Bonnie Wright reflects on 25 years of Harry Potter magic

So the process was kind of quick and fast and quite a whirlwind. I just had two auditions and it was actually my older brother, Lewis, who had the idea and who told me to go an audition

Growing up on the set for 10 years, her childhood was far from ordinary. Working alongside iconic names like Alan Rickman and Dame Maggie Smith. But it was Bonnie's on-screen parents who had the most profound impact on her life. On that first day, on the first film, you know, Julie Walters in that scene. And I think she really saw that I was like, had no idea what I was doing in the sense that I'd never been on a professional film set before. So she really took me under my wing and was really caring and welcoming and made me feel like I should be there. So that was always really special to me. Could you tell me? Good luck. They were all just so good and so great. And so welcoming of us and like, you know, chatted and were interested in what we were doing and what we were learning by being in the films. Not by daughter. 2:08the young actors discovered their futures along with the rest of the world. Close your eyes. We all didn't know the fate of any of our characters really. And as the books were released, still while we were making, the films was really when you found out what was going on. So yeah, it was definitely a surprise. Yeah, definitely had runs texting me before I got to the moment like, wait, have you read page? You know, blah blah, whatever. So yeah, it was a, you know, massive exciting kind of progression for Jenny's character. And it was also, you know, this big kind of like scary thing to dig on their responsibility of the character that kind of like ends up with Harry. It's obviously like a big, big, big, big, big part to to fill. Stupid girl. Harry Potter is dead. Despite wrapping that final film 15 years ago, Bonnie remains tight knit with her on-screen friends and siblings.

3:09I feel like for so many actors maybe who get into this world when they're young, they're often on a set with predominantly older actors, let's say. So it was really lovely to to still be kids and still, you know, become teenagers and do those kind of, you know, just grow through all those very, very important years of your life. And still now it's just such a lovely experience to support each other and what we're each doing, you know, since we stopped filming and that bond is still was there, you know, just same when you meet up with school friends or people that you've known your whole life. Harry. Hi there. Six months you haven't seen me, it's like I'm Frankie first year, only a brother. The fandom of the franchise spans across generations and across the entire planet. Now the star is heading to supernova on the Gold Coast and says meeting fans face to face always feels extra special. What I love the most about it now all these years later is meeting like really young early fans who have like really just got into the series, you know, it feels like

4:13for some reason eight years old seems to be like the age for kids to get really into reading the books. I just like love meeting kids who like they were not even, you know, born obviously when we were making or let alone when the books were published. And I just love like intergenerationally when you go to events like this you get like three or maybe even four generations of like a family that like love Harry Potter and I just love that it continues to go on and it like connects people and you know so many people like find friends through it or find partners through the love of Harry Potter and I just I'm just like always surprised by all the fun heartwarming stories that I get to listen through events like this. My mum's side of the family live in Australia so I get to see my aunt and my uncles and my cousin so it'd be really special. I love the beach, I love to surf, I love to eat good food, I like to be outside and I just feel like yeah, obviously it's full of that.
