Welcome to the Bourbon Daily, the podcast about everything Bourbon delivered to you every day of the week. Today on the show, we discuss how Bourbon has become so prevalent in so many facets of our existence we wonder where it may show up next. My name is Mespeca Sue, please join me in welcoming my co-host Steve Ackley as well as our special guest, Kathy Cool, Matt Wellgey, and Luke Catero. Hey gang, what's up? Hey everybody. Hello. So we are the Kathy's excited.

She's happened away. She's just a mosquito in here. Mosquito in here. I saw one get in the house the other day and I was like, oh no. It'll eventually show up. It's just, I got it and I didn't get it. It'll eventually get me and hopefully I get it before it gets me. Yeah, two mosquitoes, I am very juicy. So. There you go. I don't know. Okay, well. All right. All right. All right. Okay. It's like an eighth grade mentality here. Be very careful. How are you supposed to be careful? Yeah, these are these careful. I'm sure. You know, better a fucking, better mosquito. Today I had a snake trying to get into my house. So. Well, I had, and he was mean. He was all of eight inches long. He tried to come in through our garage door and so I was like, get out of here and I was kind of batting him away with my shoe. He started striking at me. Really?

Yeah. And I was like, what in the world? I was like, why? And he was not trying to leave. Right. And so I was like, what the fuck? And so I took my shoe off and I like, like, kind of tossed him away and he was actively trying to bite me. What type of snake was it? You know? I don't know. He was doing a lot of wiggling and whining. Like what color was he? What color was he? I don't know. He was eight inches long. So he was, I don't know. He didn't know. No color. He, you know, darker. I was assuming he was from the snake that I picked up. You know, I figured that. Yeah. I figured that snake. I think it looked the same as that snake that I picked up. Did he have markings or was just like dark? Yeah. Sort of. But kind of, but it wasn't a gardener snake. But it was, he was, fuck, he was feisty. You know what? This is the second one we found on in the distillery gift shop just the other day up by our ball of your own barrel. And we got him outside. And once again, I was like, try to move him. And I, I would have thought it was the same snake. He was so mean and same size. So there is some sort of rocking you.

There's some sort of snake nest around here. That's good though. Snakes are good. Yeah. You don't want them in your house. I don't want them in my house either. And I don't want them in my house either. And I don't want them in my jewelry. Outside is, yeah, you don't want them in the, you don't want them anywhere inside. Yeah, but I generally agree. But these ones are mean, man. Well, you know, it might have been a black snake as a juvenile. Probably worse than the adult. Those are some of the best snakes because they kill a ton of stuff. And they're also some of the meanest ones. They're not poisonous, but they harm me. They'll bite it. They'll bite the piss out of you. They come at you a big time. But they're harmless. I mean, not that getting hit is anything. Farmless. They won't kill you. They won't kill you. They will not say, well, they can't hurt you. They won't kill you. Yeah, interesting. All right, KK, you said there's something you want to talk about. What is that? Is there something that you looked forward to a lot? Really excited about it. And then when it finally happened, completely disappointed.

OK. Something you were excited about. I would not bring up a wife. It's not a place for that. Damn it. I'm going to. Now I got to think of rethink my answer now. So all right. Oh, boy. See what we got. Steve's getting beat again. Not going to go well for Steve. This is a really good question. I just need to get the lead. Do you want me to tell you mine first? Sure. I think so. I think so. OK. I had an opportunity to go to the Savannah bananas. OK. Did not like it at all. You didn't like Savannah bananas, huh? Nope. I thought for sure it was going to be so much fun. Maybe the speakers were too loud and I'm too old. But they never stopped playing music, even when playing baseball. Correct. They were too many things happening.

