A proud and learned Brahmin wanted to become wealthy after seeing rich people showing off their riches. To please Lord Shiva, he performed severe penance for twelve years. Pleased with him, Shiva appeared in his dream and asked him to choose a boon. The Brahmin asked for the philosopher’s stone (a magical stone that turns iron into gold). Shiva told him to meet the sage Sanatana Goswami, who lived on the banks of the Yamuna in Vrindavan. When the Brahmin met the sage, he learned that there was something far more valuable than the philosopher’s stone.
