2:02But Tremaine Edmonds, the news coming out last night that the Bears, no surprise, are releasing the classy, sometimes productive in Chicago, a linebacker who had his best year last year before getting hurt and was always first class, both on and off the field respect in the locker room, Tremaine Edmonds, out the door as the cap just keeps on flowing towards the wallet of Ryan Poles. Oh, good to see you, buddy. Good, good, good, good afternoon to you, my friend. Yes. Yes. Good afternoon to you as well. And I would like to start out with some fun. So I apologize to all the Bears fans watching that will get annoyed over the next three minutes of this show. Something happened, pretty show that we have to address because we'd like to have fun on the show. And I just want you to know, if you're watching on YouTube right now, you look at how carbs hair looks pretty good right now, he's got a beard, you know, it's not, or he did have a beard. It's not really a secret that any more that we pre record our ads.

3:03So I don't know about 90 minutes ago, we jumped on here to record our ads and calm. Hard to look like you just got not a bad. He looked like, I mean, his hair was like, just like frizzy and he had the flu spear going and remember the flu spear, like you had the flu spear going, I've been, yeah. And I was already late to record something with Johns, which you guys can, that'll be up on our feed here in a little bit after this show is over. All these things are going on and we had to record these ads and carbs like, just give me a second. I got to, you know, basically do something about everything that was going on with his face. And Stephen, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know, three minutes went by. It was among carbs, most impressive performances at anything ever. I see three minutes tops. He came back looking like he looks right now.

4:05I have never seen a grown man shave that fast ever. It was, I don't even know how you do it. I still don't know how you did it. It doesn't make any sense. It's a thank you, Adam and Stephen. And I listen, the message came in this morning around 11 o'clock as I was doing my first of all, I was up very early today, outstanding performance. We won't talk about that. And then after that, I went to yoga. And, you know, to continue my flexibility training and got after that shout out game day men's health. And then I was back and I was prepping and I was listening to, you know, all the pundits out there. And, you know, so I was kind of half paying attention to the text that came in as, which was half of me, he means he didn't do our job. It said he did not read it. And the text was, can we meet and do ads at 1130? John's wants to do a mini pod at 1145.

5:07That was Hogue. And then Steve responded, yeah, I'll drop ad link in now. And then I responded with a thumbs up. Apparently, what I just read was, can we meet and then I, and I left out and do ads and I, and I saw at 1130 and I was thumbs up, meet 1130. So at 1134, I looked out on my phone, where's the phone call here? This, this, this Stephen Nicholas is just all cares about this. How did you shave that fast? Well, I so, but I didn't get, I didn't get ready for the ads is the whole point. And then so then I got up here and I looked terrible. And so listen, I'm a professional Hogue. It's like I've been in the army. You think I am a master at procrastinating. So I'm always late. So when you're, when you're somebody like this, you got to act quick when you snap into it. And so it was a water of water over everything. And then it's a quick soap on and then it's up one of those. And then, and then it's a grab the product boom and, and, and, and, and it's like a game.

6:11I, I'm sure there are people out there that relate to like letting things go to the last minute. So you create like a competition for yourself to prove that you can do it. Like how fast can you fold the laundry? How fast can you make the bed? How fast can you get out the door, set a timer? And that was kind of like I made it, I created a competition for myself with how quickly I could be back. And plus I knew that you had to get back to, uh, your favorite podcast or John's, yeah, I didn't want to make you any later than I already had. So I was under the gun and here we are. And I'm ready, man. I'm ready. I'm impressed. I'm just, I, I, I don't do the manual. What do you even call that manual shaving? I do the electric. Yeah. Really? But even that takes me way longer than what you did today. Well, yeah. Electric shaving. So I have a single neck or anything. Yeah. I got everything. I mean, it's probably, I probably did, but I maybe I didn't to, you know, most times there's, I, I leave a little patch for, you know, uh, did, did, didn't you, Quellen will point that out more importantly than that. Thank you, though, for underlining. And I apologize for making you a little bit late today.

7:14Did you, did you, did everything work out with John's? Are we good? Was he mad at me? John's is fine. Do you know the amount of times I've waited for John's in my life? You see? He did text me though, effing car. Okay. We got an effing car. Adam, if you're watching, which I'm sure you're not, but if you are, I do apologize. My bad. Um, it's fine. All right. Listen. What are we talking about? Let, let, let, we'll hear. This is what I want to talk about just to start here. And we're, we're, we're going to do a whole bunch on Hoag's love with, uh, Tyler Linderbombe coming up here in, in, in, in seven minutes. But so Tremaine goes out the door and, you know, no one is seemingly upset about that. I'm not upset about that. But, you know, Tremaine, once Dennis Allen got here and they put him on the weak side, he had a fantastic run in the middle of the season, making tackles and he, and it was unfortunate that he got hurt, um, and that guy was absolute professional off the field. So I, I wish him well wherever he goes, um, but the right move. But now you look at it, right? What are the bears need right now?