Too many skills. I'm not a baseball fan. And I expected baseball with like trick catches. Yeah. But they've got like a girl and a gown who twirls around and sings. Yes. Their cheerleaders are always cheering. And a lot of people loved it. They knew all the moves to all the little dances. But I didn't like I couldn't see baseball. OK. So I went to the Savannah bananas as well. I don't know if we went to the same one. Did you go last night? I was Friday night. Friday night. I got to go last night, which they brought out David Freese. Incredible moment if you're St. Louison, the local guy who did big. Yeah. Two huge hits in Game 6 of the World Series in 2011. MVP. So that was incredibly exciting. I liked it. I found it fun. They did play music the whole time, but that's OK. And they're trying to appeal to everybody. I get the princess thing because it's pretty much geared towards boys,

baseball. And they're doing trying to do something that appeals to everybody there, which is fun. And I like, I mean, I was a fan of the Harlem Globetrotters. To me, they're just the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball. It's the same type of thing. It's not really about the game. The game is really a backdrop to what they're doing. But I like seeing the guys. I can't believe some of the catches that they make, because they really have to do that. I mean, that's the thing. To bounce the balls flying up and some guy takes off his hat and catches in his hat or bounces it off his glove to the guy who's across the field. He catches it. I mean, that's some skill there that, you know, if you put a major league team in, I mean, like, hey, just do what they're doing. I don't know that they could do that. That's take some real work catching it behind their back, tossing it between their legs. I I liked it, but I get what you're saying. If you're looking for baseball, maybe my issue was there were way too many kids everywhere. Wow. It was incredibly crowded. My god. Yeah. It was sold out. So there are 50,000 people in there. It was horrific.

The number of people. 49,000 of them were children. We thought we'd get there everywhere. We don't go to the baseball games anymore. And so we thought, well, we'll go there and get some baseball food. Oh, shit. That was like 40 minutes in line just to get food. And everything was like that. All the stands. I mean, they sold so much. I mean, that has to be an incredible money making machine for sure. Insane. Insane. Yeah. Well, for me, KK, I was really looking forward to this restaurant. It's highly rated. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Locals loved it in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was off the beaten path. And it was just a tremendous lead down, actually. Yeah. Did you feel like you were wrong? Like I must have gotten a bad something or I'm sure it was just me. You know, I try to do my research on restaurants and look at the menus just to make sure there's

something that appeals to me. And there was. So I did my research, did that. The local guy we were going with, he says it's one of his go-to's. And did you have a good experience? He said he did. I thought it was just well-mean food. I just, you know, it was Asian food and high-end Asian food. So, yeah, I could go to my local Asian place here and not pay as much. And paying the price doesn't really bother me. But it's the expectations that it has to meet that standard. Right. Go. All right. All right. I'm going to go, the same thing as Luke. I got to go to LaBeck Finn, which used to be one of America's only five star restaurants. This is when I was a big time sales guy. And one of the top selling sales people in the country decided to take me and another associate.

There's no way our expense account would allow us to do that. By the way, the three of us go into that place. The bill was $4,500 for three of us for that, that even. So you know, just incredible. I found, and we had like the seven-course meal and then we were drinking Louis XIII, which is at that time, I don't know. But today, it's off the charts. It was $75 a poor when we were there. And this was 25 years ago or whatever. I don't even know what to be today. It would be a lot. It would be the 13th. So we were drinking that. That's what we drank all night. And then the food. But I just found I didn't like it. I'm just more of a regular restaurant type of guy that I am. First of all, the portions are very small. Seven-course meal is all just very small. And then they have this weird stuff. They had sweet breads, which is like pancreas. That's one of the courses they had squab pigeon. I'm paying $1,500 for this meal. And one of the courses is pigeoned. I mean, come on.

