Skyview Ends 15-Game Losing Streak to Camas

And oh yeah, this victory was for themselves to prove it could be done. The Skyview storm beat the campus paper makers on Friday night, closing out a close game with late touchdowns to secure a 38-21 victory that Kiggins Bowl. For this season, all it means for Skyview is a three and zero overall record to open the season and a one and zero start to the class 4A greater St. Helens League schedule. A lot of football to be played, including a rematch with these paper makers in October. For this program though, it means so much more. Honestly, no one could have predicted back in 2011 when Skyview beat campus 31 to 10 that campus would win the next 15 matchups between these two incredible programs. Yet, there were the paper makers dominating the series. In fact, in one season, campus beat Skyview twice, once in the regular season, and again in the state playoffs. From 2012 through 2025, the storm notched

1:0313 winning seasons with 11 playoff appearances. An impressive record? No doubt. Yet for whatever reason, Skyview could not get past campus. Until Friday, I play three high school sports. I've been able to beat campus in every other game except football. And now, tonight, we got it. Said senior linebacker, Torren Baker. It means the world. It's a crazy feeling to be the team to come together and beat them. Added quarterback, Dugan Logue. After all, there have been so many great Skyview players who have had to endure the tough losses. On Friday, though, the 2026 storm got to walk off the field as victors. Adarius Sparrow, a junior, was injured and unable to play against campus last year. When the paper makers top the storm by three points, I felt angry. Sparrow said, I watched my brothers lose. They were crying. Our playoff chances were over. It felt great to come back here and take them on. He vowed then to be on the field for this year's matchup to help the storm make it happen. He sure did, catching three long touchdown bonds from Logue, including two in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. Baker and David Dudco were two standouts

2:03for the Skyview defense. You know, that's not fair. Yes, they were making plays all night. But did they really stand out? It's hard to stand out when the other nine Skyview players on the field at the time were also making play after play on defense. Baker and Dudco refused to be singled out, both crediting their teammates and their coaches. Seriously, the team's defensive effort was superb. The scoreboard showed Canvas with 21 points. In reality, the Skyview defense only gave up one touchdown. Canvas got a defensive touchdown of its own two field goals and one two point conversion. The Skyview defense was pretty much lights out. We're locked in, Dudco said. On two occasions in the second half, the Skyview fans started celebrating a little too early, in fact, for Julian Williams, the school's athletic director. He hushed the crowd, head coach Matt Hamlin, Williams, and a host of Skyview assistant coaches have been part of the program for years. They remember all the ones that got away in the past. There was a game when Skyview was up by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and lost. So no, there would be no early celebrations. But here is something the storm can celebrate now. The storm did not survive

3:08Friday night. They finished the game. They closed it out. They dominated in crunch time. But first, some drama. Canvas, which had trailed by 11 points, made it 24-21 with 10-46 left in the fourth quarter. With the history of this series, the way Skyview has lost some late weeds. Yeah, that could have been scary for the storm. Instead, on the very next play from Scrimmage, the storm attacked. Log found Sparrow with a perfect bomb that Sparrow hauled in for a 76 yard touchdown. I don't know how they didn't see it coming. Log said, a surprising the paper makers with the deep pass. Nothing about the accuracy of the throws and the performance of the signal collar surprised Sparrow. He's underrated. Sparrow said of Log. We're all underrated. I'm telling you. Tap in. After the Skyview defense stopped Canvas again, Log and Sparrow combined for another long touchdown pass. Ball game. End of an era. Maybe the start of a different era. Only time will tell.
