It is a busy Tuesday morning ginger, standing by tracking the severe weather, putting 50 million Americans on alert. But we start with latest on the world with Iran, including the warning sent to law enforcement agencies that Iran may be trying to activate sleeper cells. Plus the latest on President Trump saying the U.S. has made major strides towards achieving its military objective, and that the war could end, quote, very soon. But he also expressed his

1:04determination to end the danger from Iran once and for all. Overnight, the dignified transfer of the remains of the seventh American killed in the war took place at Dover Air Force Base. 26-year-old Sergeant Benjamin Pittington died from wounds he suffered during an Iranian attack on a base in Saudi Arabia last week. We have team coverage this morning. Our Chief Foreign Corresponder Ian Panell starts us off and Tel Aviv. Good morning, Ian. Yeah, good morning, Michael. That's right. The President talking about the war ending soon, saying it's way ahead of schedule. And yet military planners seem to think that the strikes are only at the beginning, and we've seen further attacks inside Iran overnight. Overnight, a somber scene at Dover Air Force Base. Vice President J.D. Vance, attending the dignified transfer for the seventh U.S. Service Member killed in action during America's war with Iran. Identified as 26-year-old Army sergeant Benjamin Panellton from Glendale, Kentucky. Secretary of Defense, PTXF, insisting the U.S. is winning decisively with brutal

2:06efficiency. We are winning with an overwhelming and unrelenting focus on our objectives, which are the same as the day I gave my first briefing here on Operation Epic Fury. They're straightforward, and we are executing them with ruthless precision. Warning today would be the most intense day of strikes inside Iran. The most fighters, the most bombers, the most strikes, intelligence, more refined and better than ever. Meanwhile, inside Iran, scenes of celebration, as thousands of people took to the streets to rally in support of their new Supreme Leader, 56-year-old Hardliner Mojtaba Hamine, son of the Kildayatollah. He was chosen, despite President Trump saying he'd be unacceptable, seen as a brazen act of defiance. I was disappointed, because we think it's going to lead to just more of the same problem for the country, so I was disappointed to see their choice. This, as the violence across the region, shows no signs of letting up. The U.S. and Israel

3:10striking hundreds of new targets across Iran. Video circulating online, showing people running in terror as missiles struck this military base outside Tehran. Dozens of people reported killed in a strike on two residential buildings in eastern Tehran, according to local authorities amid concerns about rising civilian casualties. U.S. Central Command releasing new video strikes on missile launchers. It says the U.S. has now hit more than 5,000 targets and 50 Iranian vessels. Iran unleashing widespread strikes of its own around the Persian Gulf, targeting the consulate of the United Arab Emirates in Erbil Iraq. The UAE strongly condemning the drone attack, saying they need to protect their diplomatic missions in the region. And with concerns growing about the region's oil supply, traffic in that critical passage at a standstill. Trump warning Iran, if it stops the flow of oil within the strait of Hormuz, death, fire and fury will reign upon them. I will not allow a terrorist regime to hold the world hostage and attempt to stop the

4:14globe's oil supply. Well, I think it's worth pointing out that Iran responded right at the start of this war by restricting almost stopping entirely the flow of oil through the strait of Hormuz. And with Iran electing this new hardline leader, it's hard to see what other pressure President Trump can bring to bear to achieve his war aims. George? Okay, and thanks. Let's go to the White House. Now, we're President Trump moved to calm oil markets, but delivered mixed messages on when and how the war will end. Senior political correspondent Rachel Scott has the story. Good morning, Rachel. George, good morning to you and it is unclear what exactly comes next in Iran. The President insisting the war is pretty much complete, but he did not offer a timeline and he's also not ruling out future military attacks. This morning, President Trump sending conflicting messages on when the war with Iran will end. We're achieving major strides toward completing our military objective and some people could say they're pretty well complete. But the President who called the war a short-term excursion didn't provide a clear timeline and also suggested the U.S.

