Well, we've talked so much about how everybody has to change their roles with the brunt James and Jaylen Brown. Now add it to the team. But what is? I'm just mentioning this piece. Send it. Welcome to the PHY Sixers Podcast Live from the PHY. Of course, the Exhibit of the Land, we're just hanging out Derek, Kyle DeBon, and Bre. She's the President of the Basketball Operations, all of you in the chat. I think a thousand there early. Got Val right away. And Sir Reef checking us out immediately as well. We thank all of you. We can't thank you enough as always. We hang out with you on this Wednesday. We're starting football season gets underway tonight. That means we're closer and closer to the start of basketball season as well. We have a lot to get to here on the show as we have a little bit later on. Just again, just so much to get to. We have some news and notes a little bit later to share with you.

We also have a Y Y Wednesday since we're here on the Wednesday. Y Y got here pretty quickly since we were off on Monday. So we'll take that. And the Exfinity big takeaway a little bit later in the show as well. So buckle up, hang tight. And we got a lot to talk about starting with. Tyree's Max wondering with Tyree's Maxi is he the one that just just keeps going no matter what the changes in a personnel are that he keep going. So I direct everybody to Derek, of course, but first to tell you that Derek wrote a story at all. All PHL Y dot com about Tyree's Maxi it dropped and the it's about. Is he the big winner of this off season with the addition of James and Brown. We are the big winner. That's true. It's always about us. It's always. I do guys and you know all of us collectively. Are we all winners? Yes, we are. I won't go that well, we're not not everyone's winners. We're winners. We're all winners here.

Oh, this one's a great. This is a winner's. Wait, who's not the winner here? Not on set. I'm saying the royal we the collect there. There are some losers out there. Let's call. Yeah. Yeah, I'm talking about this whole basketball. The circle here. Sixers fans. The surf winners. The basketball circle. Sixers media. They're also winners. We're winners here. And with it is Tyree's Maxi the big winner is he the one that's going to benefit the most from this for a variety of different reasons. So again, all phy.com Derek wrote a story about Tyree's Maxi possibly being the big winner. And he gets into a lot of the detail of why that could happen for the two time all star all NBA guard that the sixers have that is currently right now in his prime and can even get that much better. So we talked so much about the bronze James and sacrifice and Joe Ellen beat and VJ edge comb Tyree's Maxi as well. Jalen Brown, but what were you trying to get to with this story here about Tyree's and why he could be the big winner of the offseason.

Well, I think the real reason I wrote it is because we had spent so many times talking about how good Tyree's is going to be off ball. I went, huh, maybe I should go back and double check the numbers and make sure I'm not full of it. So I went back and I took the numbers and it turns out he was really good off ball as well. And you know, I think like there's so many different ways to go. He was an elite corner three point shooter. He was elite in terms of like early offense transition three shooter. I think even beyond that, maybe what I'm most excited about is a return of real close outs to attack. Like when I was going back and looking through a lot of clips of him finishing at the rim, you know, in 2021, 22 when he's playing alongside of hard and playing a little more off ball. He was so good if his defender was just shaded over a little bit if his defender was just a little bit off balance. It's not just that he's going to get open catch shoot three's that he hasn't really had the last couple years. It's not just that he's going to get corner three's which he was one of the best in the world that it's going to open up so many driving lanes for him to.

And I think over the last two years, you know, on the one hand Tyree's has news made all NBA team and a couple of all star teams individually. He has grown a lot as a score, but I do think a lot of people including a lot of people in the chat will point out to hear some of his weaknesses. Here's his deficiencies. Maybe he doesn't quite have, you know, he doesn't he hasn't changed speeds as much as you would want. Maybe it's passing the court vision. Having him played and look, he's not going to play all off ball. Having him play more off ball. Solves a lot of that and then locks a lot of what he is truly a lead at and it really was just like he was so good. I had one play where I clipped in there where I think it was Seth Curry and then be running a two man game. Look, Seth isn't exactly like the world's most dangerous playmaker or passer, but because they're so worried about that two man action, they just shaded off of Tyree's just a little bit and he shot through that gap and he's so good at it. I'm just so excited to see him because it really is in order to make stuff like this work where you're kind of putting like an Avengers lineup together, you need adaptable stars.

And there's maybe no more adaptable star in the league all NBA caliber player. I mean, there are like you go with like Kevin Durant. Curry, but there are very few stars this adaptable in the middle of their prime who can move between on ball and off ball roll the way he can. And not just like succeed, not just be good at it, but you might actually unlock the best version of Tyree's. And I think that's what's so exciting about adding LeBron will decide the fact that you're adding LeBron and Jalen. You are unlocking what I think has been hidden as he's one of the best off wall players in the league. He's tremendous, right? And I think so Tyree's as he when he was on the ascent in part because he got connected to him in some trade rumors when he's on the block. There are a lot of like, could he be Dame Lillard stuff? And I think he has made strides as that sort of on ball more of a point guard guys controlling the offense as a, you know, bring the ball up every time type of player. But I do think he shares a lot of qualities that made Steph Curry great with his off ball movement and his ability to manipulate the game when he isn't on the ball.

And I think what excites me about this season for him is like LeBron loves these type of players that he can get in a one four action one three earlier in his career, but a one four ball screen where if you switch it, LeBron is just going to absolutely destroy somebody. If you don't then hey, maybe somebody's got an opening going downhill if they try to trap Iris, then it's LeBron playing four on three going and doing that. But also you have a guy who is perfectly comfortable and as they're cleared out with all the numbers, not just competent, but elite as an off ball shooter. That's that stretch of the season after they acquired Hardin and 21 22 post a star break, Maxie shooting 48% from three is just like brain breaking, but also if you guys remember that stretch of the year, it feels that was how it felt at the time is like he's making almost 50% of his threes. And I felt like every time the ball came to him in a week's out rotation or Hardin's hitting them on a corner skip, Maxie felt like he was going to make it more often than not.

