今天這句俗諺 「食人一口，報人一斗 」( Tsia̍h lâng tsi̍t kháu, pò lâng tsi̍t táu.)是什麼意思呢？
答案是:吃人一口，要回報一斗。意為受人恩惠時要感恩圖報，並加倍奉還。
上尾仔一集就來講寡佮感謝報恩有關的俗語。頭一句俗語是「食人一口，報人一斗」，嘛有人講「食人一口，還人一斗」、「食人一斤，也著還人四兩」，毋過，我咧想，人共咱鬥相共、鬥跤手，咱無應該用「還」的概念，應該愛有「報恩」的行動。別人的恩情，咱毋但愛謹記在心，閣愛感恩惜福、知恩必報、加倍報答，按呢才是正港的臺灣人。
