विलक्षणः आसीर्वादः

कश्चन महात्मा विलक्षणानि आशीर्वादवचनानि ददाति स्म । यथा राजानं 'सुभटो भव', आस्थानपण्डितम् 'अज्ञानी भव', महाधनिकं वणिक्प्रमुखं 'सेवकः भव' इति । किमर्थम् एवम् आशीर्वादं ददाति इति ज्ञातुं अनन्तरदिने राज्ञः वृद्धमन्त्री गत्वा महात्मानं राजास्थानम् आनयति । तदा महात्मा विलक्षणाशीर्वदवचनानाम् विशेषार्थं वदति । महात्मना कृतः आशीर्वादः विलक्षणः स्याद् चेदपि विशेषाभिप्रायगर्भः आसीत् इति जानन्तः सभास्थाः सर्वे तदीयां बुद्धिमत्तां विशेषतः‌ श्लाघितवन्तः ।

A saint used to give unusual blessings: to a king he said, “Be a brave warrior,” to a court scholar, “Be ignorant,” and to a wealthy merchant, “Be a servant.” Curious about the meaning, the king’s aged minister brought the saint to the royal court the next day. There the saint explained the special intent behind each blessing. Though the words seemed strange, they carried deep significance. Realizing this, everyone in the court praised the saint’s wisdom.
