I want you to head over to inside Texas where you can get one dollar for one week

Then 50% off your first year the board was on fire last night Let's be in both ways. Yeah, a lot of people were trying to put out those own their own fires from their comments. Yeah, absolutely That was pretty wild. I made sure that I was responsible even in my criticism Even during the game. I think God I did that. All right, so first things first we'll move quick archmannings performance What are your thoughts? Let's go with you Eric first Yeah, I want to see the all 22 of which we haven't seen yet I did a rewatch of the second half obviously he had a very good fourth quarter 11-15 Yeah, he showed poise and the toughness and probably the mental toughness that he developed over the course of last year But something was off in that game, you know, there's a there's a number of times He's on and he's on a good timing on a bounce to get rid of the ball And there's nobody open or he's not seen it or he's not thrown it or whatever timing certainly seems off in the passing game I thought there were times that he was too too quick to move off progressions and you know They would come back from a TV break and they'd show an open receiver over the middle of field that he'd missed

He forced a throw to Mosley It looked like he was making up for missing Mosley on the previous play like he had it predetermined in his mind that he was gonna go there no matter what There was times he he self-sacked at least once maybe the other time too Other times you could have taken off and been more decisive as a runner So I thought he had a very if he game He didn't look to me like a guy that should be headed off to the NFL after this season But then he did make some plays in the second half or particularly the fourth corner and you're reminded that that guy He has the it factor. You just need to he just needs to have the consistent factor Yeah Court what are your thoughts because he gets hit out of bounds and then basically after that he goes sicko mode There's something where art where arch needs the ticking clock and the pressure of the moment And I wish he didn't always need that but it appears that he needs That Intensity to kind of activate at times Yeah, so we kind of joked about last night right he took that big hit and then after that He was like it's it's not too bad out here on the edges. Let me let me use my feet a little bit and see what happens

But now again I mean you got a credit the guy who obviously had some early struggles and again It's not just I mean it's a team game and part of me wonders if like he started to fill the jitters after he saw Where Ali Brown and Cam Coleman and things started to go against us and maybe that caused him to press a little bit there But yeah, that's what we wanted to see right like a comfortable arch You really didn't get that till late in the game and there's just something about the When Texas is going tempo and they're from behind You know he starts to look and feel pretty comfortable, but so yeah Creatures guys. I love to see the relationship before and within a mostly late in that game Obviously, it's a huge part of it, but uh, yeah, nothing really other than what Eric said Yeah, three quarters of like Fourth quarter of if you just watch the fourth quarter You're gonna be like hell yeah arch, but definitely a lot to clean up That's what was nice about this game is you get the win But also the film room is gonna be very brutal so they're gonna Yeah, we're gonna look like a lost I just wrote the good bad and ugly sort of article and every Every section looked like a win loss or tie. You know, that's like what the hell yeah, it was a super weird game All right, let's move to actually running back so

Relief tries to force it outside play one doesn't need to do that There's some yards on the inside something we talked about wrist text state fumbles it But I want to give credit to relic as the game went on towards the end there man He's running on the inside. He's running tough. He's getting north south. So he adapted that game He ultimately he had better average yards per carry than smothers to end the game If you watch the game you would not have felt like that so shout out to the bounce back He came back late in the game Smothers though even though the yards per carry weren't crazy I thought he had big big moments and he felt like someone you could rely on whenever things were getting a little bit shaky court Yeah, absolutely I mean again and talk about the yards he picked up after contact that were big But you know clearly Texas kind of worn down Ohio State And then fourth quarter and I felt like anything any time of Hollywood touchable I felt like it was a really productive carry But yeah, Relief I mean obviously there's you know a lot of people are knocking the screen game from sarco At the time, but I mean there's there's a lot of room there on that first nap if he came to the inside if he puts his foot down and does Get to the inside But yeah, dude got a credit him