And LeBron is that type of draw two in the middle, make a pass over the top fine guys type of passer. And so whether he is in a direct action with Tyrese or whether he's in, you know, a pick and roll with Joelle, a pick and roll with somebody else, week side action that is funneling him toward the middle. With Maxie not necessarily involved in the main action, there are so many ways that he can get shots without having to do a lot of work for it either like how many times last year and certainly the season before where we talking about not only did Tyrese play 37 38 39 minutes, but he's having to beat guys one on one in isolation over and over and over again to get even like a mediocre look let alone a good one. And you know the real power of having all this offensive talent and guys who can draw double teams and will draw double teams is that just by in a sheer numbers game, Tyrese will get open shots not because teams are going to treat him any differently not because they're disrespecting him, but because you're playing with one of the greatest players of all time because Dwellin beat as we've always seen draws doubles basically every time he's on the court.

Jalen Brown is a real downhill force who teams need to stop at the rim and so I have been bullish on this for Tyrese from the very beginning. Derek laying this all out in terms of all the the stats that we've seen for him off the ball over the years absolutely lines up with our memories and our thoughts about how they could deploy him. And most importantly like I think the sixers on their end are also excited to get him off the ball. I think Nick has talked last year, two years ago about you know we would love to be able to get Tyrese into more of those situations because he is so good there, but they didn't really have the choice when it's you know him by himself and even last year when it's him and VJ you don't want to ask VJ to be like the every play point guard so that you can get Tyrese shooting guard reps or off draw. Shooting reps and so this year you don't have to make compromises this year of course you can lean into all the ways that Tyrese has grown as a playmaker distributor on the ball score pull up shooter all that stuff.

But you can also just make his life easy and I think that will not just pay dividends for him as a shooter and as a spacer it's also going to save his energy so that he can when they have big possessions on defense like Tyrese still has the legs left and frankly even when he's playing 40 minutes a game his conditioning is really good so I'm really happy that we're going to get to see a physically sharp mentally sharp version of Tyrese maxi. Deeper into games and put him in positions to succeed on off. Yeah, I mentioned it just just on that last point I mentioned the article but like last year he shot 33% from three and fourth quarter and then even more specifically waiting to see you can see against the next. Look the next his thumb was met Eris pinky was a stop again and all that stuff like he was he was gas to just tell. And that's going to be a big part of it to where he's gas because he's playing so many minutes where he's going to be fresher maybe at the end of games where they're not blowing teams out it's a closer game but he's going to have his legs potentially because he's not running as much as we were seeing the last two seasons where he'll be fresh enough to take those shots from three point range.

Attack those close outs when they when they come in the way because while the shooting is going to open up so much you guys mentioned it just a downhill stuff that he's going to be able to do by we've seen that even when he didn't have the right person all around him that's part of his game anyway when you look at the profile of Tyrese maxi of getting downhill with his variety of finishes at the room floaters runners off the glass reverse finishes that he's had now when you also factor in the game. So factor in that the three point shot will be there so they're going to close out he's going to be even deadlier shooter because of where he's going to have more space to make those shots but then he's going to have he's not going to be as tired as he has been these last couple of years in the in the latter part of the game because of all the work that he has to do individually to find some of those shots to get those good looks for the team because either George or. And be one in the game and he just simply had to do all that work by himself so with that going back to the shooting part of it that Derek and Kyle are highlighting that's just going to be phenomenal to see because he talked about it at the end of the year at the exit meetings when Colin Derek right there and he's talking about I want to be able to be off ball a little bit more and be able to showcase those skills that I still do have that we see from time to time but not as much I didn't expect it to be in this version though where you at least.

Brian James and Jalen Brown to allow him to be off ball we were talking bring back Quentin rhymes or bringing a new guard and maybe Vija edge call can take that leap in year number two as an on ball guy to loosen up some of that space to create more opportunities for Tari's Maxi to get his work done instead you have now maybe the best pass on your team with LeBron James. LeBron who as we talked about at the end of the show yesterday Derek nominated him where he could still lead the team and scoring because of the ability that we know he has as a top six finalists and the MVP category season ago. There's just going to be so much runway for him to still improve as he goes into year number seven where we're not we're not simply putting a cap on where he is because new personnel comes in and it's going to take maybe some possessions away from him. This is me is probably going to be more efficient with what he's doing his decision making is going to be easier and it's not just the decision making of being a point guard to find other players is just a decision making of how he's going to get his looks with those intermediate baskets the outside shots we talk so much about going into last year year number six for him he's got to incorporate instead of taking the pounding in the paint and not getting the calls that he wanted knocked down some of those mid range jumpers we saw a lot of that we saw a lot of basically.

He's got a lot of online work with those fade away jumpers that he likes to take and he shot those at a really good clip for the amount of shots that he had to take in those spots and that's just also a part of the arsenal for him that he's going to be unable to unleash with all of this talent around him in that first five group that he's going to be a part of and that's not even mentioning when he does have a sub with Anthony Simons is on the floor he's drilling history. He was just spotted in the gym together so that's you want to add to the list of trios and duos and whatnot Maxi and Simon's already spotted together those two on the floor that he's already got an under control and Simon's is knocking down three is what are you going to do they're going to leave him open when the ball swings to him they try to shade over and take away the three he passes it right. He's now wide open so just so many different lineup constructions that I can't wait to see what Nick nursing the coaching staff have been trying to design on paper right now and then figured out once they get the camp of who works best how it works best where you're going to see Maxi in that on ball off ball.

