That's two more hours left. Compelling insights unpredictable conversations encouragement for your day is the Patrick Madrid show on row the radio. Okay as promised we're going to go back to a phone call that I was speaking to Maria in Chicago just before the break and she and I were having a good nature disagreement on how to handle this situation. So for those of you who are just tuning tuning in welcome first of all we were talking about a scenario or a couple different scenarios and I had shared yesterday and then I talked a little bit again today about a scenario in which a Catholic grandfather is in a dilemma because he
doesn't know whether or not to go to the rebaptism ceremony at a Protestant church of his Catholic grandchild who had been baptized in the Catholic church as a baby because at that time his Catholic daughter and her Protestant husband had gotten married in the Catholic church so I'm sort of compressing a timeline here and now the Catholic daughter the mother of this child is now has left the church and is now attending a Protestant church and they're going to rebaptize this eight year old kid after he's already been validly baptized so that was a scenario that I dealt with yesterday and then Maria in Chicago called in a little while ago and so we're going to kind of recap from there so Maria rather than me explaining your scenario could you and could you restate the scenario that you went through that you wanted to disagree with me on? Well just I've experienced in particular where I've been invited to like bankwoods and things
like that in honor of someone with say a disease like cancer related diseases in particular where it was sponsored by an organization that is fighting for a cure for that form of cancer but also donate money to plant parenthood and and so I have in the past I've elected not to attend these kinds of events and and I've often I've went so far as to offer to say listen I understand I'm really want you to know that I want a support a cure for the disease I just don't think that the companies themselves should I don't think I should give money to companies that support things that I fundamentally believe are immoral and so so in retrospect I will not attend your event but I will donate in your name you know some money to a different organization that doesn't support abortion
and what I've experienced in those kind of things is you know by not attending is that the people that I do this to have grown quite angry at me not to the point of like cut a me off because they are they are like you know relative you know and so they'll still talk with me and do things with me but they they just have this bad sour taste in their mouth and they're like she's they don't want anything to do with the Catholic faith because they feel like Catholics are just they they have such strong beliefs that they can't try even to get along with people outside the faith and if we don't if we don't believe what they believe then they don't want anything to do with us and even even when I take these extended steps it's still you know like to try to explain to them I I don't not support you I do not I don't I just I cannot give my money to and and then like I I'm personally you
know confront it with a spot where like my own son his thinking of like getting married in the a Protestant church and I love his girlfriend she's a very very kind girl but he he really doesn't want to be Catholic anymore and now we're like now we're you know we're at this place where it's like oh now we have to decide do we go to his wedding or not go to his wedding although he has said that he he he says if he needs to apostasize then he would be willing to do that so I don't know I'm I'm really stuck but I also have my husband who is who it has a terminal illness and is utterly overly concerned with his well-being with God rightly so yeah who is actually thinking maybe I shouldn't go to my son's wedding because I don't want to go to hell because I made a wrong choice and another son who is discerning the priesthood who also is like well I don't want to do anything immoral because I'm going to be a priest I can't you know you know put myself in this kind of
you know situation where I'm you know contradicting my beliefs yeah and and I heartbreaking for me because you know I love my son and I want to be able to go to his wedding and I don't know maybe these are two different kinds of things but but my my big point is when you don't attempt things my experience has always been that the people who are non-catholic are like so much like these are the Catholics these are all the things that we hate about Catholics is they only believe their own faith and they if you don't believe what they believe then they don't want anything to do with you yeah I hear you I do and I you know I I appreciate that you're generous and that you are seeking the good of the other person I know you're committed to that so that's a good thing and I think I share the same goal with you but I would offer a few things number one is notice that in these equations you're not the one doing anything wrong you're suffering because