5:16plans to go even further. We could call it a tremendous success right now as we leave here, I could call it, or we could go further and we're going to go further. The President clearly hoping his comments would ease the markets, which have tumbled since he launched the war in the Middle East. I knew oil prices would go up if I did this and they've gone up probably less than I thought they'd go up. Before coming to the cameras, the President's speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war. We obviously talked then about the Middle East and he wants to be helpful. But Russia is a close ally of Iran and sources LABC, the U.S. believes Russia has been providing Iran with locations of American troops in the region. The President also facing questions about whether the U.S. is behind a deadly strike on a girl school in Iran, killing more than 160 people, most of them children. As new video posted online shows a U.S. made Tomahawk missile hitting a building next to the girl school. Whether it's Iran or somebody else, the fact that it's Tomahawk, a Tomahawk is very generic,

6:18it's sold to other countries. But that's being investigated right now. But it's the U.S. not Iran that uses Tomahawk missiles. And sources say U.S. forces were conducting other strikes in the area at that time and could be responsible for the strike. The President also said that his own vice president had a different philosophy on going into Iran and was a little less enthusiastic than he was, but the President insisting it was something he believed he had to do, Mary. All right, Rachel, thank you. And the economic impact of the war is being felt here at home with prices sharply higher now at the gas pump. Chief economic correspondent Rebecca Jarvis is at a gas station here in New York with the latest. Rebecca, good morning. Good morning, Mary. And that extreme volatility we've seen in oil prices has translated to sticker shock right here at the pump. This morning, the wild volatility in oil prices from the war in Iran reaching gas pumps across the U.S. Ridiculous, crazy, insane. Right now I'm already at $65 and still pumping. I can only see it going up. There's only so much

7:20oil to go around. In just the last week, gasoline prices have climbed from 311 to 354, up 43 cents. With the war triggering the biggest disruption to oil supplies in history, effectively shutting off the strait of hormones, a critical passage for nearly 20% of the world's oil. I stopped at eight gallons or nine gallons. No eight gallons because I couldn't afford to fill in my tank. So I'm kind of afraid that it's going to go up higher in the coming weeks. This father telling our victor, a kendo gas is now a major hardship. I can't feel my tank anymore. Half tank, maybe three quarters, it's all I can afford. In California, the average price for a gallon now topping five dollars. Why won't be driving as much? I know that. At some stations in Los Angeles, it costs even more as our Melissa Adon saw firsthand. Prices at this gas station are nearly six dollars a gallon, and less than 10 miles away from here in downtown Los Angeles,

8:20prices are sky high at over eight dollars a gallon. Now with spring break right around the corner, some say they're rethinking their plans. Cutting back on some plans too, because it is so much. I had plans to travel, but I'm not so sure now. Now analysts warned the longer these disruptions last, the bigger the impact on gas prices. And of course, gas prices create an impact and a ripple effect elsewhere in the economy. Everything from groceries to airfares, the cost of doing business for small companies and farmers, everyone sees an impact when they pay higher gas prices. Though the good news is there may be some relief insight. You saw oil prices over the last 24 hours swing from $120 a barrel to now below $90 a barrel, and that will translate here at the pump very quickly. Patrick Dahan says by the end of this week, in fact, by the weekend, gas buddy predicts that prices could actually be lower, Michael.

9:21Well, I know a lot of people are hoping a lot lower to where they were before. I appreciate that. We're going to turn down to new details in a tear investigation here in New York. Two Pennsylvania teens have been charged with throwing explosive devices near the mayor's residents. They're accused of attempting to provide support to ISIS. Chief investigative correspondent Erica Teresky is here. There were some explosions overnight at a store facility connected to the suspect. And that place is connected to these two teens who are now jailed this morning. After police said they came here to New York to carry out an attack bigger than the Boston Marathon bombing. This morning, this angry toss of a homemade bomb during a weekend protest in New York City as two teens from Pennsylvania facing a terrorism charge. This was not random violence. This was a planned attack motivated by extremist ideology and inspired by a violent foreign terrorist organization. Police said the device 18 year old Amir Balot hurled tested positive for TATP and explosive used in terror attacks around the world. 19 year old Ibrahim Kayumi is then seen handing him a second device before Balot ignites it,

