0:00Hello and welcome to the Daily Office podcast, the NoFus No Frills podcast for morning and evening prayer, according to the ACNA's 2019 Book of Common Prayer, presented by Trinity Anglican Seminary. I'm your host, Andrew Russell, and welcome to Morning Prayer. Before we begin our time together, let's spend a few moments in silence. O send out your light and your truth that they may lead me and bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God. Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.

1:01And apart from your grace, there is no health in us. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare all those who confess their faults. Restore all those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to all people in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant almost merciful Father for His sake that we may now live a godly, righteous, and sober life to the glory of your holy name. Amen. Grant to your faithful people merciful Lord, pardon and peace that we may be cleansed from all our sins and serve you with a quiet mind through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Lord, open our lips and our mouth shall proclaim your praise. O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.

2:04The earth is the Lord's, for he made it. O come, let us adore him. O come, let us sing unto the Lord. Let us heartily rejoice in the strength of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving and show ourselves glad in Him with Psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great king above all gods. In his hand are all the depths of the earth and the heights of the hills are his also. The sea is his for he made it and his hands prepared the dry land. O come, let us worship and fall down and kneel before the Lord our Maker. For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. The earth is the Lord's, for he made it. O come, let us adore him.

3:05The Psalms appointed for this morning are Psalms 26 and 28. Be my judge, O Lord, for I have walked innocently. My trust has been in the Lord. Therefore I shall not fall. Test me, O Lord, and prove me, examine my heart and my mind. For your loving kindness is ever before my eyes, and I will walk in your truth. I have not dwelt with evil-doers. Neither will I have fellowship with a deceitful. I have hated the company of the wicked and will not sit among the ungodly. I will wash my hands in innocence, O Lord, and so will I go to your altar that I may lift up the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all your wondrous works. Lord, I have loved the habitation of your house and the place where your honored dwells. O take not away my soul with the sinners, nor my life with the bloodthirsty,

4:09whose hands are full of wickedness, and their right hand full of bribes. But as for me, I will walk innocently, O deliver me, and be merciful unto me. My foot stands firm. I will praise the Lord in the congregations. Psalm 28 Unto you will I cry, O Lord, my rock. Do not be deaf to my prayer. Lest if you do not answer, I become like those who go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my humble petitions when I cry unto you, when I hold up my hands toward the sanctuary of your holy temple. O cast me not away, neither destroy me with the ungodly and evil dewers, who speak as friends to their neighbors, but imagine evil in their hearts. Reward them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their own inventions,

5:09recompense them according to the work of their hands. Pay them what they have deserved. For they regard not in their mind the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands. Therefore, he shall break them down and not build them up. Praise be the Lord, for he has heard the voice of my humble petitions. The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore, my heart dances for joy, and in my song will I praise him. The Lord is my strength, and he is the sure defense of his anointed. O save your people, and give your blessing to your inheritance. Feed them, and lift them up forever. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

6:10A reading from the first book of kings, beginning with the second chapter, the first verse. When David's time to die drew near, he commanded Solomon, his son, saying, I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn, that the Lord may establish his word, that he spoke concerning me, saying, if your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart, and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel. Moreover, you also know what Joab, the son of Zeruaya, did to me,

7:12how he dealt with the two commanders of the armies of Israel, Abner, the son of Nair, and Amasah, the son of Jethair, whom he killed, avenging in time of peace for blood that had been shed in war, and putting the blood of war on the belt around his waist, and on the sandals on his feet. Act therefore according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to Shey'ul in peace, but deal loyally with the sons of Barzalai, the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table, for with such loyalty, they met me when I fled from Absalom your brother, and there is also with you Shema, the son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse on the day when I went to Mahnaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,

8:13I will not put you to death with the sword. Now therefore do not hold him guiltless for you are a wise man. You will know what you ought to do to him, and you shall bring his gray head down with blood to Shey'ul. Then David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David, and the time that David reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem. So Solomon sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was firmly established. Then Adonajah, the son of Haggif, came to Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, and she said, do you come peacefully? He said, peacefully. Then he said, I have something to say to you. She said, speak. He said, you know that the kingdom was mine,

9:15and that all Israel fully expected me to reign. However, the kingdom has turned about and become my brothers, for it was his from the Lord. And now I have one request to make of you, do not refuse me. She said to him, speak. And he said, please ask King Solomon, he will not refuse you, to give me Abyssaag the Shunamite as my wife. Bathsheba said very well, I will speak for you to the king. So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him on behalf of Adonajah, and the king rose to meet her and bowed down to her. Then he sat on his throne and had a seat brought for the king's mother, and she sat on his right. Then she said, I have one small request to make of you, do not refuse me. And the king said to her, make your request my mother,

