1:08Here we go folks, we're getting closer. Elite 8 is here. Man, I remember just yesterday when that beautiful bracket back there had 68 teams in it, and now we're down to eights. We've got three one seeds remaining. The lone one seed, as we all know, eliminated. That would be the Florida Gators. We've got two one versus two matchups. The East Regional Final will be a one versus two. The West Regional Final will be a one versus two. We've got a three versus nine, and all big 10 showdown in the Midwest. And then actually, that's in the South of Beg your pardon. And then the Midwest, we've got a one versus six. So a lot of people will be sweating out the prop of over under seeds in the final four, eight and a half, nine and a half, depending on what you got it. If chalk holds, you're feeling pretty good. But if Iowa pulls off the stunner in the first game of the Elite 8, you are toast. That thing is not going to come home. You know, we've got so much going on. We're focused almost exclusively on college basketball here today. But I had to give

The NL East is the first division in MLB history to have all its teams start. One and a half. I was really hoping. I remember back in 2008, the nationals opened up the season with a walkoff win against the Braves and their new stadium they started three and oh, eventually became the worst eventually went on to be the worst team in all of baseball. But I reminded all of my college roommates for those three days. But the national the best team in baseball. I was hoping to do the same right now, but they're still just tied for first and inevitably will be a complete nutter disaster because that team is not very good. But NL East first division in baseball. Have all of its teams start. One and oh, Rocco Miller are going to join us live from the Bay area coming up at less than 15 minutes Matt humans on his

3:17contest plays. We just went through mine here a little while ago and Yukon Duke was a play that I had in the under. I've kind of gone back and forth early betting splits and as you heard from Thomas Gable from the Borgata 95% of the bets are going to still come in on Yukon Duke. It's a last game on Sunday, five o'clock Eastern tip. They're in Washington DC, but early early betting split action favors Yukon at 74%. That said, St John's was a very popular dog yesterday and game landed five. But it certainly felt like Duke was more than on the ropes. They were down 10 outscored St John's 35 to 20 to close out the game. And I mentioned it last hour regarding Caleb Foster and how vital Caleb Foster was for that win for Duke. And what does that mean moving

4:18forward for tomorrow's game? 19 days ago, he had foot surgery. And now he is playing in a game. Had 11 points in the second half, 12 minutes in the second half. He was a plus seven. And then you see him scooting around post game on a scooter. So how is he feeling today? How does he feel tomorrow? How effective will he be against Yukon? But let's hear from John Shire post game. And his thoughts of what he saw from Caleb Foster in last night's win. I was hoping we could get eight minutes from tonight, you know, eight to 10 minutes. Give Caden, you know, a couple of quick hits where he could again, knowing what their pressure was going to be like, he completely surpassed my expectations of what I expected what I was hoping for. And obviously you guys saw we needed every last shot basket, poise. He was also the guy. He's a he's the most experienced guy in these moments.

5:23So I thought his voice and the huddle, the look he had was was completely determined to win. And I thought that really helped us, especially when we got down on the second half. You know, you looked at Caden Booser. I'm not trying to knock Caden Booser because he had played well in the ACC tournament at times. Thought he played well against Sienna. But he was struggling against that pressure of St. John's Duke was as were most teams at face St. John's pressure. Caleb Foster was enormous in that win. As was Isaiah Evans, Isaiah Evans, 25 points in the win, four, three pointers. It clutch shots. And then Cameron Booser, 22 points and 10 boards for Cameron Booser. When you need him to step up, he just gets the ball lowers his shoulder and gets to the rim. And Rick Patino even talked about that post game regarding Duke just at the end of the day, becoming as crazy as it sounds a little bit more tough inside than the Johnny's. We made some good

6:27plays in his own. So we missed a foul line jump shot. We missed a wide open three. So I don't think that was as much as a defense, you know, a defense. When we were up 10 update, we had no Rubin made a mistake. He and made no block out. We had bully drives, bully drives, bully drives. So it was a defense that broke down, but just it wasn't so much not being in the right place. We just got bully to the basket and they do that to a lot of teams. That's why the number one ranked team in the country. We couldn't defend the bully drives. 22 points for Booser, download 10 boards. And now you got another day for Patrick Gangba to get healthy. And speaking of bully, Harris read could be a bully. And you saw it against Furman in the first round, 31 points, 27 rebounds. Last night against Michigan State, Ken Pum gave him the MVP of the game, 20 points, five boards, four assists for terrace read. To me, when I think about this matchup and why I did go

