At twelve years old, she already hated being alone in her father’s old house. Something about it had always felt unsettling, but one night while babysitting her younger siblings, that feeling became something much harder to dismiss.

Around 2:30 in the morning, she woke to footsteps outside the bedroom and watched someone she recognized moving repeatedly between the hallway and bathroom. Eventually, the figure stopped in the doorway and stared directly at her.