8:15They need two linebackers. They need two safeties. They need help at defensive tackle. They need an help at edge. They need a left tackle. They need a center. They need a wide receiver kick, return or punter. And one I'd also like to throw in her hook, they, they might be in need of some leadership here. And I know, you know, in the locker room, Drew Domen was a leader with the way you went about his business and everything else as a center. Kevin Byard, maybe he'll be back, but maybe not. Tremaine Edmonds, first class dude, absolute go about his business, the right way in the linebacker room. DJ, you know, the bears talked a lot about how DJ Moore was, you know, he never missed a game here. And there was a certain, you know, just a, a, a steadiness to DJ. So it's just a lot going on here that they, that, you know, as Ryan Pulse tries to rework this roster. So I don't know if you had to rank them, rank the needs right now, what, how would you go about it? Because that's a long list. I think the leadership aspect that you just brought up is very important and should not be overlooked. And I think it's also one of the many reasons why I think there's got to be a little bit urgency to hear to get Kevin Byerge deal done before Monday, because I don't know, you want to lose another guy from, from that standpoint. And I know the last, last night when the train Edmonds move was made and everybody very accurately looked at all the sudden the amount of, you know, we're talking about 40 plus million dollars in cap space that was cleared and can be used on other positions. But to your point, there's a lot of positions, there's a lot of, there's a lot of spots that need to be filled here.

10:21And there's only, only so much money to go around. Now there's other avenues the bears can explore to free up even more cap space with restructures. And it's, I would say it's a good thing that at this point on Friday and, you know, 110 PM central time they haven't had to do that yet because every time you do that, you push, you know, the credit card bills down the line a little bit. So I still think they're in a really good place. I think they have plenty of flexibility. But it's a good point that they have plenty of needs. And this, this salary cap space is going to have to go towards it. And I, I don't think you can deny the, it's not just the quality of players that they've lost here, but the, the, the amount of leadership as well in that room. Yeah. Look, there's, there's no way they're going to be able to spend their way through this. They're, you know, you're going to have to hit on draft picks who can contribute in year one. If you're really talking about being a, you know, playoff, deep playoff, even potential

11:21super bowl contender next year, you know, they're, you're not going to go out and sign two linebackers, do safety is a left tackle and, and everything else. So this is going to be, you know, this is, this is, this is, and Ryan Polz is, you know, it's been, I, one of his recent interviews, he talked about how much talent evaluations going on by the coaching staff right now. So, you know, Ben Johnson, whatever, you know, percentage level he hit on last year with Colston Loveland and Luther Burton, Calvin Unguy, throw him in there too. Like they're going to need that, that, that level of impact is going to have to happen this year if they're going to be the same Bears team, which I think is, you know, they've got four picks in the top 90. So it's absolutely reasonable to think that they can hit on, I don't know, three of them. So, and let, and let those guys be impactful. It can all work out, but it's, you know, this is, this is why they could pay the big bucks here. What do you, what do you make of the Taylor Decker Detroit Lions? I don't want to be here anymore. Will the Bears immediately be interested? We need a left tackle.

12:22Well, there's a lot there. I mean, yeah, this is, these are in Rashon, Gary also just got released by the Packers too. So these are the moves that get made this weekend, kind of leading up towards Monday. But the second I saw the Taylor Decker thing pop across my timeline, certainly got my attention. Now this does not mean that it's 100% going to make sense. I think the immediate, the immediate question becomes, what is his market out there right now? We're talking about a guy who's going to be 33 this year. He's very durable, plays a lot, played a lot of football in this league. But man, if you just take the money out of it for a second, you talk about a guy that would make a lot of sense for the Bears trying to, to pluck somebody in as a temporary stop gap because Ozzy Truppillo suffered the injury they did. I mean, we're all under the mindset that they could really use a, you know, one year veteran type of guy to slide in there to buy a year. And somebody like Taylor Decker who's played for the Lions in this division for as long

13:24as he has and for Ben Johnson, he already knows the offense. He already knows exactly what's being run here. I don't, I don't know you could have pulled a different name out of the hat that made more sense right now than Taylor Decker. Now what's it going to cost? You know, he was due, I think some around 18, little over 18 and a half million dollars this year. They asked him to make a take a pay cut, which is what led to his release because he basically said, no, thank you. I don't know if he's getting that on the open market at his age. He's 31. He's 31 for those not following along via the Google machine at home. You know, it's so it's not, you know, this is not 39 year old, the dude that fell out it was on the fishing boat that we signed. You know, this is someone that you could call at least the back end of his prime. He's a monster man. He's huge. I would, you know, and they're talking about some leadership there to just a clear vibe.

14:25He's going to be 33 this season. He's 32 right now. He will be turning 33 in August. Is that right? Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yes. As his age wrong. That's messed up. Yes. He's been in the league for 10 seasons already, which is always what I care about more, you know. Sure. But durable guy and, and you know, I just, I would love to know what the lions were asking him to take because you would think that in his mind, that's where the discussion start. Although there's always a part of that equation is always how much of that's a slap in the face too. Like, maybe, you know, I've been, I've given this organization all of them for 10 years and now they want me to take a pay cut. That can also be a reason why he'd love to join the Bears and play for Ben Johnson and give him. I like, there's a lot of different angles to this. Exactly. Like, Hey, man, we appreciate you. Sorry, your team that you spent your entire career doesn't. By the way, yeah, reminder, we did finish ahead of you guys last year.