7:32under in the contest here for Duke and Yukon, it's what Rick Patino just said, bully. You know, are we going to get a bully type of game here with a terrace read versus Booser versus Gangba down low? Who shows up for Yukon? You know, when you think about how Yukon wins this game, Silas Demarry another day to get healthy as he was out for the first round game against Furman, are you going to get a better performance from solo ball? He certainly played much better against Michigan State than he did against UCLA. He had 12 points last night in the victory over Michigan State. But Alex Karabin to me, if Yukon's to win this game or cover this game, doesn't it feel like Alex Karabin on Sunday afternoon in the nation's capital is going to make a big play. He's stepped up. He is one of the most, he is one of the winningest players in college

8:33basketball history. I've got a pretty crazy stat for you here in just a second from Evan Abrams. But Alex Karabin and his importance to this team Dan Hurley, very aware of it. He's a calming influence for me. I'm waiting for you to laugh. No, it's, you know, it's like having like an associate head coach that is in the locker room that lives in the apartments that is in the dining, is in the weight room, is peer-pressuring as teammates to do actually. I mean, it's like, you know, it's like having a top assistant that's on your team and always around the players who's that mature was approach. And, you know, he's, you know, I'm just glad that, you know, again, the decision to come back for this last year that, you know, he's been able to play as well and, and, and, you know, his last kind of run has been, has been fun. And, obviously, he's improving his, his, his draft stack and, and he's established himself as the biggest winner and the most decorated

9:39player in UConn history. And that's hard to do at a place like ours. One, two national titles, as is that man who just talked right there, but we're a betting network. Okay, cool. You win a lot. But what about for a betting standpoint, Dan Hurley is currently on a run of 16 and one, ATS in the NCAA tournament. As Evan Abrams pointed out, Dan Hurley now, nine and oh, ATS in the sweet 16 or later, 13 and oh, against his spread in the round of 32 or later with UConn. Right now, there are five point underdog. So I don't blame anybody looking to take the points with UConn. My guess I haven't seen humans plays yet. My guess is that UConn will more than likely be on his card. But how about this? When you look at all time wins in the NCAA tournament from a player standpoint, Stucky, over the action network pointed out it's this list, Christian Latener one with 21, Bobby Hurley, two with 18. Alex Caravan three with 16. So he can't catch Christian Latener. Christian

10:43Latener won a title in 91, won a title in 92, lost in the final four of 1990. But against the spread, Alex Caravan is 16 and one. So it goes hand in hand, obviously, with Danny Hurley being on a 16 and one stretch against the spread. But Alex Caravan being on UConn is a machine from a covering standpoint. Christian Latener 16 and seven ATS, Bobby Hurley, 15 and five against the spread. So Alex Caravan and Dan Hurley covering monsters right now. When it comes to the NCAA tournament right now, you have Duke as a five or five and a half point favorite. But when I think about Duke and didn't they take every single punch for a St. John's team to go 13 hit 13 threes for, you know, to have someone come off the bench for

Rocco, let's jump right into it. You know, Arizona after the performance we saw on Thursday night against Arkansas, it feels like they got a bit of a coronation and saying, all right, Arizona

15:03onto the final four. And Purdue, as we know, they needed everything to beat Texas to get a tip in at the buzzer. I'm just not there yet, man. I think Purdue and the style that they have, the veteran savviness that they play with. I expect this to be a war. I personally have bet Purdue plus six. I'm curious your expectations for this game and your breakdown for Purdue, Arizona tonight in San Jose. Yeah, I generally agree with that. I think this game could be near a coin flip. Obviously, Arizona is the stronger side and general, but I think Purdue has a lot of angles in terms of experience. In terms of you look at the personnel, the starting five for Purdue and the Texas win. You know, they all went for double figures and everybody contributes in different ways. And they're all there's really no weak links with with the Purdue offense. And effectively, they're they're fundamentally responsible, right? And I think that was the huge problem

16:08with Arizona and Arkansas, the Arkansas side of things, of course. You know, you look at the NCAA tournament, Arizona's out. Got teams from the satellite. One hundred and eleven, the forty six. Purdue is not that vulnerable team that Arizona's been picking on. They're actually like eighth best in the country, not fouling. It was a big challenge with with their matchup with Texas, was Texas. Actually, that was their strong suit. Seventh best in the country. I get in the line or do mostly past that categorical test. And I think when you look at the matchup, you know, Purdue and Arizona, they should go possession for possession in a way where we should have a war. And that's kind of where I agree with you. Rocco Miller, once again, given us the breakdown for tonight's game out in San Jose, but you know, Rocco will give us some thoughts on the games tomorrow as well. You know, Arizona, a team that has had high hopes has really excelled under Tommy

17:12Lloyd, but haven't gotten to the final four yet. What do you, do you, do you, you take any of the previous years postseason shortcomings and spin it into today? Or is this a completely different monster, if you will, for Arizona? And is that, does that sink in at all in your opinion? That's an amazing question because yesterday when I spent two hours with Arizona, that's exactly what went through my mind in terms of the history. You know, obviously Tommy Lloyd has not got past the squeegee in this year he did. And that was the first in five years in his tenure with the Wildcats. You also think back like I spent a lot of years going to Arizona, shot Miller games in this round, the elite eight. I remember going with a friend of mine saying, and I'm watching them lose the bull riding in Wisconsin. And they have it multiple times. And so it's a different time. It's a different time. That's the right answer. I think you look at the, the guys that are producing for Arizona,