Definitely not my thing. It was, I was way out of my element. I didn't walk out of their field like that was a special evening that I wish the warden would have been there. We could have experienced that together. I would be like, I never want to do this again. That's what I felt like. It was crazy. And those guys end up going out and going to some strip clubs. I just was like, I'm done for the night. I was cheap, so I thought I'll just walk back to the hotel. I got lost downtown Philadelphia. And I realized I'm in a bad spot here. So I see a cab coming. I stand in the middle of the road like this and stuff that I had. I need to ride to this hotel. I was going to stand on the side and try to flag him. I was like, he's stopping. I'm getting in that cab. It was wild. It was a wild night. Too much Louis the 13th. So that was a disappointment for me. Five star restaurant. Matt, you got anything? Nothing too big. I've tried a few restaurants, a couple of new places and everyone else seems to love it.

And I'm just like, I don't really... Yeah. Somewhere... I tell you it's a disappointment. I will say that. There's nothing good. Somewhere in between the places that you were talking about. These fans in our group, there are people that will fight you about that to their death. And it's horrible. I don't understand how you can sit there and fight about how chilies is actually incredible. It is not... The only thing that I've had that's been good at chilies and this should be... I'm sure this is just enough frozen bag that they dethrough. Is their chicken tortilla soup? Yeah. I mean... And I guarantee that they don't... Like it's not mate. Like... And it just tastes like chicken tortilla soup. It doesn't taste... Like it's not great. It's not... Like... It's chicken tortilla soup. Yeah. I don't know. Look at some heat from this. Someone's gonna hear it and tempswiat or the modicose. There's fans of chilies. Justine. I don't know. I'm like... Linda likes chilies? Yeah.

They don't understand it. I don't get it. I've got to talk to that woman. I know. It feels like if you're in an airport and that's all they got fine. Then it's chilies. I get that. I don't understand ever going to a chilies when you have other restaurants available. I'm not sure how that happens. How you're like... Tonight's a chilies night. That would never happen. I just... I can't imagine. Back at anything that you've been to that's been disappointing. I've been just racking my brain and like... Not... I'm not really disappointed too often. I'm sure I am. But... The sort of thing. I haven't had a good one. Yeah, that pissed me off. But the rest of my food is really good. Oh, yeah. You said you were really looking forward to it because it was on the menu. Right. And it wasn't there. But I bet it would have been really good. Some sure. Had it been there.

Had it been there. Yeah. So... I don't know. I know I get to squint at things. But even when I go to new places and it doesn't... Maybe it doesn't look like... I'm expecting it to be fantastic. If it's brand new, I have a rule of... You need to give them grace for the first month or two. Because they're still figuring everything out. You know? Even when I got to this and it's like... They just opened it and it's like... Oh, it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. It's like... Well, they need to still get all their stuff figured out. Like a few pores were... I thought they were going to be really good. Like when I had... Like the double eagle very rare. I thought that was going to be exciting. Right. It wasn't. There's a lot of that kind of... Yeah, there's tons of whiskey that I've had that I was like... Oh, this is going to be amazing. And I'm like... This is boring, actually. Like there's nothing exciting about it. And that's a problem with a lot of whiskey these days. There's so many of them that it's like... Okay, yeah. It tastes like bourbon. Okay. Right. So what do you mean?

Yeah. I get that. So that's definitely a place for that kind of stuff. On that note, guess what gang? It's time to drink. What is everyone drinking? No Matt. So we may be playing with Adam for a little bit here. We'll see. We'll see what happens. We're going to have a KK go first. KK, what do you got there? I've got some remiss single barrel. Okay. Bourbon. Okay. Okay. That was solid. There was a lot of dancing going on there on the desk. And it worked out though. So Matt is starting all over. He's trying to reboot his computer and all kinds of stuff. So I don't know what to go on. So he'll probably miss the segment but be back later. All right. Luke, how about you? You know a friend of mine. What was that? That was back in getting up. And then I heard that squeaking noise. We need Tim to investigate that. I said, eh. I just asked. Right as her ass was going by the screen. Oh my God. I caught it. I caught walking. I knew it. I got caught in my own, my own pants.