15:26You know, you'd be, you'd be moving up in the division. You know, it's, it's, I mean, these guys at the end of the day, am I starting? Am I making a lot of money? I'm a hired gun, you know, listen, people move around and, yeah, it was as we all know all the time. So I don't think you'd have some, I would, I would doubt you'd have some major problem coming a little bit further south to a better city to, you know, better football fans take that. Jim Richell slash Don Burr, you know, having a nice little, maybe, you know, who knows how long he could play in Chicago? It might be even more than one year. So I don't know. That's, that's what, what do you think? What do you think? A two year contract with the Bears could get out of after one year? What do you think that number is? Uh, I don't know. Can we say two years, make it more simple? Like would you pay him $10 million to be your starting left tackle this year? Yes, I would 100% and then how that impacts center, but that's another thing. Like spending a little bit more left tackle could buy you a little bit more flexibility

16:29to go younger and cheaper at center because you, you, I would, I would imagine if Taylor Decker was a left tackle, Ben Johnson would feel a little bit, at least he would feel good about his four guys now outside of center. Well, if you're telling me that if I pay Decker, I can't go get Linderbaum, then I wouldn't do it. I'd be more, I'd be more, I agree, I agree. I'd be more apt to, I'd want to put them both together and I have a great offensive line and I have a great young core of playmakers that I'm going to add on to in the draft too. We're going to play an interview for somebody from the combine that I have a crush on today. You know, that, and then I'm going to, I'm going to try to hit as much as I can hit, be whatever. Seattle Seahawks light by getting hot by drafting some defensive players, that to me. If you really could solidify your offensive line, you, I mean, you could be a problem. Year two of Ben, year three of Caleb, stout up front, Luther Burton running all, you

17:31know, understanding the offense of that level, Rome with a major chip on his shoulder, I would assume some cool young wide receiver to add into that room. Colcomat being Colcomat, I, you know, come on, man, that's, that's, that's a lot of fun right there. Yeah. And now to be clear, like Taylor Decker is not, you know, top of the top, left tackles out there. But for what you're trying to get by with for a, for a year, oh, yeah, top half, really has one pro ball in, you know, 10 years, we're not talking about a dominant, you know, but I, but he makes perfect sense for a one year stopgap. Yeah. Um, all right, let's get to your other non stopgap. Let's do, let's do that now is, uh, Hogue is all in on the center. 20:33No, yeah, Jackson's out now. Okay. Good. That was recorded back when you were late for the ads. Yeah. Well, Jackson, Jackson loves four seasons. All right. So you spent some time with yourself and you just decided to tie a little inner bomb or bust? Is that so? Well, okay. So I'm going to brace people for this and this is not. I don't think this is going to be the most popular take, although I think there's some ballers out there that will agree with me. I would advise probably, I don't know if Greg Braggs is watching this right now while he's playing golf in Arizona. But if he is, I would advise him to turn it off because he's not going to really like this take. But if it, I keep saying this, there is a world where you can make Max Crosby and Tyler bomb, Tyler Linderbaum work together. Now can you also do Taylor Decker? Can you also reassign Kevin Byer? Like then it gets messy, right? But there's a world you could do it.

21:36Let's have this conversation as more of an either or though because I do think that that's probably more likely that it's, it would be more of an either or situation. I'm going to ask you a question. Stephen can jump in on this too if he wants to. Carm what do Micah Parsons, eight in Hutchinson, TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Miles Garrett, Joey Bosa, we'll even go back to Julius Peppers or him in this conversation. Daniel Hunter, Mario Williams, Khalil Mac, and Max Crosby also will throw him in too. What do they all have in common? There's two things they have in common that all of those players have in common. They all get to the quarterback, well, they do that. So I'm going to guess that you're saying that none of them have won a Super Bowl. Am I right about that? None of them have won a Super Bowl. So that's a stat.

22:37And all of them have that, the list that I just read you was a historical list minus one player who I'm about to address was actually at the top of the list. But there's a historical list of all of the highest edge rusher contracts, this is according over the cap dot com. In terms of APY average per year as a percent of the salary cap at signing. So the percentage that they take up of their team salary cap when they sign their big money extension. Right. So we're talking Micah Parsons at 16.7% of the Packers salary cap, right? All the way down to I went to Max Cosby is a 12.7% at the time he signed his most recent deal with the Raiders. The point is there's a lot of evidence here that these highly, highly paid ed rushers

23:38who ever single one of those players I just named really good player. I love watching all of them. And isn't that alarming that that entire list of players. None of them have a Super Bowl while taking up that much percent of their teams salary cap. Now there's one exception, but it is there's an exception to the exception number one on this list over the cap dot com is actually Michael strain hand with 1999 sign of contract that took up 17% of the Giants salary cap. They went to the Super Bowl and lost to the Ravens after he signed that deal. Now I don't know. I didn't do enough research here to know what percentage he was making when they finally beat the Patriots 2008 Super Bowl, but I'm guessing it was actually a lower percentage and they had Eli Manning at that point, who ended up going to the Hall of Fame. But when it was Michael straight hand taken up that Kerry Collins was a quarterback. They made it to the Super Bowl.

