今天這句俗諺 「老人毋講古，少年毋捌寶」( Lāu-lâng m̄ kóng-kóo, siàu-liân m̄ bat pó.)是什麼意思呢？
答案是:老年人不說故事，年輕人得不到寶貴經驗。形容老年人有很多值得年輕人學習的經驗。
老大人生活經驗較濟，俗語就教咱「老人毋講古，少年毋捌寶」，所以愛定共老大人請教，因為「過橋較濟你行路，食鹽較濟你食米」，經驗豐富。「老人食紅蟳─講無效」，這是臺語的孽譎仔話，普通人食紅蟳誠愛齧蟳仔管，因為內底肉較濟，偏偏老大人喙齒無好，就算想欲食，嘛齧袂落去，所以蟳仔管對老大人來講是無效的。毋才會講「老人食紅蟳─講無效」，意思是就算你講甲喙角全波，講閣較濟嘛無路用，無效啦。
