It's like, I think I raised $1,051. Praise God. And if it stops there and I get no more donations, I think I'll just be fine with that, you know. I'm just happy that kind of almost basically paid for half the trip. So that's really cool. And that's amazing. The Edmonton Canada trip is paid for. And then, you know, a portion of the Puta Arena strip is paid for as well. So amazing. God is great.

They really assisted me and helped me out for doing the trip. And as you guys can tell, my voice is still messed up. It's been like literally three weeks. So I don't know if you guys could just bear with me. I'd really appreciate it. And I will just soon, my, you know, my voice will come back. It just sometimes, I don't know what's over the sickness, but it's lasted literally three weeks. So I haven't been like feverish or like super sick, but just my voice has been gone. And I still have a cough. So whatever it was, it just kind of took me out for a while. So it's all right. But anyways, let me just go ahead and pull up the first chronicles. 21, which we're on now. There we go. Perfect. And these chapters kind of go quite fast. So we'll probably end up going all the way to chapter 24 today. 21, 22, 23, 24 probably. We'll probably end up finishing 24. So let me just go ahead and pull up the teaching points

for this chapter, 21, perfect. I'm just going to go ahead and do an intro for first chronicles 21. Let me do that real quick. And it's pretty interesting the way it starts out too. I didn't even, I don't know if I saw this in first Kings, or second Kings, or first Kings about David. It's kind of interesting. But let me just, our second Samuel, sorry, second Samuel 24, I think, yeah. So second Samuel 24 when I read this, it doesn't say that now Satan stood up against Israel, which it starts out with. It actually says the anger of the Lord burned against Israel. So it's different. So that was the parallel passages, second Samuel 24. And I thought that was interesting. But let me just do the intro real quick and we'll get into that. So first Chronicles 21 tells the dramatic account of King David's decision to take a census of Israel and act considered sinful in the eyes of God.

This chapter narrates the punishment that followed David's disobedience, his profound repentance, and the subsequent divine forgiveness he received. It demonstrates the severe consequences of defying God's laws, but also his mercy upon genuine repentance. And like I said, the chapter 21 starts out. It says now Satan stood up against Israel and moved David to number Israel, okay? And then if you go to second Samuel 24, it actually starts out with the anger of the Lord burned against Israel. So it starts two different ways. So it highlights the spiritual warfare where Samuel stresses God's permissive sovereignty. And then let's go ahead and jump down on my teaching points and then I'll start reading, okay? So here we go. So I'm gonna read one through six and then I have some teaching points for the first verse. So it says now Satan stood up against Israel and moved David to number Israel.

So David said to Joab and the leaders of the people, go number Israel from Bershiba to Dan and bring the number to them. Bring the number to them to me that I may know, sorry, bring the number of them to me that I may know it. And Joab answered, may the Lord make his people a hundred times more than they are. But my Lord the King, are they not only my Lord servants? Why does my Lord require this thing? Why should he be a cause of guilt in Israel? It says nevertheless, the King's word prevailed against Joab. Therefore, Joab departed and went throughout all Israel and came to Jerusalem. Then Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to David. All Israel had one million, one hundred thousand men who drew the sword. And Judah had four hundred and seventy thousand men who drew the sword. But he did not count Levi and Benjamin among them for the King's word was abominable to Joab. So we'll stop there real quick at finishing verse six

and the temptation and sin of David, okay? So then Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel. That's 1 Chronicles 21 verse one. This verse reveals the spiritual battle behind David's decision, reminding us of the enemy's influence. Despite Joab's warning, David insists on numbering the people, demonstrating a lapse in trust in God's provision and protection. So it says the temptation and sin of David, the account of temptation and sin of David is significant narrative found in the Old Testament, specifically in 2 Samuel 11 and 12. This episode of King David's life serves as a profound lesson of the nature of sin and repentance and divine forgiveness. David, the second king of Israel, was a man of God's own heart. He was chosen by God to lead his people and had established a strong prosperous kingdom

despite his close relationship with God. David was not immune to temptation and sin. The account begins in 2 Samuel 11 verses one through two. During the springtime when kings typically went to war, however, David remained in Jerusalem while his army led by Joab besieged the M and I city of Rabah. One evening, David came across his bed, walked across the roof of his palace. So this is going to be talking about the Bathsheba sin. I'll see if it gets into the other part. It says overcome by lust. Oh, I'm sorry, it says one evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of his palace. From there, you saw a beautiful woman bathing. Her name was Bathsheba, his wife of Euryah, the Hittite, one of David's mighty men. Overcame by lust. David sent messengers to bring Bathsheba to him. He lay with her resulting in her becoming pregnant in an attempt to conceal his sin. David summoned Euryah from the battlefield, hoping he would go home and sleep with his wife.

That's providing a cover for the pregnancy. However, Euryah demonstrated loyalty and integrity refusing to enjoy the comforts of home while his fellow soldiers were in the field. Freshly did by Euryah's righteousness, David resorted to a more sinister plan. He instructed Joab to place Euryah in the front, the forefront of the fiercest battle and then withdrew, withdraw, leaving him exposed to the enemy. Euryah was killed as a result. After a period of mourning, David took Bathsheba as his wife and she bore him a son. David's actions displeased the Lord, Yahweh, and he sent the prophet Nathan to confront the king. Nathan told David a parable about a rich man who took a poor man's only lamb to prepare a meal for a traveler. David anchored by injustice to clear that a rich man deserved to die. Nathan revealed to David, you are that man. Nathan pronounced God's judgment. The sword would never depart from David's house. The calamity would arise within his own family. Furthermore, the child born to David and Bathsheba would die.

Sorry, let me turn my phone on silent nipologist. Upon hearing Nathan's rebuke, David confessed, I have sinned against the Lord Yahweh. Nathan assured David that the Lord Yahweh had taken away his sin and he would not die, but the consequence of his actions would still unfold. The child born to David and Bathsheba fell ill, died despite David's fasting and prayers. However, God showed mercy and grace to David and Bathsheba by blessing them with another son, Solomon, who will later become the king and build the temple of Jerusalem. The narrative of David's temptation and sin serves as a sobering reminder of the destructive power of sin and the importance of repentance that highlights God's justice in dealing with sin and his mercy and offering forgiveness to those who genuinely repent. David's life marked by both triumph and failure underscores the need for vigilance against temptation and the hope for redemption through God's grace. The reason why I bring this up is because David was a man after God's own heart, but he too dealt with temptation with Bathsheba,

which is the example I just gave you, and also Satan was able to tempt him. So even though he's a man after God's own heart, you see that he's still able to be tempted there. He's just like all of us are. And so Satan basically tempted him into doing this and he fell for it. So it's interesting, and he also was tempted into being with Bathsheba and also tempted into sending Euryah the Hittite to come back to try to get her pregnant and also sending him into battle and having him get murdered. It's basically, he kind of basically murdered him. If that makes sense. So the next one is the consequence of disobedience, which I'll get into after we read verse seven through, what do we read seven through 17? Give me one sec here. Let me get back to my teaching notes so I don't miss or I'm out.

So there we go. All right, so we're gonna go to verse seven now. It says, and God was displeased with this thing. Therefore he struck Israel. So David said to God, I have sinned greatly because I've done this thing, but now I pray take away the iniquity of your servant for I have done very foolishly. Then the Lord spoke to God, David seers saying, go until David's saying, thus says the Lord, I offer you three things. Choose one of them for yourself that I may do it to you. So God came to David and said to him, thus says the Lord Yahweh, choose yourself either three years of famine or three years of defeated, three months to be defeated by your foes with the sword of your enemies overtaking you or else three days the sword of the Lord, the plague and the land with the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the territory of Israel. Now consider what answer I should take back to him who sent me. And David said to God, I am in great distress. Please let me fall into the land,

fall into the hand of the Lord Yahweh for his mercies are very great, but do not let me fall into the hand of a man, a man. So the Lord sent a plague upon Israel in 70,000 men of Israel fell and God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord Yahweh looked and relented of the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying it, who was destroying it is enough. Now we're straining your hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebusite. And then we'll keep reading until we pass 17. Then David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven. Having in his hand drawn a sword stretch out over Jerusalem. So David and the elders clothed in sackcloth fell on their faces. And David said to God, was it not I who commanded the people to be numbered?