24:38They didn't win it. Also, we're talking about a different era of football now, right, too. So I don't know how much you want to include that, but that rest of that list, it's pretty jarring. Yeah. And look, these studies are just a reminder, it doesn't mean it's like some hard and fast rule. Like you can't do that. You'll never win, but it does show you that if you are doing that, you better have a rookie quarterback, you know, a quarterback on a rookie deal, which by the way, those rarely win, too. It doesn't happen that often, Patrick Holmes did it once. So they got off a close, but you know, it's regardless. So it makes putting the roster together that much more challenging. I think that is a fair assessment. If you are paying that much for an address or versus doing it, you know, in some level of rotation. I mean, everybody falls in love with the recent winner and that's with how the Seahawks did it. Just to mention, they, you would be giving up draft capital for Matt. Correct. With why I know Packer fans did not love the emergency podcast we did when they traded

25:43for Mike Parsons, but my hot take on that show was great player. They just added going to be a problem. We're not going to enjoy watching Michael Parsons in this division. He's going to, he's going to cause probably a lot of headaches, but I think the Packers are going to end up regarding this. In the long term, I think the Packer, and I still feel that way. And this is exactly why you allocate this much money to your salary cap at a position where there's not a lot of proof that it leads to Super Bowl. A lot of these guys don't even make the playoffs. Like Miles Garrett's on the ground. Next cross me is on the Raiders, right? That's why he wants to get out of there right now. You go on top of that to also give up draft capital. This is all leading to me trying to tell you I would much rather spend that money. The best center available right now with the proven evidence we saw last year of what that means to this offense and the Ben Johnson, and it could actually be an upgrade. I would much rather allocate those resources to Tyler Linderbaum.

26:45If it isn't either or than trading from Max Cross. So you're going to get no pushback from me. I hate trading draft picks. The money, it'll hurt, but again, you can get creative and figure out how to finagle the cap when you have to do it. Obviously, I'm not, I'm not the, the cap doesn't matter guy, but I am the, I'd rather, I'd rather work out finagling the cap versus giving up draft picks. You, you, and plus, listen, you're building the team around the quarterback, man. That relationship with the center, it's intimate. I mean, you put your hand on his butt. How many times the game, it's a, like that relationship matters. Like those two are in it together. So outside of the fact that, you know, he's helping him out with protections and everything else. And you're, you're talking about getting the premium guy at the position in his prime.

27:46It's very rare. They come of L Max Cross. He's coming off an injured year and he's, you know, pushing 30 and that's not to say that Max Crosby doesn't have another three, four years in him. But if you're talking about adding a guy that's pushing 30, coming off injuries, giving up draft picks versus a dude that's going to pair with Caleb and beer for the next five years, and you basically know what you're going to get, it just feels a lot less risky to me. And the thing about the D line too, I'll just throw this much in there. No one can do it by themselves, man. You have to have a core group that's that can free the edge ruster as great as he is. And Max Crosby had a ton of tackles for the last last year, Stephen, I were looking to those numbers. We'll talk about that coming up in a little bit here. I mean, the guy was in the back field a ton. So the elite of the elite can, but as far as the overall impact of the defense, one guy's not going to do it alone, which is another reason why I'm a little less likely to do it. Because you do, you do need help in the middle to really unlock with the full potential of what that guy could be. And you need to do it now before he falls and I don't know if they have it.

28:49I know they don't have it, actually. Now, if I want to play devil's advocate, which I always like to do to some even my own points, because I in general think there's multiple different ways to look at these things. You'll never get this. But the trivia question for who on this list actually, how far down the list you have to go to to find the edge ruster that was taking up that much of the salad cap they did win a Super Bowl. Do you remember Clark Hagans? No. I don't. No. I don't. Are you sure that's not Hayden Weijen, my guy from Iowa? I'm sure I'm saying his name completely correct, but the, the Weijenator, he's apparently signed a massive deal with the, with the Steelers. And in 2004, that took up 12.7% of their cap. And they did go on to win the Super Bowl, beating the Seattle Seahawks. And the wrinkle on that one is Ben Rathasberger was on a rookie contract at that time.

29:54So if you do want to sit here and say, well, get it done here in the next two years with Caleb Williams, there is a world where you can make that argument and say, yep, time is now go all in and get Linda bomb, get Max Crosby to you. You got this window here with it with with Caleb out of two year, you know, two years left on the rookie rookie party because you have to fit your option, but it'll go way up at that point. Um, that means that I think there's a lot of evidence here that says, if you had to pick, I'm going to go with the center over the address. Well, and the bigger question is, well, Ben Johnson said of that. And I would think that he might want the center too. So what did he do? Like follow the bright crumbs. Look, what do you do? What do you do? And he got here last year. Right, right, right. Trade for the best guard in football, trade for this other guard that I knew well from Detroit. And I think he was miscast and rams. That worked out pretty well. And then go pay them the number one center available, Drew Dalman in free agency. Right. And then I got to do it again. But it would leave me to believe that they're going to be highly motivated to take that

30:55very seriously. Do all that. And I will unlock your second, your quarterback and he'll, you know, throw for 4,000 yards are almost right there and become the bear's all time leading pastor for one season. Uh, before I move on, hug, when you're by yourself, have you had had had any moments where you alter the last name of the bear's potential center in Linderbaum? Those last four letters. Like when he was made fun of as a kid, which maybe he wasn't growing up in Salon, Iowa because he's a big dude. He's a center. Go for Linder, bum. Linder, bum. Linder bust. Linder butt. Linder, like there's a million, like Linderbaum is an unbelievable name. And never cross my mind once. Okay. Cause I've been sitting there and I can't say on the show, the words that have been coming out of my mouth in my car by myself, Linder, and then I have thrown.