He's he started to be a little bit more patient But the second he saw the hole his burst those areas first step was great And you know they were a really really good one two punched down the stretch it obviously You know got to give the line credit and and there but we'll get to that a little bit Yeah, I was gonna say Eric give me your thoughts on some others and then you can transition straight into offensive line You just feel comfortable when some others has the ball. I really like when the short yardage his decisive He can create a little bit when it's not blocked perfectly, but when it is blocked well. He maximizes the blocking Big fan him really had the faux pas at the end of the first half too when he should have gone out of boat When he shouldn't have got out of bounds, he should have fought for that first down So a couple gaps, but that guy runs hard. I'm tired of hearing about how small he is my wife actually said We finally got a Dylan sproles which you know props for trying daring sproles. She met but he runs with some pop offensive line, man That's a game ball game ball goes to that group Super happy for them. They you know, it felt like Texas was more successful running the ball And they actually were like you're talking about smothers average within anything right home about

But they were consistent It wasn't any boomer bust. It was this is where we talked about last week when they had you know If you take away that one run play, this is what they had you didn't have any big runs to take away And they still had a productive game. You just like the consistency of it You can build an offensive around that consistency and then everybody what I've been asked for years What are the what's the problem with Sark and the red zone and I always say it's the offensive line It's the offensive line and look what they did last night You know Sark or arch had perfect climbing on that throw to window And they punched in those both of those touchdowns from from some others were he the first one in particular was easy They put Jordan Coleman out there Where in number 99 the announcer said Richard Wesley who would chew Wesley would be huge if that was the case But Coleman just washed his guy out Um, and it was the offensive line in short yard. It was great I felt I felt supremely confident and then punching in that last touchdown to the point where I was wanting them to You know look for on some clock here Yeah, I was I never would have thought that was a world Last year to have never would have been a case right I said it way I said it in the post game

I was like if you had to write a script for redemption for Sark It's like okay, you have to score on an interior run in the red zone behind the offensive line Yeah, this is how you failed at this a thousand times like this is how you prove That you've got it back and they were able to do it offensive line. I thought look solid man arch had so much time now a lot of it too I need to see more of the all 22 for sure, but a lot of it. They're rushing three Right But still That didn't matter last year either and so in I noticed one play from I think it was Robertson He gets beat really bad like shoved back into arch And you know what he does he understands that the defensive tackle is way out over his keys So Robertson just drops and pulls him forward and makes him fall right there I was like there we go man like that's the stuff we didn't see last year They weren't when they would lose they would just lose they had no other answer So even on some sketchy ones they still did things that were smart to try to save arch Either Robertson or Shikorski had a great pull on that first mother's touchdown with the one where he just walked in off jackal

There was some good stuff going on. I'm really excited to watch y'all 22 How this is bizarre we're more excited to see all 22 of the offensive line than defensive one I know that's absolutely crazy So and then we can't get out of here without talking Some some tight in a wide receiver first let's talk wide receiver cam Coleman I think fanatic perspective said it best I saw that acme movie should go check it out. It's actually pretty funny But uh that looney tunes interception where we raise it up someone said if you scripted it in a movie you wouldn't be able to get it in 30 takes Uh, and I think that was true. So just strange things there Wingo on the huge drop just can't happen. I don't think we need to harp on I think everyone realizes that But Wingo does come back gets the touchdown later Coleman had this kind of workman like performance Which is pop up here you go He was really consistent made a huge fumble recovery Um, there was some yeah mostly had his faux pas too Uh, and you know luckily they didn't pay for it because cam showed good hustles Camp showed great hustle popping up off that interception too, man That's that's indicative of the guy that we were so excited about in camp where everybody we know that he can jump out of the building and all that

But his hustle I love that and that was now the game that game doesn't go to Texas as way if he doesn't recover that ball And it didn't look like he was gonna get that ball either and Wingo made the drop who's the first person that ran over to him was like a a you know stay that they have a good connection Coleman and Wingo So we talked those guys cord tell us about the arc of Emmett mostly throughout the game Yeah, I mean, it's pretty cool. Obviously a little bit later in that game And maybe a I predicted kind of going into it. I thought he'd be from the jump a big part of especially on third downs You saw what Eric saw earlier, you know, that he mentioned earlier is when you know, he forced one to Emmett after missing Emmett on a previous play and You know, I mean, it kind of went back away from him for quite a while after that But yeah, how about your main bishop getting in the game they take the deep post attempt and you get a PI out of that And maybe that kind of kickstart things there On that first Goren drive one thing I want to mention that we kind of didn't talk about with offense So there's a we have scoring drives at the dank 16 plays 15 plays 12 plays 13 plays Real quick you can start to see why Texas is kind of doing what they wanted