I am the one who has sinned and done evil indeed. But these sheep, what have they done? Let your hand, I pray, O Lord, my God against me and my Father's house, but not against your people that they should be plagued. All right, we'll stop there. President Barack Obama. David's decision displeases God leading to a severe plague upon Israel. That's in First Chronicles 21 verse seven and also 14. This underscores the seriousness of sin and its far reaching effects. David's acknowledgement of his sin and plea for mercy. First Chronicles 21, 8 and 17 highlight the importance of repentance. Let's check it out. The theme of disobedience and its consequences is a reoccurring motif throughout the Bible. Illustrated in the gravity of turning away from God's commandments and the inevitable repercussions that follow from the earliest chapters of Genesis to the prophetic warnings and teachings of the New Testament.

The Bible provides numerous examples and teachings of the outcomes of disobedience. Adam and Eve, Genesis three. The first act of disobedience in the Bible occurs in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve decision to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Despite God's explicit command, not to results in the fall of man. The immediate consequences include spiritual death, separation from God and the introduction of sin and suffering into the world. Number two, the Israelites and the wilderness and numbers 14. The Israelites refusal to enter the Promised Land. Despite God's promise and provision leads to a severe punishment. Their lack of faith and disobedience result in 40 years of wandering in the wilderness during which an entire generation perishes. Numbers 14, 33 through 34. Next is King Saul. In 1 Samuel 15, King Saul's disobedience and failing to completely destroy the Amalekites

as commanded by God leads to his rejection as king. Samuel confronts Saul, emphasizing that obedience is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15, 22 through 23. Prophetic warnings, the prophets freakily warn Israel and Judah about the consequences of disobedience. Their messages often include calls to repentance and the dire outcomes of ignoring God's laws. First one is Jeremiah 11 versus 10 through 11. Jeremiah warns of the disaster that will befall the people due to their persistent disobedience and idolatry. Next is Ezekiel 18 verse 30. Ezekiel calls the people to repentance, highlighting the personal responsibility each individual has for their actions. The New Testament continues to emphasize the consequence of disobedience, often contrasting it with the blessing of obedience and faith. Jesus' teachings, Matthew 7, 26 through 27. In the sermon of the Mount,

Jesus warns of the folly of hearing his words and not acting on them. He says, but everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built this house on sand. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house and fell, and great was it collapse. Was it's collapse? Paul's writings, Roman 623, the Apostle Paul, summarizes the ultimate consequence of sin for which is disobedience to God. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ, Jesus, our Lord. Hebrews 3, Hebrews 2, 2 through 3, the author of Hebrews warns against neglecting the salvation offered through Christ, emphasizing for severe consequence of disobedience. For it is a message spoken by angels was binding in every transgression and disobedience received is just punishment. How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?

Throughout scripture, the consequence of disobedience serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of adhering to God's commands and the blessings that come from living in life of faith and obedience. Both of those together are the main things, right? We need to do. Okay, let's go ahead and continue in verse 18. It says, therefore, the angel, the Lord commanded, God decided, David, that David should go and erect an altar to the Lord Yahweh on the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebysite. So David went up at the word of God, which he had spoken in the name of the Lord Yahweh. Now Ornan turned and saw the angel and his four sons who were with him hid themselves, but Ornan continued threshing wheat. So David came to Ornan and Ornan looked and saw David and he went from the threshing floor and bowed before David with his face to the ground. Then David said to Ornan, grant me the place of this threshing floor

that I may build an altar on it to the Lord Yahweh. You shall grant it to me at the full price with the plague, maybe withdrawn from the people. But Ornan said to David, take it yourself and let my Lord the King do what is good in his eyes. Look, I will also give you the oxen for burn offerings, the threshing implements for wood and the wheat, the grain offering, I give it all. Then King David said to Ornan, no, but I will surely buy it for the full price for I will not take that as what is yours for the Lord Yahweh. Nor offer burn offerings with that which cost me nothing. So David gave Ornan 600 checkers of gold by weight for the place and David built there an altar to the Lord Yahweh and burnt and offer burn offerings and peace offerings and called on the Lord Yahweh. And he answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burn offerings. So the Lord commanded the angel and he returned his sword to the sheath, to its sheath.

At that time when David saw the Lord Yahweh had answered him on the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebusite, he sacrificed there for the tabernacle of the Lord Yahweh and the altar of the burn offering which Moses had made in the wilderness were at the time at the high place in Ghibin. But David could not go before it to inquire for God for he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the Lord Yahweh. Very interesting there. So let me just go over one of my teaching points. It says God's mercy and provision. God offers David a choice of three punishments illustrating his justice and mercy. First Chronicles 21, 11 through 12. The plague is halted at the threshing floor at Irmanu where David builds an altar and offers sacrifices. The act of worship and obedience restores the relationship between God and his people, okay? So we could talk a little bit about the mercy of God.

So the mercy of God is a central theme throughout the Bible, reflecting his compassionate and forgiving nature. And the Old Testament, the Hebrew word often translated as mercy is chest. It's CHED, chaste. Maybe that's what it is, not chest, like chaste, which encompasses loving kindness, steadfast love, and covenant loyalty. God's mercy is evident from the earliest narratives that's seen in his dealings with Adam and Eve after the fall where he provides garments for them, Genesis 321, and promises a future redeemer, Genesis 315. The Psalms frequently celebrates God's mercy. Psalms 103 versus 8 through 12 declares. The Lord Yahweh is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding and loving devotion. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his loving devotion for those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far as he removed our transgressions from us. In the New Testament, God's mercy is supremely manifested in the person and the work of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul emphasizes this in Ephesians 2 versus 4 through 5, but because of his great love for us, God, who is rich and mercy, made us alive with Christ, even where we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace that you have been saved. The mercy of God is not only a past action, but a present reality. As believers are continually invited to approach, the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4 verse 16. Now let's talk a little bit more about the provision of God. God's provision is another testament to his character, demonstrating his care and faithfulness to his creation.

From the beginning, God provided for humanity's needs, placing Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden with everything necessary for life. Genesis 2 verses 8 through 9. After the fall, God's provision continued as seen as his care for Noah and his family during the flood. Genesis 6, chapter 6 through chapter 9. And his sustenance of the Israelites in the wilderness with mana and quail, Exodus 16. The provision of God is not limited to physical needs, but extends to spiritual and emotional sustenance. In the New Testament, Jesus teaches about God's provision in the sermon of the Mount, assuring his followers that their Heavenly Father knows their needs and he will provide for them. Matthew 6, 25 through 34, Jesus himself, as the ultimate provision, as he declares, I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me will never hunger, whoever believes in me will never thirst.

That's in John 6, verse 35. The Apostle Paul reiterates God's provision in Philippians 4 and 19 stating, and my God will supply all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. This promise encompasses not only material needs, but also the spiritual resources necessary for living a life pleasing to God. Throughout scripture, God's mercy and provision are intertwined, revealing a God who is both just and loving, who disciplines yet forgives, and who provides abundantly for his people. These attributes invite believers to trust in God's character and rely on his faithfulness in every circumstance. So that's the end of chapter 21. Like I said, it kinda is gonna go a little bit fast, but I'll go over a brief description of what we just read in chapter 21. So first Chronicles 21, verses 1 through 30,

details David's sinful senses prompted by Satan, which leads to a severe plague in his repentance. David chooses divine mercy over human judgment, stopping the destruction at Ornan's threshing floor, which he buys for a sacrificial altar, setting the future location for the temple. Key themes include danger of pride and the necessity of repentance in God's mercy, the sin of pride in verses 1 through 6. David's senses was a sinful act of self-reliance, trusting in military strength rather than God's power, even Joav, his commander, recognized this folly prompting warnings against the act, consequence and choice. In verses 7 through 13, David confesses his sin, but faces three options of punishment, choosing three days of plague, falling into the hands of the Lord Yahweh, to rely on divine mercy rather than human cruelty.

