And sugar bird is a group that is filled with a whole lot of musicians, which is what bands are supposed to be. No AI hashtag. Just putting it out there. But, chat. Chatting to us now. We have Rosie Yaga and Fanblerk Havenga. And the sum of the crews not here, but you guys are going to represent. Yes, we represent. Definitely. As a lead singer and bass guitarist. Christian is also here with us today. Yes. But he speaks more with his guitar. So, we're going to leave that later. We leave it for later. Please tell me because, you know, I don't know if you guys have seen that TikTok where this black American guy is saying, what message to white people when we're going to go back to the bands, the garage bands, because we don't have garages anymore. So, what made you guys come together?

2:02Because I also feel that thing of missing an actual full-on band set up. Yes. So, I think, me and Christian, we were the first members of the band. And we were looking for drummers and a bass guitarist, actually. So a friend reached out to me and she gave me the number of our drummer, Chris, too. And then these three guys were living together. And they were already playing in another band. So I was like, okay, do you guys want to join? You stole the New Rock? Yes, I stole the new band. You stole the new band. But, I mean, you have to do that. If you're up and coming out to this, you're going to jump around between bands just to make a living out of it as well. And I think that's the part that many people don't know. It's like, you'll hear of a PJ Morton, but he also happens to be the drummer for Maroon 5. But in his own right, his followers don't even know his part of Maroon 5. That's crazy. Right? So the circulating and I mean, the industry's family, many, all musicians know one another.

3:03What was the vision in terms of what you wanted the band to be saying? What was the vision where you guys already saying, you know, like that Navanna feel like what was that big idea? I think the biggest idea was just to get on big stages and perform. For me as a female artist, it's very important because the industry is so saturated with main artists and, yeah, there's a lot of dudes, but there is female artists out there that's also amazing. And just not getting that spotlight yet. So for me, that's very important. And I don't know what the rest of the guys I just want to play. I just like to play. I like to rock and roll. So if I get to do that, I'm happy. And who's one of your big influences? You're, that's a good question. I like the band Ghost. One a lot. I think Foo Fighters is a good example.

4:04I see you in the head. This is what we're talking. We want that vibe back. And I always think about it as like when VH1 came to South Africa and your savage gardens, all of those groups, your Lincoln parks and how it started to grow. How are you finding your identity within this very big saturated market of music? You have artists as big as Lizzo who are like, you can be following me. I won't even appear on your algorithm because that's how many artists are out there. And it's a good thing, but also can be a bad thing. Yeah, I think we all bring like unique vibe. And we never like prescribed ourselves like a specific sound. Like we would never like we want to sound like that band. We just sort of started jamming and it like, I think it like developed into what Sugarbird is. Just like everyone sort of vibes coming together and creating something unique. What are we going to see you guys performing next? The next gig we have is Adwell West Cafe actually in Pretoria with Alec Cobra.

5:09So that will be on the in November, I think the seventh. Yeah. And then after that, we're also going to be playing at Up the Creek next year again. So this year we had the privilege of playing there. And it was by accident. We actually we did another festival and we took footage from that and kind of sent it to Up the Creek. And they found us and they said, cool, come join the lineup. And they liked us so much that we back next year. You literally manifested it though. Just by even sending it away, we're speaking about that earlier on in the show. So what can we look forward to in terms of the songs you're going to be performing for us today? So today we're going to play one of our old songs from the album that we released last year. And then we'll also be playing our new song Angel that released two weeks ago. So it's still very new. And then we'll also be playing a song that has not even been streamed on, or you can't even stream it on social media yet. So it's a brand new song. Unreleased.