You know on the ground game and the fourth not detected Conomets away from the water sievers, but yeah, I mean, Bishop got to get a little credit credit there drawing a PI And I like that arch took a shot at him because right then in there Texas really hadn't figured much out in the passing game You know Eric mentioned the timing was off. It was definitely noticeable But yeah, I mean mostly they can play us down the stretch and got a got a let a kid Phillips said a lot of hustle on his Fumble World cover you too on the month pond, but yeah, I can call on Kate Phillips team players man doing what you got to do Yeah, was a Sanchez that ran with Bishop. I think it was Sanchez. I mean, Sanchez is a player dude a Player unfortunately he picked the wrong side, but he had some hits really good reps That's what happens whenever you can actually combine success rate and explosivity We had plenty of explosives not 80 yarders meaning like plus 16 or plus 12 rush If you combine those two things your offense looks great. You don't just have to settle for explosive So that's a huge factor Whenever we weren't doing like back breaking like dumb stuff the offense actually moved fine

Yeah, so big one two. Let's I'll give it to Eric tight end room I love that group. They are the hard hat group They play very hard now. They definitely had some struggles Winston's drops the and people won't believe me It's morning, but he has the best hands in that room So that that tells us it was just concentration issues, but he's got a cashable He looked like the tight ends last year where they you know They didn't belong out on the field Jordan Washington had drops like that. It's just you can't have that But he also had a huge third down conversion. I think it was third down Yeah, yeah, and then looking for it down He has a fourth down where arched through back across the field and found him And then another big pickup as well But he he any block well in the times that that I really isolated on him So he's a good player. He's got to get more consistent, but love Spencer Shannon as a blocker He is the underrated MVP right now Through two games. He had a good blocking game against Texas state Um, I loved his catch where he didn't he didn't look to step arm He looked to push the guy he was very he's a very physical player even after the catch

I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing out of Shannon. We got to figure out what's going on with Nick Townsend I saw Michael McCunley's get a couple of good blocks on some runs number 15 Need to drive back into tape and look at a little harder. There's gonna be there's gonna be some really fun film room The guys did a good job in a deep dive last week breaking down the Titans I think they're gonna be doing that again this week. Yeah overall the offense man without all the weirdness I thought Sark's game plan was good too. I was in arguments all in the half of like Sark can't call a game I was like the play calls have not been the issue Pier on there fans do oh my god. It was a rough night with fans and I understand there's normal fans that are gonna be frustrated and all that But guys were going just out of their head with emotion. They weren't I don't know what they were watching But it was I mean I get it. They were tough able to tough game to watch But blame and Sark for that first half. I mean goodness grace. Maybe the end of the first half dude the yards were there Like they were there and arch wasn't seeing it. I had no problem there like because he made a A pitch out to Wingo and it wasn't a good place like guys. There's gonna be two good bad plays You cannot write like that, but I thought Sark actually had a really good performance. I thought the execution

Yeah, what is it? So Sark's game play calls always gonna go be tied to arch's stat line probably Or maybe let's maybe it should be but arch left how many how many yards and points were on the field in that first The half with the the Coleman interception, which is really a Coleman interception not arch interception in the Wingo drop I mean Sark had some had points on the board man that game's entirely different Yeah, it's tough to apply context in real time But hopefully people are looking at it more realistically today I do wonder if you have to handle arch a little bit differently man It just doesn't it seems like when you're in hyper script with him It's just not there for whatever reason, but as soon as you're like hey go play football man He can do that so I wonder even coaching him how how you kind of handle that going forward Cuz he's yeah, he's a strange quarterback in that regard. He kind of needs the moment to be big So we'll see if you can handle that we're gonna talk defense up next but first it's here word from Academy I Turn every day spending into more fun earn unlimited two percent of rewards when you spend outside Academy my Academy rewards master card the official card of fun

The defense was the tail of two halves. That's for sure and the first half was pretty rough man Even though they really could have been up like damn near 35 So even when we kept it to like 20 at times. I thought that was a positive, but must have did some Balsy plate calls early on leaving Jeremiah Smith one-on-one free release against a safety Biles on the in his thing the slot breakout and stuff like that we we played man a couple times and we paid for it I was okay with mixing man in but some of those were like if man I don't know if we have it like that yet So first half didn't love the performance second half. I did particularly in the first half. It was not great was Run defense specifically on the interior air Yeah, well, I mean, I think the whole line struggled there their tight ends had a good blocking game too from what I saw They were getting push and the pile just kept moving for an extra two yards They got a lot of extra leaky yardage of Tackling could have been sounder. There was there was no pushback tackling everything was falling forward

