रक्षणीयः कार्योत्साहः

साधारणतया  ज्येष्ठैः चिन्त्यते यत् अपूर्वा सिद्धि केवलं तरुणैः एव प्राप्तुं शक्या, वयोज्येष्ठाः किं वा कुर्युः इति ।  तरुणाः चिन्तयन्ति यत् ज्येष्ठानां जीवनानुभवः विवेचनशक्तिः च अपारा ।  अतः तैः एव विशिष्टा सिद्धिः सम्पादयितुं शक्या इति ।  कथायाम् अस्यां कश्चन प्रवचनकारः वदति यत् - ‘वस्तुतः दैहिकवयसः, सिद्धेः च न विशेषसम्बन्धः ।  केचन तारुण्ये एव अनासक्तिनाशं प्राप्य निरुत्साहाः भवन्ति ।  अन्ये केचन वार्धक्ये अपि उत्साहं परिरक्षन्ति ।  अतः कार्योत्साहः एव सिद्धेः कारणं, न तु वयः' ।

Generally, elders think that unprecedented achievements can only be attained by the young, and wonder what the elderly can do. The young think that the life experience and discerning power of the elders are immense, and thus, only they can accomplish unique achievements. In this story, a preacher says, "In truth, there is no special connection between physical age and achievement. Some people, even in their youth, become dispassionate and lose enthusiasm. Others, even in old age, maintain their enthusiasm. Therefore, enthusiasm for work is the cause of achievement, not age."
