All praise and thanks belongs to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon his servant and final messenger Muhammad ﷺ respected brothers and sisters in Islam when a person has finally made the intention and committed to perform al Umrah and al Hajj the first thing that we begin with is al Ehram wearing al Ehram which is known as two white cloth that we wear to enter a state of Ehram and perform our Umrah and our Hajj with them brothers and sisters in Islam what we're going to discuss is the Ehram and what is entering a state of Ehram then we're going to speak about the purpose of the Ehram itself why does it exist

why do we wear it and then we're going to speak about something called Mahduratul Ehram the prohibitions that are upon each and every single person that enters a state of Ehram and what is the purpose for why there are certain things that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala prohibited when we wear an enter a state of Ehram firstly my brothers and sisters in Islam before we wear the Ehram the believer is supposed to have a shower we begin with a russan from top to bottom and this is both for the man and for the woman well russan don't just think of a russan as a random shower that you are taking this is a spiritual type of shower it has those type of meanings in them

so when you're bathing yourself and you're performing a russan so that you can enter into Ehram and wear the Ehram then I want you to reflect and ponder over the fact that as you're performing this russan and you're making a lodo this is washing away your sins it is washing away the sins and the sins of the limbs the sins of the tongue the sins of the e the sins of the eye all this is being washed away and ponder over this great meaning when we go to do prayer we make wubu when we're going to the house of Allah Azza wa Jall for Umrah and Hajj we do russan because the journey is a greater type of journey so it required a russan from you and I and this is most the hub it's a sunnah it's a recommended matter for both men and women so as you're having the shower don't just think that you're washing your body

from the filth and the dirt and the sweat rather you're washing your soul as well from the filth that is attached to the heart of sins and bad manners and words that have come out from your mouth afterwards the sunnah is that if you have nails that need to be cut you cut them this is for both men and women and if there is hair in areas where it is a sunnah to shave and cut the hair and to pluck it then you also do so if there's a need otherwise if you've done that and there's no need then you may leave that once you've had a complete shower and you've cleaned yourself afterwards the woman proceeds to wear her ahram and the ahram of a woman is her clothes nothing different nothing differs she wears exactly what she randomly and usually wears

and we're going to speak about what's forbidden for a woman to wear when she enters the state of ahram so a woman gets into her coat and now in the case of the men you will also wear an ahram but the ahram is two white cloths and they could be any color but generally the people wear the white cloth every single type of clothing that you're wearing must be removed from singlets to shirts to pants to underwear to socks all of that needs to be completely removed from the body and then the men will wear an ahr and ahridah the ahr being the lower garment the lower piece of cloth that we tie around our waist we wear a white cloth on top of our shoulders that stretches to cover the upper body of ours

this is ahram now we've put this on and we need to understand what are we putting on what is the purpose of this this my brothers and sisters it symbolizes al-Qafan it symbolizes the shroud that others will put on us before they put us in our grave and so you need to reflect over this moment today you are performing a russan for yourself and you are literally shrouding yourself and one day you will come in where others will give you the russan and will show you before you put in your grave meeting Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the life of al-barzakh and so the hajj the one who is doing al-umrah al-hajj is in the very similar boat you are doing a russan and then you're wearing this shroud and you are going to meet Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala at his house

to perform al-umrah al-hajj so be cognizant and aware of this fact for very little anyone who's aware of this fact his heart will be present alongside his body when he is performing al-hajj-ul-umrah and one of the main purposes of al-hajj-ul-umrah is to remind us of the afterlife and to prepare us for the meeting with Allah Azza wa Jall and what better than getting in the colds that will be our final colds before we depart this world of life so a person needs to act humble so many times I've done hajj-ul-umrah or recently in an amulah trip of mine a brother came up to me and said to me I'm wearing this cloth and it's really humiliating for me I actually feel humiliated and I said to him brother this is exactly the purpose of this type of colding

to humble us, to bring us down to what a human is in the sight of Allah Azza wa Jall that's who we are all of us are the same all of us are equal when you do your hajj and your amulah you will look to people to your right and people to your left and everyone is wearing like you this is the point of this colding Allah Azza wa Jall wants us to be all equal and for us to see that we are all equal you may be there and there's a millionaire sitting next to and maybe onto the other side of you there's someone who barely found anything that they to eat and you won't be able to tell the difference there may be a president sitting next to someone high-profile person in his own community back in his country and maybe someone that people don't even care about and no one is even aware of such a person but today everyone is equal during al-Hajj al-Amer

this is the purpose of this colding to remind you and I that that's how we are all in the sight of Allah Azza wa Jall the only difference between us and others is the level of takwa and takwa resides in the heart you and I cannot even judge our own takwa let alone the piety and the righteousness of others that is for Allah Azza wa Jall and he'll judge us according to our heart and its piety on the day of judgment so once you've put this colding and you've reflected over these meanings brothers and sisters in Islam the next thing is that we are supposed to enter the state of Ehram entering the state of Ehram and to enter the state of Ehram that is done with words that you utter on your tongue so if you're going towards the house of Allah Azza wa Jall you're supposed to pass one of five stations