10:16for I will not refuse you. She said, let Abyssaag the Shunamite be given to Adonajah your brother as his wife. King Solomon answered his mother, and why do you ask Abyssaag the Shunamite for Adonajah? Ask for him the kingdom also, for he is my older brother, and on his side or Abiyath are the priest and Joab the son of Zerwaya. Then King Solomon swore by the Lord, saying, God do so to me and more also if this word does not cost Adonajah his life. Now therefore as the Lord lives, who has established me and placed me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house as he promised, Adonajah shall be put to death today. So King Solomon sent Beniah the son of Jeholyada, and he struck him down, and he died.

11:18The word of the Lord, thanks be to God. We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as Lord, all creation worships you, the Father ever lasting, to you all angels, all the powers of heaven, the cherubim and seraphim, sing in endless praise, holy, holy, holy, Lord God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. The glorious company of apostles praise you, the noble fellowship of prophets praise you, the white robed army of martyrs praise you, throughout the world the holy church acclaims you, Father of majesty unbounded, your true and only son worthy of all praise, and the Holy Spirit advocate and guide. You Christ are the King of glory, the eternal son of the

12:19Father. When you took our flesh to set us free, you humbly chose the Virgin's womb. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God's right hand in glory. We believe that you will come to be our judge. Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory ever lasting . Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance, govern and uphold them now and always. Day by day, we bless you. We praise your name forever. Keep us today, Lord, from all sin, have mercy on us, Lord have mercy. Lord, show us your love and mercy, for we have put our trust in you. And you, Lord, is our hope. Let us never be put to shame.

13:23A reading from the epistle to the Hebrews, beginning with the first chapter, the first verse. Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets. But in these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God, and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name He has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, you are my Son, today I have begotten you, or again, I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son.

14:26And again, when He brings the first born into the world, He says, let all God's angels worship Him. Of the angels, He says, He makes His angels wins, and His ministers aflame a fire, but of the Son, He says, your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions. And you, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain. They will all wear out like a garment, like a robe, you will roll them up, like a garment, they will be changed, but you are the same, and your years will have no end. And to which of the angels has He ever said, sit at my right hand until I make

15:32your enemies a footstool for your feet? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? The word of the Lord, thanks be to God. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel. He has come to His people and set them free. He has raised up for us a mighty Savior, born of the house of His servant, David. Through His holy prophets, He promised of old that He would save us from our enemies, from the hands of all who hate us. He promised to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant. This was the oath He swore to our Father, Abraham, to set us free from the hands of our enemies, free to worship Him without fear, holy and righteous in His sight, all the days of our

16:33life. You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the most high, for you will go before the Lord to prepare His way, to give His people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins. In the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Now let us confess our faith in the words of the Apostles Creed. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He

17:37suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Lord be with you, and with your spirit. Let us pray. were from that Holy unbelief, or not, the Son of God.

18:41but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever and ever, amen. O Lord, show your mercy upon us and grant us your salvation. O Lord, guide those who govern us and lead us in the way of justice and truth. Clothe your ministers with righteousness and let your people sing with joy. O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance. Give peace in our time, O Lord, and defend us by your mighty power. Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten nor the hope of the poor be taken away. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and take not your Holy Spirit from us. O Lord, God grant your people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil. And with pure hearts and minds to follow you, the only God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord,

19:44who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit. One God, now and forever, amen. Almighty and everlasting God, you called your servant Alexander Crumel to preach the gospel to the people of Liberia. Raise up in this and every land, evangelists and heralds of your kingdom. That your church may proclaim the unsurczable riches of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit. One God, now and forever, amen. Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being. We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit that in all the cares and occupations of our life, we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight through Jesus Christ, our Lord, amen. Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hardwood of the cross

20:47that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace. So clothe us in your spirit that we reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and the love of you for the honor of your name, amen. 21:50for all your goodness and loving kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation and all the blessings of this life, but above all for your immeasurable love and the redemption of the world by our Lord, Jesus Christ, for the means of grace and for the hope of glory. And we pray give us such an awareness of your mercies that with truly thankful hearts, we may show forth your praise not only with our lips, but in our lives by giving up ourselves to your service and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days through Jesus Christ our Lord to whom with you and the Holy Spirit, the honor and glory throughout all ages, amen. Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you and you have promised through your well beloved son that when two or three are gathered together in his name, you will grant their requests. fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us,

22:55granting us in this world knowledge of your truth and in the age to come life ever lasting. Amen. Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God.