Intercession in verses 14 through 17, when David sees the angel destroying Jerusalem, he humbles himself and intercedes for his people, asking for the punishment to fall on himself rather than the people who were sheep, atonement and location. Following God's command, David purchases the threshing floor of Ornan to build an altar. He insists on paying the full price, declaring that he will not offer a sacrifice that costs him nothing, which stops the plague. This site becomes a permanent location for the temple. How interesting examples of repentance. It illustrates that even with severe, sorry, David confesses his sin, I'm sorry, my thing just jumped to the top. Example of repentance. It illustrates that even with severe consequences, heartfelt confession leads to God's mercy and a stop to judgment, sacrificial giving.

It is a foundational example of sacrificial worship. David refuses to offer to God what costs him nothing. Theology of intercession, David's act of standing in the gap as a leader protecting his people is a key lesson in spiritual leadership. So the account in 1st Chronicles 21 focuses heavily on the theological significance of the site, selection for the temple, whereas the parallel account in 2nd Seymour 24 is more focused on the political, historical and punitive aspects of David's sin. President Barack Obama. Virginia, we are counting on you. Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to raid the next election and wield unchecked power for two more years, but you can stop them. By voting yes, by April 21st. So now that we finished chapter 21, let's go ahead and go over some practical applications for the chapter. First one is guard against temptation. Be vigilant in recognizing the enemy's attempts to lead us astray and rely on God's strength to resist. Number two, trust in God's sovereignty. Avoid placing confidence in human resources or numbers,

instead trusting God's ability to provide and protect. Number three, repentance and restoration. When we sin, confess and seek God's forgiveness, knowing that He is faithful to restore us. And then number four, worship as a response to mercy. Let our gratitude for God's mercy lead us to worship and obedience, acknowledging His Lordship in our lives. And now let me just go over some additional scriptures that connect. Temptation in spiritual warfare. Ephesians six versus 11 through 12 put on the full armor of God so that you may make your stand against the devil's schemes. Number, the next one, number two is gonna be Romans six, 23 for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ. Jesus our Lord. Repentance had forgiveness. First John one verse nine, if we confess our sins,

He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And then worship and sacrifice Romans 12 verse one, therefore I urge you brothers on account of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Okay, so. There we go. So we are done with chapter 21. Let me just move down to chapter 22 and go over a quick introduction. First Chronicles 22 serves as a interesting transitional point in history of Israel, primarily focusing on King David's preparations for the construction of the temple. And this chapter, David makes vast arrangements to ensure that his son Solomon can fulfill the divine calling of building the temple after David's passing. Historical setting, the chapter falls late in David's reign

after the plague and the purchasing of Orman's threshing floor by concentrated on preparation rather than the construction of the writer highlights David's devotion without contradicting God's word for bidding him to build. Chronicles was compelled after the exile emphasizing temple preparation, reminding reminded post-exotic readers of their duty to rebuild and worship faithfully. Okay, let me just jump down on my teaching points real quick. Let me just have some, I keep on taking this honey. Thinking that it's working, but it's not feeling like it is. All right, there we go. And let's jump to, okay.

All right, so first Chronicles 22, I'll just go over verses one through five and then I'll, I have something on verse two. David prepares to build the temple. Verse one says, then David said, this is the house of the Lord Yahweh God and this is the altar of burn offering for Israel. So David commanded to gather the aliens who were in the land of Israel and he appointed maces to cut them hoon stones to build the house of God. And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the joints and bronze in abundance beyond measure and cedar trees in abundance for the sityans and those from Tyree brought much cedar wood to David. Now David said, Solomon, my son is young and inexperience and the house that to be built for the Lord Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent,

famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it. So David made abundant preparations before his death. Stop there real quick. So David's preparation. David takes significant steps to prepare for the construction of the temple, gathering materials and instructing Solomon. So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel and he appointed stone cutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God. In the new King James, it says, he appointed masons here in, I'm not sure which, let me see. Stone cutters. So in the new international version, it actually uses stone cutters. Here in the first Chronicles 22 and the new King James, it uses masons. Let me see what else they have. He assigned, okay, he assigned them the task of praying, finished stone.

So in the new living translation, it just says, so David gave orders to call together the foreigners living in Israel and he assigned them to us. He did, they just say, assign them. Stone cutters is using the English stone cutters, King James uses the word masons. That's very interesting. So David commanded to gather aliens who were in the land, so they input in masons. It masons using anywhere else. Most of the other Bibles use stone cutters. American standard versions as masons. I just think that's interesting because some people say that King James was a mason. So I don't know, that was kind of interesting to see that in his, in that text compared to stone cutters. I mean, I like the word stone cutters better to me. I think it's a lot better word to use. Well, let's look at what it says, David's preparation. David, the youngest son of Jesse, is one of the most prominent figures in the Bible, known for his role as a second king of Israel

and a man after God's own heart. As preparation for the significant role is marked by a series of divinely orchestrated events and personal experiences that shaped his character and leadership. I was gonna see if any of this talks about, yeah, so this whole teaching point doesn't really get it too much into the building of the temple. So we've kind of gone over a lot of this already. I don't wanna be just reading these teaching points if you've already heard that information. So I'll just go ahead and jump down and, so the next one's gonna be divine purpose. So, all right, so let me just start in verse six. Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for the Lord Yahweh, God of Israel. And David said to Solomon, my son, as for me, it was in mind to build a house to the name of the Lord Yahweh, my God, but the word of the Lord came to me

saying, you have shed much blood and have made great wars. You should not build a house for my name because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. Behold the sun shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. And I will give him rest from all of his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. He shall build a house for my name and he shall be my son and I will be his father and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever. Now my son may the Lord Yahweh be with you and may you prosper and build the house of the Lord Yahweh, your God. And he has said to you, only may the Lord Yahweh give you wisdom and understanding and give you charge concerning Israel that you may keep the law of the Lord Yahweh, your God. Then you will prosper. If you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments

with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel be strong and of good courage do not fear nor be dismayed. Indeed, I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord 100,000 talents of gold and one million talents of silver and bronze and iron beyond measure for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, you may add to them. Moreover, there are workmen with you in abundance, woodsmen, stone cutters and all types of skillful men of every kind of work of gold and silver and bronze and iron, there is no limit. Arise and begin working and the Lord Yahweh be with you. Let's stop there real quick at verse 16. So divine purpose, David acknowledges that Solomon is chosen by God to build the temple. He said to me, Solomon, your son is the one who will build my house and my courts, where I have chosen him to be my son and I will be his father.

That's in 1 Chronicles 22, verse 10. Divine purpose refers to the intentional and sovereign plan of God for creation, humanity and individual lives. It encompasses God's overarching will and specific intentions guiding the unfolding of history and personal destinies according to his perfect wisdom and love. The concept of divine purpose is rooted in belief that God is actively involved in the world and that his plans are ultimately for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. It states in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The act of creation is not random but intentional, reflecting God's sovereign will and purpose. Isaiah 45-18 further emphasizes,

Thus says the Lord Yahweh who created the heavens, He is God who formed the earth and made it. He established it. He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited. I am the Lord Yahweh and there is no other. So that's creation and sovereignty. Let's look up humanity's role. Humanity is created with a specific purpose in mind. Genesis 1-27-28 describes humans as made in the image of God. Tasked with stewardship over creation. So God created man as his own image and the image of God he created him. Male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground. Number three is redemption and salvation. The divine purpose is most clearly revealed in the plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1-9-10 states, and He has made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He proposed as Christ purposed in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to bring all things in heaven and on earth together in Christ. This purpose is further elaborated in John 3-16, which highlights God's love and the purpose of salvation. For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Individual calling. Each person is believed to have a unique role within God's divine purpose. Jeremiah 29-11 is often cited for this context. For I know the plans I have for you, declare the Lord Yahweh, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.

This verse underscores the personal nature of God's plan for individuals which are designed for their ultimate good and His glory. Number five, the church's mission. The church as the body of Christ plays a central role in God's divine purpose. The Great Commission in Matthew 28, 19-20 outlines the church's mission. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey that I have all that I have commanded you. And surely I will have you always, I will, sorry, surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. This mission reflects God's purpose for the church to spread the gospel and expand His kingdom. Theological implications, providing an assurance, belief in divine purpose provides assurance of God's providence and control over all circumstances.

