0:00That would be my thing The Honda says Texas podcast keep talking about how the Ohio State defense will re-brest from all the players lost to the NFL is there. Any position on this defense that may surprise us and be better than last year, shocking us all. Better than last year on the Ohio State defense. Now, let's set this stage for the fact that this was the best statistical defense in Ohio State history. So, that's safety. Caleb Downs doesn't work here anymore. So no. Linebacker or Valries and Sonny Stales don't work here. So no.

1:00Can I give you an answer? I think there's one spot that I think is potentially an answer. Well, I'll just say, Jaylen McLean is playing the same position he played last year. So he better be better. Well, yes. But I think the world of Earl Little, but so far Caleb Downs is a one of one. Until there is a two of two on Caleb Downs, that is a benchmark that if he can get there, God bless him. You wanted to say something. Great tech. Without a doubt. Without a doubt. I think James Smith showed some things last year that we did not see out of head for Tuesday. We didn't see out of anybody playing that position. If you're just going to say you're lumping in the DTs together, well, now it's different story. Right. Yeah. That's right. That's right. We could say three tech. And, you know, IGB really great. Well, I don't know. What does Devon end up doing this year? There could be a potential upgrade there.

2:01Certainly the ceiling is higher. Jermaine Matthews should be better. You're right. Yeah. This guy is coming back should all be better. And Yada should be a better Kenyana. I wonder if we may not see it right now. And I think Lorenzo style junior at a really good year last year. I wonder if JTemmins could be an eventual upgrade in the way they use him this year compared to way the way they use the Lorenzo style junior last year. But also I think they're going to play more three linebacker sets. So JTemmins won't have as much opportunity. Maybe it is Lorenzo styles it last year. And again, I thought he played really, really well. But yeah, I mean, there's the guys that all came back should be better. James Smith and Andrew Houston at three tech should be better. The death at certain spots is better. I think death at defensive end. It is interesting that we went into camp or coming through camp talking a little bit talking quite a bit about the like it's and how it was clear from everything that we're seeing that he's with the ones. And so he must be doing really well. It's done. And then the week before Rida singles out Zyna and Gradient.

3:05It's like, well, that's odd. That's the first referred to anybody say his name and boom, he's your starter. Yeah. And he didn't have a hugely impactful game last week. Did he? Zyna? Zyna? Did he play good? No, he didn't have a, yeah, he didn't get on the statute. I don't think. But I mean, it wasn't a bad day. He just didn't get on the statute. So yeah, that was that was weird to me because you saw both both icons and you saw with the ones you heard from people later when we were not in practice that he was still with the ones. And so you're kind of, well, okay, I guess. And then nope, right back where he was last year in Zyna and Gradient. Which is where we would have had it coming out of this. All right. So that's what I did. Yeah. And come up with this. Yeah. Go out. Right. We said, after the season Zyna and Gradient is going to be the starter. We were right. You know, attention to what we said in the interview between them now. And we were all just early. Right. Both like 19 snaps. I'm really curious to see how that plays out this week.

4:08Yeah. If it's going to be more of a split or if that was just because of last week. Yeah. Boy. And then now you've got play Rousa. And it makes as well. And I'm wondering how much of the talk with the O.K. from which is the five man from the he's played in as practiced in a Ohio state as one of the edge rushers or just the four man front on the, the third down, which is at the speed group that Karri Wilder is in. You know, that is he joining that group with Kinyata Jackson, you know, Karri Wilder. It's quite Rousa in there. We're going to find out if he can rush the pass or I think this week. But it's, it's, you know, who's the other guy that would be in there because in theory, that's an interesting group. But it was difficult for them to bring Keldrick Lester down last week. Archbading is a different kind of animal. I thought James Smith the way. I don't know if you guys chuck you saw it or not James Smith talking about why it is so difficult to sack and quarterback. It's like the quarterback does not want to be sacked. And they're going to do everything.

