दत्ते वस्तुनि न स्यात् ममता

कश्चन धनिकः भक्तः बहुमूल्यकं राङ्कवं यत् श्रीकृष्णबोधानन्दनाम्ने संन्यासिने उपायनीकृतवान् आसीत् तत् राङ्कवं स्वामी पार्श्वे स्थिताय विदुषे दत्तवान् । एतत् धनिकाय न अरोचत इति ज्ञात्वा स्वामी राङ्कवं धनिकाय प्रत्यर्पयितुं विद्वांसम् असूचयत् । राङ्कवस्य प्रतिस्वीकरणम् अनिच्छन्तं धनिकं प्रति स्वामी वदति - ॑'इदं न मम' इति बुद्ध्या यत् दीयेत तस्य उपयोगः कथं करणीयः इति दात्रा चिन्तनीयं नास्ति । अतः एव तत् प्रतिदातुं मया उक्तम्' इति । एतस्मात् विवेकं प्राप्य धनिकः राङ्कवं स्वीकरणीयम् इति प्रार्थयते ।

A wealthy devotee once gave a precious gift to a sanyasi named Shrikrishnabodhananda. The sanyasi then gave the gift to a scholar standing next to him. When the wealthy man learned that the sanyasi was giving it away, he became displeased. In response, the sanyasi told the scholar to return the gift to the wealthy man. The sanyasi said to the wealthy man, 'The person who gives the gift should not worry about how it is used. Therefore, I told the scholar to return it.' After hearing this, the wealthy man realized his mistake and pleaded with the sanyasi to accept the gift.