That's in Romans 828. And then human responsibility, while God's purpose is sovereign, humans are called to respond in faith and obedience. Philippians 212-13 encourages believers to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, to will, and to act on behalf of His good purpose. Eternal perspective, understanding divine purpose encourages believers to maintain an eternal perspective, recognizing that earthly life is part of a larger divine narrative. In 2 Corinthians 4 verse 17-18, believers, reminds believers, for our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that is far beyond compassion, our comparison. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Conclusion, the concept of divine purpose is central to understanding the Christian faith,

providing a framework for interpreting God's actions in the world and the lives of individuals. It assures believers of God's sovereign control, invites them to participate in His redemptive plan, and encourages them to live with hope and purpose. Alright, so that's the conclusion there. Excuse me. And then encouragement and charge, David encourages Solomon to be strong and courageous, emphasizing reliance on, reliance on God. Now my son may the Lord Yahweh be with you, and you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God as he has spoken concerning you. 1 Chronicles 22 verse 11. So encouragement is a vital theme throughout the Bible, serving as a means to uplift, strengthen and motivate believers in their faith journey. The Scriptures provide numerous examples and teachings on the importance of encouragement both from God and among fellow believers.

I'm going to go through this because David was encouraging his son, so we need to understand the other parts of the Bible that had encouragement. And the Old Testament encouragement is often seen in the context of God's promises and His faithfulness. For instance, in Deuteronomy 31 verse 6, Moses exhorts the Israelites saying, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified at the fight of them for the Lord Yahweh that God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you the assurance of God's presence and support his foundational source of encouragement for God's people. The New Testament further emphasizes the role of encouragement within the Christian community. The Apostle Paul frequently writes about the importance of building one another up. And first, that's only in 5 verse 11, he instructs, therefore encourage and build one another up just as you are already doing. This call to mutual encouragement is a reflection of love and unity that should characterize the body of Christ.

Barnabas, whose name means son of encouragement, is a notable figure in the early church known for his encouraging spirit. In Acts 11 verse 23-24, Barnabas describes as a good man full of the Holy Spirit and faith who encourages the believers in Antioch to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. And then charge. The concept of charge in the Bible often involves a solemn command or commission given by God or his representatives to individuals or groups. This charge is typically accompanied by a sense of responsibility and accountability for fulfilled God's purposes. Okay, so that's an encouragement in charges. And then I'm going to go ahead and read 17 through 19 and then I'll read this provision and planning part. President Barack Obama. Virginia, we are counting on you. Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to raid the next election and wield unchecked power for two more years. But you can stop them by voting yes by April 21st.

In verse 17, it says, David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son saying, is it not the Lord your God with you? And has he not given you rest on every side for he has given the inhabitants of the land into your hand?

And the land is subdued before the Lord Yahweh and before his people. Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord Yahweh your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord Yahweh God to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord Yahweh and the holy articles of God and to the house that is to be built for the name of Lord Yahweh. All right. All right. Good stuff. David meticulously plans and provides resources for the temple. This is provision and planning here demonstrating the importance of preparation and fulfilling God's plans. Now behold, with great effort, I have provided for the house of the Lord Yahweh a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver and bronze and iron to great to be weighed. So provision and planning are integral themes throughout the Bible, reflecting God's sovereignty, wisdom and care for his creation.

These concepts are interwoven with the principles of faith, stewardship and obedience to God's will. And for provision, the Bible constantly portrays God as the ultimate provider. From the very beginning, God provided for Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, supplying all their needs. And the Old Testament, God's provision is evident in the account of the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness. God provided mana from heaven and water from Iraq to sustain them. That's an Exodus 16 4 and then also chapter 17 verse 6. This miraculous provision underscores God's faithfulness and his ability to meet the needs of his people in seemingly impossible situations. The Psalms frequently celebrates God's provision in Psalms 23 verse 1. Declares the Lord Yahweh is my shepherd, I shall not want. This imagery of God as a shepherd highlights his role as a provider who ensures that his flock lacks nothing. Similarly, in Psalms 34 verse 10 states,

the young lions may lack and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord Yahweh lack no good thing. In the New Testament, Jesus teaches about God's provisions in the sermon of the Mount. He encourages his followers not to worry about the material needs, assuring them that their heavenly Father knows what they need and will provide for them. Matthew 6, 25 through 33, Jesus himself exemplifies divine provision through the feeding of the 5,000 where he multiplied loaves and fish to feed in multitude. Planning, while God is the ultimate provider, the Bible also emphasizes the importance of human planning and stewardship. Planning is seen as a wise and prudent practice, reflecting God's order and wisdom. The Brook of Proverbs offers numerous insights into the value of planning. Proverbs 21 5 states, The plans are diligent, bring plenty, as surely as haste leads to poverty.

This first highlights the benefits of careful planning and diligence, contrasting it with the pitfalls of rash decisions. In the New Testament, Jesus speaks about the importance of counting the cost and planning wisely. Luke 14, 28 to 30, he says, Which of you wishing to build a tower does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it? This teaching underscores the necessity of foresight and preparation and undertaking any significant endeavor. The Apostle Paul exemplifies planning in his ministry. He strategically planned his mission journeys seeking to spread the gospel effectively across different regions. Acts 16, 6 to 10, his letters often reflect careful thought and planning and addressing the needs and challenges of the early churches. Interplay of provision and planning. The Bible presents a balanced view of provision and planning where human responsibility and divine sovereignty coexist.

Believers are encouraged to trust in God's provision while also exercising wisdom and diligence in their planning. James 4, 13 through 15 offers their perspective on this balance. Come now, you who say today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city spend a year there, carry on business and make a profit. You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a miss that appears for a little while and then vanishes and said you ought to say at the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that. Excuse me. This passage reminds believers to submit their plans to God's will. And acknowledging his ultimate control over their lives and summary provision and planning are complementary themes in the Bible. God's provisions assure believers of his care and faithfulness while planning reflects human responsibility and stewardship.

Together they encourage a life of faith, wisdom and dependence on God. There we go. So we went ahead and finished chapter 22. Like I said, we kind of move a little bit fast through these chapters because there's not like paragraphs. These are like pretty much you want to read the full on the full on chapter. I only stop at certain points because I have teaching points for each section. Let's go over a detailed description of what we just read. First Chronicles 22 verses 1 through 19 details King Solomon King Solomon sorry details King David's preparation for building the temple accepting that his son Solomon, a man of peace is chosen for the task, not himself. David gathers vast materials and labor encouraged in Solomon to be strong and courageous in fulfilling this divine project, ensuring the sanctuary is built for God. Preparation and service. Though forbidden from building the temple due to his role as a warrior, David ensures the works that seeds by preparing resources, labor and materials beforehand.

Passing the torch, David commissioned Solomon to build the exceedingly magnificent temple, setting his son up for success despite his youth. Peace and obedience, the temple is meant to be built by a man of rest Solomon who can focus on obedient fellowship with God. The chosen site, David identifies Ornan's threshold floor as the location for the temple, a site associated with the Toneman. First Chronicles 22 verse 19, key verse. Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God, arise therefore and build you the sanctuary. This is used as a charge for devotion in work and seeking God, supporting God's work. The passage is a model for leaving a legacy, preparing for the next generation and dedicating resources to spiritual purposes, encouragement.

The charge to be strong and courageous is applied to pursuing challenging God ordained tasks. The climax of the chapter is David's exhortation to the leaders. Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God, arise therefore and build you the sanctuary of the Lord God. That's a first Chronicles 22 verse 19. There we go. Excuse me. So let's go over some practical applications for the chapter. Perfect. All right. And this one is also, yeah, just read straight through the same way. All right. So practical applications. We have a legacy building. Consider what legacy you are leaving for future generations. How can you prepare and provide for the continuation of God's work? Encouragement and leadership is the next one like David. Encourage and equip those who will carry the work after you.

Offer guidance and support to emerging leaders. Number three. Reliance on God. Trusting God's plan and purposes even when you may not see the completion of the work yourself. Number four. Preparation and diligence. Be diligent in your preparations for any task God has set before you. And you have the necessary resources and plans in place. All right. So now let's go ahead and check out some connections to additional scriptures. We have proverbs 16 verse three. Commit your works to the Lord Yahweh and your plans will be achieved. Then we have Philippians 1 verse 6. Being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Then we have Hebrews 11 verse 1. Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.