5:08This is a human being is an animal doing everything they can to not get captured. And it's like people don't understand it. It's really hard to sack the quarterback. Sometimes you got to grab by the horse collar. But yeah, it's like no quarterback wants to get sacked. So it's one of the hardest things in the world to do. And I thought that's, that's pretty interesting. And then he also talked about how what would when defensive lineman don't think quarterback can see them. He's like, we're like six six and 300 pounds. You think the quarterback can't feel you? Come on. So that was some good stuff for me. Well, once that, you know, to that, to that Texas comment about what the Texas guys are saying about the defense and then I have state lost a lot of high-end talent. Obviously, you know, they're coming from the Texas point of view and that's going to make them feel better. So I'm going to do it myself. I feel that even though there aren't as many of those super, super high-end players as you had last year or maybe there are. We don't even know yet. But it would seem not.

6:09I think that what that does is challenge one of the best defensive coordinators in the game to do more with what he has. And he has someone on the team that can do everything. It's a matter of putting in, you know, putting those packages together and seeing more waves of guys. Like I think we're going to see this year. That's tough to deal with too. And if he hits the right kind of tempo with that, the right beat of what he's doing with that, it could be a real bear to deal with all year for everybody. And it will be interesting to see how much four or three is out there when they've got 12 personnel. If Texas tries to trap them in a certain alignment and then run some tempo for high state players versus Talinduff overall to handle some of that, a bunch of stuff that we're going to finally get to learn about both teams. But I completely understand. It makes sense to look at Ohio State, Steve has to be like, well, there's no way. You can't lose all the three top 11 picks. An all-American nose tackle.

7:11A starting corner, second round corner, Davis, Nighba, and I think that it's just going to be fine. But I mean, it could still be pretty darn good. And I don't think anybody's expecting Ohio State to shut Texas out. But I would be surprised if it's easy for Texas to move the ball down. Or if they can do it consistently. Really, it's like nobody should, in a top 10, nobody should move the ball consistently against you. You should be putting up some sort of fight and expect both teams to put up plenty of fight on Saturday. Yeah. Mike Freeno says, don't even bother looking to Miami again. It was 21 nothing. And then it events. We hit the TV behind us. We had that on and we've turned it off right before we started because it was like, well, this game, this game was over before. Most of the fans that even got into their seats, yeah, 49 nothing at the half. SP plus has FFAMU as the 243rd ranked team that puts them. I can tell you behind most of FBS, FBA, all of FBS, probably virtually all of FCS and probably a bunch of division two teams.

8:12Because that was like where UMass was last year. And they were behind D2 teams and then they just beat Rutgers last year. Yeah, that's great. She had a lot of FBS. Yeah. Yeah. The FBAMU, the 48M, like when Ohio State's casual them, which is also criminal, but Team Smith did it because he wanted the band. The band do come to Columbus, but they got suspended. Yeah. There was a hazing scandal and so they didn't come. And so it was just the worst football game you've ever seen. But it was the same thing. It was, I think it might have been 28 nothing at the end of the first quarter and it was 56 nothing at half and it was, it ended 76 nothing, but only because Ohio State spent the entire second half driving with the parking break on. So, but Omar says, my main concern is to play at a defensive backs, especially Matthews. Yeah. I mean, that's, I think the defensive side of all, I think that's probably going to be concerned number one. Yeah, I would agree and tell he's consistently not giving up catches and it's not like he's

9:16getting toasted. He gave up a couple of catches first down or two, but you would still like to see more passes broken ups. Stop throwing at him. Like Davis, I think, been no, Illinois last year at Illinois, he had five pass breakups and somebody mentioned to him after the game like, IGB, you know, you had five pass break ups, what do you think about that? He's like, I had five pass breakups. Don't throw at me. Like he was like, very bad. I feel like, what do you, don't throw at me? So, do you mean Matthews needs to be one of those guys like, don't throw at me? Although, if they are, go get the ball. He's, he's been known as a playmaker. He had a pick six as a true freshman. Ryan Day Gymnol's love disability, go get the football in high school as a crew. He is a very active defender. So, yeah, go get the ball. And if they're going to throw it, you make a pay for it. You should, you should want that opportunity, that activity. Because corners will talk about getting bored because nobody's throwing at them. I don't think he's going to be bored on Saturday. No, I do not think he's going to be bored, not at all.
