3:30look at some of the similarities, I know Florida has been bounced, but you look at Florida, Michigan and Arizona and two and a lesser extent due because Duke goes through their big, but Cameron Boosers, the guy that they can pull out and he could do a little bit of everything, but it's Booser. It's in Gangba down low. But you look at the size that Arizona has and Tommy Lloyd was asked about the makeup and construction of this roster, having so much size down low. And how it feels like a little bit of a throwback with this Arizona team in a day and age where it feels like we were going to spreading the floor and shooting threes all the time. This is an Arizona team that wants to run, but they get their bigs out and they go quite up and down as well. Tommy Lloyd asked about comparing this team to some old teams in recent memory. I'm playing the same exact style that we've learned at Gonzaga that I brought to Arizona and I'm doubling down on it. I'm not worried about trends. I never look at trends. I'm just like, what do I think is the most effective way to my team to play? And what are my strengths as a coach? You got to be out of playing to that too. Why would I try to reinvent myself as a coach when this has been pretty effective? Can I get better at it? Can we double down on our strength? What I do every day? I look at our strengths. And when I wake up in the morning, how am I going to honor our strengths? When I go to bed at night, how did I honor our strengths? Throughout the day, we'll work on some weaknesses. But for me, I'm always doubling down on my strength. That's 100% how I think we can be most effective. Call me crazy. There's something about Arizona that has been brought up and it didn't matter on Thursday. Be honest, it doesn't really matter all year. I mean,

5:33outside of a blip in the middle of February, this team has been unblemished. There are 35 and two basketball team. They lose on the road at Kansas in a unique scenario, playing bill cell for the Monday. You just can't possibly win at Fall Gallen, even if they don't have Darren Peterson. And then they lost a Texas tech at home. Outside of that, untouched. This is not a team that shoots the three. I mean, it's funny that we saw last night just the outrageous amount of threes shot by Alabama in their loss to Michigan. I mean, what I love about college basketball and college football is that you sit here and you look at games and you analyze games and you have teams that have success that are just so incredibly different. Alabama yesterday shot 47. Three pointers. Arizona shot eight against

6:38Arkansas and scored 109 points. They have proved to this point that they don't lead to three. When they shoot the three, they shoot it. Okay, it's not like they're a tragically bad three point shooting team, but they just don't shoot a ton of threes. Believe it or not, they're actually top 40 in the country at three point shooting percentage, but they don't shoot a lot of them because they have elite size down low, but they also have two really good guards and burries and Bradley. But I do wonder a bit about tonight knowing the style that we're going to see in front of us. You're going to see an uptempo team in Arizona and you're going to see a Purdue team that wants to slow things down, right? Purdue is a team that, as we saw against Texas, very efficient. They were efficient against Miami too. Against Miami, they went 50, 50 and 95, 50 plus percent from the field, 50 plus percent from three, 95 plus from the free throw line.

7:38Believe they were what just the third team in the last 25 years or so to accomplish those numbers. And this is a Purdue team that doesn't shoot a ton of threes, but shoots far more than Arizona. And they hit them at 38% clip. They're efficient down low. You know, the curiosity is the size. You have Oscar Kluff, you have Traykov and Ren, can they hang with Arizona? You know, I look at this total of 153 and I think it about playing under, but my worry is, you're talking about the most efficient offense in the country and Purdue and a top five offense in the country in Arizona. Purdue is not a elite defensive team. They're good defensive team, but they're not an elite defensive team. And they're going to have to really slow things down in my opinion against Arizona. And you also think too about when we're looking at

8:39these totals, do the nerves set in a little bit here in the elite eight as opposed to the final four. Everyone thinks, all right, you're in the final four. Oh my gosh. Well, now you're you're trying to get to the final four. You hang a banner for going to the final four. Do we see some of these games start off a little bit slower? We certainly didn't see that in Iowa taking on Nebraska. There was no such thing as a slow start in that one. So Purdue, Arizona, I like Purdue, plus the points. It will be a bet for me. You're starting to see the market coming a little bit on Purdue, Westgate, Superbook, Bed MGM, Draft Kings just went to five and a half, still six here at circa. I was hoping to get seven. I was just thinking maybe the the public would be infatuated with Arizona. It's possible. You could see some late steam come in on Arizona, but Purdue will be a bet for me. Thomas Gable curious to see how he is seeing the action on this game so far and how last night played out. He's going to join us in about five minutes here

