5 Wide Receivers About to Explode in Fantasy (Trade for them ASAP)

0:00We're just a few days away from week one of the NFL season starting, which means fantasy football is here, but your work is not yet done because before week one kicks off, there are five white receivers right now whose value has been tinking and I believe wrongfully so the last couple of days alone, you need to buy low on them before week one. Because once week one comes, you might not be able to let's start with cardinal tape, a rookie at top five pick in the NFL draft. Usually these types of players get all the hype in the world, especially once you start to see them in preseason and training camp, but that has not been the case for car and lta because the Tennessee Titans offense based on camp reports and based on the limited time we've seen them in preseason like a half or so of football has not looked good. If you're not familiar with 80 comes out of Ohio State is only 21 years old when he went to the NFL combine again, he was a top five pick in the NFL draft. When he went to the NFL combine, nobody had anything better to do in March after you know the soup goes over everybody's board. There's nothing to do, no good sports on in my opinion, you know, NBA starting to get towards the playoffs. It's pretty gross anyways. He runs a four five three 40 time. I mean, this is fine. This is average, but everybody right there starts to get this like negative taste in their mouth. Oh, he's slow. Blah blah blah. Yeah, if you watched his film, this guy wasn't a downfield burner. That's not how he won.

1:00As Matt Harman points out here on Twitter, you can see that he says carnaltates prospect profile fire. He says Tate's 77% success rate versus man coverage is the seventh best mark for a prospect since he's been doing this or at least since 2021. And he drops zero passes during that time and posted in all times contested catch. That's what this guy is known for. He's known at beating man coverage, winning contested catches, not dropping the ball. He's not known as Deshaun Jackson or whatever speedy wide receiver that's going to win downfield. Just exactly why the Titans took him five top five overall. That's the type of profile that they wanted an extra seaver for second year quarterback cam wore. Now in college, the stats 875 yards, 733. The last two years on a 15% target share each year. Isn't going to be anything crazy, but he's playing with maybe a guy who's going to go top three. Definitely top five to 10 overall next year in the NFL draft and Jeremiah. I love the wide receiver best prospect. One of the best we have ever seen will probably be relate or compare compared to like Julio Jones in terms of height that they had coming out as wide receiver prospects. But you're going to get carnal tape on this depth chart. And this is after the cut downs based on this recording. This is the most active depth chart. And these are the five wide receivers that it makes sense that they kept.

2:00Obviously they're top five overall pick. Obviously they're big for agent signing Calvin Ridley who quietly apparently had a nice training camp. The veteran outside wide receiver. And then you're going to have the second year players who both had flashes as rookies. And then you're going to have a lot of Jimi or D.K. and Alec I am in or so the end of the day. These are the five wider receivers like carnal tape is levels above Jimi or D.K. and Alec I'm in or my opinion. He's better than this version of Calvin Ridley at 30 plus years old coming off of a season ending injury. And while no Robinson is mostly just a slot wider receiver. Has he seen 140 targets each in each of the past two seasons. One low Robinson. Well, yeah, he was kind of forced to see that last year when everybody on the Giants got hurt in the year before that. The Giants ran a ton of plays. But for the most part, he is a slot wider receiver in this offense. Not the Giants offense last year where he played it some on the outside in this offense. But as I hinted at earlier, carnal tape through two preseason games will now it's been three. But the first two zero catches on three targets. Zero catches on two targets when the starters are out there for a couple of drives. And then in the third game, he has zero catches actually had a drop in that game. So now obviously on this sample that is basically, you know, really two quarters, maybe two and a half, three quarters of play, not even a full game.

3:01People are freaking out because the guy only had, you know, six targets and didn't catchable. Last time I checked six targets in about two to three quarters is pretty dang good. And I'm pretty sure he's not going to end the season with zero catches. Obviously in overreaction, but nobody has anything better to do during the preseason games. I thought this was a pretty good tweet by Nick Suss on Twitter. He says, in case you're curious, here's how carnal tape slow start in the NFL preseason compares to against the last 10 top 10 wider receivers. So this is the last 10 top 10 wider receivers in the preseason. Travis Hunter had two catches on two targets. Teteroma McMillan, who was great as a rookie two catches on seven targets. Marvin Harrison didn't catchable on his preseason. Malik neighbors had four catches on six targets. We know he's great. Like you can see in here, basically outside of Malik neighbors in Garrett Wilson, even Jamar Chase, the Nevada Smith Drake London, those guys didn't do much in the preseason. So obviously everybody wants to get up an arms about carnal tape because of the fact that he just didn't catchable. I'm not worried about that. A lot of other guys didn't catchable in their preseason. It got to the point where like the head coach Robert Sala actually had to come out and say, like, yeah, when it's time to scheme, we'll get guys the rock. They're not scheming in the preseason. They're just getting their legs under them. They're getting something out there.