Perfect. So now let's go ahead and go to oops. First Chronicles 23. Let's go ahead and check out the brief introduction. It says that chapter 23 of first Chronicles presents a pivotal moment in Israel's history. King David in the twilight of his reign makes the final arrangements for the management of the temple which is to be built by his son Solomon. He organizes the Levites defining their roles and responsibilities and unaligns the importance of sacred duties in the service of God. Historical setting God's final public acts immense a peaceful transfer to power see first kings one. And verse two or chapter one and chapter two by organizing the Levites before construction begins he builds a framework Solomon can immediately activate.

Three Levitical Clans Jericites tended curtains and fabrics in the Tabernacle and numbers three verse 25 through 26. The Coahithites once carried the sacred furniture numbers four verse four numbers four four through 15 with the arc soon to rest permanently their focus shifts to teaching and judging. The Mererites and Hall heavy boards and pillars the temple architecture turned them into skilled manufacturers of gates storm rooms and structure repairs. Why the 24,000 workers the division of 24 pattern anticipates the 24 priestly courses set later in first chronicles 24 the number allowed a rotating schedule roughly 1000 Levites serving per month keeping worship constant. Yet never overbearing any family age requirement was also adjusted in this chapter.

It says Moses fixed service between 30 and 50 after wilderness wandering responsibilities shifted from a nomadic calling to settled ministry dropping the minimum age to 20. Doubling double the available workforce ideal for sprawling temple complex compare Ezra three first eight or 20 is again the standard for ex out. Also, there's music and worship that that comes together David himself crafted many instruments. Psalms. Supercriptions link. Him to temple music. Psalms chapter four chapter five chapter six chapter eight. The 4,000 singers and players would supply continuous praise echoing Psalms 92 verse two. Gatekeepers and security. Jerusalem's Holy Hill needed protection and order gatekeepers required entry. So you know what I'm kind of going through just some of the archaeological stuff and kind of the history of this but we're going to jump into the chapter so I don't give away too much but okay so right here and.

I got my teacher points up weren't first chronicles 23 I'm going to take another drink sorry guys I'm drinking so much water but I keep getting to a point where my voice starts going out. There we go. All right first chronicles 23 the division of the Levites. President Barack Obama Virginia we are counting on you Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to raid the next election and wield unchecked power for two more years but you can stop them by voting yes by April 21st. So when David was old and full of days he made his son Solomon King over Israel and he gathered together all the leaders of Israel with the priest and the Levites now the Levites were numbered from age of 30 years and above and the number of individual males was 38,000 of these 24,000 were to look after the work of the House of the Lord Yahweh. 6,000 were officers and judges 4,000 were gatekeepers and 4,000 praise the Lord with musical instruments which I made said David for giving praise. We'll stop right there.

So we have a it says David's leadership and vision David and his old age appoints Solomon as King and organizes the Levites for temple service demonstrating foresight and the dedication to God's house. Military strategy vision for worship in the temple so David's vision extended beyond military conquest is my teaching points guys. David's vision extended beyond military conquest to the spiritual life of Israel. He had a profound desire to build the temple for the Lord Yahweh place where God's presence could dwell among his people. Although God did not permit David to construct the temple, he honored David's vision by allowing his son Solomon to fulfill his dream. In 1 Chronicles 28 verses 2 through 3 David expresses his heart, then King David rose to his feet and said listen to me my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place for rest for the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord Yahweh for this footstool of our God.

So I made preparations to build it but God said to me, you are not to build a house for my name because you are a man of war and have shed blood. David's preparation for the temple included gathering materials and organizing the Levites demonstrated his commitment to worship and his vision for centralized place of worship. So legacy of leadership, David's leadership and vision left an indeniable mark on Israel's history. He established a dynasty that would ultimately lead to the birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who is often referred to as the son of David. David's life and leadership continue to serve as a model of faith, courage and devotion to God's inspiring leaders throughout the ages to seek God's guidance and pursue his purpose with unwavering commitment. Let's go back. And then also in verses three through five, it says the Levites age 30 and above are counted in the scientific duties related to the temple, emphasizing the importance of service and responsibility and worship.

And we'll look a little deeper into the role of Levites. I think I've gone over this before but just in case anybody's new, the Levites hold a significant position within the biblical narrative serving as a distinct tribe set apart for specific religious duties and responsibilities. Their role is intricately tied to the worship and service of Yahweh, the God of Israel and is foundational to the religious life of the Israelite community. The Levites are descendants of Levi, one of the twelve sons of Jacob. Their selection for religious services rooted in a divine mandate. In the aftermath of the golden calf incident, the Levites distinguished themselves by the loyalty to God, which led to their consecration for service, Exodus 32, 26 through 29. The tribe of Levi was chosen by God to serve in the Tabernacle and later the temple in place of the firstborn of Israel who were originally consecrated to God, numbers three verses twelve through 13.

The primary role of the Levites was to assist the priests who were also Levites but specifically from the line of Aaron in the service of the Tabernacle and later the temple. Their duties included the care and transportation of the Tabernacle and its furnishings during the Israelites wilderness wanderings. They were responsible for the maintenance of the sanctuary, the preparation of offerings and the performance of various rituals and ceremonies. This can be found in first, sorry, at numbers one, 50 through 53. So chapter 53, chapter 53. The Levites also played a crucial role in teaching and interpreting the law. They were tasked with instructing the people of Israel and statutes and commandments of God, Deuteronomy 33 verse 10. The educational role extended to serving as judge and officials helping to administer justice and maintain order within the community, Deuteronomy 17 verses 9 through 12.

Inheritance and provision, unlike the other tribes of Israel, the Levites did not receive a territory on heredence in the Promised Land instead. The inheritance was the Lord Himself and they were provided through the tithes and offerings of the people. The Levites were given cities to dwell in along with surrounding pastoral lands for their livestock. President Barack Obama. Virginia, we are counting on you. They were involved in musical aspects of worship serving as singers and musicians in the temple. King David organized the Levites into division for the purpose, establishing a traditional musical worship that continued throughout the history of Israel. The Levites symbolized dedication and service to God. Their lives were wholly devoted to the service of the Lord and His people setting an example of faithfulness and obedience. The Levites' role underscores the importance of worship, teaching, and community service in the life of God's people.

What's the New Testament perspective on the Levites? In the New Testament, the concept of a priesthood of all believers emerges where all Christians are called to serve God and one another. 1 Peter 2 verse 9. However, the historical role of the Levites provides a foundation for understanding the nature of the service and dedication that God, which continues to be a vital aspect of Christian life and ministry today. Perfect. Alright, 1 Chronicles 23, 6 to 32, which we're going to read now. Alright, we're going to read verses 6 to 32 now. Excuse me. Also, David separated them into divisions among the sons of Levi. Gershon, Kohath, and Murari. Of the Gershonites, Le Dan and Shemaah, the sons of Le Dan, the first Jehiel, then Zethem, and Joel, three and all.

The sons of Shemaah, Shalomath, Hazil, and Haran, three and all. There were the heads of the father's house of Le Dan and the sons of Shemaah, Jehath, Zina, Jew, Jehush, and Baraya. There were four sons of Shemaah, Jehath, the first and Ziza, the second, but Jehush and Baraya did not have many sons. Therefore, they were assigned as one's father's house. And the sons of Kohath, Amram, is Har, Hebron, and Uzil, or in all, the sons of Amram, Aaron, and Moses. Ah, sorry, I dropped my tapstick. Ah, okay, where was that? The sons of Amram, Aaron, and Moses, and Aaron was set apart.

He and his sons forever, that he should sanctify the most holy things to burn incense before the Lord, to minister to him, and to give the blessings in his name forever. Now, the sons of Moses, the man of God, were reckoned to the tribe of Levi. The sons of Moses were Gershon and Eliezer. Of the sons of Gershon, Shabul was first of the descendants of Eliezer. Rahabia was the first, and Eliezer had no other sons. But the sons of Rabaya were very many. Of the sons of Ishar, Shalom Mith was the first. Of the sons of Hebron, Jehriah was the first. Amaraya, the second. Jehazeel III, and Jekameem IV. Of the sons of Uzil, Micah was the first, and Jess Shia was the second. The sons of Amaraya were Mali and Mushi. The sons of Mali were Eliezer and Kish.

