Welcome to this day in history. Here's what happened on April 4th. Franklin Delano Roosevelt holds the record for the most days in office as U.S. President with 4,422. Conversely, William Henry Harrison, who died in office on this day in 1841, holds the unfortunate record for the fewest days at just 32. Long believed to have fallen ill after delivering his lengthy inaugural address in cold weather, Harrison was said to have developed pneumonia. However, some modern historians and medical experts now suggest he may have died from enteric fever, likely caused by contaminated water at the White House, which, at the time, drew from a polluted water supply. In fact, ironically, the man with the shortest White House tenure delivered the longest

inaugural address in history. This presidential speech delivered on a bitterly cold March morning, lasted one hour and 45 minutes. Also on this day in history, in 1928, poet, novelist, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou was born. In 1968, civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. And in 1973, the World Trade Center opened in New York City. That's all for today. Come back tomorrow to learn a little bit more about the world around you, be kind to yourself and others, and enjoy the rest of your day.
