विचिन्त्य वक्तव्यम्

वचनानि कागदखण्डाः इव एव भवन्ति । एकस्य मुखात् निर्गताः‌ ते अन्येषां मुखानि कथं प्राप्नुवन्ति इत्यस्य अवगमनमेव दुष्करम् । अत एव यस्य विषयस्य पूर्णज्ञानं अस्माकं न स्यात् तस्य विषये असमीचीनं वचनं कदापि न वक्तव्यम् । एतत् सर्वम् इयं कथा निरूपयति । कथं कस्यचन वृद्धस्य असत्यकथनेन युवकस्य कारागारवासः अभवत् । अन्ते कथं सः वृद्धः स्वदोषम् अवगत्य क्षमायाचनां करोति इति शृण्मः ।

Words are like pieces of paper. Once they leave someone's mouth, it is difficult to know how they reach others. Therefore, if we do not have complete knowledge of a subject, we should never speak wrongly about it. This story illustrates this. In the story, an old man’s false statement led to a young man’s imprisonment. In the end, the old man realizes his mistake and seeks forgiveness.
