did you get like the big- So we were watching- We did not. We were watching Channel 9 last night when we got home. Sadly, Wheel of Fortune was preemptive. I noticed the same thing. Thanks a lot, Joe Gloria. Panic and a lot of boomers there. And, um, right? So we switched over to Nick Bender and Brian Busby over on Channel 9. And, uh, Bender had jumped out of Bender. Bender? No. Had jumped out of his vehicle long enough to grab a piece of the hail. It was big. That's the biggest I've ever seen fall inside the Kansas City Metro. Man. It was great fruit-sized, but it wasn't round. So I'm going to describe it as like small bousers falling out of the- No, no. It almost looks like- Dare I say snowflakes? We are going to have a conversation. Like, gigantic snowflakes. Yeah, they were just chaotic and mischaping. They were like flat, but- But it's kind of sort of round. I was poking out from all over the place.
Yeah. Rounded. You are all missing the- The lead of our entire program today. And that is the ridiculous objects with which the news people are starting to identify the hail. Oh, he will. Storms have become a produce. I- When did we go from ping pong golf ball, you know, my entire life- Baseball. It was nickel quarter size ping pong golf ball, you know, ever once in a while you'd get baseball. Like, damn. So let- So let's go through it. It's pea size, dime size, quarter size, ping pong. Totally acceptable. Golf ball. Very acceptable. Baseball. Very acceptable. And then softball. Okay. Let me read to you. It started here. One of the descriptions. I think this was from the AP. Severe storms are ripping across the U.S., bringing large hail, the size of grape fruits, and coffee mugs. I'm sorry. And coffee mugs, Scott, a dangerous severe thunderstorm outbreak is unfolding across
multiple states, including the plains, Midwest, and South. Tornado's hail and damaging winds are impacting areas like Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. Yeah. Much bigger than, say, a kiwi size, or a cum-quat size. Coffee-cump. Wh-who came up-no? Now, are we talking like a espresso-sized coffee- Is it a venti? Is it a trinta? I don't know if we'll have time, Sam. We're going tall. What are we doing here? So, I have multiple different sizes of coffee mugs at my home. Can you describe the coffee mug? Eight ounce. Six ounce. What do you think? Six ounce. Does it feel like ceramic when it hits your noggin? Ask the guy in bliss. Sprinks with the bucket, honestly. It is the funniest video, you guys. The other one that got me was, and KCTV5 posted this one as well. They were getting a lot of listeners, or viewership videos last night. And it was a guy and a woman, I'm assuming they were together, I don't know. They were sitting in a car, and she's going, oh, no, honey, is it going to break through the windshield? Bam! And it came right through the windshield, as she could not finish the word windshield.
And the guy goes, oh, yep. Yep. Perfect timing. Oh. Well, I want to tell you, I had a little, I had a little FOMO last night, because I was watching the radar, which looked like a Jedi fighter, by the way, if you did not see the photo. And I kept thinking, okay, we're on our porch. We're waiting. I had a little glass wine. I was all excited. I did. I'd like, come on. If it's going to hail, let's do it. I want to see it. I want to see it. We did not get a single drop, not a pea-sized nothing of hail. Why would you want hail at your home? Well, I'm not saying I did, but everyone else was supposed to look at the hail, look at the hail. Look at the radar. Explain to the story. For some fans what that looks like. That's some FOMO right here. You really want me to explain to them what it looks like? Well, it's either a guitar player going, or it's Obi-Wan Kenobi. Or an erection. Oh my gosh, stop! It's not awards! It's an executive just say it like that. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun. Okay. We got radish-sized hail in Waldo. Oh, you're gonna go with radish? Yeah, I'm gonna go with small radish, because there's a lot of radish in one.
Radish. Radish, R-E-D-I-S-H. Rad. Yeah, that's good size. Someone on the text line says they were definitely a hedge apple sized. Okay, now hedge apple I can get behind. I grew up with those. You do not want those trees in your yard. The wood burns crazy and hot. And those balls dare I say. If that thing lands on your head, it'll kill you. It will kill a decent sized toddler. We used to have them in our backyard. Cut them down. Headjapples are bad. You heard it here first. And our latest in is. I didn't know what the name of them, what the apples called when I first moved here. So I just started calling them monkey balls. No, they're hedge apples. And you know what, Dan? And all kidding aside, we had about 12 of them in our backyard in Leewood. Oh. When those things start to ripen and grow and they don't drop until they're the size of way bigger than a way bigger than a grapefruit. Almost small cantaloupe. We would have to bring the children inside. Oh, yeah.
Because of the size. And it's not just the size. They are falling from three stories, right? And in the backyard, you would just your boom. Boom. Boom. It's a safety hazard. What does it sound like? What does it sound like? Boom. Boom. And you definitely don't want those balls on your head. Definitely do not. I'm telling you. And it is such a pain to get them out of your yard. Now they do make great jelly. No. No, no, no. Oh, they don't. No. That was the bad weather. But yeah. It's crab apple. All that crazy hail. Looks like it was focused mostly in Wyandotte County and Platt County and into Clay County. Clay County out. Northland. And Wyandotte. And Wyandotte. And Wyandotte. I really, really do. Why is it so fascinating to watch the weather? Because it's an admiration. It's a what? Aboration. It's something that's not a daily thing. Yep. We couldn't turn it off. And there's nothing you can do about it. Here it comes.
Oh, yeah. We put Mary Best Car in the garage and she was like, what are you going to do about your truck? And I was like, look at it. What do you want me to do? He's on his own. I'm not going to go start karate chopping the hail. Am I going to get a new one? We'll see. Was the blue taco on her own last night? The blue taco was on her own. She survived, though. I have shock sensors. So like if you pull on the door handle when it's locked, it'll set the alarm off and that didn't go off. So the radish sized hail was not big enough to set off the shock sensor. Okay. Well, we all survived. I was literally pulling down my street last night. And here comes the pea sized hail. And it was only two years ago that we got hit by baseball. I had never seen hail so big in my life. And this was not a cheap roof replacement. Somebody else had set up the insurance on the house. And she did not set it up properly and it's not tea.
We ended up spending over $10,000. On a roof that was covered by insurance? Yes. Because somebody set it up on percentage, not on deductible. Did you not have liberty, Bernie? I didn't have liberty, Biberty. That ad is literally playing in here. Liberty, Biberty. You're speaking my love language. All right. What do we want to talk about today? Oh. Gen Zers. They're bringing mom and dad to their job interviews. What do you mean? They're bringing, I don't know how to be more clear or speak better English. They're bringing mom and dad to their job interviews. So I will ask our audience what is the one thing you have done with your very young adult children that looking back, you're like, yeah, it was probably a little helicopter. Like maybe I shouldn't have dot, dot, dot, called his professor.
