Your Health is Your Essential Kindness

'Tis the time of year when the colds take hold of us and our little ones, isn't it? I had a call scheduled with a dear old friend to talk about my book and life LIVE on the podcast and facebook today (which is how we found each other and how we have stayed in touch), but in a pre-call we realized that we both sound under the weather and a chat would not be in our best interests today.

Remember, there will be days where you feel better and sound better - if it can wait for those days, then why rush it?  We have this culture of push, push, push and go, go, go, but working with horses reminds us that this is not the natural way of things. After all, the race is only 30 seconds, and in the end, it's with yourself!

Part of the training to prepare for the race comes from self care and taking it easy on days when you are off so you do not make yourself sicker. We can literally "run ourselves to death." Dena Bjork and I got on the phone and chatted a bit about this before we decided to postpone our live chat to a day when we have energy for an hour length call and don't feel like we are pushing it.

You'll hear me rap about this and attempt to play her review of the book which she shared with me via Facebook Messenger last month, but God's plan was not for it to play... so I went to another message from another colleague of mine in the horse world, the dear Marvin Williams, and shared a quote from the book that resonated with him.

If you have a book in you or a pivot in your own life story to share today, do it - your health and those of your fellows depends on each of us doing the work to take care of ourselves.  This is the essential kindness, also known as love, and related to forgiveness.