the other person is doing something wrong and they don't like the fact that you're not going along to get along but you're not the cause of the problem they are so how painful it must be for you for you as mother as a mother to hear your son say well if I have to apostasy from the Catholic faith that's what I'll do I mean that would be a dagger in my heart and I can only imagine how it pains you to hear that but notice that's him doing something wrong not you and where it gets weird is that the the person who's causing the problem in the first place blames you so notice the dynamic that's the first thing the second thing is and I understand the point you're making believe me I don't know if I've had to experience this as much as you have perhaps but I know what what you mean when you say that other people well that's it I'll never be Catholic or look at those Catholics they're so you know on their high horses or whatever I personally don't care I don't care I do not
care if somebody feels that way and if they get angry and if they make bad decisions on the basis of me simply not wanting to go along to get along I don't care and maybe I'm not saying that to be flipping but as I have gotten older and I realize how much closer I am to eternity than I was however long ago I really don't care anymore not because I don't care about people but I care about trying to do the right thing even if other people don't like it and what I was talking about by way of human respect there just there were two verses I wanted to get to and here they are one is in Galatians chapter 1 verse 10 for I am now for am I now seeking the favor of men or of God or am I trying to please men if I were still pleasing men I should not be a servant of Christ to me that's like wow right between the eyes and then a similar passage is very brief it's first S. Lonean's chapter 2 verse 4 we speak not to please men but to please God who tests our hearts
and it's those those sentiments that I have in my mind when I'm thinking I don't want to seek after human respect they're planning people who don't respect me don't like me anyway okay that's fine whatever maybe I'm the cause of it maybe I'm not but in the end it doesn't matter and it really doesn't matter to me if somebody gets angry because that's between him and God and to make a bad decision on the basis that some Catholic wouldn't go along to get along therefore I reject the Catholic Church I mean that's that's a dumb way to argue but some people do that so that's all I wanted to add to our discussion was that my solution is to as best I can and I'm not perfect by any means but to try to ignore the desire to be respected by other people because in the end it doesn't really matter whether they do or they don't all I think is for me what matters is to do
what in my conscience I believe is the right thing to do and if I can do that and I have to suffer some consequences okay I'll suffer those consequences but I wouldn't want to look back later with regret and say yeah I went along to get along I kind of compromised I was wishy washy I waffled I didn't take a stand I mean I've got plenty of regrets in my life I don't want to add any more to them so that's my personal policy that I don't want to add more regrets later for I know I've said this a hundred times already but going along to get along because I don't care right they don't like it I don't care I don't care yeah I guess I maybe the part and I'm sorry for being emotional about this but you know I think the part that's hard for me is I feel like you know I don't know maybe I think the real struggle for me is the amount of suffering that I feel like I have to face you know to make these choices just seem so
so I don't know it just seems extraordinarily difficult that it makes it really hard for me to you know want to accept it you know they have faith especially you know when it comes to the things that I really care about you know yeah you know and especially people when it it looks like I have to suffer and give up relations with people that I actually do genuinely care about and want to have a good relationship and they can't see it that way and yeah and so then I you know I do too you know I'm sorry to interrupt I do too but I don't put that as the highest good there's a higher good than as good as that is yeah so how do you then like how do you you know like how do you find you know I don't know maybe maybe I'm just not rightly ordered with God you know that I just put so much into my relationship with people here on earth that like I don't you know think of God first I don't know I'm struggling to understand why I can't even
come to like want to even accept this fate of like you know that like I could be like you know ostracized from my family or you know or at least you know have like you know some of my children you know don't even want to be around me anymore because of you know my choices that I need to be got to me yeah that's really a heavy cross you know very and then and then like I sometimes I feel like God it's like and I do question because it's like you know God you're already taking you know my husband for me I'm probably about to be widowed at a very young age I'm only you know my all my children have even grown up and um and you know and then I'm also going to potentially lose some of my children like is this the price that I have to pay to have a son who's going to be a priest I don't know I I don't know I maybe I'm completely irrationalizing all this in the wrong way but you know like I don't think so I mean that sounds very hard very