9:40on the program. But the other game today, Iowa and Illinois and Illinois, we just heard from Brad Evans. As an Illinois fan, he's trying to thread the needle. He believes Illinois wins. He believes his beloved align eye are going back to the final four, but he thinks the numbers a little bit too high. He slimmed his whiteboard and broke his marker in the heart of ink everywhere. So it was very intense. And then Jessica coaches positive and stuff like that. That's what he likes to do. It's a negative guy. And then all right. It's just a question of the positive people. So it was just he was just telling us that we sucked and we were soft. That was Bennett Sturts by the way. The top player for Iowa on what Ben McCollum told him during the Bruton Nebraska game. And he said, we suck. You guys suck. Well, it works. They have a little good cop bad cop situation there, apparently with the coaching staff for Iowa with Ben McCollum. Like Ben McCollum has proven that

10:47he is an elite coach. And maybe McCollum who did not lead Iowa to a stellar record in big 10 play. They just went 10 to 10. And they also lost to Penn State and Maryland. But this is a Iowa team that has that is led by a coach that got Drake to a level that they hadn't gotten to before winning a first round game as we talked about winning multiple national championships at the D2 level. So making those quick adjustments, it certainly looks and feels like Iowa is in a good spot here. But then you look at Illinois and just the sheer size of Illinois. And man, I go back and forth on this one. I like Illinois as a short dog against Houston. They win that game 65 to 55. And now I'm thinking about how this game could play out.

11:49I think it's a slow game could be a very efficient game. But do we look at the under here in this Iowa Illinois game? Because Iowa, you think back to the first half against Nebraska. They were unbelievable as was Nebraska. You had a first half total in Iowa, Nebraska of 61. We had 89 points in that first half. What happened in the second half? We saw some regression. Do we see a little bit more of that in this game? And is this a little bit more of a lower scoring game? That's the way my mind is initially feeling for Iowa and Illinois. Seven points spread right now. A line I lay in a touchdown against the Iowa Hawkeyes. How are these games being bet? How did last night fair for the sports books? How was that result for you guys? The Johnny's get the cover, but they don't get the win. Yeah, so I guess they got a chance to catch one more ticket for the season. Last night, those who bet the Johnny's, but good for us because all the future liability is now wiped away there. So we're in pretty good shape with the remaining teams in terms of the future book. We're still a little bit of liability on Arizona, a small loser to them for the national title, but everybody else we're in very good shape on. So happy to see that liability gone. And it was three games in a row with the Johnny's where we needed

16:05their opponents to cover. And Duke, we're not able to cover last night, but decent result on the side. Also, a bit on the total. There was some some late over money that came in there right at post. I know that total got bet down closed at 140 and a half. But there was some late money that came in there right at post on the over. So they got paid. But the game looked up to the hype. The game looked up to the hype. It was a great, great game. And Johnny's gave them their best shot for sure. Wasn't I don't think many people predicted them to be shooting the way that they would, that they came out from especially from three. So, you know, Patino company did what they could there. But Duke, you know, shows why they're one of the best teams in the country and they move on. You know, spinning forward to that Duke and Yukon game. And I know from an action standpoint, you've got almost, you know, 36 hours before that game tips off. So you're going to get

17:07plenty of action throughout the day. Today, tomorrow, that game will tip off at five o'clock Eastern. So really a primo spot for that game to get plenty of attention. But what did you make of this initial number where we're at now? And what's your expectation, Thomas, of how betters will bet Yukon Duke tomorrow night? Yeah. So my numbers, I make this game. I only make the game three. And right now, you know, you can get five and a half five on Yukon. The early money has come in on Yukon at five and a half taking it. So as you said, plenty of time, you know, 99% of handles still to come on this game. But the very early money has been on the Oscuse. Thomas Gable, given us the latest from behind the counter, interesting that you pointed out, you make the number three. And right now, five, five and a half out there. But let's go to the games today. And we'll go in chronological order, Iowa, Illinois. Where are you guys at on this

