Utah vs. Arkansas Prediction: Can Hogs Pull Off The Upset?

1:01Jay slow start to the beginning of the silver field era in Arkansas, but but I think some positives to take away from the performance. I think KJ Jackson kind of grew into that game. And I thought the defense, especially the defensive line showed a few flashes in terms of some takeaways. Agreed. If you are being overly optimistic for Arkansas, I mean, look, he's want to know as a coach, but Ryan Silverfield said it's one of the worst offensive performances he's ever been a part of. I think they you get north of 400 yards of offense. You win the football game, you pull away late. Again, if you're if you're looking for positives, that those are some of them. But the offensive lines going to play a hell of a lot better against a major,

2:02major step up in competition. This is a team that Kyle winning him, Kyle winning him built in his modus operandi. And that's to be physical across both lines. If Arkansas's offensive line is going to give up three sacks and five more tackles for loss against North Alabama, they've got their work cut out form blocking the youths. Yeah. And of course, that's the that's the big news out of Salt Lake City, Kyle waiting him after a long time in charge. Initially was going to retire and then ends up taking the Michigan job. But although it's a new face on the sideline with David Scali, a guy who played for Kyle, winning him at Utah has been in the program as an assistant most recently as a defensive coordinator. I mean,

3:03this was he was kind of the the head coach and waiting was Morgan Scali. So, you know, the face on the sideline might change, but the identity and the brand of Utah football, certainly isn't going to. No, it's not. And you look at their dev chart and all of their offensive line starters have been are in at least their fourth year of college football. And they've got a couple of guys who are fifth and sixth year guys. So, that's going to be one of their strengths is their physical their physicality. And look, I mean, Arkansas is a two touchdown hundred dollar for a reason in this one, Billy. And this is the Utah coach has spoken openly about you want to represent well for the conference. This is a big moment, even if Arkansas finishes last in the league, the big the big

If they when the big 12 can't afford a team that's probably going to be third or fourth somewhere in that mix in their league, they they Arkansas going going there and winning would be every bit as noteworthy for this for the conference later in the year as Oklahoma winning at Michigan or even Texas beating Ohio State. Is it wrong to say that I think Utah in terms of putting on for the big 12 would not only involve winning, but because this games at home, winning handily. I think I think there's very real conversation to that point. And I think there's very real motivation to that point. Jay, if we were to kind of plot a path to victory for Arkansas, in a way that they could spring the upset and if anyone plays that that 365 make them a lot of money, what would it look like for you for the hogs to to go into rice echoes and pull the upset?

7:09Well, we touched on the offensive line. They're going to have to play better. I think defensively, they're going to have to find ways to make the damn peer kid one dimensional. His duality poses a real threat. He's an experienced guy playing at home. You expect him to be ready for the moment. But in the path to an upset is maybe the first player you mentioned. And that's KJ Jefferson. And it's going to have to be, I think for Arkansas to walk out of there, which with a banner waving victory and a real moment early for Ryan Silverfield and all honesty, we're going to have to talk. We'll be talking Saturday afternoon about KJ Jefferson the way we were talking Labor Day week. KJ Jackson KJ Jackson, you're right. The way we were talking. I mean, I'm going to mix that up 300 times this year. So I think everybody will the way we were talking about Camario Taylor. I mean, I think it's going to

8:15have to be that kind of, okay, go do tail and green type stuff. And so he's going to have to have a game where nobody's going to mix up mix up his name anymore. How about that? Yeah, I think you're definitely right. I think the biggest thing is going to be 10. They contain the Utah running game. I mean, Devin Danpier, obviously, we know what he can do with his legs. Wayshawn Parker as well, I think is one of the better backs in that week. And what we touched on the offensive line, man, it is, it is an experienced group and Arkansas has brought in some talent opposite that. But they're going to have to show out in a big way and make sure that you tall is one dimensional. In terms of the board at Fandall, anything initially jump out at you at something you'd think about playing?

9:18No, but if people don't tune into these, he shows for a reason. If my Fandall account saw action on this, I'd probably lay the points, Billy, and take the home team, the better football team, the more experienced football team. I know both of these are first year coaches, but in their first game, in their first games as first year coaches, Utah did what you're supposed to do against a mismatch foe. They put its foot on Idaho's neck and made a statement. Arkansas was really kind of forget the table. And that's coming from the top of the program. And so this is an opportunity for Silverfield to really energize his fan base and to get a signature

10:20win for him, his program and the league in a lot of ways. But I just, my Fandall pick would be lay the 12 and a half. I think this is a 17 to 21 point win for the youths. Yeah, Salt Lake City. I mean, it is a, I think, an underrated tough place to play. It gets loud. And obviously, you know, Utah style with play, I think has something to do with that too. I liked the way Ryan Silverfield didn't pull any punches. I do think he's going to wake up his group this week. I think they will be able to run the ball a little bit and control the clock. I don't necessarily think they win, but I do think that they can cover that 12 and a half number. Now we'll see. But I don't know. I think he's going to have this group's attention and they're going to make this ball game, which is, I think that'll be in some ways for an Arkansas faithful that, I mean, look, the expectations are not super high

11:25this year. I mean, there, it's going to be, there're going to be some struggles when you get into league play. But making certain your kids are motivated after, I think it shows up. I mean, people see that. And I'm not just don't look, you want to win every game you play. But there is, there are different levels, especially in year one of success. And going out there and playing against the team that could be a fringe playoff team. If things fall right in the big 12, you in the preseason rightly noted how their schedule kind of allows for a potential run to maybe a big 12 championship game. Go out there and compete. Go out there, play them to a field goal game. One way or the other, if you're in it in the end, I think there will be a lot more positivity around this program