18:17obviously, Jayden Bradley's the head of the snake, and the majority of their excellence when they're when they're producing offensively, but they also have Bradenburys and co-op heat. You've questioned them that are agnostic to any of this historical stuff. You look at a crevice in the middle, just a gigantic Lithuanian that is, you know, I mean, I'm pretty sure he doesn't care too much about any of the history. You look at Crachnacap, right? Crachnacap is a guy that he just wants to win. These guys are, these guys are bulldozing winners. And that's the way Arizona's played all year. I don't think any of the historical stuff matters too much, but I think it taught them for probably the same thing. But I think with Purdue, you know, it does that. And maybe that's where Arizona's going to be met at their, you know, at the point of attack, who is just that, or do you expect to win? Let's not forget. Purdue was the pre-season number one team. And now Arizona's

19:17the number one team, where they were yesterday in Kempom. Now I looked at this morning Michigan took them by like one decimal point, but you get what I'm saying. I think we have ourselves a battle because Purdue expectations are huge. So that's that's the real extractor. You know, Rocco, what changed? And as you were there, you were covering shoot around yesterday. What has changed with this Purdue team? Because it felt like as the season was moving on, it was man, there's something wrong. You're hearing about internal issues. They lose five games at home, which is just unheard of for Purdue with one of the best home court advantages. And then they go to Chicago and everything changes. They win four games in four days. They beat Michigan to wrap things up in that big 10 tournament. And here they are in the elite eight, which, you know, you go back to the start of the season to your point. Hey, producing the elite eight. Of course they are. They're the pre-season number one team. On March 7th, I told you, producing the elite eight, you'd be probably maybe a little surprised. So what do you think has changed with this Purdue team

20:20from March 7th when they lost senior day to Wisconsin to March 28th? Yeah, I think some of it, you know, I talked to them about it. Some of it is the schedule, you know, the last 10 days of the regular season. Wisconsin machines came to our full, you know, difficult points, that's applied for Purdue, both home games. They wouldn't think they'd feel overwhelming. But they also went to a third-gen Ohio State team on the road. They lost that game as well. And they went to Northwestern in between. So it wasn't like any extreme travel. I just think they hit a point in the schedule where, you know, they were willing to explore a little bit with the playmaking and some of the things backfired defensively as well. And when they got to the big tournament, Matt Dean and just masterful coach have been doing this for decades, like two, three decades, you know,

21:23walked them in and he said, hey, we got to have a good tournament because it's our chance to kind of get right. And then they end up winning the whole thing. I don't think they went there thinking they had to win the whole thing, but they did everything just came together because they are a bunch of seniors that have better leadership. They wanted to just dial in and throw away things that weren't working. And I think they got them locked in for the tournament. I was trying to figure that out all day yesterday myself. So very, very valid question, but I think that was a big part of it with a backload schedule. And then, all right, guys, before we're here now, it's March, which was locked in. Rocco Miller, he'll be on, on site tonight for the West Regional Final. Before I let you run Rocco, tomorrow night to wrap up the Elite 8 Duke Yukon 12 in the East region. 22:23Foster. What are you expecting tomorrow night? Because Danny Hurley, apparently after the first round doesn't lose games ever. It's crazy, isn't it? Yeah, I'm expecting Yukon to play extremely well. You know, getting with Duke games has just, unfortunately, and, for Duke, fortunately, become the story. You know, they were down in 10, but within about a minute, they got it back down to three against St. John. And eventually, flip that game by the seven minute mark and Duke was in control within those last four minutes. And, you know, with Yukon, they've just been dominant in tournament play under Dan Hurley. This isn't just this year, as you know, Tim. This is pretty much the entire tenure with Mr. Hurley. And I think back to last year, his real oldie loss in the tournament under the gov at Yukon was a Florida game they could have won. You know, it slipped away in the last couple of minutes, but they outplayed Florida, the national

23:25champions, the majority of that game. So I expect Yukon to have a masterful performance. Again, the fish dating, once again, will be massive in that game. And then Duke, they've really met the moment, you know, let's not forget. Cam Bouser, a guy who has three gold medals already for Team USA for nice school national championships, multiple AAU championships. He's never lost. He's, Cam Bouser's never lost in a tournament in his life. So we have so many extractors in that game. It's about as good of an elite eight matchup as you could ever dream of, you know, all those nostalgic facts. So I think we're just going to have a classic game between Yukon and Duke. So, you know, you just, you live and you learn, but Yukon came back and won the game last night and that's something very attractive, a situation for Yukon against Duke. I mean, I think these elite eight matchups are going to be great. Yeah, let's get to Duke and Yukon,