I have a lot of action that he's going to have in general the play calls that he's going to have and what all of that stuff is going to look like and it's going to be so much fun because we keep talking about guys sacrifice and yes everybody's going to have the sacrifice but he might be the one Derek that can just keep going. And just it may not be the tune of 30 points where he was averaging for most of the year last year ending up in 28 29 category but he can still probably average about 26 and being all star level player. Yeah I'm not even sure if you would view it as a sacrifice if there's anyone who seems like he is probably looking forward to giving up the ball at least for some time I think he understands like man these last two years without especially when he was out like it was really hard sled and going back to him but you know we've cited the numbers with and without a beat for Tyreece a lot last year 40% from three with and beat 34% without follows general trend for his career we're talking thousands of three point attempts 41% with a beat on the floor 35 and a half percent with a beat on the bench. But we sat here after watching like the next series a couple years ago not last year but the previous one going man these two look like the perfect pairing I'm not sure it's ever going to matter because I'm beat might not ever be a regular player again and who knows he looks great physically lost a lot of weight looks like he's moving well practicing regularly seems like a normal basketball player will see whether or not that holds up but it almost I'm not going to say it doesn't matter because you need a beat but for Maxi's perspective and the you need something to create open looks for him you're not as relied on a beat to be able to do it.

He's relied on a beat to be that guy to create open looks because you added LeBron James and Jalen Brown and a single off season which still sounds preposterous to say out loud and look Paul George is great very good to a player really good off ball shooter he was not bending a defense even in a way that 41 going on 42 year old LeBron James will and certainly not like Jalen Brown will there's way more opportunities for Maxi to get off ball shots even if and be is not an error. Every day player to your point about the winning stuff. Yeah, it's really fun to someone who played basketball the whole life I'm sure to average 30 points a game and you know be the face of the franchise. You know what's probably more fun averaging 25 points a game and winning 55 games and not having to get out of the play and to make the playoffs right being on a team where you're still at the forefront of things you're still like Tyrese Maxi is not coming into the season and being frozen. Being frozen out and crunch time he's not someone who's just going to get shoved aside and like oh you know what you're just a spacer for LeBron like that is not now this is going to work that is not going to work for him for Nick nurse for anybody no one's coming in with that sort of expectation nobody puts Tyrese in the corner.

He has earned his spot as an all NBA all start type guy and frankly the reason that a lot of these guys are even here that you can justify trading for Jalen Brown and then LeBron can come here is because Maxi is that ultimate first building block that everyone is now joining here. He is going to scale it back not because he's going to be turned into you know quarter man but because he wants to win and that matters to him much more than like here's my number on a page like I have to hit this exact number he's a max contract player he's got a new balance sneaker deal like this is not somebody that is a rookie who's obsessed with like I got a hit certain individual milestones the milestones he wants to hit and he has set it himself all along. He wants to win and and frankly he said it a hundred times over the last few years he hates losing as much as he loves to win like that experience of you know Jowell missed a lot of the season all the issues that they had after signing Paul that really took a toll on him that made him incredibly frustrated with himself with the team and all that I don't think he will care one bit what his ultimate points for game yeah a six.

For game any of that is I think he will measure himself and his teammates quite frankly on how many games they win and I think that that's just that's how he's always been that's how he came to Philadelphia and so I think it's the perfect starting point for the entire group when that's the guy who's your leader to start out and it really to your point about him not snapping an off ball like corner three point shooter it's really unique to have someone who can make 53% of his corner three is over a two year stretch. And also be able to put the ball in the floor like usually when you have somebody who's at a lead of an off ball shooter it's like Kevin her as a great but like nobody scared of you if you try to attack close out I don't know what is defense is you have you're not going to defend everything you have to take something away yet a live with something when you're talking about like Lebron getting downhill. Tyrice running off ball and having close out on Tyrice I don't know what you're willing to live with like all of them are bad options. All right speaking of corners we are going to talk about the corner a little bit because we got to get some numbers about the corner with Tyrice Maxi will do that on the other side as part of our

L. y. six is podcast Derek Caldevin brief president basketball operations hit the like button like and subscribe let's talk about the corner three let's look at some numbers here as we talk about the corner three first and look at what exactly he has here what Derek has here in the story so Derek you know just breaking down again with the corner threes specifically James Harden is where he's going to be doing the harden is where you really focused on with 22.1% percentage of three point attempts from the corner and three point percentage on a corner threes at 53.4% since James Harden left he has a percentage from the corner 8.7% and 40.4 as far as the makes go right so the the first column percentage of three point attempts from the corner so if he takes a thousand three point attempts 22.7% or 1% would be 221 of them

came from the corner switch the percentage of the three pointers that came from the corners and to me I think that's probably the more relevant number than the 53% that he made you would expect that with harden and him playing off ball specifically specifically with that harden and be to man game because there are so dynamic because teams are so afraid of and be making that you know midrange jumper they tend to overplay that when you overplay that you leave people open in the corner so they were certainly easier looks that he was getting a couple years ago you expect the percent to go up but he's going to be a good three point three point shooter no matter what like he's a incredible year in year out you just want to be able to generate more from him and when you're able to put him off ball and specifically when you have people who can again bend defense and force rotations in the middle of the floor there's only so many places that opponents can help off of and the corner tends to be one of them especially if it is a week side corner so I think he's going to get a lot more opportunities this year and you would love to see that because again he was legitimately I think I went through like the 200 and whatever that took at least 100 corner three pointers over that one season and I think he was like third and efficient like he is an elite elite elite

beat set corner three point shooter which again doesn't mean that you're going to ask him to do that all the time and make him only a corner three point shooter but he has somebody who's one of the best in the world at it you're going to put in there so he can space the floor for everybody else. Yeah and I'm curious exactly how often they will put in there because he is going to he will be the guy who's involved in a lot of the ball screens with Joelle Lebron Jalen and to a lesser extent VJ like they'll run someone to some ghost screens up top and things like that to connect those two but by and large like this is going to be more than likely a dribble handoff heavy offense again where they're playing off of one another you don't want to take away from the Joelle and Tyres to a man game that they've built over the years I think there's already some natural chemistry between Tyres and Lebron where you want to have them in you know direct partnership a lot of the time and we'll see how they stagger at I think that's probably going to be one of our big questions. Going into the season that we'll try to glean from preseason like who are the pairings and who are the groups that nurse is going to try to keep together like last year VJ and Paul George was a you know a staple of those backup units.