31:55And anybody else there in the chatland, if you'd like to add out what names you've been thrown on there, cause I'm sure there are some that. Well, it's just, you know, it's Friday show, Linder, something, uh, but hey, pay him. Linderbaum. Linder my man. Linder up. Linder, Linder elite, Linder, Linder bear, Linderbaum, Linderbaum, nothing, no, you know what I'm talking about. Come on. Um, all right. That's just, that's my, that's my number one reason why I want him to come here because it's just a great name. Uh, Steven's got a Max Crosby thing that we should get to here, uh, thank you. Tony. He also has a, uh, a center in the draft that he wants to talk about that is a, perhaps a Tyler Linderbaum clone, not Linderbaum, but Linderbaum, Linder stud, Linder, stud clone.

36:10it as card is feeling great, Jeremy Fowler, ESPN, the news breaker himself joining us here on CHGO Bears. Jeremy, thanks for making time. We appreciate having you back here. Let's just get right into it. Your reaction to everything the bears are doing, like jump in here, whichever way you want to go from the DJ, more trade, to releasing, to remain, to, you know, just how they're going to pivot with the Drew Dalman news. Yeah, great to be with you. So yeah, it's been a lot of process, the DJ, more trade made a ton of sense. I mean, he was clearly the third wheel, I guess, on the offense and they got real value. In fact, they got a second round pick is huge, you shed cap space, it just made a lot of sense. You let the young guys play Luther Burton and Colson Loveland roll with those dudes. And then, you know, it's interesting because when they made that move, you start to wonder like, okay, well, are they going to go after pass rush, defense? Like, are they going to load up on that side with some of the capital they now have? I don't, at one point I thought they were in on Crosby.

37:11I do think they've very least checked in on it. I don't believe they're really in it now. They actually feel okay at pass rush, but there's, they're going to add to the defense. They wouldn't shock if they try to get some interior help. You know, they're going to have to do some of their secondary and they know that. So they're going to have to spend a little bit there, whether it's bringing Kevin Byard back or getting a new safety. So, you know, they're going to be some moves we made linebacker, you know, say Alex Anzaloni is the name I'm watching. He was with this Alan in New Orleans back in the day Detroit linebacker, good and good. You know, you can get him at a lesser clip. So those will be the kind of things I'm watching for Chicago, moving forward here. Jeremy, what you mentioned the Crosby stuff, I just, are you, are you able to get a sense for, is that market just kind of going back up and is that just getting too rich for some of the teams like the players? Well, I would also categorize as like interested, but to a point.

38:11Yeah, I just think that the market was always really high. You know, they wanted to first round picks plus a player and you know, he's going on 29 years old. Great elite player, but you know, it's not the same situation as say Michael Parsons who was 24 years old and probably a little more prolific. So because of that, you know, it's, it's hard to give up as much as Green Bay gave up for Michael. And that makes it difficult. So it's like he's a great player, but what's the threshold? So you're kind of dealing with that, but he's a guy that can put a team over the top too. So Dallas is looking hard at it. You know, it's tough. The Bears love draft picks, Ryan Poles loves the draft. He saw the value of that with DJ Moore or excuse me with the Bryce Young trade for the number one overall pick and they were able to rebuild their whole team. So if you do it right, you know, you can really hit it. You know, Seattle's roster, look at the way they just won a Super Bowl. It was with a lot of draft picks and then you supplement with the rest. So you know, that, that seems to be the model. I just don't know if Ryan Poles is comfortable giving up two ones.

39:13What do you think happens with Tyler Linderbaum, Jeremy? We're, we've been, before you came out, hoax making a point that perhaps that should be the Bears number one target. So yes, I, well, they're going to get a center. I don't know if it's going to be Linderbaum. You know, teams that I believe are in on him will be, well, would have been the chargers, but they signed Tyler Beodish today. The Raiders, you know, the giants to a point. I don't know if they're willing to get in that price range despite John Harbaugh's connectivity with him. And then, you know, Tennessee Titans are looking hard at centers and could be top of market. So you're going to have some suitors. He's got enough teams in his market that he could leave Baltimore and be comfortable. I don't know if that Chicago, I don't sense that right now, but they're going to get somebody, you know, and they got Ryan Bates in house that they could resign, they could go eat another starter. There's some other guys out there, you know, Conor govern is a good player who will probably get maybe something close to a Drew Dolman contract from last year. So maybe you backfill with something like that. All right, I don't mean to put you on the spot here because this news was kind of fresher,

40:17but Taylor Decker out in, in Detroit, obviously, obviously connections there to Ben Johnson, Bears also need a left tackle and a one-year stopgap would maybe make sense with Ozzie Trappell's injury. Just wondering if you have any intel on that possibility, maybe where the hard thing is to kind of know what his market would be and what he actually turned down in terms of a pay cut in Detroit. Yeah, my sense is that, you know, he's been a good player for a long time, but it kind of started to slow down and physically beat up a little bit. So I don't necessarily sense that he's going to be hot on the market right now. It could be wrong. He was a good player, but, you know, if you're Chicago, you could bring back Braxton Jones who really didn't play much last year, but he's got 44 starts, you could put him in a proven situation on a one-year and then, you know, he can go and try to play well and make money elsewhere in 2027 and then you bring back Ozzie. That, to me, would be the cleanest way to do it, but, you know, we'll see, we'll see how it shakes out. But the big one is Trent Williams, you know, if he's released by San Francisco, that's

