And we watched the game last night when 11 innings and and it was such an exciting game and and this last night's game when the Giants won it into the level at the walkoff win was the first of what would be six games that Giants have with the Cardinals.

3:07Rare that you play the team from the National League Central six games in September but such as the case with the Cardinals. But you think about all the history that the Giants of the Cardinals have for one another. The history that we've been a part of and the history that we've talked about for years and years and years. I mean this is one of those series that I really look forward to because it's Blood Baseball. And every year that we've been away from the game, you know, you see the new version of the Giants taken on the new version of the Cardinals and I felt it in last night's game. And to me it was just a great tradition that's been carried on. The Cardinal Giants relationship, it's not a rivalry that's written about but it's a rivalry that's felt with the players when they teed up against one another. Yeah and Mike, look, it started with you early because of your association with the Cobbs being on, you know, those Cobbs teams and their rival obviously you know were the Cardinals. And so that really never changed once you got over here but

4:08you know clearly it's not geographical. Just what happens it had a lot to do with some of the personalities on the Cardinals roster that just didn't mesh with the personalities of the people on the Giants roster. And I mean look, the rivalry started way before Will Clark and Ozzie Smith when Will really was attacked at second base. But that's kind of the way it was. You know there were guys on that team that they just didn't like each other and that carried on over into seasons after that. And if you remember the Giants, they always seem to play the Cardinals in the playoffs. I know you pitched great against the Cardinals in the 87 playoffs to get to the World Series in 2002. The Giants had to go through St. Louis to get there. And then I think by two out of the three years didn't they have to play the Cardinals? They did. And you know remember Travis

5:08Eshikawa'd walk off when the Pintered home run against the Cardinals. That's right. And in Marco Scootero catching the pop up in the rain against the Cardinals. So you're right. There is lots and lots to this Giants Cardinals' rivalry. And look, some of the players now and maybe all of them, you know they don't quite feel that rivalry that we saw and that we still feel. But if you play a team six times in 10 days, you got a pretty good shot of that feeling to be in there. Hey, that's a good app. They go from this homestand to the next road trip. They go three teams to St. Louis and then onto L.A. I mean, it's going to be a tough road trip. But I love the fact that these two franchises have been around forever and they've been good forever. Cardinals have won more World Series championships than any other national league team. The only team that is one more than the Cardinals is the Yankees. And you know, when you go to St. Louis, you're reminded of that every day. And why not? Why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you be proud of that? But the catchphrase

6:12about getting to the World Series for the Giants, you brought up, you've got to go through the Cardinals and that isn't going to change. Well, they're saying the same thing in St. Louis. We got to go through the Giants and it's just the relationship that they've had over the years forever.
