• When there’s a problem, what do you do—fix it? Or blame the person who points it out? Trump threatens to hunt down “leakers” after news reports detailed a depletion of munitions stockpiles. The military has burned through nearly all of its offensive Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMSs) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSMs), and there are low levels of Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptors has caused greater concern. Replenishments of pre-war stockpiles will take years.

• What’s going on at the Interior Department? Normally boring and staid, since Doug Burgum took over last year, there has been confusion and concern that the agency is poorly run, has devolved into secrecy and has lost thousands of the staff needed to manage the national park systems and millions of acres of public lands. These complaints come as Burgum entered into bureaucratic infighting with Washington’s top prosecutor, Jeanine Pirro, over how Interior handled accusations of vandalism in connection with criminal charges centered on renovations to the Reflecting Pool. Pirro, according to The New York Times, laced into Burgum and alleged Interior misrepresented how the pool’s lining was damaged.

• Russia could attack a NATO country within weeks to test the alliance’s resolve, US intelligence warns. US officials believe Russia might attempt to escalate tensions by mounting a small land incursion or launching cyberattacks across eastern Europe anytime from this autumn to 2029, the Wall Street Journal reports.
