एकस्य जनस्य अभावे......

अमेरिकादेशे कस्याञ्चित् नद्यां कश्चित् विद्युत्स्तम्भः पतितः । अतिभारयुक्तं तं स्तम्भम् उन्नेतुं कर्मकराः  असमर्थाः जाताः ।  इतोऽपि एकस्य जनस्य साहाय्ये अपेक्षितेऽपि तत्रत्यः प्रमुखः मम योग्यतायाः अननुगुणः व्यवहारः इति मत्वा साहायार्थं न गतवान् । तावता कश्चन अश्वारोही तत्रत्यां स्थितिं दृष्ट्वा कार्ये संलग्नः अभवत् । तस्य प्रोत्साहवचनेन कर्मकराः उत्साहध्वनिं कुर्वन्तः बलेन विद्युत्स्तम्भम् उन्नीय तीरं प्रापितवन्तः । यदा सः अश्वम् आरुह्य गन्तुम् उद्यतः तदा कर्मकरनायकः अपृच्छत् 'भवान् कः?’ इति । 'अहमस्मि अमेरिकायाः राष्ट्रपतिः जार्ज् वाशिङ्गट्न्' इति अवदत् सः अश्वारोही ।

In a certain river in America, an electric pole had fallen. The workers were unable to lift the heavily loaded pole. Despite needing one more person’s assistance, the local leader, considering the task beneath his dignity, did not offer his help. Meanwhile, a horseman, seeing the situation, got involved in the task. Encouraged by his words, the workers raised the pole with great effort and brought it to the shore. As the horseman was about to leave, the leader of the workers asked, 'Who are you?' The horseman replied, 'I am George Washington, the President of the United States’. This story beautifully illustrates the values of humility, leadership and the importance of offering help regardless of one's position.