painful what you're going through and I could I could easily understand you know feeling these conflicting emotions and that great cloud of unknowing you know what is it God wants from me what's the right thing to do um but I don't think you can go wrong if you as you're asking the Lord Lord show me what's the right thing to do because he will and sometimes the right thing to do is the hard thing to do the easy thing to do in my experience at least is more often than not not the right thing to do but it's easier and I'm sure you read the book of Job in the Old Testament and the story there might be some consolation to you because the the setup for the whole story is that the devil says to God I'll bet you I can get Job to curse you to you know doubt you love him doubt you you maybe even doubt that you exist perhaps and God says okay go for it and so everything
that Job had was stripped away his wealth his flocks his home his children his wife his health and he reaches that nader where he's sitting on a pile of dung scratching the the sores on his body he's lost everything and he still won't you know you know the story and he still won't doubt God and then everything is restored even more than he had before and it's that moral tale of trusting in God even though the suffering seemed to be mounting and you know things are closing in but he refuses to not trust in God and then in the end God restores everything and then some something to think about if nothing else you know in your situation no but it's hard and I know that you're going through a lot of difficulty with this and you know my prayers for your husband
that's got to be very difficult but hang in there and I don't mean that as a trite slogan I mean really hang in there and keep trusting that the Lord in the midst of all this suffering and the backlash that you're getting from other people because the Lord will will carry you through no doubt and I'm sure you know that all right well yeah I kind of but I don't know I think I've been getting to a point in my life where like I felt like I trusted God so much in the past and no I'm getting to the point where like it's becoming very difficult to do that you know and maybe it's just because it's just hitting home even more than ever before you know. Yeah absolutely do you have friends nearby that can rally around you relative friends? You know I don't know you know I
mean you know like maybe like you know the thing with my husband and then my son who wants to be a priest is they just are so like straightforward focus that they don't even recognize that this is difficult for me and so you know and there are a lot of people that I'm close to that are like well is there another way you know but I don't know that there's anybody who sits here and like says to me I know this is hard and I support you on the you know path you know this difficult path you're going and I want to walk you you know walk down with there with you you know and be there for you you know when it's difficult and because you know I feel like I have you know people are trying to like pull me away and try to do opposite things or people are like no you need to just exactly just follow this path but not recognize you know I'm incredibly painful and difficult
to just mean to walk them to have and I think that's really maybe where some of this stuff really lies. Do you have a sense of what you think independent of what those people may say do you have a sense in your in yourself of what God wants you to do? I don't know sometimes I just keep wishing that like something crazy will happen and it'll never have to go through with all this like I'm like maybe if something will happen with my son and his girlfriend that they'll break up or she'll have a change of heart or something and then I won't even have to like actually that's honestly what I hope for right? I don't even have to go down you know. Jesus said something similar in the Garden of Gethsemane. Father if it's possible for this to cup for this cup to pass from me but not my will but thine be done. Even Jesus had a moment like that. Can we not have to do this? Yeah. Well I realize that your burden is heavy. I really do. I'm hopeful that our conversation has
helped a little bit maybe just to think through. I mean it does clarify that there's some I mean if anything it clarifies where my real struggles are lying you know so I don't know. Well we're here for you. I still kind of hope that the cup passes for me but maybe that's where right now that's where I'm at. We're here for you in prayer and I'm glad you called. I really am. Good morning Patrick. Thanks for taking my call. You're welcome. I am a big fan of yours and I'm looking at your book search and rescue which I find very helpful. Thank you. But I still need a little help. My brother is in failing health. He is 70 years old and been through a lot and he has we're both we're all race Catholic but he has not attended church for many many many many many years and I don't really know what his problem is but