I've got a bottle of Jackson purchase. Okay. Craig Bean, you know. Yeah, yeah. That's cool. Oh, that's our lead right there. That was beautiful. That was pretty okay. Yeah. You're going to have to be the PR. That was pretty good. So I haven't seen that stuff around. So that's crazy. Did you get that Kentucky look? Or did you get that in? Yeah. I'm a friend Jack Johnson. Oh, yeah. It's actually from Hickum. Okay. You went to go check on his farm down there. But he lives here in Santa Fe. And he stopped by the. The cool. Gotcha. Yeah. Yeah. That's on my to to try less. So yeah. Yeah. I'm on the lookout. So all right. Back a year next. I've got a nearly single barrel here that I don't know. Is there any whiskey in there? Oh, just barely. I was going to drink the rest of it. But I was like looking at this and like I don't remember where this bear like what actually.

Yeah, I do. I know exactly what this is. Because our hunting finish. I'm finished. Okay. I pulled the sticker off. Ah, look. And there's nothing there. So. I've got that. Colonel Steve's retirement point. Look at that. Yeah. This was curated by Justin Mays for me. Oh, nice. Nice. You did a good job. You did a good job. I actually own that shirt too. That's a real. That's my Florida shirt. All right. Let's see what you got here. I thought something good was going to happen, but not really. So Luke, you cleared it. Clearly, weren't that so. Here's the. Cheers to Luke. Here. Oh, and this is. This Jackson purpose is good. It's good stuff. Okay. Really good. Oh, really? Yeah. I got to try it then. You know, I get all the confidence in the world. It makes sense. He's making good whiskey. So. Should be. Should be fun. All right. We'll take a quick break. And then when we come back, we're going to be talking about. There's bourbon in a lot of things these days. You know, baked goods and barbecue sauce and all kinds of stuff.

Besides just being in our glass, what could we see it in next? We'll do that just a few. Okay. Let's talk about the people that make these shows happen. First up is the Staventhief Society. This is also Freddie Mills going underneath the aileus of Danny Canard. You can find me on Facebook at any time. Just look up Danny Canard, but I am Freddie Mills. Trust me. Welcome back to the bourbon daily. Today we're discussing what else can we put bourbon into? Yes, we are. So, I mean, I picked pop-tarts. Pop-tarts would be great.

Bourbon flavored pop-tart would be fantastic, actually. It's not all that different. They kind of got the brown sugar. They could kind of work on that a little bit. There wouldn't be a whole lot of change. You could put some vanilla in there, maybe a little caramel notes on one. Okay. All right. What do you got? Tarts. Stain. For wood. Stain? Yeah. Stain for wood. Bourbon. You think then the smell. Bourbon stain. Because it already stain wood. You mean meat. It stains my fingers already. It's the Rick House. Yeah. And then it just smells like the Rick House. So, bourbon into the stain. Have different colors of it. But actually have bourbon in the stain itself. All this extra bourbon just sitting around. Perfect. Why not? Yeah. Perfect. Then you just have a, you got a Rick House. Rick House. Or you have a house with smell like a Rick House. Yeah. And like locking it. It's like a scratch and sniff. Yeah. Better. I actually have a researchyness and put my KK

have a research on me. And the only guy I could come up with is a stationary paper that's sent it like bourbon. Okay. So your envelopes and your paper that Beckett would send. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Boom. And really there's a lot of one times where like there are some times where like you use like kind of a brownish kind of like colored paper anyways. Right. And it almost look like a bird. Like you could like paint on bourbon onto it almost as like a stain and then still right just fine and just look like antique paper. Yeah. Yeah. Parts. That'd be kind of cool for sure. I like it. I like that one. I think there should be bourbon flavored potato chips. And you could have a couple of ones too. You could have traditional bourbon. You could have like a smoky bourbon. I see that. Yeah. It feels like that. That would actually and they would go well with bourbon. I tend to like savoury better with you know bourbon anyway. That's why I think like bourbon goes good with ribeye.