Now you got a few more guys that you can throw out there and a couple of them are named Jalen Brown and Lebron James so yeah I don't know what nurses appetite for Maxi in the corner specifically is and I think this will be better. So the first thing I think we're going to be part of the feeling out and learning process is what's the right dosage of Maxi as a spacer to open things up for other people versus Maxi as that. Top of the perimeter play in ISO play in ball screens and try to get him going as a downhill score or a pull up shooter I think the great thing is that as we've all talked about and directly out in the article they can have it all like that is the beauty of his skill. And the team that they put together is if you want to go a whole game and use Maxi as just a run around the perimeter run through two three and four screens and he takes all his shots off ball like he's Steph Curry or Ray Allen or whoever he could do that it's perfectly within his skill set and I think that's the real.

Beauty of how he has evolved over the years is that he's put himself in a position where he at least offensively is one of the easiest fits with other stars in the league I think that's a big reason why he is such a draw to join his team because you don't have to come here and think like well that guy i'm not going to ever touch the ball or like he's always going to have the ball in his hands and that does separate him from some of these even the really good guards like Dame Lillard he goes to play with Yannis and Milwaukee. And you know some of this is the honest part of it but everyone was like hey these guys are going to run. Pick and rolls and then you know yannis will play on the ball and Dame will get. Easy looks and it wasn't that simple because that was not a natural skill set for Dame playing off the ball as it is for Tyree so. I just I couldn't be more excited to see what he can do with such a loaded group like he's played with talented teammates and i'm very good teams but. This is pretty clearly the best team that he's playing on top the bottom and certainly in that starting fire let's make this the Xfinity big takeaway presented by Xfinity visit Xfinity dot com to watch.

Your 76ers and 4k wants to season roles around and if you just want to make sure you get it tighten up for the weekend. But the NFL getting underway want to make sure your Xfinity is squared away and ready to go so with Tyree's maxi i was looking at some of. When i was reading the story and even while the guys were talking here also when i was looking at was looking at some of the clips that Derek has in the story again go to all ph. I calm must be a die heart member to about the levels a little bit later that you could see where. James hard on ball. Seth Curry in the actions and his Derek said. Look Seth Curry can shoot the basketball but nobody's going to confuse him as one of the better. Creators for his teammates out there and it wasn't just that he had to do anything all you had to do is just be a threat because of his shooting where they had to identify him on the floor which allows you all and beat. Even in one of the clips it was mantra as her own as the screen center and James heart to do the other stuff right yeah one time what a time.

mantra is her is an interesting guy and Tyree's maxi just. shading and as as certain things that happen in James heart is final and that one clip mantra is harrow find them great screen set by Matisse thai will on the on the baseline to. i'm a name of names now i'm maxi to the launch plan is on game of remember some. I said. And but it was just just the gravity of what James heart was doing and now you have the brunt James and then you also have. Oh by the way you have jaylen brown and oh by the way mantra is hell was making that pass drawing these going to make that pass. And then while VJ edge comes out the shooter he's a much better creator on the basketball then Seth Curry was and and that's where you'll find some really good opportunities for him and that includes the bench. With an afternoon assignments if I line is ever out there with them just because of his ability to break a defense down Dean way with his shooting and the ultimate team guy where. We talk about his signing and they're like you need to take more shots he's so on selfish there times where he's passing up some good looks to make sure that he thinks that their other better looks for his teammates so.

That is a C.P. You know why don't don't forget can Tavius call well put my bad you know why as we always do and Justin Edwards and Justin he really has been. I texted I texted the vania because we were talking about like man we always forgot about KCP I always forget to talk about just that was yeah a little bit. Leather further down maybe in the day but the shooting though but the shooting yeah overall and that's the thing Kyle brought it up that there's just so many different players now that. Art easily the best group of talent that he's going to be around to have one of those easier nights and that's the thing to cause that what we can't wait to see what Nick nurse does with it what if it's just one of those nights of you know what we don't have to run all that stuff tonight you can just be that guy and maybe you are just running around a little bit running around these double screens these stagger screens to get a good open look and it's just it's it's not a cardio night but it says you don't have to do. So much tonight we can allow you to just just kind of take it easy because he's going to have some high octane you got to play a lot of minutes and score a lot of points nights we know Joel miss time we know that Lebron is probably going to get some nights off throughout the season.

You will have plenty of opportunities to shoot and run and control the offense so when the luxury is there for you to. Not take a step off the floor take one short step aside so that other guys can cook and you can get some easier opportunities I think he will embrace that whole hard. Yeah and going back to something Kyle mentioned like i'm also interested to see how this impacts him on ball as well because like you Kyle mentioned the one fours you said all the time we're like you know. JJ would screen for Ben and nobody would ever want to leave JJ well you can do the same thing but now you're doing it with rather than Ben somebody who. Isn't really interested in shooting outside of three feet you're doing some like Lebron James handling the ball and maxi off ball. See still. Derek is protesting. Come on. Well, I'm not protesting very well because I still go there multiple times for a week. When I do shed a tear every time I walk up to the coffee on. Thug tears for a while. None for a joe. Well, that's what Derek said. Thug tears for the chocolate bliss. All right. Let's get to the catch and shoot three's portion of it as we are presented by Wawa on a Wawa Wednesday here on this. Part of the show. So let's look at these numbers as well from 21 22 to 22 23. Harry's Maxie shot on catching shoot three is again. Well, you know, you had some other players on the team. 56% of three point attempts. Any shot 45.8% on on this makes a four. That time frame from 23 24 to current time right now. 37.4% on a percentage of three point attempts. And 41% cow from three on catching shoot three. So as we talked about all those players that he's going to have now.