I am trying to find a good a good way to reach his mind and help him to come back and I thought maybe you might have a quick answer. I have a thought. Now he's probably not in the frame of mind just sit down and read a book but what if you were to say can I pray with you? What do you think he would say? No. I'm not sure probably no but I'm willing to give it a try. Yeah so what you could do is so let's say your prediction is correct and he says no no I'm not interested in that okay ask him the next day and the next day and the next day and the next day and just at some point he's probably going to say okay maybe he'll be having a bad day or he's in a lot of pain or he's fearful and at some point when you say can I pray with you he'll say yes then I would pray the divine mercy
chocolate with him. You know the trifold brochure it's red and it's it's got the divine mercy chocolate in it all the prayers you're familiar with that. I'm not sure that I am not sure. Super easy super easy so you can go online and order a copy I mean it's peanuts or if you have a Catholic bookstore in your area they'll have copies maybe your parish will have a copy but I would say the trifold no no no no I was just describing its appearance it's the divine mercy chocolate. Okay okay right yeah I think I might have that okay I thought that was a special per all right okay. What form it takes is irrelevant it just that that's a common presentation of it and you can get the prayers offline or online if you want but my point is maybe if you just sit down with him can you see him in person? Yes he's a what's an hour away
and I will see him this weekend and I'm trying to see him more often now that his health is failing. That's good so what I would do is when you sit if when he says yes then I would set up a crucifix where he can see it in his chair or bed or wherever he happens to be and then you pray the divine mercy chocolate you can say I'd like to pray this with you and he may say well you go ahead and pray I don't I'm not gonna pray okay that's fine and then you pray the divine mercy chocolate but have a copy there for him and invite him to pray with you and I think that right there can be just what the doctor ordered. Well that sounds wonderful I've got it written down and I will definitely definitely work on that thank you Patrick very much. Good honest successions thank you very much. You're welcome and may God rain down blessings on your brother
so that his heart will be open to all that mercy and forgiveness and healing. Let's go to Bill now in Kentucky. Hi Bill welcome. Hey Patrick how are you? I'm doing okay thank you not too bad for his center as I like to say. I want to respectfully disagree with what you were saying about attending this event or that event. I think that you know whatever scripture you can quote or you know and I've never seen in the catechism where directly addresses this subject but you know Jesus teaches us the golden rule. We need to treat other people the way we want to be treated and we don't want to treat people the way that we don't want to be treated. So you know for example if you have a child that was baptized Catholic and but hasn't been
to church in 10 years and they found another church and they're getting married. You can go to that wedding from my point of view and not compromise your principles. You could say well I would prefer you were back in the Catholic church. I would prefer you got married in the Catholic church but I want to support you because I love you and at least you're getting married in a church or at least you're decided to worship Christ in some way and if you take this big stand like oh this is my Catholic belief I can't do that. If I did that I might be spoiling opportunity because it would just possibly put us in a bad light and put the faith in that light. I don't mind being
in bad light. Long as I'm not the direct cause of it but if somebody looks down on me because I wasn't willing to go long to get along I don't care personally. Now you and I are different in that regard perhaps I don't know but I don't care. It might hurt and I don't like to be hurt of course nobody does but the way I look at it and you already heard me discourse on this I don't need to go back through all of that is I don't want to be the cause of offending somebody unduly or unnecessarily but if I'm taking a stand for Jesus on something that's important and they don't like it I don't care and I don't care if they see me in a bad light. What I do care about is to the extent that I have the courage to do so is to know where my boundaries are and know what I could bend on if it's not going to be a real problem it's not going to cause scandal or anything like that. Sure I'm
willing to be flexible of course but on those things where I deem it necessary to be inflexible and somebody gets angry at me I don't care and maybe it's a temporal difference maybe it's a temperamental difference I don't know but go ahead bye. It's ethical. Yes sure. So if your if your son or daughter is getting made and it's not the place that you want it to be place you believe it should be according to your view of the Catholic purchase fanciness you would risk not having a relationship with that child for the rest of their life because you think that Jesus wants you to do that. If I believe that Jesus wants me to do something and I will of course ask him for the courage to be to have the fortitude to do what it is he's calling me to do then yes God first everything else is drained you from your own children.