We had that we did a show recently where they had this real super sweet drink going with the rib. I don't sweet and ribeye doesn't go together. I like savoury and ribeye for myself. So I feel like it would go good with those potato chips too. I think. Yeah. I heard potato chips on my list. Okay. Oh cool. What about salad dressing? Yeah. Ooh look a vinaigrette. Yeah. I think that would be really good. Yeah. You could all you know and you could use it not only just on salads but on like saying what yous and stuff like that too you know. I think I think that would work out. Dude and dude some mayonnaise already has a bourbon flavored mayonnaise. Oh really? Yeah. I've never seen it. I was going to say like barbecue sauce. There's like bourbon like brown sugar bourbon barbecue sauce is out there but I've never seen a mayo. No. Yeah. I had someone give me some mustard that they made with bourbon. I have not tasted it. We did. We did. We did. We did. We did a lot of stuff like that where people make things that give it to us and like.

I know. And like there's sometimes where it's the stuff is really really good. And then there's sometimes you're like. Hmm. Do I want to like well there's some as we're like do I want to taste that? Yeah. And then there's sometimes where you like you're like I'm not tasting that. Right. I'm going to say thank you. Right. You're evaluating the people. They're all there's. Yeah. It's really bourbon gift for you. Yeah. I made it between taking care of my eight dogs that live in the house. So I'm like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And they're like they're like cats eating off their fork and you're like. Often does a cat sit up there and he off the board. There's a cat going to like other utensils that you're. You know. I take a flyer on this. Dukes brown sugar bourbon mustard. It's only. And I'll be more back to you guys. Okay. Yeah. Let us know. Yeah. So it's a bourbon mustard.

Brown sugar bourbon mustard. Well, I'm actually. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah. That's going to be good. But that on my bra. Yeah. That's pretty good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That'd be really good on. Brought. Are there any like bourbon infused brats yet like like meet and feud like bourbon infused? No. But there are beer. Yeah. These beer bras are just be bourbon brats. Yeah. It should be a. It should be a Cincinnati thing. I feel like they make a lot of like you know a lot of. Sausages up and Cincinnati should have a bourbon sausage. Yeah. I hope they're listening. I know. Yeah. Absolutely. Hope someone's listening. Yeah. That's an opportunity right there for sure. Yeah. We're doing pretty good ideas. I know. I think we should be all receive a check from all the places that are going to be utilizing these ideas we're throwing out there. Yeah. So sorry about getting lost there. Did anybody talk about the world's perfect candy? M&Ms? No. It's funny. I'm writing all of these things down as if I'm going to be able to find them somewhere.

Yeah. M&Ms would be great. Yeah. Matt, we had a paint stain for wood that has bourbon in it. So then your house smells like a rick house. Oh. Okay. We had a stationary stationery. Yep. So that when you write, thank you notes. Oh, it's a good deal. And you came in when I was talking about the chips. I said potato chips. Yes. Yeah. Pop Tarts. Pop Tarts was in there too. Yeah. Pop Tarts should be. We've talked about that one before. That should definitely be on there. Yeah. Something. Well, I guess people have done that. So I was thinking some sort of topping for ice cream. But people have done that. I've seen some more looking at it. Yeah. The greater ice cream has done some stuff with like a new rip. Yeah. There's been ice creams for sure, which is a great idea. And I've tried some of those and I've liked the ones that I've tried. So yeah. My favorite has been greater, though. They're really good, huh?

Yeah. Great. There's ice cream. Yeah. They do a lot of really like, I like that they're a small place. So they just like just do whatever the hell they feel like. Like they did one with skyline chili. Yeah. Oh, God. I would eat that. Yeah. Well, I would. What do you mean skyline chili? I would totally. Yeah. But yeah, they just do all sorts of like weird stuff. I'm gonna say that over time. I'm gonna say that over time. And I went through the other day, Steve. You did, OK. I'll buy myself. No way. I thought this was the most fun. I was unprovoked. OK. And got the chicken bacon ranch wrap. Was it good? Oh, so their wraps are so good. OK. Yeah. Their wraps are actually like, they're like next level good. So if you go to skyline chili and you hate their chili because you're a normal human, you get wrapped just either wraps. They're so good. I haven't tried the Buffalo one yet. I want to try the Buffalo chicken. Buffalo. Oh, that's awesome. I love a good Buffalo chicken wrap. But this I had the chicken bacon ranch one and it was very, very good.

