新冠疫情蔓延全球近三年的時間，直到疫苗研發並開始進行接種後，疫情才使得穩定控制，而在疫苗研發過程中，有一種海洋生物「鱟」開始受到重視，但因為棲地受到嚴重影響，是臺灣目前積極復育的生物之一，因此國立嘉義大學附設實驗國小的教師黃琦智、何夢青以此為教案主題，規劃一系列的科學探索課程，與學生共同進行包含海洋教育、科學教育、生命教育、以及科技教育的跨領域課程。
