Sydney Scout: Community Organizer to Anchorage Assembly

Sydney Scout is running for Anchorage Assembly District 1C-B in North Anchorage. 13 years ago, as a teenager, she wrote her first letter to the editor supporting Judge Centan after a positive experience in his courtroom. Now, she's asking voters to support her in the same way. In January, Scout biked to the Mooney Elections Center with friends to file her paperwork. She's framing her campaign around that early lesson in community involvement and how local leaders shape lives. For over a decade, she's worked as a community organizer in Alaska and across the country. She's helped the lack candidates to state legislatures, city councils, school boards, and more while pushing for better worker protections, health care, access, paid leave, clean energy, and union contracts.