And Eliezer died and had no sons, but only daughters. And their brother and the sons of Kish took them as wives. The sons of Mushi were Mali, Eder, and Jeremoth, three and all. These were the sons of Levi by their father's houses. The heads of the father's houses, as they were continued individually, are counted individually by the number of their names, who did the work of the service of the house of the Lord Yahweh. From the age of 20 years and above, for David said, the Lord Yahweh of Israel has given rest to his people that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever, and also to the Levites. They shall no longer carry the tabernacle of any of the article for its service. By the last words of David and the Levites were numbered from the 20 years old and above, because their duty was to help the sons of Aaron in the service of the house of the Lord Yahweh. In the courts and in the chambers,

and the purifying of all holy things in the work of the service of the house of God, both with the showbred and the fine flower for the grain offering with the unleavened cakes and what is baked in the pan and what is mixed with all the kinds of measures and sizes, to stand every morning to think and praise the Lord Yahweh. And likewise, at the evening, and at every presentation of burnt offering to the Lord Yahweh, on the Sabbath, Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts by number according to the ordinance governing them, regularly before the Lord, regularly before the Lord Yahweh, that they should attend to the needs of the tabernacle of meeting, and the needs of the holy place, and the needs of the Son of Aaron, their brethren and the work of the house of the Lord Yahweh. All right, so we finished chapter 23. Let me just check my teaching points.

See if I have anything to go over. Deuties and divisions. The chapter details the division of the Levites and their various roles, including assisting the priests maintaining the temple and leading in worship, highlighting the need for order and specialization in ministry. In the biblical account, in the biblical context, of duties and divisions are integral to understanding the organization, and functioning of religious and social and familial structures as ordained by God. These concepts are particularly evident in the Old Testament where God provides specific instructions for the roles, and responsibilities for various groups and individuals within the Israelite community. Priestly, duties and divisions. The priesthood established through Aaron and his descendants is a primary example of divinely ordained duties and divisions. The book of Leviticus outlines the responsibilities of the priests, including offering sacrifices,

maintaining the sanctuary and teaching the Israelites, God's laws. In Leviticus chapter 10 verse 11, God commands Aaron and his sons to teach the Israelites all the statues that the Lord Yahweh has given them through Moses. The division of priestly duties is further detailed in 1 Chronicles 24, where King David organizes the descendants of Aaron into 24 divisions to ensure the orderly conduct of temple services. Each division was responsible for ministering in the temple and appointed times as described in 1 Chronicles 24 verse 19, which we're going to go over the next chapter here. The biblical duties and divisions, beyond the priests, the Leviticus also had specific duties and divisions, the Levites were set apart to assist the priests and perform various tax-related tasks related to the temple, the tabernacle, and later the temple. Numbers 4 and also chapter 3 and also chapter 4,

provided a detailed account of the Levitical duties, including the care of the tabernacles, furnishings, and transportation of the sacred objects during the Israelites' journeys. In Numbers chapter 4 verse 3, the Levites were instructed to perform the work at the tent of meeting, highlighting their role in maintaining the sacred space. The Levites were divided into clans, each with specific responsibilities, ensuring that the work was distributed and managed efficiently. Tribal duties and divisions, the division of the Israelites tribes is another significant aspect of biblical duties and divisions. Each tribe was allocated as specific portion of the Promised Land as described in the Book of Joshua. This division was not only geographical but also functional. Each tribe had responsibilities related to the defense and governance of their territory. In Numbers chapter 2, the arrangement of the tribes around the tabernacle during the wilderness journey is described with each tribe assigned to a specific position and role.

This organization underscores the importance of order and structure and fulfilling God's purpose for the nation of Israel, family duties and divisions. The Bible also addresses duties and divisions within the family unit. Ephesians 5, 22-23-33 outlines the roles of husbands and wives, emphasizing mutual love and respect. Respect, husbands are called to love their wives just as Christ loved the Church. While wives are instructed to submit to their husbands as to the Lord, Ephesians 5, 22, children are also given specific duties as seen in Ephesians 6 verses 1 through 3. Children obey your parents and the Lord for it is right, honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with the promise so that you may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. This passes highlights the importance of familiar roles in maintaining harmony

and fulfilling God's design for family life. Conclusion, the biblical principles of duties and divisions reflect God's desire for order, purpose, and harmony within his creation, whether in religious service, tribal organization, or family life these principles, guide believers, and fulfilling their God-given roles and responsibilities. Sponsored by ChambaCasino. The Levite's primary role was to minister before the Lord, showing that worship is central to the life of God's people. First Chronicles 23 verse 30. Let's go ahead and check that out real quick. So the definition. So worship as a priority. Worship in the biblical context is the act of an attributing reverent honor and homage to God. It is a central theme throughout the scripture, emphasizing the believer's relationship with the creator. Worship is not merely a ritualistic practice, but a heartfelt response to God's majesty, holiness and love. It is both a personal and communal act reflecting the believer's devotion and submission to God's will.

What's the biblical foundation for worship? It is established early in scripture in the Ten Commandments. God commands you shall have no other God's before me, Exodus 20 verse 3. Understanding the exclusivity and primacy of worship directed towards Him alone. Worship is a response to God's revelation and His mighty acts as seen in Psalms where the Psalmist declares, ascribed to the Lord Yahweh the glory due to His name. Worship the Lord Yahweh in the splendor of His holiness. In the Old Testament, worship is intricately linked with sacrifice and obedience. Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac and Genesis 20 is a profound act of worship, demonstrating faith and submission to God's command. The construction of the tabernacle and later the temple provided a designated place for worship where sacrifices and offerings were made to honor God. Exodus 25, chapter 25 through chapter 31 and also when kings, first kings, chapter 6.

The prophets frequently call Israel back to true worship, condemning idolatry and empty rituals. Isaiah admonishes these people, drawn near to me, with their mouths and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Isaiah 29 verse 13, highlighting the necessity of sincere worship, the New Testament revelation. In the New Testament, worship takes on more spiritual dimension, a more spiritual dimension. Jesus emphasizes worship and spirit and truth, stating, yet a time is coming and now has come when the true worshipers will worship the Father and Spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. John 4 verse 23, this teaching underscores the internalization of worship, moving beyond physical locations to the heart's posture.

The early church exemplified worship as a priority through communal gatherings, prayer and the breaking of bread. Acts 2 verse 42 through 47, the Apostle Paul exords believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God as their spiritual act of worship. Worship in the life of Jesus, Jesus Himself modeled worship as a priority. He frequently withdrew to solitary places to pray and commune with the Father. Luke 5 verse 16, his life was marked by obedience and submission to God's will, culminating in his sacrifice of death on the cross, the ultimate act of worship and redemption. What's the eschatological perspective? The book of Revelation provides a glimpse in the eternal priority of worship, heavenly beings and redeemed saints continually worship God proclaiming, worthy as the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.

Revelation 5 verse 12, the astrological vision affirms that worship is not only a present priority but an eternal one. Practical implications for believers today worship as a priority means aligning one's life with God's purposes, engaging in regular personal and corporate worship and living in obedience to His commands. It involves a lifestyle of devotion where every action and decision reflects the glory and honor due to God. Worship is both a privilege and a responsibility, calling believers to a deeper relationship with God. And there we go. Perfect. So that's the end of the chapter. Let me go over a detailed description of what we read in 1st Chronicles 23 verses 1 through 32. 1st Chronicles 23, 1 through 32, details King David's final administrative acts before his death, organizing 38,000 Levites for Temple service as the nation transition to a more permanent...

Sorry, transition transition to a permanent worship structure. David appoints Solomon as King, sets the age of service to 20 plus and assigns Levites to aid priests, manage temple duties and lead daily worship. A new order with the Ark of Covenant settled David reorganizes the Levites formally tasked to carrying out the tabernacle with the new rule suited for permanent temple for a permanent temple. The Levites were tasked with four main duties 24,000 supervisors overseeing the general work of the House of the Lord Yahweh. 6,000 officers and judges handling civil and legal matters, 4,000 gatekeepers providing security porters, and then 4,000 musicians and singers praising God as ordained by David. Daily worship and gratitude, a central duty was to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord Yahweh and again in the evening.

