1:14We wish it was a football Friday. We got all going on. It's any St. Patrick's Day that I missed out on? No, right? Oh, no, I think today is just a day to celebrate celebrate wearing green. Celebrate green. You know, it's not easy being green. It's not easy while I'm a Jets fan. I know, trust me. Yeah, no, I know, you know, that sounds like and we're not going to really launch off into here. Sounds like the Jets, maybe somewhat fascinated by Ty Simpson. Maybe while you did T's, you did T's yesterday that we'll talk about that today. So there you go. And there you have it. So now we talked about that. We just forgot that's why I'm wearing the green today. Maybe I was paying off your T's for you. You know what? This is why you're the ultimate teammate and I'm solely the Bozo. No, maybe that's why. That ball more than a little NFL because the Jets are going to have a private workout with one Ty Simpson. We're going to do that tomorrow. And here we are. Did I pay off my T's? Yeah, he did. Right, you can't say I don't pay it off. Yeah, it's a full day T's. I love it. Yeah, I couldn't sleep last night because the Bozo commentary.

2:15It bothered me. It bothered you. It bothered me. It did, yeah. So think about how I feel. We meet with a prospective partner starting up beautiful partnership and he calls it all the athlete, the gorgeous athlete and the Bozo. I know sometimes they play the athlete and the Bozo. Our show is getting very upset. RJ, do you get the sense that maybe that's what Dave was giving off? Like he thought that this, how could he actually ask a question like this? Maybe this is part of like the Bozo routine that he does? I think he has a lot of respect for Dave. No. And I think the question caught him. So how would you know you're lying though? Yeah, the question caught him so often. You know, you know, you know he doesn't have a lot of respect to me. For me, he referred to me as the Bozo. But I think he thinks to Rick's point, you're playing the bit. He's like this man who asked that question. He just, he's, he's, he's in character. That's what he believes. I don't think the question was bad. Because, because no fully functional person would be like,

3:16hey, how hard is that thing? How hard is that thing to claim? No disrespect to him. I think he's a Bozo. Why are we doing this right now? I bet there is, I was going to start the show saying, there is nothing you could do today that's going to put me in a bad mood. Nothing. I didn't care the mix lost. What, why not? I know Ray doesn't. Ray doesn't think it's a big deal at all. I, Ray, I asked him earlier, and he just shrugged it right off. They made me every excuse in the book. It doesn't matter to me. And you know exactly why it doesn't matter to me. Because I got to listen to these two. Yesterday, tell me how the Yankees are going to go 162 and 0. They're all excited. And then my team comes out against Paul Skins and got anything less than ending. No, two thirds of an inning. Has he raised over 100? That's what I'm talking about. That's right. Oh my God. So, Peralta, you know, two run homers, soft two run homer too. Because when we hit that boy, like, all right, there we go. That's one out, leaves the park. And immediately, my thought is, oh my God, they're going to lose. How are you going to score three runs against this guy? Okay, but here's the thing though. As excited as we were about Peralta,

4:18the second Lyle hits that home run. Remember what they said during the broadcast? What happened to him last opening day? He was on the mound for the whole torpedo bat thing. Right. Yeah, I was like, oh no, it was going to be one of those days. Right. Well, they had the same thought. And then the home run, you're down to nothing. You start to think, like, it couldn't have gotten off to a worst start. No, not against Paul Skins. Not like that. You get Paul Skins to run. He's, if not the best pitcher in baseball, the second or third best pitcher at all of baseball, guys in animal, he was great in the world baseball class again. Against, you know, great competition. And you know what he's capable of. And to go out there, and I know that a couple balls were misplaced in centerfield. I do. Oh, still. O'Neill Cruz is easy. That's kind of butcherish out there in centerfield. Throw some sunglasses on, bud. Oh, he doesn't, he might not like sunglasses. Well, I mean, I don't like watching you. I don't like watching you lose balls in the sun. Well, I don't like, you know, driving through the city at four o'clock in the morning, but sometimes you got to do things you don't like to do. Right.

