Thanks for having me on. How about yourself? Good, I watched a large part of the second and all of the third period in your two-nothing victory. Matt Tompkins gave you a really good start, Gold, didn't he?

2:02Yeah, he was excellent. We didn't give up as much as we gave up the night before. But when there was a chance, there was a real big one at the end of the first. Actually, Condor Tite Tulio actually and Tom were made a hell of a save to keep it all one-nothing. Yeah, absolutely. James Hamlin. That's an awesome year for you, isn't it? You know how I feel about James Hamlin, Bob. Yeah, 23 goals this year. Kills Penelope's for you. It doesn't benefit from being on a pretty good power. See you on the second unit. Sometimes, you know, James, you know, I mean, no. Right now he is, but when Samansky's here, no. When Rem Pitlick was here at the start of the year, no.

3:02And we sat him down and said we want to get you back to the NHL and you're not going to be a power play player if you do that. And he is such a pro when he's like, okay, fine. And he just went ahead and scored 25 on 5. Yeah, which is an amazing total, right? So it really is. It really is. Yeah, you know, but he's worked hard and, you know, I think a couple of years ago, right when Stan first came in, he was, he bulked up a little bit and he did some different things and he slowed down a little bit. And James, I've had this conversation. He's, you know, he, and he had a couple injuries and that kind of stuff. So he's playing just absolutely fantastic. And I think when Stan came in, he, you know, he just, he lost his way a little bit and, hey, you know, it's, you're not going to be incredible every night.

4:03And that young man has got a ton of will, a ton of work ethic. Yeah, all right. How much did you use Josh Samansky on the penalty kill by the way down there? Call him. He's like, it's pretty much, you know, Mac Jones, James Hamlin, Josh Samansky, Quinn gets a little bit and then Daniel DeModel, like, those guys pretty much did, it depends on who's hotter on the face of that kind of stuff. But they're, they're pretty much one, two, three, four over the boards. You really tried to build that, that, that pride from the PK forwards. And so yeah, he gets quite a bit of time. Well, I mean, you're right there. You're in top four in the Pacific Division. It's a good division with a couple really good teams. I know you're off to Texas this week, we're joined by Colin Chock. They're getting the top matchups, you know, Magna, Jason Magna, you know, big two-way center man, Colorado Eagles. Like, he's coming over the boards every time they're out there. So I do what I kind of try to get that away from them, but it's also they got to learn to fight through it too, and no different than, you know, then that's the voice. So, you know, they're, they're, they're good young men. They want to get better, you know, how they've helped their team, their entire life is scoring. And that's what makes them feel good. And, you know, they get that on the power play.

7:11They, you know, both contribute to the night one. And in our past weekend here at Tucson, they went two for three, and Quinn had two looks in the third period that we almost went three for three. As we know, for those players to help do others, they have to be able to provide some bottom six scoring and then do some other things. So those are the areas that we're focused on. And sometimes that might slow them down a little bit offensively. And, you know, those are the conversations like, hey, keep your swagger. You know, when you're fresh and you're feeling it, go for it. And if it doesn't work out, let's just get back really hard and really quick. So, you know, let like anything, right? The league tightens up and all leagues do in the second. And the bottom third of the season, teams are more dialed. Teams are more, are more responsible just because they've been together. And they're working through it. Yeah, absolutely. You miss the man's key when he's up here? Yeah, we really do. He, you know, he sees someone that, like, right from day one,

8:12understood that for him to be an emits an oiler that he needed to, to embrace the penalty kill roll and, you know, hitting blocking shots, winning face-offs. There was no convincing of him. So, you know, that, that's sometimes it exploits the process, I would say, right? So in the beginning, that's, that was my only focus with him. And he wasn't scoring if you go back and look at, he wasn't scoring. He wasn't really confident, skateing with the puck, you know, and the offense started to come later for him. But, you know, really, we miss some of Tony's a 200 foot player. He settles down sometimes the high risk forwards that we have. And they're exciting. Or an exciting team to watch. You know, so he definitely settles it down there, side of the puck. And, you know, he's just, he's responsible. We can play on both part of the playoffs, can play up in the penalty kill, can play really with anybody. And then, you know, the other part is, the kid is always smiling.

