愛護地球、再生利用一直是環保永續傳達的理念，而生活中常見的紙箱更是使用率極高但重複使用率較低的物品，尤其現代人盛行網路購物，紙箱包裝多為一次性使用，因此紙箱的重複使用方式就受到相當的關注。而高雄市陽明國中的師生團隊在網路上看到使用紙箱進行烤肉的相關影片，感到非常新奇進而想深入探討，因此決定以「燒耶的紙箱」作為實驗主題參加科學競賽，不僅結合環保理念，更從生活經驗出發，培養用科學解決問題的能力。
