Hey friends, welcome to the Marriage Minute on the Naked Marriage Podcast. Every Friday we bring you a quick shot of marriage wisdom to help you go into your weekend strong. But don't stop there. If you like what you're hearing today, you want to make sure that you join us Monday for the full episode. So let's dive in to today's Marriage Minute. Why rolling your eyes at your spouse is an accurate predictor of divorce. We got this from Dr. John Gottman, an amazing brilliant researcher on marriage. He has determined through his love lab, through watching couples interact, that couples who roll their eyes at each other have a very, very, it is a very accurate, high predictor of divorce. It's fascinating that our non-verbals are so powerful and what they communicate, how our spouse receives that communication, and what they predict. It's so true. I mean, we've even before we knew that stat from the Gottman's man, we've seen it. I mean, we've seen that because our body language, you know, says a lot about whether or not we love and respect our spouse. Because really, if you're rolling your eyes at your spouse with something they just said,

it shows what the Gottman's called contempt. Like you're just like, oh, here's, here he goes again, here she goes again, you know. And so we really have to watch where our thoughts go because before the eye rolls, there were probably negative thoughts that that person was feeding all day. You could say, well, gosh, David Nashley, my spouse is just so annoying. It's like they are the band of my existence. I would say bring that before the Lord. Say, Lord, help me. Help me to understand. What of this is me and my problem with how I see my spouse and what of this is actually something that needs to be addressed? Thank you all so much for listening to today's episode. We hope you join us this coming Monday. And for more on this ministry, you can always visit xomarriage.com. Thanks, friends. We'll see you soon.