I've with him out there on the floor. Might have some more space to catch those shots and make those shots. Yes, but I do. I agree with I would circle back to what Derek said earlier. To me, the more meaningful thing is the volume than the efficiency. Like if he makes 40 plus percent of his catching shoot attempts, you're going to take that if it's 41 if it's you would rather be 45 or 46. But if it's in the 40 41 42, that is more than good enough on the volume that he's going to be at to drive and elite offense. The more important thing is can they turn some of these shots that are, you know, difficult step backs hand in the face, defender draped all over him into the van, the kick out from the bra and the swing pass out of a joel post up. Jalen Brown gets double teams and he passes it out one pass away to Tyrese Maxx. And it's a natural even if it's semi open catching shoot three, I think that ultimately will

benefit him because you're turning even if they're pretty good shots for him. You're turning pretty good into great into elite into a skill that as Derek has pointed out, he is one of the best in the league, the best in the world at like Tyrese is good at a lot of things. Tyrese is great and you know, best in class type stuff in this area. This is what his real superpower is. And the thing about shooting for him is that it also unlocks everything that happens underneath. Like he's faced questions at times about, you know, his handle is is it creative enough? I believe we got a super chat that we can address at some point about, you know, why is his floater not been, you know, quite as prominent or efficient or mature. And those are because number one, it's just a tough shot. It's hard on bigger volume across years for that to always be good. But again, when you can get in this catching shoot rhythm and teams are always going to defend

those shots like chase after you hard and you create those tough closeouts and teams are stretched out because hey, we had to double the brunt and now we're rotating and now we got to, you know, X out and get to the weak side and now we're on our third and fourth cycle of a possession. That only makes it easier for Tyrese to turn what could be a catching shoot into a very quick one, two dribbles and he's at the rim, just power dribble or even if it's a the shot you love, Devon, the one, two, triple pull-off where I got to beat the initial defender, but there's still two or three guys waiting for me at the rim. That's a good, you know, break the score and break up the defense or against the zone, right? Sometimes you're going to have to step through and find that pocket of space in the soft spot of the defense. So I think the more catching shoot-throughs that he gets, it'll not only be good for him, it'll be a sign of the healthy offense because it means other guys are creating, other guys are drawing bodies and drawing attention and it

will say a lot about how scattered and how stretched out the opposing defense is going to be. Nope. No, and like it's at two-cow's point, you want to generate as many of those catching shoot shots as you can in part because for his career, so again, we're talking about thousands of attempts. Tyrese shot 42% as a catching shooter and 34% off the dribble. 34% might sound bad, but it's actually good for an off the dribble shooter, especially one who's creating a lot of his offense himself and especially for a six-foot-two guard who's got to create space. A lot of those are coming from stepbacks. Stepbacks are very, very tough. The key is to generate more easy shots for him, which you can now do because you have LeBron James and Jalen Brown. You know, I think this is going to be a, it's still, it's probably going to take until about mid-December before it feels real. Like it's not like a one game or two games. It's going to take a little while before I'm used to saying all of that, but I do think it is going to be, you know, it should make everybody's life easier.

It's certainly going to create easy shots for everyone. The exciting thing is that Tyrese is probably one of the best equipment to actually make those easy shots at a very consistent pace. What's it because you just did it again and this is done every week on social media and on the show of, I still can't believe LeBron James is a sixer. And what are you going to be like when we are media day and you're sitting right in front of you and you're asking the questions or he's walking around while we're on the floor conducting our conversations with the player. What are you going to do? Man, I mean, I mean, this is where I'm glad that like we had like meeting Dr. J and meeting Charles and meeting Alan. Like kind of got that, oh my God, that's X player out of your system. Yeah, it's more that like, it's not like I can't fathom meeting LeBron James. It's more, he's in a state. He plays for your team. Like, that's wild. That's what I do. It is going to be a little weird for me because I was like a legitimate kid and fan when LeBron came into the league.

Like I remember all the, you know, ESPN, the magazine articles. I saw him play in Trenton against Carmelo Anthony at a, you know, high school tournament. Like I followed his whole career and like you don't have to think about that person being someone that you're covering professionally, right? It's just like, this is a dude that I thought he was amazing. He was incredible to watch. Well, I'm about to, and now it's a little bit of a different experience now. You got to, you got to reign it in and think about it's a professional capacity. So I like, I think it's possible to, you know, have had that experience and have grown up with LeBron and the role that he's in. And now turn the page and we get to write about and talk about his, his final chapter here. There are not many people left who I watched as a fan while in college while I was in college and got to cover. In fact, LeBron's the only one. So it is a little bit of a different, different

and Bri has said before, you know, she had, Brian Jersey. I had his merch from like every team he was on. I was a huge LeBron fan growing up. So we can't wait to wear on the floor in LeBron's walking by. And Bri is like, oh, I'll be cool. I'll be. I think I'll be a pro here. That was when I was like 10. Yeah, absolutely. It's going to be a good time though. But again, as Derek said, Brian James is a six everybody makes all of our jobs a little bit easier, including Tari's Maxi. And that's why we were talking about it here with the Catcher Shoot 3s for Tari's Maxi on a while, while Wednesday presented by Wawa. You can sit back and have that, Sizzley and say, you know what? Hmm. Bacon egg and cheese. Coffee and cheese. Pancake, Sizzley bacon egg and cheese. Coffee or tea, whatever your preference is. Not all the coffee. Yeah, we have some caffeine dissenters in the. We do. I can't, I don't understand how you guys function in life. Well, you know, I went a long time in life without being a coffee or a major caffeine guy. Once you start, it's pretty tough to go back. I still am only on to like, I have