5:19I like to be in, I like to be in bed right now. I got to show up and I got to go to work. Doesn't like, I mean, listen, if you're, if you're hauling in baseballs across the outfield, and it's like he doesn't like sunglasses, okay, I find that to be odd, because it's very sunny. But if he can make it, you can't do it, buddy. You're misplaying everything. I mean, he came in. Apple was right over his head than the other one. I mean, he went into the last second to put his glove over his face. We could actually see it. Luckily, I mean, listen, good for us. But hey, I mean, again, they ended up finally coming up with a stat as to like, you know, how bad this was actually for screens because you've never seen anything like this before. No, and it's like, wow. I mean, could this go, could this have gone any better for why it's essentially a new team, right? Like, I mean, the nine position players, there's five new ones, right? I mean, you got guys you haven't seen, you haven't seen. The right. And to have it turned out the way that it turned out,

6:19and then to top it off, kind of like the cherry on top of it was, we're all excited about Carson Benj. His first couple of bats, he looked overmatched. I don't know if he's nervous or whatever it is. He's a bit understandably so. Completely, listen, completely. He ends up hitting a home run. I mean, I think, and again, you don't know, I think you're going to fall in love with him. He seems like the kind of kid that's going to be really easy to root for. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I watch some of his, watch some of his games in the spring. I was excited and he deserved. Everyone's like, well, what are we waiting for? And then it turns out we're waiting for it because we're going to make it a fun story and everyone to see the K. I don't know why that turns you off so much. Well, it doesn't turn, it doesn't turn you off. I don't know why they're calling them into the clubhouse or going out to the mound. Well, no, because now we're doing the one-up thing. Well, no, because now we're doing the one-up thing. Now it's like, okay, I'm going to go, I'm going to come up for a mound visit and tell you and surprise you on the mound. What's next? I don't like these things. Yeah, but now we're doing like, let's find a better moment. Next thing you know it, there's a hand on a skateboard that's coming out to announce that you're...

7:21No, I don't like that. I don't know. I want that Burj Kretschmer guy. I don't want that. I don't need any of that stuff. But I like those when it's like, they tell you that you made the team or they tell you in some special way. Or RJ Ray, are you guys anti-erpro like that fun way of telling kids that they made the team? I like it. I don't mind it at all. Right, see, Ray, you know what you are? You're the Grinch. Who is? What? You said Ray. No, I'm at Rick. I'm not the Grinch. I'm not the Grinch. I'm not the Grinch. I'm not the Grinch. No, I'm not the Grinch at all. I think that we're all trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Why have they announced that Carson Benj is on the team yet? Because they want to have the fun moment. Because they wanted to have the fun moment. Yeah. Is that for his benefit? Is it for their own social media benefit? Well, which one? I don't know, maybe both. Probably both. OK, so what's wrong with that, though? There's nothing wrong with it. I don't need you going out to the mound, though, and doing it. I think that's a great story. Stop it, please.

8:23I think you're in the minority. That's fine. I don't care. OK, that doesn't bother me. OK, I mean, that's a forever moment now. When you tell your kid, hey, they called me and said, you made the team. Right. Call someone into the office and telling them and filming it is that's great. Right? It's a moment half of the rest of your life. But now it's turn to, hey, how can we, how can we one up this one? Let's walk out to the mound and tell them. I don't have a problem with it at all. Well, I think it's an extra special moment. I think I actually, when I saw that, it's contrived. It's a fake moment. I don't think so. You're doing it because you want to try to one up with it. I don't think so. And when I saw it the other day with you, I don't think so. I was like, oh, this is really cool. You don't think so. You don't think that was the thought. I didn't think so. I didn't think so. OK. That was just in that, that just in the moment was like, you know what you should do right here? No, I'm not saying that you didn't have it on the mind. But, but so what if it's planned? It's a nice moment. It's a cool moment. It's a forever moment. I'm not saying it wasn't scripted, but why is it such a bad thing even if it was scripted like that?

9:23I don't think it's a bad thing. I mean, I, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It's great for the kid. It's awesome. OK, it's just, I mean, it's, I know why they're doing it. We understand why they're doing it. It's not because they're like super excited to make this great moment. Yeah, it's very self-serving. I think it's, I think it's self-serving. And I also think it's, it's to make the moment special for the person. I think it's, I think it's, it's some of that with a lot more of, hey, let's, let's really make a moment here. You're not so cynical. I've also been, I've also been in the business. So you would have hated that. No, I would have been, I would have been pumped and I made the team. Also, I mean, I don't need to be used as a prop. Like, this is my, it's my moment. Like, this is like, this is the biggest day of my life. I don't need you to, to, to use it to prop up how great you guys are. Look at how awesome we are. I don't, I don't think it's propping up how great we are. It's, look at how special we made this. It's exactly what it is.