10:25sprints down the sidewalk, hops a police barricade and is tackled while the thing is still smoking. Make no mistake. What happened this weekend was incredibly dangerous. An anti-Muslim protest by far right provocator Jake Lang was clashing with a counter-demonstration outside the residence of New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani. There were no injuries, but federal prosecutors said both teens made statements referring to ISIS and when an investigator asked one of them if he wanted to accomplish something like the Boston Marathon bombing he replied, no, even bigger. It was only three deaths. You can hear explosions in this video obtained by ABC station WPVI outside a storage facility in Pennsylvania. The controlled detonations followed a search connected to the two teens. And those two teens are now being held on a terrorism charge in use of a weapon of mass destruction and attorney for one of them told us he's 18. He doesn't have any idea what he's doing, but authorities say this is just the kind of threat confronting the American homeland Michael with America at war overseas. Oh yeah, a very scary situation there. In an authority,

11:28they're concerned about possible sleeper cells as well. Yeah, ABC News had a look at an alert sent to law enforcement agencies that warned Iran maybe trying to activate sleeper cells in the West. The alert mentioned an encrypted transmission intended for covert operatives who could decode it. A president Trump acknowledged concern about possible Iranian operatives waiting to strike. The alert said there is no operational threat tied to a specific location, but it did encourage police departments to look out for suspicious communications cuts. All right, Aaron. Thank you. Okay, we're going to turn now to the weather threat more than 50 million Americans from Texas and Michigan are in the storm zone. Ginger, of course, is tracking all good morning. Hey, good morning. Today's the greatest threat of the week. Level three out of five includes Chicago and Dallas. We're talking baseball, size, hail and tornadoes. Let's go ahead and talk about who's going to get what? We had more than 30 severe storms, a damaging win where the primary hazard and this did happen in Northern Alabama. You can see some of the damage from that. But today, it's all about this afternoon and the evening when things start to erupt in Texas back to Abilene, San Angelo. Really, you'll see storms right up through Kansas City, but the

12:30heart of it is in Chicago by this evening. And then we'll end up with not just the chance for damaging wind from Detroit down to Austin, but of course, those two pockets of level three out of five that includes Abilene and Dallas and then Peoria up to Chicago. It's for baseball, size, hail. That's the one threat. That's big, especially this early in the season, especially that far north. And then tornadoes, not just in Texas, but here from champagne and renceler right back through Peru, Kankake, Illinois is in there. Peoria, Burlington, Quincy, tornado threat today. So just want to point that out. And it doesn't end there on Wednesday. This front keeps powerfully moving east. So Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, Baltimore, back to Jackson and Shreveport. The nation's 60,000 TSA officers. These are the ones who get you through security. They've now gone without a full paycheck in almost

13:34a month. And that's just caused a mess because some of them aren't coming to work. This morning at some airports around the country, those massive wait times, not going away anytime soon. I traveled the world. I've never seen anything like this. At Hobby Airport in Houston, passengers instructed to arrive for their flights three to four hours ahead of time due to TSA staffing shortages caused by the partial government shutdown. Crazy. This is the first time I've ever experienced anything like this. The delays potentially impacting thousands of spring break travelers making their way through Houston's two airports. More than two and a half million daily passengers are traveling through America's airports. Come on. Two lines. Two extra layers. Let's go. Let's go. Lewis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans struggling to manage lines out to the parking garage. The mayor urging caution. TSA agents and didn't receive a paycheck. So you have a lot of the work force that has called in sick, which is causing these huge lines. Johnny Jones is the treasurer for the union representing TSA workers. The thing that I'm going to tell passengers is please,

14:37it's not our fault if people can't come to work because they no longer have funds. And things aren't looking to get better anytime soon. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby saying the surge in jet fuel prices since last Friday could have a meaningful impact on the airlines business. And we are seeing shorter lines this morning, but officials are warning the longer this shutdown goes on, the more likely we are to see those issues and long lines. And, and yeah, there's a major snapper with jet blue. Yeah, so this was an overnight ground stop nationwide. It lasted about two hours for jet blue. It turns out that it was an IT issue, but we are told this morning that everything is now back to normal. So that's good news George. Thank goodness for that. Michael. All right, George. Good morning Michael and investigators are trying to figure out not just what happened here, but why this person allegedly fired shots outside Rihanna's home. And we have learned this investigation includes a number of recent social media posts with a suspect appears to reference Rihanna directly. This morning authorities are hunting for a motive behind the drive-by shooting at the Los Angeles home of music superstar and billionaire business woman Rihanna. New video shows her and her longtime partner rapper ASAP Rocky out together Saturday. The night