a morning coffee and that's it. I'm not like multiple cups a day. We'll see if I cross that awful bridge at some point in the near future. We got a lot of late games this year, man. There was actually a prime time, maybe prime time. There was actually a point while I was camping because campings were like, like if I'm ever going to quit something like that week is probably it's like a natural detail. Yeah. I'm like, maybe a quick coffee. It didn't last the ride home like the drive home I had multiple cups of coffee. Well, while you're having that Sizzley or that pancake Sizzley that that's good. That's there. Wawa or your coffee or tea and you sitting back and you saying, man, the bronze aims is on my basketball team. And that's what we're talking about here on the PHY 6 is podcast final segment on the other side, discussing Terry smaxy and the impact, of course, with the addition to the squat and some news and notes for you here on this Wednesday to Wawa Wednesday. Let's get to, we got two now, super chest. And by the way, Jim G said never had coffee in 58 years of life. Why do you hate yourself? I wouldn't say that. I think if you've gotten this far, clearly, no, that works for if you've gotten this far, like don't add any addictive life, addictive. I would say I'm on the other side, I say salute to Jim for never having to resort to caffeine. That's crazy. I congratulations. I don't understand you. I've had coffee. You guys know, it's just not my go to my go to is T. So, but yeah, interesting. It's the eight years about that. Jack Reacher with the Super Chat saying, can you explain the decline as Kyle mentioned this a little bit briefly earlier?

And Maxi's floater efficiency effectiveness from last year. Is it as simple as too many minutes? Is used to being an elite weapon for Tari's Maxi? So, what do you believe that has kind of why the numbers have gone down a little bit? Well, I think probably he focuses a lot less of his work on that compared to when he was a young player. I think that was a big staple and feature of his game. And I think one of the big things that happened when he thought that the league was you got to get up a lot of threes. That's the nature of how the sport has evolved even during that that window he's been in the league. So, that's a little bit of it. I think there's probably a fatigue factor. I also think it's and we've talked about this. It's a high variance shot, even if you're very good at those people don't generally take a lot of them for a reason. You're on the move and you're most of the time taking those while you're in traffic. Those are not shots that most people can hit at a consistently high level. It's going to be up and down. So, I think it's

probably a combination of factors. I think the important thing is that it's still there. It's not that he can't take them or can't take them anymore. And it's a nice thing to have, but not need to rely on it all the time. Yeah. No, I would say it's probably a combination of he has to do a lot more. So, he's got a little bit tired legs. Yeah. There hasn't been great spacing lately. So, maybe there's there more contestor. At least there's more people rotating over and also just variance. Like, I don't think he fundamentally got worse at it. I think it's probably just they've been tougher shots and he's a little more tired. Yeah. A little tired tougher shots because of the personal around him. So much attention on him where they play him a certain way. So, they cut off. Maybe he would get him in a certain spot of the paint a little closer to the paint versus maybe a few feet, you know, back where it's not as as as easy as a shot as it used to be. But maybe that will change this year because of who he's going to have out there. And is that it going into traffic and just going against these tall trees? Still up and running runner, a little floater here and

there and make that again part of the weapon. And you know the next part of that again. Jack is once you get in there, you make a couple. Now you just they think you're going to do it. You just take one extra dribble and then you will finish at the room because after you do make a few, you're getting ready to go into that motion. You just take that one extra dribble or then that becomes a euro step. We go around the defender and lay it up as well. So it's still a weapon. It just hasn't fallen as much and maybe that will change again this year. Thanks for the super chat though, Jack. We appreciate it. Nail Christian says random questions. Since me and Bri are on this break. I mean, this game of thrones journey. Nail Christian is finally watching breaking bad. So what are other popular shows that you have not watched? Nail Christian has not watched power. I never watched power either. Just didn't get into it. I just didn't have any interest in it. Breaking bad. I have not watched breaking bad. I always lost. Yeah, I just wasn't

interested. It's just like right. It's just power a period piece. No, okay. Well, now, well, no, it's not a period piece. It was it was current. So didn't watch that breaking bad. We were talking about this one. We're breaking bad because in the beginning, when I first saw the first episode, it was I watched it in full and it was good. But I was like, man, that's how from Malcolm in the middle. And that is. Yeah, you've got to get over that. Yeah. Yeah. And so I didn't get over that and I didn't go back to it. I will say, I think his acting is good enough. He convincingly, but I didn't know that though at that time, because he was he was Tim Wattley and he was how? Yeah. So those are actually one of my best friends, sales pitches to me. He's like, you liked Malcolm in the middle. Now imagine that guy is Pablo Escobar. So I think if you give it a season, he will convince you that he is. Oh, I'm sure. Yeah. I'm a big fan of his work, but at that time, and I just never went back to it.

So it was what it was. Gene said as this question came down that all the popular HBO shows, that's not true. Because I'm a big wire person. We've talked about that plenty of times on the show. I loved to entourage when that was in his peak. I watched that in his entirety as well. So some of the other popular HBO shows, no, I haven't watched them. There's just a lot of TV. And I just just like to. Through like season four. Oh, you got to use that. So I am going to finish it. Yeah. Yeah. Because I keep going back to it. I keep going. I've mentioned this before. I've never watched the wire. And like that's criminal. It's been all my like to do list for like 15 years. And I don't know. I've just never been able to like actually get started on it. And everyone I've ever talked to is like, that's an incredible show. Fantastic. Yeah. And it seems like it's right up my alley because I'm a drama guy. Yeah. I just haven't started it. And the other one. Better call Saul. I love writing bad. Love it. I watched like the first four or five episodes better call Saul. Never finished it. Also,