41:18the one that would shift the market and it wouldn't, wouldn't necessarily be Taylor Decker. It would be more Trent Williams, you know, if somehow with his huge cap hit, 49ers realize they just can't do anything else and can't get him to a long-term deal and he wants to go elsewhere, you know, do they cut bait from now till, say, Tuesday? A couple more here real quick, Jeremy, do you have any idea what the market is for Kevin Baird right now? Because that was a big time leader in the Bears lock room. They'd like to have him back when it hasn't happened yet. Yeah, I don't sense that he's like top of market because those are more for the younger guys, but he will do well. You know, he's going to have a nice little price tag and, I mean, the guy's got great ball skills. Chicago wants him back. You know, he's 32, I believe. Excuse me. Sorry. 32. So, you know, puts a cap on on his earning power a little bit probably, but it just seems like a natural fit. Yeah, I was operating all along as if the Bears would move on from to quantum brisker and bring back Baird, you know, lock room guy has the ball skills, and then they could maybe use the draft for the other safety.

What do you think they're hogger? Um, I don't, I think the most interesting stuff there was it was him saying the Bears have kind of backed out on Crosby a little bit. I just looked at, there's been Diana Rossini, um, who's, who's awesome and gives us her time a lot on Hogan, Josh, she, she was tweeting this morning that, you know, to keep an eye on the Cowboys, the Cowboys. I mean, we, we talked about on yesterday's show.

43:21I think that was yesterday. Like they just seem like a total wild card in all this because no one seems to have any idea what they're doing. They're training Mike apart since one day and, you know, now they're potentially going to go after Max Crosby. I just, not only do I, look, I just did the whole segment on giving up cap space and, and, and draft capital, I'm, I'm still, that doesn't, don't confuse that with me being out on Max Crosby. I'm just, I made that point to prioritize Tyler Linderbaum over Crosby. I love Max Crosby. I've been one of the biggest Max Crosby fans since he entered the league. Uh, he was once upon a time in a Hogue mock draft for the Bears and that would have been great. And they made that move, right? But, you know, to give up two first round picks, I think would be a massive mistake. I would criticize that if the Bears can get them for one first round pick and, you know, other things, fine, but two first round picks, mortgaging that, especially considering next year's draft is supposed to be even better. I would have a huge problem with that.

44:22And I don't think Ryan Poles is going to do that. I think Jeremy made a great point, you know, bringing up Ryan Poles, prioritizing the draft, what it means. It's a year where maybe you're willing to give up a first rounder because of the situation, what you need. It's not a great draft class comparative to other years, but to do it next year, I'd have a big massive problem with that. It sounds like if that's where this Crosby market's going, the Bears would be, you know, backpedally not a bit. Yeah. Um, I, I, I hope he's right. Bottom line. Listen, you can't, you can try to be LA Ram, uh, super aggressive. And say F them picks and do all that. That's great. If you're always right, you, you, you got to be right on the trades, you got to be right on your draft picks. You got to, you got to hit a home run on the, you know, go get Matthew Stafford and have him, you know, continue into his late 30s and still be super productive, uh, you know, it's worked out for them. Congratulations. That they've, they've had a fantastic run. But that's a tough way to do it, uh, not that there's any easy way to do it.

45:25You're trying to win the Super Bowl and the most competitive, uh, you know, sports world that there is. So it's, it's hard, but I, I still just prefer the old fashioned, knock it out through the draft, man. A lot of good players out there. That's why you pay your scouts. That's why you have a good coaching staff that you've now hired that you're paying 13 million to the head coach to evaluate guys, lean into it. It should be a strength for you. This is what you, this is what you get paid for. And, and that's your best, your best chance at long term success or even high level success in the NFL. I also throw this in this is my, my own intuition into the conversation. I find it hard to believe there's a team that's going to give up two wants. Now, I may eat those words and be wrong, but I will, if I am wrong, I'm going to say that that team's wrong for doing that. It just, it doesn't add up to me right now. When you consider, I saw somebody in the comments just said it, the mileage on, on his body back to back years where he's had an offseason surgery, including the fact that he's hurt right now. He just had a meniscus, a meniscus surgery.

46:27You don't know what he's going to be. And when making a move this big and giving up draft capital, you, you need more certainty over what he is. I, I, you know, good for some team that does that, but I find that hard to believe. And I don't know if the vague, vague, you know, Vegas is trying to inflate his market right now or what's going on. I'm sure there's at least a little bit of that going on. It just seems crazy to me. Yeah, listen, to your point, if somebody was offering two first round picks as much as the Raiders are thinking about trading him, I don't think they'd be thinking about it anymore. I think they'd be doing it. You know, you're going to draft the number one overall. You're going to draft your quarterback number one overall. You're rebuilding your roster. It's not, you're not trying to win this season. You, you need to restock the, the cupboard over there. I would think they would have done it. All right, Steven, you're up, buddy. First of all, a lot of people talk about Conor with government. That's absolutely a possibility for the bearer. I would love that. That's a good thing. But you have a draftable center from the Stephen Nicholas brilliant draft, not quite Fran Duffy level, but yet not too far behind either. Who do you want to put out there for us? All right, we're going to talk about Iowa a lot lately.