18:11game? Have you seen any sharp action yet on Iowa, Illinois, tipping off at around six o'clock Eastern tonight? Yeah. So I guess the big 10 is guaranteed to get at least one team in to the final four. They actually have a chance here to match, I guess, the biggest record from 85. Potentially get three in. But they're guaranteed to get at least one here from from this game. So when you when you're looking at this match up, I think the coaching advantage has to go to Iowa. McCallum is such a good coach. Now, Illinois, when you're when you're kind of looking at this tool, you're saying 137 and a half there around like Illinois is one of the most efficient teams on the offensive end in all college basketball. You say, well, it's a really low total for them. But Illinois does not necessarily play at a very quick pace. They make the most out of the possessions that they get. That's why that that number is so high in terms of their efficiency rating.

19:15But they're they're not one to to get necessarily into track meets or they're they're more content to play in the half court. And I was certainly I think we'll we'll do the same here. Now I again, Illinois is I believe is probably going to be the the very recreational side here. This one and then I was going to be more of the sharper side taking the points. You can make the case of Iowa may be the Cinderella that's still standing here in the tournament, but Illinois it they were a team that coming into this. I mean, they lost right away in the the big tournament that was constant. So you didn't think necessarily they were in great form coming in, but they scored 105 against Penn in the the opening round and then this mantle BCU and obviously played much the Houston style in that in that last game that they had and just 65 55. I mean to to play at Houston style and

20:23still beat them by double digits. I think really showed just how talented this team can be. And you know, if you watched Illinois throughout the year, you knew that they were capable of making a very deep run, potentially yet to even a final four team. And here they are knocking right on the door. So I've some work here to take care with Iowa. If anything, I'd be taking the points here with Iowa, but just because I give the coaching advantage of the call, I think the columns going to to do his best here to to really kind of again grind this out. Keep it keep themselves within reach starts is tremendous tremendous player and just this kid who doesn't make mistakes and Illinois is going to have to again, kind of play up to what they're what they're rating typically is in terms of the efficiency on the offense event. 21:26a fascinating matchup. You know, styles make fights. You've got an up tempo team in Arizona that doesn't shoot threes. You've got a Purdue team that wants to, you know, keep it slow, but wildly efficient. So you look at a total. It's the highest total of the elite eight games sitting there. 153, 153 and a half Purdue six at most spots starting to come down a little bit to five and a half. Is this a approach versus Joe's games in your opinion? I would say so to the again, I think Arizona has just been such a popular play amongst the public here in every round. Last round we Arizona was a bad result for us. So it could be again today, but Purdue does seem to be that side where the more respect and minds coming in and you see that the number is moving now. The sixes are, I mean, there's still a handful of sixes, I guess, out there. Most everybody has gone to five and a half, though, at this point. And that's where

22:28the money has come in here on Purdue here. So in terms of you're looking just at straight take account. Yes, Arizona by far has more tickets, but we have more money on Purdue right now. All right. Let's let's get to Tennessee Michigan real quickly. Once again, you know, I know that this game will be bet more significantly as the day goes on and tomorrow, you know, I am an underdog better at heart. And I had Tennessee last night. I love the matchup. I thought Joshua Jefferson would be significantly missed. I thought the market was maybe underrating that. I look at this game, Thomas. I don't know if Tennessee's got the firepower to go toe to toe with Michigan. But like I said, I try to tend to make the case for the dog first. I don't know where I'm going to get at. What do you make of Tennessee and Michigan tomorrow afternoon? Well, I would, I think this number is about right seven and a half. And I actually make it eight.