Jean, I'm a big Kirby enthusiast. I'm guy. That was HBO. So I watched all of that. And I want to get to better call Saul. I just haven't got to know. I'm one of the hipster better call Saul is better than breaking bad people. So how many seasons is that one? All it's like five or six if I remember. I'm also like. So I once I start something with the exception better call Saul. I don't know why I dropped that. But for the most part, I don't drop it. It was slow early is. Well, I think something with life got in the way. And I just never got back to it. But once I start something, I usually like I'd never give it up. And I usually binge it. So like there's like a barrier. The barrier for me to start something is pretty high. Because I know once I get started, I'm just going to go right through it. And I've just never gotten around to be like making the commitment for those two shows, even though I want to. For me, I have seen most of the shows that people generally consider in the like the pantheon of shows like the top or whatever, 10 to 15. No, on the drama side, I can't say I've seen all the the comedies. The ones that are on my list that I need to get to that are well thought of,

I would say, are justified. The shield and the Americans are three big ones that are like whenever I have the time to watch an entire show, let alone three all the way through are up there. I know this. Yeah, it's the the ball. Michael Chico's. Yeah, I saw that. Yeah, I saw that. Michael something. I check. Chico's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So those are the three. But like I've seen sopranos, wire, breaking bad, better call saw, the leftovers, madmen, succession, episodes, I never lose. Game of Thrones. That's like eight, right? Yeah. Then do you watch like even when they have those A and E? What was the A and E show? It's like that was a big one. Songs of anarchy. Sounds of anarchy. Did you watch that? I did not watch that. Okay. But that was big. It was big. Yeah. I was so that's where we get into like if are we talking about popular or critically claimed or does it have to be kind of both?

I don't know. Cause like I never watched the walking dead for a couple of years. And that was on for like 811 seasons. Apparently. I've never seen a single episode of it. Okay. So yeah, it really depends on that's a very broad question. We would have to. What was Jason Bateman? Was it um, Jason Bateman show where they were in his wife were. Oh, oh, yeah. I never watched that. I love it. Um, you said like three words. But I know that was good. I mean, he's in arrested development. Yeah. That's a pretty big show. Yeah. We're mostly sickness dramas and the rest. Yeah. So that's where that's like that was one where I started. I'm like, yeah, it feels like a, it feels like a, you know, a low rent breaking bed. It was actually really good. It's actually really good. Okay. I'm working on a lot of the Apple shows like Severance. I love pluralist season one. I really like this was so good. I love people are not super in on it. Yeah. The pilot was so good and then people are, I think it's a slow bird. Yeah. But I'm excited for season. I'm a big Ria C. Horan fan if you can't tell from my

better call. So yeah, but yeah, Apple's got some bangers, honestly. Severance, I need to get back up on silo. They've got some good comedies on there. Um, every once in a while, I'll watch that for all mankind space show. Mm hmm. It's like, I, there's a joke. There are a meme that goes around. It's like Apple just spending billions of dollars and losing money and giving people good TV. All these other companies are just trying to merge into one more fist entertainment company. The one good thing Apple has done I suppose. Yeah. Anyway, there's a lot of TV show. So that's a, so I've missed a lot just to answer that question too. So I'll catch up on some of the things that that I'll catch up on. Here's a question for Devon only as we go into overtime here. Make sure to check out our phil.com if you're watching us on fast. Thank you very much. The conversation will continue over under 0.5 Star Wars shows watch shows only so

no movies under zero watch. I would say I've seen very little of all the like people are always like you got to watch and or even if you don't like Star Wars. Yeah, it never seen it. It definitely holds up even if you I have heard it's great and I'm not dismissing it. It's just like I think after the most recent what is this the how do we refer to the most recent trilogy of Star Wars? sequel trilogy. The sequel trilogies. After that final movie, I was like I need no I think I need like a decade detox from Star Wars. That was so fucking I think the sequel trilogy was just hot garbage like it really like it not only was they disappointed it. It's really bad pissed me off. I do think what they do with TV is so much better like the only good stuff to come out of Star Wars in the last 15 years has been on TV. How many there are nine main Star Wars movies divine how many do you think you've seen or do you know these things? I saw the first few early when I was younger and then

I have it. I saw one one of the more recent ones. You know which one I don't know which one it was. I was just watching it. It was on. So I watched it just to give it a chance. It was fine, but it didn't it didn't make me want to go watch the others. Yeah. So I don't so where do you fall Derrick on the last Jedi? Was that that was episode nine? That's the second one of the sequel trilogy. I'd have to go back and rewatch it which I'll never do because they pissed me off. That's the one that's divisive in that because it's Ryan Johnson is the director and there are a lot of people who love it a lot of people who hate it. I fall on the hate it category but I feel like I don't hate it for the same reasons as most of it has turned into one of those like culture wars. Yeah. Where I'm just like some of these stories don't make any sense. Yeah. What is what's happening? No to your point like the moment I watched episode nine I don't even remember what the name of it is. Is it rise of the sky? Sure. I think I completely shut off that entire time. That is one of the I don't say this

slightly. I've seen a lot of movies and a lot of bad ones. It's one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen. Yes. Well, and it completely like I have no interest going back and rewatching the rest of the trilogy because I know how it ends and it just pisses me off. It's so bad. I completely forget. It's like if you had taken a fan fiction writer and just like given them the opportunity the worst fan fiction writer on the internet would maybe make a better movie and a more like a less annoying concept for a Star Wars movie than what they gave. Yeah. And I remember even even this start of the trilogy. It's like all right. That movie was reasonably okay, but like you made another Death Star really like we're just going back to the old hits and then it got worse from there and it's just real but to your point I'm also I tend to be very much completed. So like with Kyle he's out on game of throwing so like he's not watching House of the Dragon. He's just not doing it. I can't not because I'm invested in that world. I'm semi invested in Star Wars probably just from being a kid, but like I end up watching pretty much everything that comes out to your point like

