Time Well Spent with Cornelius F. Warren featuring Elder Sam Fisher
About this episode
While the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, recount the life of Jesus Christ, the book of Romans explores the significance of His sacrificial death. As such, it has been called “the gospel according to Paul.” In a question and answer format, Romans is the most systematic presentation of doctrine in the Bible. But the Good News is more than theology pondered; it is a life to be lived – a life of righteousness, befitting one whom God declares, “not guilty” of offending Him if we trust in Jesus Christ. Join Pastor Cornelius F. Warren and Elder S.E. Fisher, Sr. in this powerful time of biblical teaching. Chapter 6 falls into two main sections: In verses 1-14, Paul addresses an objection that he knows will follow from what he has been teaching about God justifying sinners by grace alone through faith alone, apart from any merit. He is especially responding to what he has just said in Romans 5: 20, “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” The anticipated response is, “If God’s response to increased sin is to pour out super-abundant grace, then maybe we should sin all the more so that God can be all the more gracious!” In verses 1-4, his main idea is: Our union with Christ in His death and resurrection is the foundation for separation from sin and walking in newness of life.Call (917) 889-9158