4:02They're literally playing for two drives and not to win the game. If you want to talk about carnal tape, like in joint practices against the Bears, which a lot of teams, by the way, these days, like, especially the Rams, like they use the joint practices as their preseason. It's a more controlled situation. Some guys aren't out there with the lights on them, getting a little bit nervous. It's just like, okay, here's our starting offense against your starting defense. We don't have to worry about the rules of as much of like, you know, coaches have to stay off the field. Bob, Bob, Bob, like we can kind of see how the game is going. Controlled situation in scrimmages. Carnal tape and that caught seven or 12 targets for two touchdowns. Nobody's going to talk about this because it's just practice. Even though most NFL teams view these inner squad joint practices now as better than preseason games. And I think that's what I think that's what's happening here. Sounds like carnal table. Be moving around the formation, including slot reps to season. We didn't see too much of that in his small sample in the preseason. So that's good to see as well as any of the honey points out. Even if it's just somewhat like even if he's just playing 20 to 30% out of the slot, that would be massive for him as a guy who knows how to win on the outside with contested catches. And then moved into the slot more even more and three wide receiver sets. That's great.

5:03Like he'll get to face a worse cornerback. I'll have more of the field to work with for a talented wide receiver like carnal tape. That's great. Worth mentioning that Brian Dable is now the offensive coordinator here. I mean, I'm not really sure I love the guy. But in terms of like what he's done the last two stops he's been with the bills. Obviously, Josh Allen's going to float that team up. But then you get the giants and he created a fantasy friendly environment when he was with a giants. Obviously, Malik neighbors had the big season in his rookie year. If you scroll back here that 170 targets season, basically just peppered his number one option. That's that fun days. I mean, this is years ago now, but in those seasons with the bills with Brian Dable, you were getting these massive 150 plus target seasons. So like Brian Dable will pinpoint his wider receiver one. Now will that be one though Robinson who he's had the last two years with the giants are 140 targets a season. Maybe will be the top five pickle carnal tape that the organization has a lot invested in and making sure that he helps camworts succeed. I'll say probably that one. So right now carnal tape, like if you're still drafting like you're drafting the day before the season or the day of the season starts on Wednesday. Yeah, like he's going in like the sixth round now he's falling like around sometimes into the seventh round. Like these are the trades currently happening. Rico Dotto, Travis Kelsey, Michael Pittman, I want carnal tape RJ Harvey.

6:05I want carnal tape over all of these dudes right now. You can get him at a pretty nice price. Now speaking of Mr Malik neighbors, let's get right into Malik neighbors because this is a guy who let's not forget when I just showed you, we had 170 targets as a rookie with Brian Dable back in 2024. He also led all rookies that season or all players that season in target share unbelievable. Like almost a 40% target share is a rookie. The guy came out. It was a pro right away. Unfortunately last year he only plays in four games. Once again, he was the obvious number one option in this offense, 12 targets, 13 targets in an overtime game where he scores 37.2 points, seven targets and only has three targets with Jackson Dart playing that game in week four before he suffers a torn ACL done for the season. During this time though, like once again last year, Malik neighbors, if we scroll to what he was doing, once again, averaging 8.8 targets per game. This factors in a game that he left early with only three targets. If you factor that game out, he's averaging over 10 targets a game. That's what he's done in his NFL career. 28% target share. All of these things clearly look fantastic for Malik neighbors who was averaging like a 44% first-read target share now on the Robinson is gone.

7:06So he should even be the number one target like first-read for Jackson Dart even more than he already was last year in the small sample. And honestly, this is what Jackson Dart needs. Like for a guy who lost Malik neighbors early last season, then lost the bell cow running back that was becoming like their clear RB1 and cam scataboo last year. Like Jackson Dart still had a pretty quality year. All things considered last season. If you pull it up right here, obviously this guy can escape like he's going to create it on his own top 12 and escape rate. If you were to scroll up to QBR like 17th overall and QBR, 20th overall and expected points added. When you factor in that this offensive line was falling apart, everybody in their wide receive room was dealing with injuries, not just Malik neighbors by the way. Cam scataboo goes down like it's a disgusting situation and to still be depending on the efficiency metric that you like, QBR or CPA. It still be as a rookie coming in when week four with nothing around you by the time it's been season pretty day and good to be a top 20 overall option. Now you put scataboo back out there. You get Isaiah likely you have neighbors coming back. You're hoping the offensive line could be better. There's a new player caller in there. If Jackson Dart's going to be a top 20 quarterback again, like even if it's QB 20, QB 17, I think that's enough from Malik neighbors. Like we've literally seen it the year before that in his rookie year.