and or Mando like even some of the animated stuff that's filled in some of the gaps has been really good. You've just got to completely avoid the three main movies like they'd suck. Yeah. So yeah, I've only had three Star Wars of whatever many they are. The big series. How many Harry Potter movies zero? I felt like that was a I saw I saw wizards did not feel like a devon. I'm trying to think of like where we'd had to think of like art types. Breed it. We say we would do this as like a segment. Wizards would be if not at the very bottom. Definitely in the bottom three of what I would think the bottom would be interesting. Kind of wisdom. So you're not know the Witcher I'm guessing right? No. I watch wizards of wavily placed with my daughters. I only I saw one Harry Potter. I've only seen one. Yeah, I think I saw all of them. I did take my sister was really into the movies because she's

a bit younger than me where I was like all over the red all the books. We don't really support this universe anymore. Don't have to get into that today, but I took her to the movies as like a big brother a little sister. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen all me go FN SWAVE said I watched Brian Cranston on breaking bad first. Then went and watch that. I feel like who was this way funny because I'm just thinking what's he doing when he's not on camera? LOL. I feel like that's almost a tougher transition to make because the whole premise of breaking bad right is this good guy normal life. Yeah, who goes bad. So like it's just like an evolution of where he previously was watching him go from Heisenberg to that that's gotta be tough. There is a very funny clip that resurfaced from Malcolm in the middle recently of how I don't even remember what the context was. He's in a courtroom. He's being accused of something. And he's like actually I can prove that I didn't commit this crime because I haven't gone to work on a Friday in like five years. And he has like ticket stuff from the local play. I got a picture

from a log flume at the amusement park. I don't remember. I watched a lot of Malcolm the movies. Really good. So good. That episode we got really into power walk. Yeah. Was a classic. They had all the crazy. Yeah. And yeah, what a great show. His daughter by the way is an actress and she's on the hit show the pit. So go check her out. She's pretty good. Actually, where does where to hospital show? I told you I watched it. I watched the first two seasons of the pit and you were like you couldn't really get into that one. I was forced to watch like ER. Okay. And all of that stuff. So, but I don't seek those out, but they're fine. They're good. Yeah. Hospital shows just not not my bag. Yeah. Not that. They all do respect the clue dog and an ER. Yeah. Absolutely. All right. Let's get to quick news and notes that we get out of here. Everybody. Let's start off with what we have to

just two. Let's get to the food one, Bri. First. Uh oh. And let's see because I think the guys and Bri maybe because I didn't even ask, Bri, you going for this one? The apple cider donuts from crispy cream? Oh, I'm in. I knew you. That's like not even a second. Yeah. It's not even like an apple cider guy, but it's crispy cream. Yeah. Was the date, Bri? You got to get them hot and fresh though. If that sign's not on, which by the way, my wife, Thursday through Sunday, genuinely did not know that the sign meant anything. Boy, they're crispy cream. Yeah. Like when it's in the window and it's lit up, that's how you know that they're hot. She had no idea that was a thing until like a year ago. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't know that either. What? It's like the whole thing. I don't know. Where I grew up, we really have crispy creams. So, no light in the market. Because they just sit in that box. Oh, no. I didn't know. Sorry. Oh, my God. So you think you know people on them. So we said it's Thursday through Sunday. So if you want the, oh, head for said they don't do hot and fresh anymore. Oh, really?

I'm the one who's out there in the market jail for whoever ended hot and fresh at crispy cream. We've got an apple picking place up by us that does apple cider donuts and they heat them up. So I almost feel like I would be cheating on on them. But the whole concept is incredible. I'm 100% on board. Yeah. Okay. All right. That's uh, I'll go to the next one. But are you in? I would try it. Okay. I'm not all the way out because I like apple cider stuff. So I'm fine with that. Um, I would try that one last one. Kyle, this is for me on break. Eric doesn't like this product. Oh, the new Apple 18. So I think I'm so in this has been your ins for. Oh, is this where Apple pretends that they reinvent in the market. Here we fucking go. Android man. You're in. Yeah. I just got a new one. Not that long ago because I had been outdated. And I was like, I know that they're releasing this in the fall. They're leaks basically everywhere. Yeah. I would definitely get one.

But it's not a, uh, it's not a super huge priority for me. I have so many different tech things that I don't need to like, oh, bigger screen. So I can stream stuff. I'll just use my TV or whatever. So Samsung does put out a tweet two hours, two hours ago and says, let us know when you're done reheating our leftovers. I'm pretty sure Derek had one of them. I don't have a Samsung or another. No, it was a Google fold. Yeah. Yeah. So that's that said green bubble Derek's opinion. That's right. I phone duo. That's the new look everybody. If you want to go get it, except I knew we wouldn't get 10 seconds in before Derek had to make a snarky comment about this. Let's see if I get right back. Bring you said you're in. Tell Derek where he's wrong. No, look, honestly, I just, I, if Apple and Android would just come together and just make

everything easy than fine. But I'm not giving up. So my whole thing is I, so I have very strong opinions on Apple, the company. I don't, like if you prefer using Apple, I don't give you shit. Like, that's great. I have your preference. It's weird the way that Apple users tend to think they're the only game. That's what it gets weird to me. No, you're just messing up our group chats. That's really the only use the RCS fucking protocol instead. Why should they change? You're the one who sucks. Actually, Apple's the one who changed and didn't support any standards news and notes. Everybody. You got donuts and phones that we're throwing at each other here on the PHY. Sixers by chance. Ultimately, it's a cell phone. That's really not that deep. Green messages. Unless you're there. Unless you mess it all up. We're here. Let's get to the world famous. It's the role. Thank you, everyone, for being here. Thank you to our two super chatter today.
