Unsolved Murders: Brother, Sister Killed in Family Feud

Almost a decade later, on October 12th, 1985, her brother Robert and Alaska Airlines pilot was shot multiple times while driving home. He died a month later from his injuries, including a bullet in his spine. The violence stemmed from a bitter family feud. Muriel had divorced attorney and real estate mogul Neil McCuy, and their young son Scotty inherited her estate. Robert sought custody, sparking a long core battle with McCuy, who suddenly wanted the boy too. After years of legal fights and temporary guardians for Scotty, McCuy won full custody. The custody war fueled deep hatred between McCuy and Robert. Investigators suspected McCuy hired Hitman for both attacks. It's pointed to Underworld figure Gilbert Powell, who ran a strip club and knew McCuy.

1:00Powell allegedly arranged the shooting through petty criminals. Police squeezed suspects, and Powell flipped, wearing wires and testifying that McCuy paid him. Several triggermen were convicted quickly. McCuy's trial moved to Fairbanks due to publicity, but jurors doubted Powell's credibility and acquitted him. Today, both murders remain officially unsolved.