Yeah, Alex January made a big play in the first half our call and heard that for us. Yeah, I'm the fourth down Yeah My my issues were probably more global There was no pass rush until the end of the first half. It seemed like we're you know, what's what are they doing? We didn't even know what they were really doing with calling Simmons at times There resulted in a you know, pretty good I think they got away from the run a little bit more. It seemed like they were having more success with the run Than the statistics showed and they got away from it for whatever reason. It was a weird game I need to go back and watch it Didn't see justice Terry right. I don't recall them being out there. So that's another thing to track down There's a weird game, and I last you actually played well. Do you know that Yeah, they they were blowing us off the ball I mean there were double teams where our tackles were ending up five yards and away And then linebackers too. They're still not like great at their fits They're kind of they're just the intentions not there yet with them And so they're having this thing where the running backs getting up on them and they're kind of like

Infall Not great run fits for sure. I can even see that from the broadcast. So a lot of struggles there any thoughts on the run game court Yeah, I was a little surprised by like kind of how much we were getting man handled I mean at you say five yards or a couple they were eight to ten yards Like I was never going to end But at the same time I just think Texas and most champ kind of had to feel get a feel for that game I definitely thought that Arthur Smith was a little bit ahead of coach champ early on And then like airs head kind of went away from the run a little bit They were being pretty aggressive on first downs. They're getting to the edges in their run game and then You know mixing that in with some play action and obviously had some man covers. You're there taking advantage of but I overall I liked mixing and matching Take a little bit longer than I thought it was kind of take for Texas to really get going in that but yeah I was more impressed with their backs and I thought I would be I mean Legend Bay is going to be a stud obviously. I thought Jackson. I don't know I'm curious on your thousand Bo Jackson area, but I thought he was going to be the best back on the field yesterday I thought he looked pretty good, but I was also really impressed with Hollywood. So

Yeah, well, you know, I think they came into this game Texas with sort of limited expectations of Bo Jackson and he he over delivered I think both over what they were expecting out of him It's just it's so weird it looked like they were controlling the game on the ground at times and they only finished with 95 yards I think and it's not like they sack really insane a lot to subtract those yardage They yardage I mean, I really need to rewatch that when to try to figure out oh how state seem to have a good game plan And I think they got away from the run too much I don't know it seemed uneven from Ryan Day 2 right because any could have been more aggressive in the second half And try to try to steal back momentum and then he didn't do that either I don't know the weird game. I know a lot of us the howl state fans are pretty frustrated this morning over it They're trying to figure it out too. I don't blame on that was a weird game. I would be kind of stunned and still processing too They were winning the coordinator battle on third downs to that was something where I was like I don't like that On the first in the first half. Well, yeah, they were they were had once a good calls dialed up And just weird coverage, you know, you got you got

Derek Williams is locked on Jeremiah Smith and and Derek can do that against most water severs in the country Look, that's not the one right there Cade Phillips was late. I know we have what gets we should say this for the secondary But we're just talking about that they had good play calls dialed up And then they had something that sanded and see fortunately Yeah, there was uh, yeah, that throwback sanded late biles left the tight end so to Cade over top and that was that was so lazy of him But also you can kind of understand it nobody there's no way that boss No one does that but the problem is we lost both of our guys that like Cade over top ran and then all of that Even though I liked what Cade did man if you if you rewatch he makes a lot of big hits And he's really active so he's fun to watch we can go into secondary Boom mask goes still in a nigma to me man So like to start gets juped on the perimeter Then he's one on one with Smith early on and he pulls up and just quits on the route before he knows that it's the plays over So I'm like, oh, what are you doing? And then later on in the game then he starts clamping Jeremiah Smith