10:24I don't see it like that. It's the same thing as all these parents like that have their kids do stuff on video. Oh, great. My kid is, a great parent I am. That's what it is, man. I don't see it like that. I don't know how you, I don't know how else you could see it. I, Ray, do you see it like that? It's a great moment, they don't need to, they don't need to play, they don't need to, there's no reason outside of search, like the self-serving thing like, hey, look at how awesome we are is to, to film me getting told I made the team. Well, I think you make it more memorable. It sounded like you were going to say something else there for a second. How about this, film it and give it to me. No one else needs to see it. It's my moment. I get where Rick's coming from. I just, here we go. No, no, no, no, because I agree with you. I like the moment. You can't be stupid. I like it. I like the moment. I like the moment and I think Rick does too, but Rick clearly Rick feels that the whole thing is contrived and it's all for show and it's not really for a club. They don't care about you. It's not actually for the players where it's for them, because they don't care about you. There'll be the first ones to cut you in the struggle. You think you would get it with, with Volpy, just all about Aaron Moon. Yeah, but it was more private, you know, like filmed,

11:24it was filmed, but like the actual like thing was done in private. Again, I don't mind it, but I like it. I like it. I like it. I like it. I like it. I like it. I like it. I like it. I like it. You guys have also not been in those situations where you've been called into the office and told the other side of this, or told, hey, we love you so much and you're great, and you made it and then turn around and set me down. You know what this is? Like your piece of garbage with you. No, but this is the reality. Like, then this is fun now. It's awesome. Hey, they must really love me until they don't, they told his business now and they don't. Like, say Quan Barkley realized, this is business. They're all full of bleep. I may have some good relationships, but like when push comes to shove, this whole relationship is transactional. And the second I can't help them, they're done with me. That's what bothers me about it. All right, they partake in my moment and then they'll be the first one.

12:25They then they'll be the first ones to give me the other side of that moment whenever it suits them best. That's business. That's what it is though. That's what it is because it's business. Okay. So don't make how this though. Don't make this big thing where it's so it's all, hey, we're so sensitive. We love you. This is great, huh? And then because that's all what it is. Let's make believe. All right. Well, I like it. You're a little turned off by it. Guys seem to be. I'm not saying that I don't, I don't feel one way. Like I'm not turned off by it. I just, I mean, you need to recognize why they're doing it. They're doing this is, this is for their benefit. This is to create traffic to their social media. It's not because it's your moment. It's because it gives them content to post. Okay. But that's what it's about. I think it's cool. I think it's nice. I think it's a great moment for these players that are finding out that that's the way they make the team. Well, how else do you think they find out by like carrier pigeon? This is how you find out. This is not, this is not new. You just get to see it now.

13:26They, they typically don't go out to the mount until guy. Well, that's because now it's a fun game. How can we do it? I don't know. I like it. Maybe we'll have to, there's someone jump out of the helicopter plane and deliver the message. All right. Let's, let's talk about the mess. Grrrr. And, and when we talk about the mess, here's the thing that I know. And again, it's one game. You're crazy. It's great. It's awful. It's brutal. Whatever. It's beautiful. This lineup has the potential to be a real problem. A real problem. All right, there's more athleticism here. The bot, you have Alvarez hitting ninth in this lineup. And again, I know he had a good game yesterday. You don't know that's going to hold every single night, every single day. But I'm just saying first glance, my initial reaction with this team is this lineup has a chance to be really, really special. I don't disagree with you. I think that the thing we focused on the most and it may be part of it was the emotions involved in it, was what you were losing with Pete. Like the power, like the home runs that you get to lose with Pete.

14:26And then you look at some of, I mean, what Palanco did in the combination of him and Bishet. I mean, it's different. It's definitely a different lineup. It's going to make you work. It's more of a bat the ball. It forget, I mean, Alvarez batten nine. That was semi and batten seventh. That's amazing. Right? I mean, if it was semi and seventh, if Buster had what? Did Buster have Carson Benj be in the MVP? Rookie of the year, yeah. You got that and then you have Alvarez if he stays healthy? Right. You have Alvarez. 79th. I have a feeling. And again, I know it's your initial like for eight inches. I have a feeling people, if he stays healthy, are going to really like Lewis Robert or Luis Robert. Yeah. I think they're going to like him very much. Bishet, that at bat was unbelievable. I know it ended in a strikeout, but I mean, he just, you couldn't, you couldn't get to him in that at bat. He's going to make you work like you mentioned. Palanco in the cleanup spot. I don't think it's like your typical cleanup guy. We're like, oh God, hey, everyone getting the room quickly. Palanco's up. But I just think he's a good, solid batter. And you're not going to have that kind of start this year