23:28But again, if Michigan is clicking on all cylinders, there's really nobody in this tournament, maybe outside of Duke and potentially as other could give them a game. But again, I think Michigan at their best is better than anybody in college basketball. So it's really going to come down to whether or not Tennessee can kind of stay with them. We saw Alabama, what they did against Michigan. And, you know, they gave it their best effort there and did exactly what the game plan called for. They had to come out and take a million threes and just hope that they shot at a high percentage in order to stay attached. They did do the first half, but a little bit. And then you just saw the dominance of Michigan come in. And I think that's probably the way that this is also going to play out unfortunately for Tennessee. Michigan's just going to assert their will at some point and take over this game. Thomas always appreciate the

So as we look at this game, as we look ahead to the games on the card today, I'm curious your thoughts because you and I will had a common play on Tennessee last night. I really

26:36like that play. I had a feeling that Joshua Jefferson would not play. He didn't Tennessee wins the game and now I'm thinking about getting off of it. You and I both like to bet underdogs, but I'm looking at this matchup and I'm wondering if Tennessee has the firepower against Michigan. Your early thoughts on what to expect tomorrow afternoon in Chicago. Yeah, early thoughts are, boy, these lines are pretty damn efficient. This is almost like the NFL where there's just so many eyeballs on the lines now. There's only a few games. The books can focus more on those lines. It's not a, you know, this is not five or six weeks ago, Tim, where there's 160 college basketball games and the Mercyhurst first Merrimack line is going to be off maybe by a couple of points. And if you dig enough, you can find a line that's off. These are marquee teams, marquee matchups. There's a lot of eyeballs and attention on them and the lines, you know, boring hits or the lines look about right for Tennessee. I think look 16 offensive rebounds last night. Very athletic, very good rebounding team. Is that a good thing against Michigan or is that

27:39a situation where their strength as a team gets neutralized because Michigan is so good on the glass. I don't think Michigan is going to just destroy them on the glass. I think and we'll probably get to this with with a lot of these matchups with a lot of these teams. The three pointer because if Michigan and I was actually impressed with them last night because Michigan chopped 50% from three really in the body of the game. How Michigan didn't go over its team total 91 and a half boy. That was a tough one for me. That was one. I had that one. Yeah, that was a tough one, man. Free throws at the end. They just kind of choke the life out of the game and the game kind of died and it looked like they were going to foul at the end and they did it. But Michigan, when they shoot 50% from three, they bury teams. Absolutely, bury teams. It's the 30% 40% they still do well. They shot 50% last night and bam, a hung in the game. If they're going to shoot 40, 50%, they're probably going to win and cover against Tennessee. It's content. You know, can Tennessee have an advantage there where they shoot 38% and they hold Michigan to 30% and then give them a chance that way. So I mean, different on the game is of now. If I had to take it or lay it, I guess I would just

28:41went and doubt take the points, but as you could tell, I don't have like a ton of conviction right now. I'd have a hard time seeing Tennessee win. I don't think Tennessee is going to win this game. But you know, seven and a half is a lot of points here. So just be the slightest lean to the dog. Yeah, I mean, it's, you know, it's a challenge. You know, we're in a little competition. We're having fun with it. We want to win it. Obviously, we've got to make four picks on either side or total. So you're, you're kind of scour like I could kind of make the point here one way or the other. So let's start in chronological order Iowa and Illinois. Right now, market has this game lined up on 138 as a total spread sitting there at seven. Iowa has, you know, such a well coach team as we know, they've been great to us on the point spread. Are you looking to take it here with Iowa? Anything jumping out to you in Iowa, Illinois later tonight. Yeah, another one I've gone back and forth on my initial look was man, that seems a little high. Then you dig into the matchup and they play January 11th, which is a long time ago and there's