they're known as al-Mirqat there's one for the people of Medina one for the people of Iraq one for the people that come from Yemen one from the people that come from Najd and there are five stations the furthest one from the house of Allah is Mirqat al-Midina known as thel-Hulayfa otherwise known today as Abiyar Ali also but the proper naming that the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave it was thel-Hulayfa so many people go from there towards their Hajj and Umrah so you need to pass by one of these in order to do your Umrah and once you pass by the Miqat at that moment whether a million of female you're intending al-Umrah or intending al-Hajj you're supposed to say Labbayq Allahumma Umrah this is of course in the situation of the one who is

performing Hajj ut-Tamattua Hajj ut-Tamattua meaning you will do a Umrah first then afterwards you'll do a Hajj so you'll start off with Aumrah and that's the common one that many people do you'll say Labbayq Allahumma Umrah or Allah I am here answering your call to perform Aumrah once you've said these words you have entered a state of Ahram you have entered the state of Ahram and once the woman says Labbayq Allahumma Umrah you have also entered the state of Ahram and what does that mean? it means now there are certain things that Ahram they are forbidden you're not allowed to do while in this state until you come out of the state of Ahram and that is by finishing your Umrah now listen very carefully to know what these things are

number one we are in a state of Ahram we are not allowed to so let's just be clear on something and that is Labbayq Allahumma Umrah these words that bring you into a state of Ahram you can say them anytime after you wear the Ahram you can say them anytime before the Miqat but if you delayed saying them then you have to say them at the Miqat and you're not allowed to say them after the Miqat if you do so then there is a penalty that needs to be paid so you'll say Labbayq Allahumma Umrah and you've entered a state of Ahram once you've entered the state of Ahram there are seven things that are forbidden number one shaving or cutting the hair that is not allowed if a person scratched his hair and a hair fell

that's no problem don't stress about that because that is not considered shaving or cutting hair and i'll tell you the purpose for why these prohibitions are in place number two we're not allowed to clip nails if there is a broken nail and you just pull it off that's fine that's not considered clipping nails and you're not allowed to clip nails of the fingers and of the toes number three a breed a person that's entered the state of Ahram is not allowed to apply perfume to his body so if you're applying perfume to your body before you said Labbayq Allahumma Umrah even if you had worn the two pieces of white cloth it would be permissible but after you say Labbayq Allahumma Umrah you're not allowed to apply anything of centered perfume on your body and also it's not allowed to apply it on the Ahram itself

and if any perfume got to the Ahram then that needs to be washed off so that the fragrance may go number four of the matters that are forbidden in a state of Ahram is hunting even though it's not relevant and people are not hunting anything because of the transportation that takes us from Al-Madeena to Makkah or wherever you're going to Makkah I will explain to you the purpose for why these prohibitions were in place so no hunting allowed that means you cannot hunt a rabbit or a deer or a gazelle these are hunted animals but if a person in the state of Ahram was to slaughter a sheep or a cow or a camel that's permissible because these are not hunted animals the hunted animal is the animal that is supposed to be hunted with a spear or a gun and so on so that's not allowed for the person in a state of Ahram

number five Aqdun Nikkah it is not allowed to perform marriage contracts and to get married while in a state of Ahram number six it's not allowed to perform any intimate relations with one spouse that would destroy your state of Ahram so that would be forbidden and also what is forbidden in a state of Ahram is sexual language that is spoken between the spouses or even touches that are due to desire and so on all that would be forbidden then there are two forbidden matters during the state of Ahram that are exclusive to men and two that are exclusive to women the two that are exclusive to men number one is fitted clothing so a man in a state of Ahram

is not to wear any fitted clothing so pants underwear a shirt all of that is not allowed including today there are some Ahrams that are just worn it's just worn as a as a pants that doesn't have sleeves for the two legs that type of Ahram is not allowed but if you purchased an Ahram that has velcro on it and that's how you racked it around your waist that would be fine but to just wear it like a pants then that type of Ahram is forbidden we're not allowed to wear anything that is fitted sometimes people when they read al-Makhir and it's translated as stitched clothing they think anything that is stitched is forbidden brothers and sisters in Islam this is a to the brothers especially this is a big misconception al-Makhir means fitted

clothing anything that fits onto your body like what we said the pants not stitched clothing otherwise the Ahram you're wearing is stitched and the footwear you're going to wear is stitched and perhaps you'll watch that you have may also have stitches on it if it's leather and so on that's all permissible no problems what is meant by stitched is fitted clothing so a man is supposed to avoid any type of fitted clothing watch is allowed headphones e-phones all that is permissible no problems and when we speak about fitted clothing we need to be careful of the footwear we are wearing for the Ahram a woman is allowed to wear any type of in fact she has to cover her entire feet because that's a aura but when it comes for the footwear of a man the principle is that the majority of the foot needs to be uncovered and exposed the majority of the foot