Yeah you know Jesus had a teaching on that don't you or I hope you do Jesus said I've not come to bring peace but the sword I've come to bring division he doesn't want it to be that way but he says it often will be that way. Well you're taking that one you're taking that one bird. Well I'm not even done so before you can disagree with me to hear me out Jesus talks about how your own enemies sometimes will be in your own family and that you know parents against their children mother-in-law against their daughter-in-law daughter-in-law against their mother-in-law so he gives the scenario to say that sometimes if you take a stand the most vociferous foes you will have will be within your own family and you'll notice what he doesn't say is so therefore be sure to compromise so that everybody likes you or be sure to cave in when he gets really hot and heavy so that you don't have any rift in the family he doesn't say that. So you're for having a rift in the family? No not at all I would do anything I possibly could to avoid it but sometimes
you can't avoid it. Well about the golden rule I mean you're using that one scripture over and over about causing division as if that justifies. Well I'm only using it because Jesus I'm only using it because Jesus himself uses it as a teaching illustration of the very topic we're talking about okay let's talk about the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I would have I would rather people speak the truth to me than lie to me. I would rather that people show me that they love me by doing the right thing as opposed to compromising and doing the wrong thing. That's what I would want someone to do unto me and that's what I would seek to do unto other people to speak the truth in love with compassion but to speak the truth. Yeah and you can do that and speak but you can still attend whatever not compromise your position. So see you I look at it differently if that's how you feel that you can go along to get along I mean that's between you
and God all I can do is say in my own conscience if I feel that there's a choice and option a decision that would violate my conscience and cause me to compromise I'm going to ask God for the strength to not compromise. Well I don't know why you feel like you have to compromise in this case and you know just completely I've explained it about as many different ways as I possibly can so it must be my fault for not being clear. I disagree I disagree you're not you're not understanding what I'm saying. Really? So I'm sorry that you can't see that. Well what am I not understanding? It sounds like you said that it's okay to go to these things so that you have no rift in the family am I missing something? And and also it could be ruining the opportunity for the future. So what am I missing? I think I understand your point is there something else to it that I didn't catch?
Well I guess I'm not going to change my mind I just was wanting to voice my opinion and I appreciate it. Believe me I would not want you to go get your principles so say you had a child you got about eight kids we have eleven so one of them odds are might someday want to be in a marriage that you don't approve of so you would risk your relationship with that child because you feel like you need to impose your imperfection. No what I well you're mischaracterizing what I would what how I would say it I would say that if one of my children whom I raised in the faith to know the truth departed from the truth and wanted to enter into an invalid marriage I would not go to that because I would not want to give the impression that I approved of it and was celebrating something
that was objectively sinful and invalid and do you think you could do that without without causing a rift I mean probably not how would you do that probably not probably not I would speak the truth in love and if there were hurt feelings okay there were worse things than hurt feelings and God God willing there would be time to have a healing in the relationship at some point that often happens but yeah to answer a question directly if that were a situation I had to face up to I would ask God for the strength and the courage to to stand firm okay well I'm still not convinced okay but I respect your opinion and I know this is coming from a place where where where you believe it's correct but you know so you're faced with that situation I guess you may you may not know well I have been faced with similar situations not that
exact situation though so I mean your kids are going to be with you for the rest of your life and and wouldn't they wouldn't they rather that their father who taught them their Catholic faith and their father who taught them to be by God's grace to seek to be upright and to have integrity and to do the right thing even when the circumstances are difficult I personally think that the legacy I can leave for my children is to live up to that standard and that if I compromised and don't live up to that standard in other words to go along get along that I would be cheating them out of a legacy that they deserve from their father is there anywhere in the catechism where it tells people that we should not attend certain weddings, certain aptisms you know is there there's clear definitive teaching