48:30I'm going to write back to the well Logan Jones. So what's interesting about him is I really do think he's a Tyler Linderbaum clone, and I say that because Tyler Linderbaum also played at Iowa. It gets more interesting is he was the successor to Linderbaum in Iowa. So 2022 comes around. Linderbaum's out 25th pick of the draft goals of the Ravens. Logan Jones comes in. They followed the exact same track. Both of them were defensive tackles at Iowa that were converted to centers. And if that's not interesting enough that I was like, well, you know, let's go see if lightning could strike twice here, which it did. Look at some of the measurables here. These are the rare scores coming out of college and here at the combine. You see the size Logan Jones 6-2-2-99 and Tyler Linderbaum here is 6-2-2-96. So you're at like the pretty much the same spot right there. Or do you are dash? We actually see that Logan Jones was a bit faster than Linderbaum. So that's interesting to me as well. Identical broad jump and then almost identical vertical as well. So I mean, these guys are very, very similar.

49:31And I think if the bears do opt to go the cheap route or maybe find a one-two-year stop gap, Logan Jones could be a guy that, you know, is kind of the successor once again to whoever the bears opt to fill that need with at center. I switched out the northwestern pen for the Iowa pen. And maybe that was a mistake today considering our topics of conversation. We'll still represent it in the ads. So that's true, that's true. Listen, I just think it's a lot to ask a rookie center to come in with Caleb. And that's how I, but if, you know, if you interview the dude and you think he's smart enough to come in and pick up the offense and handle it and he's got some, you know, upper level leadership skills, which I would think you would need. It does. Yeah. And leadership is one of the things. I know friend of even put it in his draft guide. That's one of the things that they law them for. He's a great leader. He's, you know, leader by example and also vocal as well. He's got around, late round three, early round four projection. Maybe the bears end up getting that compic that would fall right in that exact spot.

50:34Plus now they have the extra second. They can move back. There's a lot more options now after the DJ more trades. So I mean, this could be the guy that falls right in the bear's lap and he also fills a need. What do you think, one difference? It's here. Well, it's almost a similarity to, but it's not the good similarity. Um, Logan Jones is 24. He will be turning 25 this season. Same. Tyler Linderbaum is currently what age? 25, 25. Experience doesn't only support you that I get your point. I'd rather have a younger guy too that, you know, you have time to develop a little bit more. But experience could also be a good thing where there's a much faster developmental curve. And you just, it's the ground running. For me personally, while I pitched this as a possible, you know, replacement, my ideal scenario is the bears to do find somebody in free agency. And they also draft somebody that does eventually become that, that guy.

51:34So that's why I think Logan Jones could be a good fit for the bears. But preference would still be go top of the market. Get a counterme cover and get a Tyler Linderbaum. I mean, the deal with what you're talking about is you're, you're trying to hit a home run. Let me identify somebody as a rookie. You can step it and do it. It's a, it's a big swing. But if you connect, you really set yourself up, you know, in a big time way. So it's, it's intriguing. Look, I, I was saying that this was a position of need even before we knew Dolman was retiring. So I, you know, draft, drafting an interior swing, offense alignment, I think is very much on the table for the bears because, you know, that bringing Jeremy mentioned bringing Ryan Bates back, which I guess could be a possibility. But did he get snaps last year? Like any? Well, he didn't need to. He, I mean, he did on special teams on, on, well, that was the one part of the interview where Jeremy might have been a tad bit off. I don't think they're bringing back Ryan Bates. If they felt that good about him, I feel like he would have gotten some snaps at least at guard.

52:37I like, I think they're, well, they kept playing. Well, I mean, they could have put him there. So Jordan McFadden. Well, that's a good point. Yeah, Jordan McFadden played. The Bates Motel is going to be having resident, the vacancy is going to be elsewhere, enough with the Bates Motel. The, I don't think that made any sense. It definitely did. I don't know what you're going to say, but that made no sense. The Bates Motel is franchise. Why is it a motel? Because it's in a song, the Bates Motel. By my guy, Joe, Joe something. Hold on. Double A, the wide receiver. Could be stepping in for DJ Moore. Aaron Anderson. Aaron, I got you as a gadget guy coming in immediately and contributing in Chicago in Ben Johnson's office with Caleb Williams. What do you think of that idea? Um, it's a blessed opportunity. But, you know, when I get that, get my fee wet, you know, I'm going to show them why I should be a starter. You know, I should, you know, get my fee wet immediately now. So what gives you the confidence that you can hit on that level? Um, you know, like I said, I'm a compete. I'm a competitor. So like, you know, I know a lot of the vets. You know, they don't want they, you know, from rookies or any younger guys coming and taking these spots. So now my mentality is to work a hundred times harder than what he does. So it's to be my mindset going into NFL. How comfortable, how comfortable are you in the return game?