8:08It's enough for him to get going and be a top 10 receiver once again. Here is that current competition with Juan Del Robinson now gone. This is after the NFL cut downs. Darius Lee and his still there. It seems like he's been on the Giants for 20 years now. Darnal Mooney who they signed is kind of like an overlapping skill set would slain and outside down field receiver Malik. I feel kind of similar there like an X big body outside third run pick out of Notre Dame and Odell makes the team out. Calvin Austin's on IRR and that's basically it's like these five wide receivers. I'm not concerned about Odell. I think it'll be a situational player Malik. I feel it's third round rookie. Really not sure what to think there. Reportly at a decent camp. So like Malik neighbors competition is aderiously in and Darnal Mooney. Yeah, I'm not worried about this at all. Isaiah likely a tight end will be involved. Like I'm not worried about any of the competition. I'm expecting once again another eight to 12 plus targets every single game for Malik neighbors. We're getting positive news out of camp right now. He shed the red contactors. We're going to go over some of the more recent news. You can see right here a doctor Jeff Mueller and Twitter says Malik neighbors glides into a change of direction. It's kind of ridiculous. You never guess he's less than 10 months removed from an ACL and write a meniscus injury. And I mean, it is pretty crazy.

9:08You can see right here. There's a reason why I didn't like him earlier in the summer because of those serious injuries. The dude is literally just floating out there on a football field despite coming off of this knee injury. He's cutting. He's moving. Now people are getting a little bit concerned about this recent quote from him that said, you know, I feel good right now. My mind is focused on playing the regular season playing whenever that is. People took playing though whenever I that is part, which you really can't even hear if that's exactly the words that he says, but they ran with that. Of course, Twitter, brain rock, people want to get the clicks, whatever it is, all this engagement. So they ran with that. And I think they're overreacting so much so to where the point Malik neighbors had to come out the next morning and say like, yeah, I feel good real good right now, but I won't commit to the status for week one. He says Jordan Ray. I'm one of the best giant speed reporters. Obviously, he's not going to commit to saying that he's playing week one. The team doesn't want him talking about this, right? I would say that Malik neighbors is playing week one. He's been practicing with the team for a month now. He's been practicing by the time the noncontactors he was taken off. That's almost three weeks from week one. So I think he's going to play barring some sort of setback week one, a big divisional matchup against the giant right in prime time at home, by the way. So I think he's definitely playing week one, but the team wants to be the one to announce that not the player, whether it's gamesmanship and deception for playing your division rival

10:12like Cowboys and make them think about other players or other game plan stuff. And then ultimately they waste some time and practice on that, right? Whatever it might be. So if anybody in your league is panicking over this Malik neighbors now, maybe not playing week one news, whatever it might be, I would go get him right now. Malik neighbors, these trades dare my love giving Malik neighbors, breeze hall giving Malik neighbors, pickings for neighbors. That's basically a one for one. You don't have to do that. Drunken London for neighbors, a one for one. I would take neighbors over as a flowers. Neighbors and eco-pollens is getting close. Who's well for me right now. I think it's just a wash. And some people are going to roll their eyes because Mike Evans is currently dropping whether it's like in still in fantasy drafts or just like in people's rest of season rankings because of a substation, a substation in San Francisco. Now obviously it's not just boiled up to that, but in some ways it kind of is like this substation is taking on a life of its own. It has its own Twitter account and people are like actually thinking that Mike Evans will

12:15never be able to walk in a football field again because he's old and he plays next to a substation. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not going to argue with you for 33 years old. He is old and for coming off of seasons where he just can't stay healthy with their tam strings or other injuries broken bones last year. You could see last year only plays eight games. The year before that only plays 14 and he leads a couple of those games early. So really he's only healthy for like 12 of those games. So obviously he's getting older, but let's not get it twisted. This is still Mike Evans. I know he's 33 years old. Devanta Adams at a similar age, keen and talented as a similar age last year, earning 100 plus targets and having being significant fantasy contributors. And by the way, like when you just look at the depth try right now, we'll see what happens with Keto looks like he's trending to play for week one, but like the wide receiver room right now, like obviously Brian, that weeks on on this team anymore, Christian Kirk's on IR to start the year. Ricky Pierce all is done for the season. Like their top five healthy wide receivers, quote unquote, healthy to start the year are Evans who their hopeful will play week one dealing with some nagging injuries that we'll get into. Debow 30 plus years old and like last year had some injuries and like pretty look pretty slow, like look like you 30 plus years old. And for a player that relies on explosiveness, like that's going to be a problem. The John Stribling, who is a rookie, he's rising in drafts. I think he's very talented, but at the same time, like he is a rookie.