26:34because if I had to lay minus 500, it was that Yukon would be your best bet and it is. It's four and a half for the contest. It's up to five. Look, we've talked about it at nauseam as we should. Danny Hurley, all the dude does his cover in the NCAA tournament. He's on a 16 and one stretch as Yukon team is against the spread. The only non cover was in the first round this year against Furman. So you took the points with Yukon. I thought about laying Duke here, just for my game theory standpoint, I ultimately did not. I did play a little under in the contest, but you're on Yukon here and why is that going to be your best bet? Almost did not use Yukon as my best bet, because of the contest number was four and a half and in reality, the number is five, but, you know, the difference between four and a half and five should not matter. I hate to say that, because now it's going to land on five, but here's the deal. Duke has had an advantage in free throws in every game in this tournament, pretty significant advantage, too. And I don't think

27:38Danny Hurley's going to stand by and allow that to happen to Yukon. He's going to let the officials know about it. They start to get a favor Duke with the whistle, but I really was talking about this a lot before the Michigan State game that Alex Cheruban and Terrace Reed have been playing great down the stretch here, a couple of veteran players. Cheruban had 49 points in the first two games. Reed had 41 points, 40 rebounds, and I found if you could get Braille and Mullins and solo ball to step up and make a few threes, Yukon was going to be tough to beat. And I still think Yukon is going to be tough to be here against Duke. Now, this is not obviously a Yukon team that blows people away when you watch them and you don't say, this is a championship team. No, you don't, but you know what, they're not that far away from winning a championship right now, so you're knocked off Duke. They can certainly win that match up in the final four, no matter which big 10 opponent they get. So I think Yukon, if it starts, if it continues to hit some threes like

28:44the day last night against Michigan State, I think this is how it seems fully capable being in the championship game. And I've got a lot, I've got so much respect for Danny Hurley in this tournament. What is he now, Tim? I think 16 and one against the spread the past few years in this tournament. I don't want to bet against this guy. And I don't think if you're betting against him, you're going broke. So I'm playing Yukon again here just because I don't really love any of the other plays I have here. So I said, let's, let's go ahead and ride with Danny Hurley. He's been the best bet in the tournament the past few years. Matt Newman's hard to disagree with that. And I imagine when we get all the plays announced at 4 p.m. Eastern time one Pacific, there will be a handful of folks on Connecticut, but look, we have four picks to make. We only got eight options out there. So you and I have a common play. We also have a play where we'll be on the opposite side. Let's hit the common play first. And that's Purdue plus six. I put this in as my best bet.

29:45So buyer beware because I'm because I'm one in four on my best bet. So your boilermakers are probably screwed. But let's get to Purdue plus six against Arizona and why the Purdue whisperer is taking the points here with the boilermakers. I can't believe that's your best bet. I'm really surprised by that because I really thought that most people look at this game and say, well, Arizona is going to roll Purdue. And I think that's way the better in public. It's going to play the game. It's interesting when you wake up today. You went to bed last night, Arizona six. Now you see them five and a half. Short for money on the underdog in this game. And I've mentioned this so many times that people are probably tired of hearing me say it, but Purdue is a fade as a favorite. There's no question about it. When Purdue is a favorite, take the dog. When Purdue is a dog, that Purdue. This team is a totally different team as an underdog. And this is a favorite Purdue play. So they totally different edge as an underdog. You saw the big 10 championship game against Michigan

30:49couple weeks ago on a Sunday. And I know some people say, well, that game didn't matter to Michigan. They didn't care. Yeah, that's BS. Michigan played that game like it mattered. Michigan wanted to win the big 10 tournament that day. If you listen to dusty maze comments, if you will, that's the way it cuts the game. It certainly cared about winning that game. So it's, again, I think it's a roll reversal sort of situation where Purdue has been a favorite in the first three games in the tournament. And it's not looked at great. But now as an underdog, I think you're going to get everything this team's got. You're going to get this team's best shot. And I like taking the points here because I think the public is going to expect Arizona to grow. And I don't think that's going to happen. Well, I'm riding with the balls here just because this is the game I like the least. And I actually like the seriously, I like Michigan to win this whole thing. I think Michigan, Arizona, that's two teams. One of those teams is probably going to win the championship, but this is a lot of points to lay here against Tennessee team that again, it's going to give you its absolute best shot. So I don't tell you know how I handicap or hide bet. I don't like lay end points really over three. And this to me, this is one of those situations where I fully expect Michigan to win the game. And I'm not going to lay seven or seven and a half. So I just

32:51took the dog in a spot where I think Michigan's going to win. But maybe Michigan has to sweat this one out a little bit. All right, Matt, final play in your on your contest card.