that spells it all out in black and white yeah and I bet if you and I both were to dive into the catechism we could find some of those I don't have the paragraph number at my fingertips but um let me ask you this question if I were to quote to you a catechism paragraph would that change your mind no give me something to think about that's true because because you know quoting scripture there's interpreting there's a lot of different scriptures and you can come up with you know I just go back to the golden rule you know you don't want to treat people in a way that is the way that you wouldn't want to be treated in other words put yourself in the other persons to use no sure now I get it and I I did address that earlier when I said that I would rather that people speak the truth and love to me and not lie to me and not compromise simply because I want them to do something that they know is not right I wouldn't want anyone to do that therefore I wouldn't want to do that to them I would never ask you bill to compromise your conscience
just because it would make me feel better about you I'm not trying to make anybody feel better about me I don't want people to feel bad about what they're doing you know what if what they're doing is actually bad though and you just happen to be the guy saying you know what I can't go along with that I'm sorry I love you but I can't go along with that if they're the ones doing something that's bad shouldn't that shouldn't that be a cause for them to stop and think wait a minute maybe I shouldn't be doing this yeah if it's murder or you know something that obviously is is against you know the 10 commandments and so forth true but adultery is against the 10 commandments is the sixth commandment and Jesus says if a man divorces his wife and gets remarried he commits adultery so it's big and bad like those other ones it's it's up there with the bad ones so we more what about having to respect for other churches like going to that
baptism thing the kid you know the parents are gonna in there well I don't know they're in the Catholic view it's a rebaptism but what if their church doesn't believe that the Catholic baptism was valid well for the same reason that I don't care if the flat earth people believe the earth is flat I don't care because I know that the earth is not flat and they can be sincere and they can be nice people people I'd enjoy a backyard barbecue with but I don't respect that view even though I respect the person so I do respect the Protestant folk who are there doing what they think is right but I don't respect the error of their teaching I don't respect that and I don't want to be present at something that my my presence would give the impression that I did respect that or that I agreed with it or that at least I could condone it I don't want to do that yeah well I'm just thinking about that poor woman that is I was like she's about to be
widowed and she's worried about having people in her life namely her family so you know asking her or directing her to do something that's gonna potentially affect the rest of her life I just I just don't see how that's a good decision okay fair enough let's see old saying you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink I'm not here to force anybody to believe anything but I'm more than happy to defend my views on that I'm glad you gave me an opportunity to do that Bill all right thank you thank you I want to bless you I'll be right back with more right after this our show sponsor charity mobile is a nationwide pro-life cell phone provider that offers flip phones smart phones and the new wise phone or you can bring your own phone new customers can

let's go back to the phones uh let's go next to Sam waiting patiently in Minnesota Saint Paul Minnesota to be exact good morning Sam hey good morning Patrick yeah hi so I would like to know the difference between assumption and ascension like sure that's true that when a Mary assumes could it be said that she ascended or no Jesus ascended could it be assumed that he assumed or no what is different in the two words got it so the two are distinct and they have two different theological meanings so the ascension is that the Lord ascended to the Father to heaven under his own power you know Jesus said I have I have the power to lay my life down and take it up again so this is exactly what he did so after the resurrection 40 days after that he ascended to the Father in the case of the bless of Virgin Mary her bodily assumption was a precursor a foretaste of what is promised in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4
to all those who are blessed who are who are saved who on the last day when Jesus returns they will be bodily assumed into heaven as well so 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 talks about the bodily assumption of all those people who are alive at the last day who are on the way to heaven the bless of Virgin Mary was brought up to heaven she was assumed into heaven body and soul as a favor from God as a special grace and gift from God but the two are distinct theologically well yeah it just seems like they're the same action like Jesus went to the Father and Mary being assumed bodily to heaven it seems like it's the same action I suppose you could look at it that way but the motive impulse is different from one to the other in the case of Jesus he's the motive impulse he under his own power because he's God and man Mary is a creature so it was God's power not hers that drew her to heaven in the case of Jesus it
