Clare FM

About this episode

A prominent Ennis facility is set to close for eight weeks for a major refurbishment. Cloughleigh Playground will be closed from today until April 27th to facilitate the project, valued at over €40,000. The works will see the installation of a new swing, new benches, sensory play elements and games, a new tarmac surface and a new perimeter fence. Clare County Council Senior Sport And Recreation Executive Eoin Troy says it will hugely benefit the community.

We're delighted to announce that we are supposed to cure our 43,721 euros of HFA social investment funds for the Clayfell connections project, which we're aiming towards revitalizing the playground in Clackley. So in collaboration, I suppose with the local community, we kind of try to re-imagined the existing play area and bring as much change as we possibly could to the project while including, you know, sensory elements and accessibility. And take an accessibility intervention. And every community wants to have a good playground and it's such a vital resource to have, but particularly that accessible element as well with the sensory garden. It's brilliant that parents now have a resource for their children with additional needs as well. Yeah, absolutely. So I suppose safety is one of our form of concerns really with it. So we're installing a new 1.2-meter fence around the playground where I suppose re-taramacking the entire area. Re-installing new wet porzones in multiple areas. So there are the impacts on at the bottom of things like slides and smokey bars and stuff like that.

And then in additionality, I suppose rather than a sensory garden, we'll have sensory boards and sensory type games that will also be included in addition to, I suppose, bench seating for parents and things like that. So it'll bring the playground up to, I suppose, a high standard relative to the needs of people in Clackley area.
