2013年底，导演张杨带着一个二十多人的团队，和十一位藏民素人演员一起踏上了芒康到冈仁波齐为期一年的朝圣之路。《冈仁波齐》没有程式化的剧本，全是从路上即兴挖掘故事和人物，再转换成电影语言表达：吃饭、睡觉、磕头、念经……这部有着纪录片风格的剧情片，从上映首周最低排片只有0.9%到后来突破8000万票房，成为今年国产艺术电影的一匹黑马。《冈仁波齐》是张杨的第十部电影，他的代表作有《爱情麻辣烫》《洗澡》《落叶归根》《飞越老人院》《昨天》等。“我拍的是每个人的一点小愿望，内心里面的愿望。”