55:40Well, I'm comfortable. I'm a hundred percent comfortable. You know, that's my favorite thing to do. You know, that's what special teams starts from, you know, the first player of the game is special teams. So I feel like that's what a momentum and energy comes at. So have you had a chance to meet with Chicago? Um, not really. I ain't really meet with Chicago. But, you know, a little, a little, a quick little interview. It wasn't really a lot. You know, it was, it was like, I ain't why, why I grew up from where I come from. You know, I really had the opportunity to really sit down and speak ball or talk ball over them. What do they call? Right. So the bears are not interested. Yeah, that part did wasn't great. Uh, but, you know, don't listen. But that's just, you know, he's, you know, he's the Anderson's just not being, he's being coy. And, you know, Bragg just had to run the interview with that stupid ask question, uh, with all the respect. Greg Greg. You didn't, you didn't just get a Jeremy Fowler. Shout out Braggs on that. Yeah. No, no, Braggs is my, is my hero. Braggs is the greatest. Braggs is everything. If I, I'd be nothing without Greg Braggs. You're hanging from there. And actually, if I was to be, I suppose giving him credit,

56:43I would say that Braggs is ruined the interview because he just nailed the fact that bears aren't interested. But the bears, hey, that was that. And that's certainly bottling. Yeah, and Aaron Anderson, uh, Fran Duffy has as a seventh rounder or UDFA. So you don't get to talk to everybody at the combine. Maybe it's as possible. He's just farther down on the list right now. Um, here's the thing though. The, do you know who Fran Duffy's comp is? For Aaron Anderson. I do not know. Daz Newsom. There you go. The great Daz Newsom didn't work out. But, you know, maybe it could have been, and if they had Caleb and, and you're a guy, um, can't play music on the stream. I know. I know. The song is from Tony Joe White. So there's a Joe in the middle name. It's called Love MD. That's the song. So I said I would find it. And there it is. Love MD. Go listen to it after the show. The baseball tells you the penalty box right now. Why love MD? Why are we doing this?

57:44You know what I like about Aaron Anderson? Oh, he could return kicks. He's really fast. That bears need both of those things. He's a slot receiver. Alamedez probably gone in free agency. And yet don't need to ask too much of him in the receiving game right out of the gate. So you get ease him in. He is a really fast. Had he run the 40 yard dash to the combine, which unfortunately he didn't. Almost nobody did. We probably would have seen him run in the mid to low four threes. So he is extremely fast. I've actually surprised his grades that low after doing my calm watching his highlights. He makes a lot of plays, man. That he makes plays down the field. He makes plays underneath. He's got a little shimmy shake to him. He's once he does not want to go down when you when he catches the football. Five seven. Yes, he's sick though, dude. He's a thick five seven. All right. You I know Stephen also want to talk about Kate and Proctor. Let's bring this up in the kind of bring the podcast full circle. We were talking about Taylor Decker earlier. Would you rather go Taylor Decker?

58:46Stop gap. Yes, it costs money, but you're not using the first round pick on him. Or Kate and Proctor is more of a long term hopeful solution. I mean, for me, I'd probably take the sure thing. If you're going to go over with Kate and Proctor, you're probably going pick number 25. I do think there's bigger needs that pick 25 and left tackle. But you know, let me let me pull up his rest score here because very, very interesting prospect. He is huge. He's listed at six six and a half three hundred fifty two pounds. He said that's right around his ideal playing weight. We'll play a little cup from him in a second. The only thing that I didn't love about him was his bench was surprisingly low. Twenty five reps for a guy his size. I was expecting in the thirties and that's really weird because he reportedly had a max bench price of five hundred and thirty five pounds. And you know, what's the other thing that's kind of cool about him. He blocked for both Jalen Milero and Ty Simpson in college. I think those are two very different style of quarterbacks. So that's really interesting to me.

59:46We did kind of. Brex talked to him at the combine on Saturday. And one of the things that came up was his playing weight. He actually came into last season at three hundred and ninety pounds, which is massive for a left tackle. He's now closer to his ideal playing weight around three fifty. I'll just toss this interview right now. We'll get some of our answers on Kate and Proctor. Okay, Nick, that's the next level. Do you think you can move the guard and what skill to kind of translate? You know, I feel I feel more comfortable left tackle because that's where I've got all my snaps. But if I do need to move inside, then, you know, there's no problem with that. If I'm playing, then I'm happy. What's up with Steelers at all? I have this. What's the process for you in terms of trying to perfect your pad level? It's really just understanding that I'm a big guy and that like it takes time and it takes work. I mean, that's the one glaring thing that I've been focusing on, you know, fixing, you know, these past couple months in the past couple of years and just doing my best weekend and week out focusing on those.

1:00:48What feedback are you getting from teams in terms of the playing weight you'd like to be at? Yeah, I've told them that I'm in the three fifties. Anything under three fifty five right now, that feels really good to me. That's where I've been in the mid season through the last season. You know, obviously being three sixty five and three seventy isn't a good way for me to play at. So I figured that understood that. But if any team gives me a weight, then I can go down and see that. It's a great job by Gregory being there on Saturday. And what is this graphic? This is one of my nerd graphics. This is a spider chart. So this shows Kaden Proctor compared to other offensive tackles, the offensive tackle average. So you could see where he's like better and maybe a little bit worse than other offensive tackles. Powered core grip strength, physicality, obviously his size and also with hand usage. And the size goes without question at, you know, six six three hundred fifty right now. So Kaden Proctor does measure above average in a lot of key categories as an offensive tackle.

1:01:52And you know, he's definitely someone that's interesting. I could see the team like the Eagles going after him.
