Well Tommy Novak's audition on the voice saw all four coaches spin those big red chairs in a flurry when he performed his Fleetwood Mac cover listeners Will have been a friend of changing And last night as part of team Richard the musician took the stage again for the knockout round again Wailing the coaches and the crowd You know it's good when Ronan leans forward and goes oh Now with a position confirmed in the quarter finals Tommy is one step closer to take and home the title hey rock star
That's a go in good morning Absolutely so beautiful. I mean I'm sure you could hear a pin drop in that audience when you were singing How did it feel though for you? Even just watching that back I was going back to that moment of that that quiet You know because it is such a still song And the words I'm singing all by myself. So I really felt those lyrics. Yeah, yeah, you're even whispering now, which is really There's not much more serious in the knockout rounds right? No more fun stuff. This is serious now. Yeah, you up against Liam and Jessica What did you think about this group that Richard put together? I mean incredible Like all the art of some Richard's teams. Yeah, just phenomenal and so you know There's a couple like Tika for example. I was like, please don't team me up with Tika like this is too much Yeah, but Jessica and Liam Pretty strong performances and so I watched them do their songs and then I just had to go on and just do my thing and I'm really obviously happy with how it went
I made you should be so okay Let's just go back to the first episode though when you had all four years term which just must have been absolutely mind blowing in that moment Then you were able to perform with Richard Marx singing a John Farnham classic. I mean tick tick tick tick Take us through that like that is just peak At least now. I mean you can I don't know if you can tell I'm still It still doesn't feel real in a lot of ways To be standing on that stage not only with Ronan but with Richard as well and to to have that moment where we connected over Our mutual love of John Farnham I mean is one of the the greatest really is yeah, and so that was a really special special I spot in the quarterfinals now locked in it's a lock what can we expect to see and hear from you now Well look, I mean one of the things that I was really it's really important to me when I went in the show is that I wanted to be able to play an instrument So obviously it's called the voice Australia, but I'm really passionate about getting involved in the nitty-gritty of the song and arranging it So you may see me playing an instrument whether it's guitar or piano
Because it's served no Kazoo Larry it's just sorry Larry but try angle That's my other favorite ways to cut through Well see, but like I say I mean I just I'm really really excited to get involved in the arrangements of the songs and You know Richard entrusting me with a song like all by myself was such a such a special moment to have and For the for the quarterfinals that you know, it's another epic song as well. I mean this is it for you right the music business So you left a job corporate job like this is this is where you're you know gonna go So really I mean I stepped away from a job that I'd been in for 18 years. Oh really? 18 years 18 years working in the public service. Yeah, so You know very proudly working in that space and in some ways I feel like I'm stepping into another service role You know as a as an artist and a performer so this just feels like what I'm meant to be doing if I'm honest I love it so much And that was the yes I heard for the triangle too. I just You can't come in but I did hear that Something just we're gonna stay trained for that. Hey good luck. We're logged into this series well done. Thanks guys
