About this episode

In part one of this double episode, we talk with Martin Fischer, considered by many to be the founding father of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). He has for many years taught students at Stanford University and advised companies and practitioners within VDC-related fields.
Especially in the last ten to fifteen years, there has been a significant interest in VDC certification, where he personally has led courses all over the world. In recent years, the course has become so popular in Norway, among other places, that it has collaborated with local universities to bring forth previously certified industry professionals as mentors to train hundreds of industry professionals per cohort.
Martin reflects on the origins and history of VDC, current practices, and thoughts on the future. It's fascinating to hear that the ideas that started the field are still as relevant today, and that there is still enormous potential in the further development of the field in the future.
