ज्ञानप्रकाशस्य उद्दीपनम्

कश्चन शिष्यः आचार्यम् अपृच्छत् यत् ज्ञानात् केवलं वृत्तिप्राप्तिः, मानसम्मानप्राप्तिः च एव प्रयोजनं वा? इति । तदा आचार्यः केनचित् निर्दर्शनेन शिष्यं बोधयति 'अज्ञानस्य कारणतः अस्मासु अनेकविधाः भ्रान्तयः जायन्ते । तासां निवारणाय अन्तरङ्गदीपः उद्दीपनीयः । सर्वे अन्तरङ्गोद्दीपनं कर्तुं न अर्हन्ति । भ्रमजालस्य अपसारणाय आत्मप्रकाशस्य प्राप्त्यै च निरन्तरगभीराध्ययनम् एव शरणम्' इति ।

A disciple once asked his teacher whether knowledge is meant only for livelihood and honor. The teacher explained with an example: “Because of ignorance, many delusions arise within us. To remove them, the inner lamp must be kindled. Not everyone can awaken this inner light. For clearing the web of illusions and attaining self-illumination, continuous deep study alone is the true path.”