13:17And then like Jordan Watson and Demarker Robinson. So like for Mike Evans, he is the clear and obvious wide receiver one on this team. If you ask me, Debow Samuel at this point in his career will not be that. And it's a tall task to just assume a second round. Rookie will automatically be the wide receiver one in this offense. And definitely when you get into the red zone, Mike Evans is the number one option. Like maybe they'll even limit Mike Evans snaps to start the season because they're worried about these nagging injuries. And he only plays, you know, 20 snaps a game instead of 30 plus routes run and half of them are in the red zone. And he scores a touchdown or two a game. I'll take that. Now realistically, there is some injuries going on here. Like let's not get a twisted. Jeremy Fowler reported that Mike Evans has a groin injury, but plans to play week one. It's considered minor, a minor barring any change. Now this was reported on August 26. So August 26 basically leaves you like two weeks before week one. So a minor groin injury should take one to two weeks, even for an older wide receiver. He should be good to go week one. Now there was a recent report after this on September 1. So a couple of days after that previous report from their GM Lynch. He said, John Lynch 49ers hope Mike Evans, a doctor groin will return to practice next week. So he's not going to practice at all this week by the time that or that was last week.

14:17So by the time that you're watching this, it's hopeful that he practices this week. So the team is probably going to be taking part pretty soon before they play their early season game on Thursday night. So this one is a little bit more tricky because they plan Thursday night. Will he be ready in time if he misses week one? That is a bummer, but even more reason to maybe be able to buy low for when he's out there week two. I got a theory and I floated this on Twitter and I don't actually fully believe this theory, but I think there's some sort of merit here. And here's my theory, maybe the 33 year old veteran wide receiver just doesn't know, just doesn't want to go through a training camp. Oh darn, my groin hurts again because like right now, he's heard about to groin minor things, a hit minor thing like he iced his ankle and foot one day and that became a report on Twitter. So like at the end of the day, like these minor bumps and bruises, maybe it's just an older wide receiver saying like, yeah, you know, I don't really want to be out here all that much. We've seen other players skip entire training camps, right? Now somebody did bring up a really good point. And again, I agree with this. I don't think he's actually maybe not faking, but just like trying to sit out a training camps, but he says, you know, skipping camp on a new team and a new offense is a great idea. And I said, you know, like, yeah, obviously, and here's my stance on that because I do think there is something to this. This is just a theory I get what you're saying and I agree.

15:19But also a 12 year veteran who has been with the team for five plus months isn't getting much from training camp reps. Like, and that's the truth. Like sure, Brock Perting and him being able to throw a little bit of camp is important. And I think they're doing that no matter what, but like him going through like these other drills, I don't think he wants to do it. I think he's just going, eh, the growing hurts. I'm going to take a couple of days off. And the 49ers like, wink, wink, it's fine. I think there is maybe something to do that at the end of the day. I think like the upside scenario for Mike Evans would be the Devonte Adam season from last year when he turned 33 during last season. And obviously, I mean, injuries started to plague him later in the season. I'm not expecting 14 touchdowns from Evans, but I am expecting him to be the 49ers. Number one, red zone option besides a Christian McAfry. But I wouldn't be shocked if you did get a similar season right? He ends up missing time, but 115 120 targets and like an eight to 10 touchdown season in around six of your fantasy drafts now. Or if you can buy low on that, that feels pretty solid. Some of the trades that have currently gone down are pretty crazy. Like Trayvon Henderson is dealing with his own ankle injury. Like Rashid Shaheed is just crazy. Isaiah, likely crazy. DJ Moore is like a one for one. If you want DJ Moore now, I'm fine with that. Luther Burn, I prefer Alec Pierce, give me Mike Evans. So there are some trades right now that can get done out there. The next player we got to talk about, you probably can't buy low on, but I do think after week one, there's a world where you're never going to be able to buy Lad Makanke at a third, fourth round draft price where he went in most of your drafts this year. And I mean, let's just break it down. This is a player that obviously in his rookie year was fantastic. And if you break down what happened last year is kind of like a tale of two halves in some ways still plays 16 games. The targets go down. The catches go down like everything goes down last year for Lad Makanke. But if you look at it, when he and Justin Herbert were healthy because they both dealt with like minor injuries mid season didn't miss like significant time. But in those six games, weeks five through 10 last year, Lad Makanke is averaging 17 and a half fantasy points per game. Nine targets looks like the vintage end of the year. Lad Makanke, you saw from the rookie season. However, this doesn't continue because then he ends up dealing with like these knee and toe issues and Justin Herbert deals with minor things. And then from week 11 on, Lad Makanke's only averaging like seven fantasy points per game. But let's not forget as a healthy rookie, he was fantastic 82 catches over 1100 receiving yards. And this is despite really not doing much the first half of the year. He broke out in the second half of the year where he starts scoring in his final 10 games.

