Use Small Goals to Win Big Goals, EP 10
About this episode
On today’s episode, Kelly Palace and Maria Parker talk about achieving big things with small, actionable steps. Kelly shares her breast cancer experience and how the task of emptying her parents’ home to send her father to assisted living, before her mother passed away, was overwhelming but she approached both with baby steps along the way. Maria talks about competing in the Race Across America bike race. She had to have a “baby steps” mentality to succeed and tells her mailboxes story.
Embracing the grace is another tactic the hosts discuss that can be a useful tool in reaching goals and overcoming challenges.

The Race Across America (RAAM) is an iconic bike race that stretches over 3000 miles from California to Maryland. Along the way, cyclists pass through historic landmarks while also traveling through deserts and mountain ranges. Maria Parker owns the 50-59 Recumbent course record, completing the journey in 11 days, 20 hours and 54 minutes in 2013. She was also named the Female Rookie of the Year in 2013.
Action Items From the Hosts
Maria: Think to yourself “What is the very next thing that I should do/can do – and then do it – and celebrate it.”
Kelly: Write down what would give you a victory. Put one achievable goal a day for three days.
Quote of the Week: “Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.” - Vincent Van Gogh