9:13Like, I mean, he, it's unbelievable. He always, like, once in a while, he's either like super, super happy, or he gets fired up. And I, I, I personally love trying to get him fired up. And they, you know, bark back at me or, or, or, or one of the guys on the bench, or, and it's just like, it's just being intense. It's not, it's not being combative. It's just he's a competitor. So, you know, those, those two, those two moments are, are just, are, are, are, are, just fun to be around. So I'm happy to see him up there, contributing last night. All right. I hate to do this to you again for the second time in a couple of weeks. We are getting people, not surprisingly, Colin Chalk, Connor Clydenberg became a fan favorite in a hurry in oil country. How far away is he from getting back in your lineup down in Bakersfield? Oh, man, he's, he's, uh, he's one of my favorite players already. Like this kid is, is a throwback. He's a dinosaur. You know what we've talked about it. We love it.

10:13We love it. Yeah, we, yeah, you love it. You, you, I mean, you and I have met many of these conversations offline over the years, and online, um, you know, we're scheduled to see Connor back Friday night. So as long as we're turned to play Friday night in Texas, he'll, he'll, uh, come on, really, he's going to be back that fast. Yeah, that, that's a, we're hoping. He's got to go through, uh, you know, the, uh, he did the, he did the non-contact. He'll go, he'll go non-contact, uh, practice this week, and that's the plan. I mean, but I, you know, it's just, it's day to day, but he is scheduled to be back in play Friday. He'll be in the top nine tomorrow, tomorrow at practice, and that, that's the plan. So we're, uh, he brings another element. We're, we're exciting, we're offensive. Well, we don't really have as someone, you know, looking over your shoulder, and when that young man is out there, he's going to be a nice help player for a long time. If you can figure out how to play hockey and say no to people sometimes, like I said to him, you don't have to say yes every time, but you can say no sometimes. It's allowed. So does he, does he hurt his, he hurt his hand, right?

11:14His hand got caught, right? Is that what happened? Yeah, he just got, it was a weird, you got tangled up in a fight. And really, it was just like a singer, spider, an odd one, but it was a good example to him. It's like, hey, we're on the road and the game is out of reach. And you can say, no, I'm good. Thank you very much. But he, he's, you know, he's a young man and he's, he's, uh, full of confidence and he, and, you know, he knows what he, he also understands that what he to service and the job that he provides, he understands that not a lot of guys are willing to do it. Well, I got a guess that teams might have asked for Conor Clytonberg at the deadline, like instead of a pick, because I think they can see he's going to totally, uh, you know, cap out well, well above a fifth round draft choice. We're joined by Colin Chock. Josh Brown, is he going to be available shortly as well? Hopefully this weekend, maybe one of the games, definitely not both of the games.

12:15So, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that toughness and, uh, you know, it ends up being a, uh, an exciting team, uh, both with gloves on and gloves off. So, uh, yeah, well, you can score. And did you, did I hear this correctly that, uh, Villiammi Marialo played like 22, 23 minutes the other night? Yeah, yeah, he, uh, will, uh, he's, he's a player that's learning the grind of, uh, North American hockey. And, uh, you know, today we, we, we had, uh, you know, we, we gave the guys two days off. And, um, a couple of guys came in and escaped that, had a little minute of skies and that kind of stuff. And he showed up, won the skate today, and I, you know, I talked him out a bit a little bit, but he ended up going in for a workout. So, he, uh, you know, he, he's hungry, uh, and he's, uh, you know, he's got a lot of patience and poise. And, you know, he's got some, some going to do just as far as like, the man's strength, but, um, yeah, he's a, uh, he's, he's, he's been a pleasure of coaching,

13:16and a really exciting player. All right, Colin, uh, so just the two games this week in Texas? Yes, sir, just two in Texas, yep. All right, you're going to split, uh, Cal Pickard and, uh, Matt Tomkins, obviously in those games? Yeah, yeah, I'm not sure who's going to go in, in what, uh, what game yet, but, dad, they'll, they'll get this, they'll, they'll get one on a game each. One thing that impressed us, he made cinemas in his how hard, Calvin Pickard worked, and I, the guy's just a consummate pro, isn't he? He is, he's, he's, uh, I mean, you know, I, I had the opportunity to work with him, you know, before he went back up to Edmonton, and, you know, he, um, you know, the, like the same thing, obviously, you know, the NHL players had the Olympic break, and we had some days off, and, and, and he asked his game as well, you know, so it's like, he's all in, he wants to get back to the NHL, and, and, uh, he knows that he has to work to do it. And I think the, the common denominator is work, and that's the, exactly what, uh, what he's doing while he's here. Awesome stuff. Thank you for your time, Colin.
