स्मर्तव्यं योगसूत्रं सदा

कञ्चन ग्रामम् आगतवन्तं सिद्धपुरुषम् उपसर्प्य त्रयः युवकाः साधनम् उपदेशं वा याचिततवन्तः । सिद्धः तेभ्यः किमपि साधनकार्यं दत्तवान् । बहूनि वर्षाणि अतीतानि । किन्तु त्रिषु एकः अपि न कमपि विशेषम् अनुभूतवान् । न कोऽपि भौतिकलाभः वा प्राप्तः । कदाचित् ग्रामं प्रति प्रत्यागतं सिद्धं द्रष्टुं गताः युवकाः स्वनिराशताम् अकथयन् । सिद्धपुरुषः आत्मज्ञानेन सर्वं ज्ञात्वा कुत्र कुत्र युवकाः दोषान् आचरितवन्तः इत्युक्तवान् । आत्मनः दोषं ज्ञातवन्तः युवकाः सिद्धस्य आशीर्वादं स्वीकृत्य गृहं गतवन्तः ।

Three young men once approached a realized saint in their village, asking for guidance and spiritual practice. The saint gave them some discipline to follow. Many years passed, but none of them experienced any special result or material gain. When the saint returned to the village, the youths expressed their disappointment. With his inner vision, the saint explained the specific faults each of them had committed in their practice. Realizing their own shortcomings, the youths accepted his blessing and returned home with renewed understanding.