So he he didn't I don't know If like I have to go back and look if like zone boars him But a lot of the ways when you tell him to match up in man He looks like a different player there too So I thought that was interesting kind of my thoughts on the corners there so far And once again shout out Cade on that month's point man that changes the game So he plays with a lot of effort. What do you think and Eric? Well, I love Cade Phillips. You mentioned in Devon Sanchez's study I think Texas has a player that approximates that ability in in Cade And that effort that hustle there's you know, they start mentioning that he showed the stylist bold in a phone Will recover against OU to sort of remind these guys to play hard He's got some recent examples of sticking with the player from last night too Cade's a good player Bo. Yeah, Bo was clamped later in the game You know a lot of people said that that Jeremiah you couldn't say anything good about Texas at one point last night So they said Jeremiah was just dropping it. No boat was right there Might have gotten away with a small PI. I'm not sure but He was very combative at the catchpoint

You know later in the game It was one in the end zone as well down on a fade. I think And then the one that would have converted a third down. So he had some very big plays too I'm still trying to figure out what you know We've heard really good things about Bo and they haven't always shown up But you can see it last night You know, we heard that he was the most combative guy against camcoman in practice and you can see why you can see signs of that last night Roberson still's not really sure 100% what's going on his leverages are weird on the corn like the the game since is not fully there for Roberson not Matt like it's not getting beat by Jeremiah Smith It's like how you get beat and there were just a couple times where he needed to Keep outside to move the ball back in and he would jump inside and then give the so roberson a great athlete But still not a hundred percent getting the nuances of the position Probably I don't know three or four times. I noticed Not being super sound there. Did you see that video? Start was like looking at roberson's general direction after that long completion That was like that looks like it might be ball game honestly

You're not a feeling like it because it all it was going to take was one more play from Ohio State to do it Fortunately, that wasn't it it did not appear. What'd you guys think of safety's coordinating things stick out there? Not too much. I need to see the all 22 more. I want to see exactly. I mean if y'all have insight Let me know on that the the skinny post of Jeremiah Smith for the touchdown Um, it looked like they caught the both guys were kind of hesitating. He's a You're right between Kobe and jelani. It was a nice ball by saying it was super accurate read But he just threaded the needle there and both of them I said they I get it you're like too safe. You're like Jeremiah Smith right between two safeties They're not gonna throw the football. Yeah, and then they did So these to me Kobe looks slow to get over there I but I I noticed that but I there's probably something like on jelani Could pick up to but but Kobe looks slow to get over on that. Yeah, so it's perfect Perfect t-shirt right for me and for good and batteries and she talked about the the hustle of Cade Phillips the physicality of Cade Phillips in this game You had both masks go turn to get on but then you also have some

You know some worn roberson moments where you know you have that that little bit of nothing Maybe it weren't late. Maybe it is doubted that Ohio State will attack them there But yeah, I mean there's a it's a mixed bag from what I saw but what want to get into the all 22 of course and Overall, I mean yeah, they felt like they played with a little bit more energy and urgency obviously late in the game So the whole team did Yeah, so here's the lesson man Truthfully isolating. It's like didn't love what I saw from the defense like the interior run secondary now That's Jeremiah Smith man like I'm not gonna be silly there But clearly we're not a hundred percent button down on defense yet So that's something I'm looking for because oh again this Ohio State win gives us breathing room That's absolutely wonderful this schedule's crazy man Hey, you know what I've flipped this game is if they had that typical First round draft pick as their second-wide receiver they you know They had two guys that basically called in sick yesterday as opposed to having carnal tape or a mecca of buka You know those other inness and McEwan I think they had three catches for basically nothing

I think they got so obsessed with Jeremiah Smith too that they could forsake the rest of the offense and like the full field attack So I think that in a weird way Smith going for a hundred and sixty five Yeah, kind of narrowed their vision you see that in basketball when one guy gets 40 and then they lose by 10 because nobody else is involved Yeah, and so it's like that's kind of what it was it seemed like they were trying to do everything with Smith And it and they didn't play a full offense. So that was important But hey, it's a long season man. That's what's beautiful. You get the win. You get the big moment for the fans But hey, we will lose games if we play like this Repeatedly man somebody will catch up even though Eric said it best we somehow played our C game against a higher state and one so that that was a very beautiful thing Everybody that was a really really fun episode I'm seized you can tell I'm still kind of trying to process what happened you can go over to inside Texas Take advantage of this special offer one dollar for one week and chat with all the fans over there And this was brought to you by Academy sports announced doors have a good Sunday.