Assisting the priests, the Levites served the descendants of Aaron by preparing the temple for sacrifices and rituals. A new beginning. David lowers the service age from 30 to 20 because the Levites no longer had to carry the heavy tabernacle requiring more staff for the permanent expansive temple site. The significance first chronicles 23 highlights that God cares about orderly, dedicated service, and that all roles within the church from leadership to service are important. Let's go over some practical applications for chapter 23, number one, embrace your role. Just as the Levites had specific duties, recognize and embrace your unique role in the body of Christ. We all have unique roles in the body of Christ, right? Prioritize worship, make worship, make worship, make worship a central part of your daily life, understanding its importance in your relationship with God.

Value order and organization is number three, implement order and organization in your spiritual practices and church activities to enhance effectiveness and devotion and devotion. Number four is serve faithfully. Commit to serving God and others with dedication and reflecting the Levites commitment to their duties. Let me just take another drink, so I yes. There we go. Let's go over some additional scriptures that connect. We have Romans 12 verses 4 through 8. This passage discusses the diversity of gifts within the body of Christ, similar to the varied roles of the Levites. Then we have first Peter 2 verse 9. Believers are described as a royal priesthood, called to declared God's praises, echoing the Levites role in worship.

Then we have Colossians 3 verses 23 through 24. Encourages believers to work hardily as for the Lord, aligning with the Levites dedicated service. All right, so let's go ahead and go to chapter 24. This will be the last chapter I do tonight because I feel like I'm losing my voice. And I don't want to damage it anymore. So let's see, we have all this one is looking like it's going to be not that much. It's all right. We'll do our very best here. Okay. Okay, so let me just do a brief introduction. Okay, first Chronicles 24 forms part of the broader narrative that outlines the administrative and spiritual structuring of the Israelite society under King David. This chapter focuses on the division of the priestly families descended from Aaron and their assigned duties in the temple.

It sheds light on the meticulous ordering of religious services and defined the Israelite identity and their relationship with God. All right, so let me just go ahead and. Historical setting first Chronicles chapter 23 through 29 shows David setting settling temple details before Solomon's reign. Chapter 24 is part of that plan ensuring worship will not stall after David dies. Okay, let me just go ahead and. Go to my teaching points here. So we're going to read versus one. What is that thing in the way? I don't understand. That's an ad choices. Oh, man, it's weird. Okay. President Barack Obama Virginia, we are counting on you. First chronic was 24 is going to be talking about in the in the first part is going to be talking about the divisions of the priest. Now, these are the divisions of the son of Aaron, the sons of Aaron.

They were Nadab, Abihu, Aliezer and Ithamara and Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no children. Therefore, Aliezer and Ithamara ministered as priest. Then David was the Duke of the sons of Aliezer and a hemelec of the sons of Ithamara divided them according to the schedule of their service. There were more leaders found of the sons of Aliezer than the sons of Ithamara and thus they were divided among the sons of Aliezer were 16 heads of their fathers houses and eight heads of their fathers houses among the sons of Ithamara. Thus, they were divided divided by law. One group as another for there were officials of the sanctuary and officials of the house of God from the sons of Aliezer and from the sons of Ithamara and the scribe Shamaya, the sons of Nathaniel, one of the Levites, wrote them down before the king.

The leaders of the Duke, the priest, the hemelec, the sons of Abathar and the heads of the fathers houses of the priests and Levites, one father's house taken for Aliezer and one for Ithamara. Now the first lot fell to Jehoreb, the second to Jidiah, the third to Haareem, the fourth to Sarerim, the fifth to Makajah, the sixth to Ma'hajim, Ma'jameen, sorry, Ma'jameen. The seventh to Haku's, the eighth to Abijah, the ninth to Joshua, the tenth to Shakaia, Shakaia, the eleventh to Ilyashib, the twelfth to Jikim, the thirteenth to Hupua, our sorry Hupua, no, Hupua.

The 14th to Jehashib, the 15th to Bilgah, the 16th to Imar, 17th to Hazeer, the 18th to Hapazise, the 19th to Bethlehia, the 20th to Jehekzil, Jehezakal, sorry, Jehezakal, the 21st to Jachin, Jechin. The 22nd to Gamol, the 23rd to Delilah, the 24th to Mazia. This was the schedule of the servith for coming into the house of the Lord Yahweh according to their ordinance by the hand of Aaron, their father, as the Lord Yahweh, God of Israel, had commanded him. All right, so divine order and structure. These were the divisions of the sons of Aaron, the sons of Aaron were an adab, Abihu, Ilyazer, and Ithomar.

The chapter begins by listing the sons of Aaron, emphasizing the lineage and the importance of family heritage and priestly duties. The division into 24 groups highlights God's desire for organized worship, ensuring that each priestly family had a role and responsibility in the temple service, right? So we read one through 19 there, right? So the concept of divine order and structure is a fundamental theme throughout the Bible, reflecting God's nature as a God of order, purpose, and intentionality. Intentionality. This theme is evident from the creation narrative and genesis to the astrological visions and revelation, divine order is manifested in the natural world, human relationships, the organization of the church, and the unfolding of God's adaptive plan. Human relationships and society, divine order extends to human relationships and societal structures, structures, and the family God establishes roles and responsibilities to maintain harmony and reflect his character.

We talked about this earlier, about Ephesians 5, 22 through 23, 22 through 33 outlines of relationship between husbands and wives. In society, God institutes governing authorities to maintain order and justice. Romans 13 verses 1 through 2 instructs, everyone must submit themselves to the governing authorities for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God. This passage underscores the belief that God ordained structures of authority for the common good. The church in spiritual order, the New Testament presents the church as a body with divinely ordained structure. Ephesians 4 verses 11 through 13 describes the roles of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, given to equip the saints for works of ministry to build up the body of Christ. This structure is designed to promote unity, maturity, and growth within the church. 1 Corinthians 14, 33 states, for God is not a God of disorder, but of peace.

This principle is applied to the conduct of worship and exercises spiritual gifts, ensuring that things are done decently and in order. God's redemptive plan, divine order is also evident in God's redemptive plan, which unfolds throughout history with precision and purpose. Ephesians 4 verses 4 through 5 reveals, but when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, under the law to redeem those under the law. Then He might receive our adoption as sons. This passage highlights the perfect timing and ordering God's plan of salvation. The book of Revelation provides a glimpse of ultimate fulfillment of divine order where God's kingdom is fully established and as will is perfectly realized. Revelation 21 1 through 4 describes a new heaven and new earth where God dwells with His people in all things are made new. The conclusion, the theme of divine order and structure permeates the biblical narrative, reflecting God's character and His purpose for creation, human relationships, the church, and His redemptive plan.

Through understanding and aligning with His divine order, believers are called to live lives that reflect God's peace, harmony, and righteousness. So that was like some information on divine order and structure, okay, which were kind of going over here. And then equality and fairness, they divided them impartially by a lot for there were officials of the sanctuary and officials of God among the descendants of both Eliezer and Ithomar. The use of lots ensured that the distribution of duties was fair and impartial, reflecting God's justice. So I'll just go over our just little brief description equality and fairness are principles deeply rooted in the biblical narrative, reflecting God's character and his expectations for human relationships. These concepts are woven throughout scripture, emphasizing justice, impartiality, and inherit value of every individual as we created in God's image.