the toes are not allowed to be covered the ankle is not allowed to be covered and the heel is not allowed to be covered so if that's the type of footwear you're wearing then that would be fine during the state of Ahram and the second exclusive matter that is Fibidin upon men during the state of Ahram that would be Daratiyatur Ras to cover the head as men in a state of Ahram we are not allowed to cover the head either with a cap like the one I'm wearing or another hat or even with Ahram itself to put it over your head would be Fibidin the head needs to be uncovered during this entire time while you are in a state of Ahram and the two Fibidin matters that are exclusive to women Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Fibid that a woman wear and Nikab is not allowed and Nikab of course is the face cover

that is open for the eyes and tied to the back of the head that is Fibidin for a woman to wear during a state of Ahram and also Fibidin upon the woman al-Qafazid which is the two goves that cover the right and the left hand so if a woman covers her hand with goves and wears Nikab what does she do when she enters the state of Ahram knowing that these are Fibidin the solution is that she wears a krimad of course the headscarf that she's wearing and she may attach to it a a cloth that covers her face she may attach a cloth to the headscarf that can be dropped onto her face and as a result it covers the face and her hands maybe put underneath the jilbeb and that way she has covered her hands from the eyes of non-Mahra men that would be a solution

otherwise a woman can also wear the face veil that is tied to the back of the head but it has no opening for the eye because that's what a Nikab is a Nikab is what has an opening for the eyes that's what a woman is supposed to keep away from while in a state of Ahram brothers and sisters in Islam we come now to our point of discussion and that is what is the purpose of these prohibitions now that we have explained them in the last 10 minutes also what is the purpose and the wisdom for why these certain matters are Fibidin during a state of Ahram Al-Alamah Rahimahullah mentioned that one of the grand purposes of al-Hajjwal Umrah and that shines in the state of Ahram is to detach us from worldly luxuries and comforts

Allahu Akbar pay attention brothers and sisters every one of these matters that i mentioned to you of what is prohibited in Ahram is a luxury and a comfort every one of them cutting the hair is a luxury it's a comfort i mean people they always cut their hair and they fix their some people do this two times a week three times a week and there's a trend going on in where people are cutting their hair a lot more than they used to right clean it up and fix it up it's a luxury to cut your hair clipping the nails is a luxury as well perfume perfume is a luxury everyone likes to smell nice so it's a luxury and that's Fibidin during the state of Ahram also hunting hunting believe it or not is an entertainment it's a luxury it's a joy for those who love that type of sport hunting animals and eating its meat fresh that's a luxury it's a comfort

also marriage contracts this is a joyful moment it's a it's a moment of pleasure and joy also intimate relations and the intimate moments between a husband and a wife these are moments of comfort moments of joy and they are Fibidin during a state of Ahram like covering your head that's a luxury as well people go out and buy certain caps to cover their hair that's a luxury also wearing fitted clothing i mean you'd prefer to wear fitted clothing then to have two pieces of cloth on you and have no underwear underneath no underpants nothing so fitted clothing is a luxury we enjoy what we wear and it brings us comfort to the body and also for the woman to wear that nirqab and to wear the the gloves is a comfort for her so all these matters that Allah Zawajil Fibid for us to have

during the state of Ahram are all comforts and luxuries and Allah Zawajil Fibid them so that the heart detaches from the luxuries and the comforts of this life hence enabling the believer to attach to Allah Zawajil and to the preparation of the afterlife what a beautiful worship and what a beautiful start to Al-Umrah Wal-Hajj we enter the state of Ahram and the Ahram itself and the shower before that reminded us of the afterlife and death and the meeting with Allah Zawajil and then the Fibid in matters upon us during the Ahram kept us away from luxuries of this world the life when you understand these meanings you'll be able to connect with the worship of Umrah Wal-Hajj a lot more than if you did not know what we discussed in the last three

minutes Allahu Akbar and this is how knowledge revolutionizes your experience of Al-Hajjul Umrah and this is how a person performs Hajj and Umrah not only with their body but with their heart as well when we understand these meanings this is the soul of the Hajj these are the inner dimensions of Al-Hajj and Al-Umrah and always focus on the fact that the more we detach from this world the life the more we are ready to meet Allah Azza wa Jal and to meet him while he is pleased with us subhanahu wa ta'ala and of course this world the life in and of itself is not condemned if it was to contribute towards your righteousness and your goodness this world the life becomes condemned when it distracts from the remembrance of Allah Azza wa Jal and from righteous deeds

we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant us goodness we ask him subhanahu wa ta'ala that he purify our sincere our intentions and he grants us sincerity and we ask him subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive our sins and our shortcomings and to accept our gatherings of goodness howdy howdy ho and welcome to fantasy fanfellas i'm Hayden producer of the fantasy fangirls podcast and your resident lover of all things sanderson and i'm steven your bookish internet goofball but you can call me the smash daddy and we are currently deep-diving Brandon Sanderson's fantasy epic misborn but here's the catch steven here has not read misborn before that's right hey hey so each week you'll get my unfiltered raw reactions to every single and along the way we'll do character deep dives magic explainers and steven will even try to guess what's next spoiler alert he'll be wrong news flash i'm never wrong episodes come out every Wednesday and you can find fantasy fanfellas wherever you get your podcasts over 90 of the