was his own power that did you see okay I see it's a subtle tea but it's an important subtle tea don't you think it is easy to miss well I'm glad you called and asked about that Sam thank you appreciate that we'll go to Bill now in Oklahoma hi Bill good morning before we get started we have to pay tribute to Cyrus do we as yes we do all right as you know Cyrus is rad he is rad he is so bad he is a great lad and he is a tremendous dad so I can't disagree Cyrus Cyrus I can't disagree with what the man said you know I think this is one of the traits of a really good producer keep the talent happy and that's it all good points Billy keep going yes sir
going keep going okay I have a comment I was hoping you could help me with Patrick I recently attended and this is not my normal peri sure anything but I recently attended an FSSP mass and I was very impressed with the reverence and the things that I remembered in the Catholic faith when I grew up of the kneeling at the rail to receive the Eucharist only altar boys not altar girls also the fact that when you received the Eucharist it was only by a priest not by Eucharistic ministers or even in some cases a deacon unless it is a deacon transitioning to the priesthood and I was just I was just really blown away with the reverence that I thought I did not remember as
well as I did and it was really it really hit home and I my question was you know I understand that a lot of these things changed after Vatican II and I the thought that I had was why did we do away with some of these things there's how about the mass the traditional mass for example well not just the Latin part but the other things that I witnessed that went on there that were so important in the Catholic faith and so spiritual and profound and you know just so reverent just the whole atmosphere and everything also the priest you know not facing the congregation as a shepherd leading everyone to Christ you know yeah I do would you like me to comment on those things Bill yeah I'm just like what happened why you know it just seems like we open the door now that I don't think we're ever going to be able to shut or change yeah well I was a kid when
these things changed so the the change from the traditional mode of the sacraments the mass and the other celebration of the sacraments changed in a significant way as far as the mass is concerned after Vatican II which called for this change and it was as I say I was a you know a child of you know seven years old when this happened so I have a child's memory of it but even my memory of it is that there was a lot of discombobulation there was a lot of destabilization in many parishes where a lot of things that were done in the name of Vatican II that really had nothing to do specifically with the document of Vatican II on the liturgy sacrosanum contilium sacrosanctum contilium a lot of things are done in the so-called spirit of Vatican II that were aberrant and harmful and in silly and frivolous and that became associated in the minds of many people in the parish as well this
is the new mass and felt banners and happy clappy and anything goes kind of thing and not that those things were called for by this document of Vatican II but that was the net result in many parishes so there was a stark difference between the masses that had been celebrated prior to that point and the mass as it was typically celebrated in parishes after that point and this is why the the FSSP you mentioned that you attended one of their masses this is one reason why it's so important for them to be present in the life of the church and that is to be a reminder and an opportunity for people who want to know the patrimony of the church they want to experience this traditional mass that is no longer the primary form of the mass in the church the new mass is but people have a right to know that and to experience it and so I'm glad I'm happy that the
fraternity of the society of Saint Peter that they are present and doing the work that they do there are other groups to the sovereign or the the precincts of Christ the king sovereign priest and a few others as well I think the FSSP might be the largest numerically of the groups I don't know but I'm glad you had a chance to experience that and my thinking is that that's the future and we've gone through some hiccups and some bumps and difficulties in recent years but I think things are going to smooth out going forward and although I don't in any way foresee that the new right of the mass will ever go away far from it I think it will remain the ascendant form of the mass but I do think that the rightful place and space and opportunity for the traditional mass will be made in due time it'll continue to expand in due time we'll see I may not live to see it
but that's what I that's what I predict though so God bless you and Cyrus is beaming at all of your kind words that you said about him I'd have to agree with all of them too I'll be back with our three right after this so all of you who are holding thank you for your patience I'm coming to you right after this you've got some great ideas Cyrus Cyrus you were right and I was wrong
