Navigating the US healthcare system is like playing a game, except you don't know the rules. The instructions are written in a language you don't speak, and the stakes are your life. As a result, women are often left without answers or the outcomes and experiences they deserve. The Women's Health Playbook is here to change that. In each episode, leading experts will give you the plays you've never had. They move beyond general advice to deliver actionable tactics and strategies you can use to take control of your health and healthcare journey. Hi, I'm Priya Batija, and I'm here to give you the plays. I have my own experiences in healthcare, but I've spent the last 22 years working with hospitals, startups, and public health organizations to understand healthcare and make it better for all of us. Over the next six episodes, we're going to break down a doctor's visit. We're going to help you find the right doctor. Think about what you want from the relationship.

It's okay to assess what you want in advance and consider that. Prep for your appointment. This is the time that you are paying for, and you deserve to take up space in that room. Understand the paperwork you get when you show up at your doctor's office. These are not throwaway documents. Each one has a different purpose, and each is really important. We'll give you tools to help you navigate your follow-up care, building your relationship with your clinician and care team. It's your health. It's your body. If that doctor is not listening to you, find another one. And then we'll break down the boring stuff, like the bills that often cause us the most stress. In any other industry, you know exactly what you're getting and why you're getting it, healthcare, you understand what you're getting, but not why the costs are the way that they are. You should listen to this podcast if you've ever been frustrated by the healthcare system. If you've ever gone into a doctor's appointment and left with more questions than answers, if you've ever wondered, why are you getting charged a certain amount for a doctor's visit?

Or if you've left an appointment without knowing what the plan of action is, this podcast is for you. We'll be dropping the entire play at one time. Next episode so you can fully understand your doctor's appointment whenever you choose to listen. Can't wait for you to join us on the Women's Health Playbook. Our experts really break it down. And the more we all know, the better healthcare will be for all of us. Welcome to the Women's Health Playbook. We are here to help make sense of healthcare.
