Okay, so the Detroit Tigers just announced Justin Verlander career celebration days a two-day celebration honoring JV as legendary career in the last thing impact. Excuse me is made on the Detroit community. Excuse me. Friday September 25th and Saturday September 26th. Oh, I won't be there. Where are you going to be? My 50th high school reunion. Oh That's a whole nother top. I can't wait to talk about that with you. Yes. Um, look, the JV signing, we've taken a surprising number of calls with people complaining about that. Um, and, and, and well, here's what gets me is like that was an emergency break class signing. They didn't, they was late in the game. They find out they, I think it was right after it was resolsome was going to be shelved was that who it was him and what Val does was like the same day if I'm not mistaken.

And so they took a flyer on a guy that, you know, some people were excited about, Hey, JV's coming back and others rolled their eyes going they're only doing it to sell tickets. This is the first example of them trying to sell tickets, right? And, and, and that's okay. That's fine. Um, what I'm fearful of is that it'll be an empty stadium that people, I hope people go. I think it's sad when you're honoring a legend, but the team isn't good and it doesn't. Well, Michigan will be playing Iowa on the 26. Yeah. Star time hasn't been set for that. So it's the 25th and the 26th. Yeah, who's who's Michigan state playing, do you know? I think they're, I don't know, the Notre Dame's the week before. Yeah, I'll look it up. The Lions play home that Sunday. Yeah. So that's why they're probably not doing it on Sunday. It's probably, but Friday and Saturday, right? Yeah. Michigan state

is hosting Nebraska. So one of those games is going to be a new game, most likely. Yeah. One of them be 330 or night. Um, here's the thing about this. He's got a pitch, right? You would hope so. Yeah. It would you do this? And do you pick these dates? Because that's when they expect them to return. I mean, if you're doing a JV night, it would be nice for him to get the one last applause off the mountain. Oh, absolutely. And let me make something clear here too. We understand that people are supremely disappointed in this season. And you should be. We are disappointed in this season. But this is, you know, now that they're basically out of it, why what would make you want to go? JV had a great career here. Yes, he did. And you know, it's not like Stafford thing when he, well, Stafford, everybody, not everybody. A lot of

people liked everybody loved JV. Yeah. And JV loved it here because he had to make up his mind like 30 seconds left before the day he didn't want to go. He didn't want to go. Um, but the, you know, the Tigers did at that time in a purge move, trying to, and we just went through this with scuba. Right. Um, but yeah, this is a, this is interesting because scuba comes back and the debate is willing to boo. JV gets a night. He gets two nights. Right. Um, I will continue to attend his agent. Did him no favors scuba. Oh, I just, but, but with that said, you know, if you're a big JV fan, I don't know which day he's going to pitch. I would wait to buy your tickets. Yeah. Because, and there's no guarantee like it's not that they announced he will pitch one of those days. You would just, you think they waited to see if they now, obviously mathematically, they can still do it. But watching this team the last three weeks, you know, they won't, you think they waited

till they were pretty much know that they're done before doing this. Well, I think that they would probably, by the way, tickets started just 15 bucks. Yeah. Um, I think they probably would plan on doing this if they were still in the hunt. Mm hmm. I think this gets announced now because, all right. Right. We have faded. Um, you know, I'm, I'm not sure of this, but one would think that a timetable for his return is aligning with this. So, um, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he won't return. It would be cool to see him on the mound one more time. Yes. And just, you know, people are sentimental fans love their guys. And there's nothing wrong with that. They gave him a tribute video in Minnesota. Who did the twins to JV on this road trip? Yeah. That's cool. Yeah. Really? Did you see it? No, I just heard about it. Very interesting. Hopefully, it's true. Hopefully, that's something that I was dreaming about. But yeah, always a possibility. Oh, yes. Oh,

always. Definitely. If you're Verlander, do you force yourself to go out there and pitch one inning? Yeah. Shoot me up with anything. Like, you know, we have the pitching chaos, the opener. Like, yeah, all you have to do is at least go out there and pitch the opening the first half of the inning, right? Yeah. Strike out the first guy walk off the mound. Just, this is I cannot believe. Like, I wasn't I'm going to answer. I wasn't a huge fan of the signing beginning because he just so old. Yep. And then he got hurt right away. And I'm like, okay, what did they do? This guy can't even, you know, tie his shoes without getting hurt because, because age, but with that being said, I cannot believe that he didn't pitch one game of commercial park this year. I know. He only pitched what he only pitched one game. Yeah, it was on the road. Yeah, it was on the road. And the tiger friends never got to see him in a tiger's uniform on the mound this season. And that's socks. And so at that point, I'm like, I mean, he already announced he's retiring. Do you just say, hey, just shoot me up with whatever I'm going out there at least one time. Absolutely. Yep. And he's still rehabbing from wanting you to understand when we get these medical reports every

week. So it wasn't an arm injury, right? No, there was a hamstring or I think the last one was a hamstring. Yeah. Well, I mean, even if you get, even if you throw one pitch, like have drew Anderson ready to go, he's got to be on that mound. He's got to be on the mound. They've got to put him on the mound. And if it's one pitch and they pull him. Yeah. I mean, you know what, because like send some legend out to take him out. Can you do that? Can you put making in a uniform and have meagre go take him out? Wow. Right. Jason and Romulus here on 971. Hi, Jason. How are you guys today? What's up? So this was my thought. Now that you guys mentioned this whole JV thing, like, you know, you were looking at the game times for Saturday for Michigan and Michigan State. Yeah. There's no games on Friday. They say they're going to do a Saturday or a Friday Saturday, you know, to honor him. My thought, he's going to pitch on Friday. Friday night, they packed downtown the final homestay of the season. He pitches Friday, whether it's one

inning, however long he goes, he comes out then Saturday before the game, they're going to do the honor him thing, you know, to honor him. And that's it. He's done. I think you probably, if you're predicting a scenario, that sounds quite probable. Or he pitches one inning Friday night and one thing Saturday. Jeremy is next on 971. Hi, Jeremy. Oh, my bad. There you go. Sorry. There you go. What's up? I just want to say I saw a very little pitch in Toledo for the mudhands his last start. And he got rocked. I mean, he went six innings. They were hitting home runs off of them left and right. Just hot fastballers like 94, but most were around 90. So I think it's time for him to hang it up. I mean, even if you were to would have come up, I don't think he would have been successful. Well, he is. He is retiring. This is more. In fact, this is a ceremony. I'll start if he gets one. Right. Right. I mean, I don't think he would have helped us season. He'd been healthy.

It's my, my, uh, it's possible. It's quite possible given. He finished last year so strong, which was, that's the reason I think they signed it. Yeah. I think that's what made it a gamble that they were willing to take. But no, yeah, he's, he's, uh, I don't know if the caller had heard. He's already now. He's on time. Yes. Hey, uh, it's a Thursday NFL season starts next Wednesday. We got the wide nine Omaha Ford down around the league blitz thingy straight ahead here on Carson Anderson on 97 one.