It says the mosaic law further underscores fairness and justice and Leviticus 19 verse 15 commands you must not pervert justice. You must not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the rich. You are to judge your neighbor fairly this directive highlights the importance of impartiality and legal and social matters. Conclusion is while the Bible does not explicitly use modern terms like equality and fairness, the principles are evident throughout scripture. They reflect God's desire for a just and equatable society where every individual is treated with dignity and respect and accordance with his divine image, okay. Let me go back. A brief description of what we just read and verses one through nineteen. Give me one sec here, almost there. All right, so first chronicles 24 verse one through nineteen details Kings David, King David, along with Zodak and a Himalek, organizing Aaron's descendants, Aliezar and Ithamara into 24 in partial, lot determined divisions for temple service. This structure insured orderly, efficient rotation in the sanctuary, highlighting themes of obedience, divine authority and the legacy of faithful service. Organizational order David preparing for the temple divided the many descendants of Aaron into 24 groups to handle the high volume of priests, with sixteen leaders from Aliezar and eight from Ithamara alternating service. The lot system, the divisions were established by casting lots to ensure impartiality,

preventing bias and allocating lineage of faithfulness that the passage honors the descendants of Aliezar and Ithamara while implicitly highlighting the loss of priesthood roles for the descendants of Nadab and Ebehu, who died due to disobedience. And let me just go over something real quick. I don't know if you guys know what casting lots is. I've talked about it before. Excuse me, casting lots is like casting lots in the Bible. Let me just go over that real quick. Casting lots in the Bible was a method used to make impartial decisions or discern God's will. Often involve the throwing of Mark's stones or sticks. It was viewed as a way to allow God to directly govern decisions based on Proverbs 16 verse 33, which states that the decision rests within the Lord. So that's what that is. Okay, just so you guys know, it was widely used in the Old Testament and continued to the early church before Pentecost in Acts 1.

Post Pentecost usage after the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, there's no biblical record of it being used because you have the Holy Spirit now, right? So God's will is going to be done by the Holy Spirit. So you don't need that anymore. So I just want to let you guys know what that is. So when I'm talking about when they're talking about lots casting lots, that's what it is. Very interesting stuff. Okay, so the lot system, the division were established by casting lots to ensure impartiality providing bias and allocating. Okay, so lineage of faithfulness, the passage honors the descendants of Aliezar and Ithomar, while implicitly highlighting the loss of priesthood roles for the descendants of Nadav and Abihu, who died due to their disobedience. Lasting impact, this or a similar structure lasted until the New Testament. So key themes, divine obedience, ensuring duties are performed exactly as commanded, order and structure,

replacing chaos with organized schedule worship, responsible leadership, David's dedication to honoring God with excellence. Okay, so now we're going to go ahead and jump to verses 20 through 31, other Levites, and the rest of the sons of Levi, of the sons of Amram, Shabul, of the sons of Shabul, Jehdaya, concerning Rahebaya, of the sons of Rahebaya, the first was Shaya, is Shaya, of the Isharites, Shilomath of the sons of Shilomath, Jehath of the sons of Hebron, Jiraya was the first, Amaraya the second, Jehazil the third, and Jacobim the fourth, of the sons of Wazil, Makaya of the sons of Makaya Shamir, the brother of Makaya is Shaya,

of the sons of Isshaya, Zakiraya, the sons of Maraya were Mali and Mushi, in the sons of Jizaya, Bino, the sons of Maraya by Jazaya were Bino, Shoham, Zakur and Ibrahim, and Mahali, Ilyazar who had no sons of the of Kish, the son of Kish were Jaramil, also the sons of Mushi were Mali, Iter and Jiramath, these were the sons of the Levites according to the father's houses, they're also they're also cast lots just as their brothers and sons of Aaron did in the presence of King David, Sadduk, Ahemaleq, and the heads of the father's houses of the priests and Levites, the chief fathers did just as their younger brethren, so asking lots like I told you guys before what it was.

All right, so let's go over continuity of worship. The structured rotation of priests insured that worship and sacrifices continued without interruption, demonstrating the importance of consistency in our spiritual practices. The concept of continuity of worship, our continuity of worship, is deeply rooted in the biblical narrative, emphasizing the unbroken and perpetual nature of worship directed towards God. This theme is evident throughout both the old and new testaments, highlighting the importance, highlighting the importance of consistent and faithful worship as a sensual aspect of the believer's life. In the Old Testament, the continuity of worship is established throughout the covenant relationship between God and His people. The Israelites were commanded to maintain regular worship practices as seen in the institution of the Sabbath

and the various tests of feast and sacrifices. Exodus 20 verses 8 through 10 states, remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord Yahweh, your God. This command underscores the regular rhythmic nature of worship that has to be observed without interruption. The tabernacle and later the temple serve as a central places for continuous worship. The Levitical Presid was tasked with maintaining the daily offerings and sacrifices described in Leviticus 6 verses 12 through 13. The fire on their altar must be kept burning, it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add wood to the fire, arrange the burn offering on it, and burn the fat portions of the piece offerings on it. The fire must be kept burning on the altar continually, it must not go out.

This perpetual fire symbolizes the ongoing worship and presence of God among His people. In the New Testament, the continuity of worship is transformed and expanded through the person and the work of Jesus Christ. Worship is no longer confined to a specific location or ritual, but is to be consistent spiritual reality in the life of the believer. Jesus in his conversation with the Samaritan woman declares in John 4, 23, 24. But a time is coming and has come now when the true worshiper will worship the Father in spirit and in truth for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. God is spirit and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and truth. Excuse me, the early church exemplified this continuity of worship through the devotion of prayer, teaching fellowship and the break in a bread as seen in Acts 2, verse 22.

They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching into the fellowship of the break in a bread to prayer. This passage highlights the communal and ongoing nature of worship and the life of early believers. What's the practical implications for believers today? The continuity of worship is a call to integrate worship into every aspect of life. Romans 12, verse 1, exhorts, therefore I urge you brothers on account of God's mercy. God for your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. This verse encourages believers to view their entire lives as an active worship, maintaining a constant posture of reverence and devotion to God. In summary, the continuity of worship is a biblical principle that underscores the importance of an unbroken, perpetual devotion to God, rooted in the covenantial practices of the Old Testament, transformed through Christ and the New Testament and ultimately fulfilled in the eternal worship of the redeemed.

Okay, so that's the end of chapter 24. I'm going to go over a brief description of what we just read in verses 30 to 31. And then I will do the practical applications and then I'll do the connection to additional scriptures and then we're probably going to do prayer and then we'll end. First Chronicles 24, 22, 31 outlines the organization of the remaining Levites, sublimating the 24 priestly divisions, established earlier, ensuring all Levite families from Maliés are to Ithomar had designated orderly roles for temple service, selecting by a lot to ensure fairness, this structure organized duties for the Levites to support priests. These verses finalize the organization of the Levites who were not priests, but served alongside them to assist in daily temple function. The lot system. The divisions were determined by casting lots. A method used to prevent favoritism or family rivalries in a signing temple task.

Representation. Both younger and older members of the priestly and levitical lines were included, showing that responsibility and service were not strictly based on seniority. Preparation for service. This organized structure ensured that the priest and Levites, both from Aliezar and Ifomar families, had access. Ifomar families had a set rotating schedule for temple service. Temple organization, the passage highlights how King David organized the ministry of the temple so it could run effectively and consistently. Fairness and ministry. The use of lots in verses 30 to 31 is using an example of relying on God's direction for leadership roles rather than personal preference. Okay, so all right, that's it for that. Let me go over practical applications. Embrace order and worship just as the priest for organizing their service.

We should strive for order and intentionality. Intentionality in our worship and church activities. Number two, value each role. Recognize that every role in the church, no matter how small, is vital for the functioning of the body of Christ. Seek fairness and impartiality in our communities and churches. We should strive to treat everyone with fairness and sharing the opportunity as to serve our distributed justly. Excuse me. Okay, so additional scriptures that connect we have first Corinthians 14 verse 40, but everything must be done in a proper and orderly manner. This New Testament verse echoes the importance of order and worship. Romans 12 verses 4 through 5. For just as each of us has one body with many members and not all members have the same function. So when Christ, we who are many are one body and each member belongs to one another. This past is highlights the diversity of roles within the church, similar to the divisions of the priests.

Next is Exodus 28 verse 1. Bring near to you your brother Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites to serve me as priest. Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Aliazar and Ithamara. These verses provides the background for priestly lineage as mentioned in 1 Chronicles chapter 24. So there we go guys. That is the end of chapter 24. Like I said, I'm kind of having some issues here. So I'm going to end, but at least we went over, you know, basically for chapters 21, 22, 23 and 24. So that's amazing. All right. So let's go ahead and end this in prayer. So Father God in the name of Jesus. Thank you so much for giving me this glorious time. I just want to ask that you assist my voice, Lord, so that I can speak clearly so that I also have the Holy Spirit speaking through me. So when I'm speaking to the audience, Lord, I'm able to teach the way that you like me to teach also anybody that's out there that struggling with drugs, alcohol or anything else, Lord, I just ask that you please break those chains.