15:27from Soto. He's going to start in a much different way. You got Lindor was on base every time yesterday. I just, my first reaction to that Metz game was, this is going to be, this is going to be a good lineup. What do you mean Soto? It's not going to get off that kind of start. Did you mean Soto when you said that? Last year, he was awful. Oh, last year, he was awful. Yeah. That's how you mean yes, I thought you meant the game yesterday. No, no, no, last year, he got to get it off to the same kind of start that he did last year, this year. I don't think so. Right. I got to believe that that was locked in. I mean, just new scenery for that. Right. So I'm not worried about that. I, Lindor, you know, that's what you want for me to lead off guy is just to be on base. And he was on base. And he was on base constantly yesterday. A lot of traffic on the base pass. So, you know, again, it's hard to sit here and analyze one baseball game unless it has massive meaning. But one game, one start, got to one of the best pictures in baseball and met her want to know. Oh, well, I mean, listen, it's not, it's one game of 162. But I think that when you go into, and I don't care what the sport is,

16:28when you go into, you know, the first game of the season, and you watch the team throughout the spring or preseason and have some questions. And those, and those questions are a problem in the first game. I think there's reason, I think you're well within you right to be like, oh, I don't know if I love this. Like if, and it wasn't, it wasn't pretty. The throw over for the from Bichette to Polonko, but Polonko came off, made the tag. That was not pretty. It wasn't great. But he got the job done. Like if he's booting the ball around a third or Polonko's booting the ball around at first, like things that you thought could be a problem. If that game's close and Devon Williams comes in and blows a save. Like then they'd be like, oh, like, I, hmm. Yeah, this was my fear now. It's, it's, you know, showing itself in game one. I'll tell you what I did what of all the analysis and lot of positivity and, and all that. Polonko at first looks a little, I mean, on the ground balls, he was kind of booting those all over. Now he made the plays, but it didn't look easy

17:28and it didn't look seamless. No, I don't think it did either. But, and you said this yesterday, you have, you have Brett Beatty who's taken a lot about, he's done a lot of work at first, done a lot of work in the L field and then third basis is natural position. Right, so if Polonko does struggle at first base, I mean, just naturally you would have Polonko as a, you know, D.H., and then you could have Beatty at first. Who's better defensively? I mean, Beatty's not a D.H. Beatty, no, Beatty's a good fielder. Right. If he's not that good, you would, you would want to find a way to get Beatty onto the field. Right, I just think that it was, I mean, it's game one. You brought Polonko in to be a first baseman, right? But Shets, I think there's a better chance that Beatty plays first in Polonko is your D.H. And Shets, those are the third. I, listen, after one, and it can, it's one game, I don't think that would bother me. It's one of the four works. It never matters. I don't care the, the way you get to the finish line, just get to the finish line. Well, no, but it's just a bit, it's,

18:28it's not as easy as everyone makes it fit. It's like, hey, just put the guy who's the worst, like the best bat, but the worst fielder at first base. It's not that easy. You can hide guys a little bit. You, you really can't hide guys now. You put, I'll just put, put the guy that can't catch the ball in right field. Well, no, that's going to catch up to you. That's why they can't play Jason Dominguez in the major leagues, right? Like, I'll just put, he's not a good fielder. Stick it in first. Well, but that's, but that's because Jason Dominguez didn't hit well enough to deal with them. Well, enough to, to make sense to play a guy with a bad bat, right? I mean, a bad glove. Right, so I put, I mean, you have options, which is good. I mean, Brett Beatty's a nice piece to have. If Brett Beatty hits, and you have the ability to move him around, it's great. And they sent Tommy Fan before the game yesterday. I don't know. I saw that left. You better watch out. Fantasy football. I know. You ready? We should get him into our league. I don't want you to reach out. You couldn't handle him in your league. Why not? I slapped him right in the face. You didn't need to slap someone in the face because there wasn't a payment? Yeah. 24:45well are you guys actually it might be the same height i don't think they call it more weirdly now though this again you might be like an inch taller than me maybe wow rj 2212 isn't Alejandro Kirk that was not nice rj's put together nice though beautiful rj's got a nice build on him i think so i i think that especially i have to listen to uh because we we asked brownie what he weighed yesterday and you were startled by his weight but then you look from the way rachel carries it very well well because you look from the waist down like he's got a thinner looking upper body but then once you hit the like once you hit waistline down you can see that we're where the weights coming that's where it carries the weight well if you carry the weight you'd prefer it to be in the bottom half right i did depends yeah i mean rather than like your face or you're all right but if you got i mean if if you're in shorts and you got a big giant give me big giant cancels i mean you don't want that either i guess but i think that's less less of an impediment than just having a huge stomach i you'd rather have fat legs in a fat