22:00before police say 35-year-old Ivana Ortiz allegedly opened fire with an AR-style rifle outside the couple's LA mansion while Rihanna was inside. Shooting just occurred. You can't believe the shot came from across the street of the effort gate. Authorities say at least 10 shots were fired before Ortiz allegedly fled. Tested the vehicle is a 20-23-24 Tesla border with paper license plate. Officers tracking her down in a mall parking garage eight miles away. They have the vehicle driver is out on his knees. They're approaching the vehicle down. Police returned to the scene several times Monday afternoon. Bullet holes strewn across the front gate now covered with tape. At least two other homes on the street were also hit by bullets. Police closing the entire block while they investigate. We're going to actually need to clear the street down the cold water. Our criminalists are going to be doing some protection analysis. Rihanna has so far not commented publicly about the incident but people reports a source close to the star says she doesn't understand why someone would target her family. Another added in

23:03the aftermath Rihanna is quote freaking the F out. It's not yet clear whether ASAP Rocky or the couple's three children were also home at the time. No injuries were reported. Suspect remains locked up on suspicion of attempted murder. Her bail is set at more than 10 million dollars as we learn new details about her past. ABC News has obtained these two mugshots of Ivana Ortiz stemming from a 20-23 domestic violence allegation in Florida. Investigators are now combing through her social media accounts where in recent weeks she appears to have made multiple bizarre references to Rihanna. You saw Rihanna? You saw her picture? The incident raises concerns about celebrity security when home addresses are often available. Sadly it's all too easy to find that the address of a celebrity or some other you know high net worth individual. I would hope that somebody of her profile does have a good protective intelligence team out there watching for these threats on social media. 25:09the technology JFK terminal one is one I would avoid it possible it took 90 minutes they finally took pity because I had my one year old and three year yeah it's a lot of the international airlines so it's opening a new one later this year so they haven't invested in the technology I also hear Miami can be pretty bad so I want to warn people it's not every airport is horrible but some are worse than others get mobile passport control app because that generally does help and but and when traveling domestically I cannot stress enough we've seen those long lines at Houston hobby airport what they don't tell you is that the TSA pre-check line in those airports is 10 15 minutes so but do not wait to sign up for pre-check when you get to the airport you have to give it three to five days you can go to your local staples submit your application so if you're traveling and don't have pre-check you have been warned you get it in advance yeah to 120 bucks or actually know 80 bucks for five years it is well worth the investment and your kids can go through but if you go to the airport it's a really long line clear you can sign up at the airport

26:10for clear so if the clear line which almost always moves quicker is available you can sign up for that program at the airport you know but we see all these wild oil price swings how is that in Jefffield though with 80 almost 60 percent right now so what does have the airfare effect it how they're going to be affected longer is longer is shorter yes so unlike gas prices which we're seeing those wild spikes almost immediately it takes longer with airfare we haven't seen it just yet we're still crunching the numbers but it's going to go if it continues at this price you will see an increase in air for they're saying right now at least 10 percent they'll need to bump fares but airfare is dynamic right there's a lot going on a lot of people are cancelling trips to the Middle East and Africa and they're rebooking to the Caribbean if you look at Caribbean airfares right now you can even buy tickets on a lot of days through airports like Puerto Rico and Saint Martin let's talk about some good news here because there are still some good bargains out there especially if you're starting to look ahead maybe planning your summer what are you in your city always a good deal trust me on that we love New York to Hawaii we're seeing under $500 for April Palm Beach is an easy alternative $171 and even if you don't want to go somewhere