OK. OK. It was. Yeah. So I like their wraps there a lot. And I like a good wrap. Do not. Word of warning. Although I don't know why anyone would ever get this from this place. Do not ever get the wraps from Chick-fil-A. I never had it in my life. OK. Disgusting. Good to know. Yeah. We got a new good breakfast burrito place by us. If you like this. Oh. There's a good. It's right. It's like a little like a like local place that just like make like. New York or anywhere corporate anyways. Exactly. Good breakfast burritos. Oh my god. When I was working the oil field, there was this one place. It was just it was a. I want to say it was a camper and then they they put a car port in front of it and like. Sort of put walls on the car port. And this is the middle of winter in North Dakota. It's like negative 20 outside.

And you go to this place and it was the best breakfast burritos have ever had in my entire life. It was freezing in there. And the breakfast burritos were like so hot. They had the salsa. The homemade salsa was like sitting out like not outside. It was in the car port portion of this I guess restaurant. And it was like frozen. It was like icy because it was so cold in there. And it's like, well, I want salsa. And so you put this like icy salsa on top of your steaming hot burrito. Oh my god. Like that. There's something I was not disappointed in. Right. Right. That is like they were that those were the best breakfast burritos I've ever had in my life. Just on the side of the road in like the bum fuck nowhere in North Dakota in the middle of the oil field. Yeah. Golly. I love a really good breakfast burrito. I don't even get them anymore because I'm like, how do I, I can't be topped. Right. Yeah. You've reached the pinnacle. When you've reached the peak. Right. There's nowhere else to go but down. Yeah.

Oh, you need to come to New Mexico. I know. I would eat them there because I would imagine it would be really good there. But also you would never think that you'd eat your best best best breakfast burrito in North Dakota. You expected in Mexico. You'd be like, hey, butter game's got to be good. Oh, it's not going to make it. If you go to a place that's been in business in New Mexico for years, you'd like to know what they're doing. Fair point. I know. Yeah. What about, what about latte, a bourbon latte? Sure. Sure. I mean, like a bourbon cream latte. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. I mean, I think it's a great. That sounds great. What about in toothpaste? Can we have a toothpaste? Oh, there we go. A toothpaste. I think toothpaste would work. I think there's, I mean, you're already in the mouth. I'm already one of the leaders. You might have to do that. I have the largest independent mouthwash company in the US. So maybe I'll add a bourbon one to the mix. I might have to start screwing around with that. Just for fun. And see if I can come up with a good bourbon one.

I'm trying to avoid. We need to invest in it. Yeah. I've avoided alcohol in my mouthwash. And I only go back because it's bourbon. So we'll see. I'll start playing around with that a little bit. See what I can come up with. It's going to be fun. Anything else? I think there's a pretty comprehensive good list we got here. I think I think we did the show justice for sure. So very cool. I think we were going to have anything. I know. I didn't even consider anything until we got on the show. on the show. I didn't even read the notes until, you know, I would explain anything else. I looked at it, I was like, fuck, I was like, what the hell am I going to come up with? Luckily, I was staining early yesterday and so I was like, what are things? Oh, you had an idea. So there you go. There you go. Good stuff. All right. We'll wrap this one up. As we always do by talking about where people can find us. Matt, we'll start with you. Where can people find you? Yep, across all socials at Whiskey-Takila Friday's podcast. All right. KK. You can find me on Instagram at KKK Kastring. Luke, you'd find me