29:42rumors Iowa had a, you know, a team illness, a flu going around. So take that for what it's worth. Then it starts shot five of 18 and Boswell. I guess guarded them and did a really good job. And there's just a schematic advantage for Illinois standpoint where they're bigger and they're just more skilled. And you know, that's a tough combo to get around with. You know, when you play basketball, when the other guy is bigger than you, they can shoot better. That's tough. That being said, do you really want to lay multiple possessions to McCollum and how good he is as a Schemer and a tactician here in this tournament and Iowa team that can slowly tempo. So I'm ultimately probably going to land on the ladder where I take Iowa plus the points, but I do think Illinois has some real advantages here. Yeah. And you know, once again, you're talking about two totals in Iowa, Illinois, Duke, Yukon, both under 140. So, you know, one team gets hot as we saw in Iowa, Nebraska. That thing flew over the total. You look at Duke and St. John's. St. John's is hot flies over the total. So that's always a tricky part too when you're looking at that Purdue. And

30:47Arizona tonight will look, I've said it on the show. It will be a play for me. I did bet Purdue plus six scary going against a freight train that is Arizona. I think stylistically, Purdue has a chance to kind of slow this thing down. They're so efficient offensively. Does the pressure set in a little bit on Arizona? It feels like since Purdue got away from Mackie. It's been a different team and they get that put back against Texas. Arizona looks great against Arkansas. Tonight in in San Jose, Purdue, Arizona. What do you make of this spot? Well, I am trying to catch you in the standings and there's not that many games left. And if you're taking it, maybe I should lay it here from a little game theory. Yeah, a little bit. Look, I can make the case for either side. I thought this was a little light when the the spread opened at five and a half. And I think we're still at five and a half of draft King. So both the both the dogs have gotten bet this morning, at least the draft Kings or shop around the case for Purdue. They don't foul and look at Arizona in this tournament. Arizona shoot almost 40 free

31:50throws the game. Arizona has shot I think 114 free throws in this tournament. A little under 40 gaming of 37 38 free throws the game, which is just insane. Purdue doesn't foul and Purdue does a pretty good job walling off the rim, which we know Arizona made Arkansas. I mean, that was just a really really a layup line for a sweet 16 game. You don't see that. That was a layup line the other night where they score 109 points. At least Purdue can do a reasonable job in terms of that. Again, the three point line Purdue was unbelievable. They're first two rounds against Queens. In Miami, they shot over 50% from three. The other night, they shoot four of 20. I think a lot of it's going to come down to that. If they're able to shoot 40 50% from three, how they got a shot, anything less than that. They probably can't keep up with Arizona. I think Arizona wins. I would probably lean towards laying it, even though I do think Purdue, they check some boxes when you look at the matchup. I would probably play over here. The one thing and you were mentioning the totals, I would look towards unders and this round. This is the one where I would play the over. Just in general, I'm sure you've heard the same thing. Players, coaches, and I don't know that it gets

32:53talked about a lot. The elite eight is the round with a lot of pressure. I know people think, oh, the final four, the championship, you get to the final four. You know what, unless your Arizona mission pretty much all of these teams, even those teams, you get to the final four. You had a great year. This is the game to get to the final four. This is where it's almost like the Super Bowl, where it comes out, you know, conservative, slow starting, slow scoring, where you're just, there's just a little nerves. I think the same thing's applied to the elite eight. So I'm going to look towards unders, but this would be one where I lean towards the over and I do lean towards Arizona. 40:14that play. So it ended up breaking down this way for my plays. I have a play on each game in the elite eight. So get it up. I've got something in each game here and we'll start with the first game. Of course, we'll go chronological. And when you think about the Illinois and Iowa game, actually, we won't go chronological. We'll start with my best bet. And that's Purdue plus six. So bit of a scary proposition to go against Arizona, 109, 88 win on Thursday night in San Jose. But it's hard not to be impressed by what we've seen from Purdue over this last seven game stretch. And yes, they didn't cover against Texas. I like Texas. Matt and I talked about it earlier in the week on visa and prime time. But I think when you look at Purdue, this is a team that's beaten a Michigan. It just happened a couple of weeks ago, right,