17:2417 fantasy points per game has like the 200 receiving yard game in the post season that doesn't even factor into this over seven targets per game. And oh, yeah, by the way, the biggest target earner on this team last year in aging Kenan Allen who had past connections with Justin Herbert from his rookie year, the COVID year. A team in Allen is now off this team. That's 120 plus targets out the door. The replacements are really nobody like the replacements in this offense were Brennan Thompson, a fourth round speed surpick. And that was it like David and Jokou at tight end. And then that's it. Like you're looking at Lad Makanke, Trey Harris and Quintan Johnson being your clear top three wider sievers. Quintan Johnson and Lad Makanke and two wider sievers sets is how I view this. I think there's a lot more upside for Lad Makanke, especially in this new Mike McDaniel offense, by the way, in offense that Mike McDaniel with the dolphins, despite being in brutal situations with an offensive line into a falling apart the last two years. Like this is still a situation McDaniel was able to put up fantasy friendly environments, especially obviously 2023 when they had the number one offensive. If that's anywhere near where the chargers are going to look like with way more talent on their team, in my opinion, then with the dolphins have had the last couple of years,

18:24while I think you're in a situation where Lad Makanke starts to look like a guy who could have a 1300 plus yard season. And I mean, Mike McDaniel was doing this with two in 2023 when two led the NFL and passing yards with 4,600 yards and 560 pass attempts in a quick passing offense with like, you know, throw it up the Tyree Kill and Waddle here and there. Now he's going to get a legit like, you know, alien quarterback and Justin Herbert who could make any throw on a football field. I think the season could be very fun for the chargers. I know they say that like almost every year, but this one might actually be the one. We're getting these reports out of camp as well as Indihani says, Chargers wide receiver usage from Daniel Popper. They're like best beat reporter talks about Lad Makanke used similar to how Tyree Kill was used in Miami. Mike McDonald wants to use Quentin Johnson underneath and get the ball in his hands to create after the catcher better fit for him. So Lad Makanke could be this guy who's running like those clear out routes, getting a lot of explosive plays. That would be great. Move the sticks. So Daniel Jeremiah on the Chargers says I'm excited to see Mike McDaniel's Chargers offense. He's going to be able to call so many plays with Justin Herbert as opposed to Tua. Lad Makanke was put on earth to play in this offense. I agree. I think the only downside you possibly could look at is the offensive line because it is

19:26definitely getting worse after some injuries in training camp. You have the injury obviously to their center at this point. So now they're hoping that a backup center can back Jake slaughter can do something. Now they did make some moves, right? They signed this off season. Cole Strange. We're hoping that could be something left guards going to probably be a problem as well. So like hopefully we're shot and slater who dealt with injuries early and camp can be good. Hopefully Joe Alt can come back and in cold strange could be better than average on the offensive line because they are dealing with a couple of injuries and sketchy spots now which could limit this entire offense. I hope that doesn't happen. Lad Makanke right now I'm willing to pay for him. Like I probably take Lad Makanke at this point over T Higgins not over Chris Alave definitely over Trayvon Henderson. You know, definitely I would probably take him over Tadaroma Kmillan came scataboo for sure at this point. I continue to get worried about him. So to me Lad Makanke is somebody that you want to buy him now because week one if he goes out there and he has that 10 target game seven catches 70 plus yards and a touchdown and the offense looks amazing. You never get he's going to be like a second round caliber player in the rest of season rankings. 21:29standpoint media like taking clips at a context and training camp on social media. So I think we kind of have to talk about this a little bit because it's leading to Rossi rice being somebody that you could actually trade for right now.