36:43and now to new research out this morning that finds kids may be using their smart phones in schools much more than parents think and it could be having an impact on children's cognitive skills archived medical correspondent dr terror and rule it is here to break it down and tarot we know the conversation around phones is happening in every home in every school district across the country but this new study the numbers are pretty alarming it is it's happening in my home and i think every parent needs to listen to this it was really actually very eye-opening even for me as a parent so this was a study of seventy nine teenagers of ages eleven to eighteen in the southeastern part of the united states they looked at their smartphone use in schools for fourteen consecutive days during those school hours and they found that on average kids were using their phone every single hour during school for anywhere from two to two and a half hours there wasn't any single child that did not use their phone in this study during school hours and twenty five percent use them for more than three hours when they looked at what they were doing they saw that about forty minutes was spent on social media about fourteen minutes

37:44on entertainment apps fifteen to eighteen year olds were using their phones more than eleven to fourteen year olds not surprising but even the eleven to fourteen year olds over seventy percent of their time was spent on social media and entertainment when they looked at how often kids were actually picking up their phones it was sixty four times during the process of being in school and then they put them in a lab and they looked at their cognitive control and they found that it wasn't screen time that affected their cognitive control but it was the picking up of the phone so the more time they picked up the phone the less focus attention they had the ability to self-regulate so clearly we worry about the developing brain and the effects of the phone and we just are seeing more and more research that shows negative potential impact three hours I mean three hours the school day it was a third of the school day on average and it's already hard enough when you have a developed brain I guess you know but thirty two states out their limit or band cell phone usage in school but it's not easy to enforce that so what do you recommend parents do it's really hard and so I think parents can have discussions I just had it this morning

38:48with my child talking about this study about how it is that the phones can affect them it can affect their attention which disrupts their ability to learn to socially develop and to basically process information in an appropriate way they can model the appropriate self-regulatory behavior so we need to learn to teach our kids how to use phones in the right way and we can do that as parents certainly there are ways to turn off apps and notifications that aren't important during the school day parents can decide not to get a phone for their child you know in our home there are watches that are kind of smart watches that allow you to connect with your child but they can't do any of those other things certainly parents can get together and speak to their schools the PTA about what kinds of policies they can put in place keeping the phones out of the bedroom so that we preserve sleep for our children really important a lot that we can try to do but it's really difficult when it's not a state level policy you say a lot we could try to do have a feeling you're doing it with your kids it is hard thank you thank you so much to think about here and coming up in our GMA morning menu how young is too young to have kids try make up

42:04oh i like that is that your bronzer yeah and seeara says their content often sparks heated discussions in the comments section there's just a lot of debate on letting her wear makeup a lot of people see it as she's too young she's too little i feel like i'm allowing her to grow and express herself as anybody else you know should with their kids and this is just the way that she likes to do it beauty brands are now offering products they say are formulated for young children and are seeing a surge in demand like super smalls selling accessories and makeup play kits some of which include clear mascara and lipstick and pale pink blush ever eaten markets moisturizers and other skin care products for kids as young as three and clean naturals which sells low pigment makeup aimed at children between five and seven years old makeup is just a great way to use your imagination use your creativity become an individual really become unique it starts early so

43:04there might as well be a safe option like the kids see their parents wearing makeup or they see it in the stores or the malls and i think these beauty brands have a social responsibility to make sure that their messaging is a positive one and that they're not promoting these very unrealistic beauty standards experts say parents should be mindful of the messaging associated with beauty products and promote self esteem that is not rooted in appearance the disconnect is in the reason that they're using it and so if it isn't about creative expression and play and imagination and it becomes more about building a self esteem from the outside in that is really the concern Sierra says she stresses to her daughter that inner beauty is what matters most how do you feel baby when you wear makeup this how does it make you feel beautiful and then when you don't worry how does it make you feel like when you don't have it how do you feel still beautiful and we also spoke to board certified dermatologist doctor Whitney Boe for some guidance here

1:00:52you're but you can't help it I can't help it um but I just I what I wanted to write was like a self-help book that you keep in your purse and like open up like if you have trouble with anxiety I have a meditation and all that kind of stuff and then I realized I'm trying to write a book about helping people love themselves I have to actually love myself so I yeah and to do that you had to come clean not only with yourself but you decided to share as Robin would say make your mess your message yeah and one of the things that you that you talk about that I don't think any of us knew was about some abuse no I never talked about a young girl I was ashamed of it I yes I was sexually abused when I was starting an 11 years old and you take on a lot of shame and self-loathing and you think it's your fault and there's a lot of crap that goes with that and I realized that my shame my vulnerability wetball sharing it with some people that they were then able to make it into a weapon to hurt me and the only way I can take that weapon away is if I don't feel like it's a weapon yeah so I became I became really interested in digging deep and