41:14in the Big Ten championship game. They've faced someone similar to Arizona and Matt Painter talked about how much that Big Ten gauntlet has prepared him for this moment. The talent our leagues very good. I think you're seeing that here in the tournament. Very good. And I think it's been about as good as it's been for a long, long time. And I think the influx of international guys, our league is like a corporation now with 18 teams. And so now we added four really good teams and just brought a lot of talent into our league. But yeah, for us, the struggles that we had, four of our five home losses, we were really good offensively. So it wasn't really hard to figure out what we needed to shore up. And you know, you kept talking about it, kept talking about it, and kept working on those things. And I think the Big Ten tournament really helped us

42:18understand that if we're going to be able to advance in the Big Ten tournament or advance in the NCAA tournament, we're going to have to be better defensively. And the better you are defensively, it's going to lead to a better defensive rebounding team. You're not in as many rotations, you're not behind plays as much, you're not failing as much. And now that adds up at the end of the game. And that's the question for tonight, the defense for Purdue. Can they slow down Arizona? But then on the flip side, can Arizona slow down the most efficient offense in college basketball that has been playing at a peak level here through the last three weeks. Chicago to now into the NCAA tournament. So Purdue plus six in the contest, my best bet. Let's go to the early game, Iowa, Illinois. Thought about a side here, just I kept spinning myself in circles because I love the way Ben McCollum coaches. I love how Illinois with their size can pose so many different mismatches.

43:21I ended up landing on the under here, one thirty seven and a half, open one thirty eight and a half down to one thirty seven and a half. It's actually ticking back up. But I do think the nerves of the first elite eight game, maybe sink in a little bit. Do you see a little bit of regression from Iowa, even though they've been wildly efficient so far. But Brad Underwood even talked about it, how important it is for them to get things rolling defensive. It's a mental focus. I mean, we've been very good at times defensively and it's just sustaining it. And I think that Merck talked about it a little bit. We've got very capable defenders. We've got size and length. And we just got to make shots difficult and not give the 100% shot the dunks, the layups, two teams and then I thought we've, you know, I thought one of the keys tonight and we talked about it at nauseam was, you know, to win this war. We had to win the rebounding battle. We out

44:22rebounded a very good rebounding team by nine. So there you go. Illinois, Iowa under one thirty seven and a half a play for me. We're going to lay it with Michigan. And you know me, I'm not a big fan of laying points. The market is up to seven and a half. So you're getting a little bit of line value on this game from a contest standpoint. I had Tennessee yesterday and I really liked that spot for Tennessee against Iowa State. No Joshua Jefferson. The second game without your star player. And Tennessee imposed their will inside defended the three really well. But when I look at this Tennessee team and as impressed as I have been and Rick Barnes has been great, first time in his career as Evan Abrams pointed out a three game run in the NCAA tournament with three consecutive covers. I think it ends here. I just think the firepower for Michigan is too much

45:22to handle for the Tennessee volunteers in this spot. And when I look at the sheer size of a Yaxxel Lendenborg. I mean, think about what Yaxxel Lendenborg has done so far in this tournament. Jared Berson tweeted this out in their win last night over Alabama, 23 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, third player with at least 20 points, 10 boards, seven assists in the sweet 16 or later since the field expanded in 1985, joining the likes of Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade, not too bad of a fraternity for Yaxxel Lendenborg to add to. So, Tennessee stay out of foul trouble. That was an issue last night at times. Their turnovers are a massive issue as well. So for the contest, I'll lay the seven with Michigan. And lastly, Yukon Duke gone back and forth. Should I lay Duke? My game theory standpoint, I think a lot of people are going to look to take the points with Yukon. No doubt,

46:23understandably so considering the run that Dan Hurley has been on from a covering standpoint, 16 and one stretch for Dan Hurley in his last 17 tournament games. I'm going to go under and it's a low total to go under here in Yukon and Duke. And I had the under and Duke and St. John's and that blew up in my face. I really am impressed by Duke's defense of presence. And I wonder too, the Caleb Foster injury is going to be one that I'm curious how he responds. He played so well last night. It led to John Shire getting choked up, talking to Tracy Wolfen Wolfen post game, but post game after they got off the floor, he's scooting around with a scooter like he's 19 days removed from foot surgery. He was a massive piece. I don't think they win last night without Caleb Foster. What's his level of production