1:01:57figuring out what that shame was about and the self-loathing and by digging deep into it now I'm like you're free from it yeah like I'm like yeah that's a part of me yeah yeah no the bad things don't define you the good things don't define you you just are perfectly imperfect my mom always said honey don't get on the roller coaster no because the highs are high and those dips can get pretty well they can hurt yeah yeah you also talk about your dad and some discoveries that you made can you share well I I've always had this relationship with my dad where I was like I wanted him to be proud of me and he was really difficult I learned some not great lessons some not great modeling about love and a long time marriage and it hurt me but I I love my dad he we tried to do the right thing but I'm so also angry at him for cheating on my mom and for and even now and even now he's been gone for 10 years now and I love him I talked to him but I'm like why did you got to do that

1:02:58dad you know and I just felt like as a parent he did the best he could with what he knew and as a human being he had immense flaws but I know he wanted to be good and he ended up showing up from our mom at the end and you have a new relationship with alcohol I do I gave up I went dry January in 2023 and then through the year I kind of like didn't drink a lot and then dry July and and then I decided to do again in in February in January of 24 and then it just became February March and then it's 25 and now it's 26 and I still haven't drank so I don't it just I feel better I don't get me wrong I sometimes I saw somebody drink in a dry martini the other day and I was like oh that looks really good and I was like yeah but I know how that's gonna make me feel right the next day I know how I'm gonna wake up feeling so that's more important to me congratulations that's I know you're very proud of that I love I love a good doctor pepper yeah you're a wild order you naughty girl I love my doctor pepper do you get into life with

1:08:07if you're going to eat or know the hust eat the hustle or you know whatever you you got to you got to penalize yourself no you're not doing that in this case absolutely because we're going to start as you said you can have some you can have so I told these waffle nacho fries and they have 21 grams of protein so let's go ahead and start making some black bean salsa okay I'm gonna put in the yummy tomatoes the onions the scallions the lemon juice just make that there you go and some lemon juice that's it all up let's go ahead and mix it all up there you go and so this is going to be a whole layer situation okay we've got textured vegetable protein as well as refried greens that we've sauteed so imagine this is steam and hot okay number going to put some of this on to the nachos go ahead just pour it on like like my kitchen is for dancing my kitchen is for spicy food that we're using oh you're dancing while you cook one hundred percent we're using uncomplicated ingredients the mama's out there the papa's out there have enough to do and let's go ahead let's

1:09:11show you a spicy are you a hot sauce spicy situation I'm not that spicy okay I like a little maybe I like some jalapeno okay so you go you do your side okay I'm gonna do my I'll do my side I'm spicy gal but you're very spicy I can see that the beauty behind this dish and here's an example of the finished product is that these are game day eats they're festive I believe that you know sitting around the table you can not only feel good in your body but you can feel good in community and that is what you to hustle is all about man it looks good okay I would eat it but I gotta talk I love wings but you have you have a twist on that using artichoke something else I love as well artichoke wings yes that is right so we have swapped and upgraded for more fiber and pretty much a really really good amount of protein 14 grams of protein in artichoke wings yes okay so here we go so we are going to take the artichoke you're going to do a little

1:10:14dippy dab in this mixture that has quinoa and has black seed and then this situation is going to be nice and coated and we have got the crispy finished products right here and this beautiful dip let's go ahead and demo this so we have got chickpeas and lemon and nutritional yeast and garlic and this is going to really bring those crispy artichoke wings to life and I know some folks at home might be thinking girl an artichoke is not a chicken I understand but I have folks who have come back for seconds again and again really this is the finished product right here see I just I didn't let people at home know I know how to use it up and that's the finished product right here and then we do so these are these are the crispy wings okay I love them in the air fryer or in the oven at 400 degrees but the reality is that we can still have
